With their lives in Tannersfield behind them, Elizabeth, Isaac, and Kaylein are forced to strike a difficult bargain with the cunning Marquess Larmond as he plots rebellion against the crown. The price of their freedom leads them to the remote hilltop village of Kinedwyn, where they hope to begin a new chapter of their lives. Isaac seeks to ingratiate himself with the lord of the manor, while Kaylein, torn between her heart and her vows, struggles to rebuild the local priory. Elizabeth pursues her dream of becoming lady of her own house, oblivious to an unexpected romance that creeps up on her as the years pass by.
But as the spectre of civil war stirs the kingdom to arms, Sir Edward has not forgotten his revenge. War is a time of advancement for knights. Seeking glory, vindication, and a prestigious marriage to a new bride, he bides his time waiting for the moment he and his old enemies cross paths again.
Hearts are wayward things, and neither Elizabeth, Isaac, nor Kaylein will escape unscathed from the follies of love as Edward's terrible revenge draws near.

Kelly River is an author who dwells on the edge of the English countryside, forever losing themselves in rambling trails both fictional and material. An avid fan of reading, walking, games, and green teas, you might find them fondling a sheaf of freshly-picked grain or gazing at the canopy of trees beyond the garden fence while they write.
This is a second in the series of books that I have read that has kept my attention. Did not want to put it down.
The story of Kaylee, Elizabeth and Isaac Was so gripping. The story of the lives of these three people held your attention.
The author took you on a journey and you never knew which way Edward would attempt to hurt them again
I love books like this that grab your attention and keep it to the last page. Then you can’t wait to get a hold of the next book to find out what happens next.
I did not want volume 1 or 2 to end and so of course I pre-ordered volume 3 and can hardly wait to start reading. I really enjoyed the characters and their travails. Thank you for the hours of pleasant reading.
It's not often I get so engrossed in a story that it even affects my moods, especially as when towards the end of this volume it became disturbingly dramatic. I had to remind myself that it was just a story. This is magnificent storytelling. On now to Volume 3 for this saga's climax.
Very well written. Empathy with the central characters builds until the last few gripping chapters which are heart rending. Could not wait to read each chapter. Well done very good read.
