For a lifetime, Vreni has moved among the Teuton people as an outsider, her fire magic lurking just beyond her reach. With the help of her beloved partner Stefan, her elemental gifts creep ever closer to the surface, escalating her hopes. And her impatience. She needs her fire magic to show itself so she and Stefan can start a family of their own.
Now two Las Vegas billionaires appear on the scene, wielding enchantments suggestive of the dark path. One of them is an ice witch, and she’s looking to snare herself a mate. She sets her sights on Stefan, while Vreni fights to awaken her slumbering magic.
Can Vreni seize a fiery Christmas gift? Or will her frosty rival bewitch Stefan’s heart?
Winter Flame is a holiday paranormal romance and is part of the His Name Was Augustin series. This novella can be enjoyed as a standalone and is Vreni and Stefan's complete story.
C.L. Carhart has been writing since the age of 4, dabbling in everything from children’s books, to fantasy, to historical fiction. A book addict, stray cat rescuer, and unashamed metalhead, you can find her plotting out fresh stories deep in the night with a can of diet soda and a fun-sized panther infringing on her progress.
I'm not a fan of the sleeping together before marriage, but the short story is well written and provides and interesting insight into the lives of these side characters from Swanie's story. :-)
This was a sweet little novella. Vreni is a witch who hasn’t reached the threshold to have her elemental powers surface yet, but has been able to incredibly increase her level in the last ten years with her Teuton priest Stefan. The two are madly in love with each other. A father daughter trio come from a Las Vegas clan who attempt some shady misgivings in order for the daughter to find a husband to bring back to their clan in America. Will Vreni gain access to her element in time to keep her priest for herself? Will they finally be able to have a Teutonic marriage? You’ll just have to read and find out.
An intriguing short story introducing Teutonic priests and elemental witches. Will Verena' s elemental powers manifest in time to stop snobbish ice witch from bewitching and stealing her beloved?
We all knew she was going to get her fire. Otherwise, why even write the book? the semi-interesting thing is how she gets it. The plot of the book consists of, "When's she going to get her fire? When's she going to get it? When? When? When?"
This was a bit of an unexpected read. With the title I half expected a cozy christmas novel. But it turned into quite the well built story! Lots of world building and character building, but in a way you will remember and without becoming an info dump. I liked it!
I liked this bonus story but had hoped it would be longer. It reads very easily. If you are looking for a quick read and have read the rest of the series I do recommend it.
