Brewin' Up Love

Rate this book
My new adult life is going as planned . . . until my boyfriend gets drafted.

Luckily it’s just baseball, not war.

Although I’m fighting pretty hard to make a long-term relationship transition seamlessly into long-distance.

One minute Nate and I are headed to college. The next he’s joining a minor league team in Atlanta. The only part of my life not changing is my family’s apple orchard and good old Apple Cart, Alabama.

Mary’s Diner and Piggly Wiggly are still the hub of downtown, and the General Store is still selling “everything from a cradle to a coffin.” (A rather morbid marketing tactic if you ask me.)

Part of me is ready to spread my wings and see what the rest of the world has to offer. Like the chocolate coffee Nate and I discovered recently. But Nate’s the other part of the equation—the solution to the “x” that was missing in my life. One that I pray never becomes an “ex.”

When we were only sixteen, we made a promise to love each other forever. That’s a promise I know I can keep.

But can that promise outlast us chasing separate dreams?

Brooke and Nate were simply adorable! This book will have you thinking back to your graduation from high school and early days of college. I really enjoyed their sweet story in this novella. It's a pretty quick read. I didn't realize when I read it that it is the prequel to Kaci Lane's Bama Boys and Single Southern Mama series. This novella ends on a sweet note for these two characters. But then there's a teaser for Mom Ball, the first book in this author's upcoming series. And let me just tell you I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED/HAPPENS!!!! So you'll finish this book being satisfied but then you're going to be like me and needing more! Just my warning for you!

There are so many decisions happening at that time in life and we get to watch Brooke and Nate experience the excitement and joys of it and also the emotions of all of the changes. They're just darling together! Another win for the Coffee Loft series that this is part of! And another win for me in finding a new author to read!

Content: Clean. Some mild innuendos. Nothing more than a few kisses.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Such a Sweet Story

Brooke and Nate are made for each other. Growing up in the same small town, then graduate and life separates them. He's off to play in the minor league baseball, his childhood dream of becoming a professional ball player, while Brooke heads off to college. The separation is hard.

Cute & Sweet

This was cute, I like the sweet romance and how their relationship is going to change upon graduation. At times this felt a bit young for me which is weird because I read a lot of middle grade but young adult is sometimes harder for me to get into because you’re in between childhood/adulthood and it’s a strange time in life. I’m not a huge fan of young adult stories, that being said this was clean, had mild elements of faith and very mild conflict. I would recommend to anyone that just wants something sweet and quick to read.

Brewin' Up Love is part of the Coffee Loft series. This is a multi-author series with all books involving a Coffee Loft coffee shop in some way. All books can be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.

This is actually a prequel to the upcoming second book in the Single Southern Mamas series- Mom Ball. Brooke is apparently introduced in the first book of that series- Mom Squad. I had not read that book yet, so this was my first introduction to Brooke and her story. Brooke and Nate are high school sweethearts. We meet them at the tail end of their senior year as they're about to graduate and head off to college. But their plans get changed when he is drafted to play baseball in the minor leagues, and they find themselves trying to make it work long distance. The story follows them as they try to navigate their new normal with his baseball career and the start of college. This is a super quick read. It could probably be easily read in one or two sittings... and it's definitely very much an introduction... they won't be getting their happily ever after just yet! We are given a peek at what is to come in Mom Ball and well, let's just say it definitely has me wanting to know what on earth happened in those years between this one and that one! Despite its short length, this was a really enjoyable read. It has some of that great country humor that I've come to love and expect from Kaci's books, and I really just found that I enjoyed these two together very much. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of their story very soon! (While I wouldn't say this ends on a cliffhanger exactly, their story again isn't quite finished yet. If that's something that would bother you, I might wait just a bit to read until that next book comes out!)

Brewin' Up Love is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

High school sweethearts becoming adults and all the worries of a long distance relationship. Very simple, short and sweet for sure, adored Nate and his assurance that things would work out. I saw in another review this is a prequel which makes total sense now, I felt the story was unfinished and wanted more! Looking forward to what comes next!

Sweet nostalgia. That's what comes to mind when I think of Brewin' Up Love. This book took me back to my high school years, my prom, my years of cheerleading. This is a sweet prequel to Kaci's Bama Boys and Single Southern Mama series. And I really REALLY need to read Mom Ball. WHAT HAPPENED???

This is another great installment of The Coffee Loft series. This one takes place in Apple Cart, Alabama. This story was a little different than the other books as the coffee shop was not the centerpiece of everything. It did a play a part as this was a hangout for the couple where Nate orders a chocolate drink that is really not coffee. The romance was still charming, sweet, and swoony, as well as clean with the signature heart that I love from this author's pen.

Brooke and Nate are high school sweethearts and plan to be together forever. Sometimes the best plans are not to be, and there are curves thrown into the mix. Nate is an outstanding baseball player who plans on playing baseball in college, and then hopefully heading to the pros after his stint in college. All that changes on prom night when Nate gets a phone call that he can go straight into the pros. He is offered a spot on the Braves minor league team. Brooke knows she cannot hold him back. Her head knows that this is the right thing to do, but her heart says otherwise. This is Nate's dream, but he is not sure he can leave her behind.

This was a sweet romance that showcases the struggles of long distance love and the sacrifices that have to be made in order for both parties to realize their dreams. They both get a quick lesson in making adult decisions with a teenager's love-stricken heart. We are left with a little cliffhanger for a future book. This is southern romance at its finest with great characters and fun tidbits. It is a short and easy read for romance lovers.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

4.5

This book is a sweet and quick read. Focused on an established, but young, couple, rather than a developing romance. Even though the situation and choices could potentially have major implications for their futures, the story felt fairly low-key. Brooke and Nate were high school sweethearts experiencing senior prom, graduation, and separation when he got the opportunity to play minor league baseball while she went to college. Brooke especially struggled with this change to their plans. “Too bad my dream was for his dream to happen on a different timeline.” The distance put a strain on their relationship, but they were both committed to their love. There is a sort of “for now” resolution to the story, but definitely some big questions regarding the couple’s long-term future are left unresolved, by design, as it is, in essence, a prequel. This book is part of a multi-author series connected loosely by the coffee shop chain. Each book in the series reads as a standalone, but this one will carryover into a future book. It’s more of a prequel to an upcoming book by the author and features the coffee shop less prominently than others in the series. There is also some light carryover from the community and characters in other books by the author. This is a sweet and clean story with mild innuendo and no harsh language.

Brewin Up Love
Kaci Lane

Coffee Loft location: Tuscaloosa AL

This story follows Nate and Brooke. They’re high school sweethearts trying to navigate their relationship while graduating high school and going their separate ways. Nate starts his minor league baseball career and Brooke is off to college.

I thought their relationship was sweet. You could tell they thought the world of each other. I do wish this story was a bit longer though so I could really get to know the characters. The coffee loft location was just mentioned a couple times but most of the story didn’t revolve around the coffee shop. Although I’d love to try one of those chocolate chip coffees! ☕️

Thank you Kaci for the ability to read and review!

This story is a clean, dual pov romance. It is part of the multi author series, The Coffee Loft. This book was a short and sweet story that followed two high school sweethearts into the transition of life after high school. I feel like this was a unique approach that I hadn’t seen with other stories in the coffee loft series. Nate and Brooke truly have a beautiful relationship that they both have to work for when separated and I feel like that makes it all the more worth it. As Nate but it in the story their relationship was easy in high school because they were always together but now with college and baseball they have to grow into their own and work towards the relationship they want with each other. This story is a prequel to “Mom Ball” which releases later this year.

Brooke and Nate are high school sweethearts both looking forward to their future together. Brooke's family own the local apple orchard and supply quite a few retailers with their produce. Brooke is looking forward to college and then becoming a teacher it's what ses always wanted, the trouble is which college. She doesn't really want to be to far from Nate, she can do her college anywhere he can't. Nate has always wanted to payback his mom for all her hardwork bringing him up as a single mom. Now maybe he has a chance but what does he tell Brooke, he doesn't want to lose her but this could be his big break. What to do. This is a heartwarming story of high-school love and the challenges they face suddenly becoming grownups. Can the overcome the obstacles or will it be the end. I loved the characters and the turmoil they face. This is another brilliant addition to the Coffee Loft series which just seems to just get better.

I’m loving the variety in the Coffee Loft series, this book was so different from the others. We meet Brooke and Nate, high school sweethearts who are going their separate ways after graduation and hoping to have a long distance relationship. It was very sweet, and so refreshing to see teenagers in the series. It was a fun origin story with a teaser at the end for the continuation of their story. Will they stay together? What is in their future? So many questions! I really enjoyed this one, it was a quick and easy read, and I loved the baseball side story as well.

This latest book by Kaci Lane is a sweet, first love kind of read! And it'll make you want to go find cozy coffeeshops and get you ready for baseball season! If you've read other books set in Apple Cart you'll recognize many names and places, which I love. This is full of Kaci's signature Southern charm and humor and quirky characters!

OVERALL STAR RATING: 4/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5

“When it comes to life-changing chances, few of us take them.”

Falling in love with your forever person while you’re still in high school is a beautiful thing but can also be complicated with the reality of “adulting” on the horizon. Life may start directing you down different paths. There can be a lot of uncertainty and fear that comes from a relationship starting when you’re that young.

Brooke and Nate are high school sweethearts living out their senior year with prom and graduation just around the corner. Nate is on the baseball team and has big dreams of making a career of it. Although he assumed he’d be playing college ball, he’s thrilled when he receives an offer and is drafted into pro ball instead. Dreams are quickly becoming a reality and a whole new world is being presented to him…but…where does this leave his relationship with Brooke when Nate will likely be traveling and whisked off to other parts of the US? Brooke always envisioned them going to college, marrying, and then moving away together wherever baseball took them. Things are moving faster than she ever could have imagined and the last thing she wants to do is be the person standing in the way of his life goals. A long-distance relationship feels like too much to endure.

You’re going to really enjoy this sweet little novella and reading about their journey. It had an ending that took me by surprise and left me wanting more. Thankfully, it sounds like more IS coming. This was apparently an intro into “Mom Ball”, one of Kaci’s up and coming books as part of the Single Southern Mamas Series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Kaci Lane is the queen of southern rom-coms, and when I saw she had a novella, I jumped on it and devoured it in one afternoon! I have read all of her books, and each one is a reminder at how great she is at her craft. She is wonderful are creating sweet storylines that ooze that southern charm and sass with all the laughs and swoon you want. This novella is part of the multi-author series, The Coffee Loft, and can be read as a standalone. This story introduces us to Nate and Brooke and their beginning of their love story. She has a new book coming out soon (Mom Ball) that will be the continuation of their story years down the line. We learn about their families and what makes them who they are as they finish up high school and take the next step on their journey. In just a small amount of time, we grow close to the characters and side characters (LOVE the addition of LuLu!) and get invested during those sweet moments! I hated to see it end because I wanted to know what happens next, and now I’m so excited to know that we will…soon!

This was such a cute little novella, it’s the shortest one I have read in The Coffee Loft series. This one was so different from all the other Coffee Loft books cause it centers more around the romance between the high school sweethearts Brooke and Nate. It was more about their journey transitioning from high school into their new adult life in college and what that means for their relationship. I did read after reading this book that it is a prequel novella for Kaci Lane’s book called Mom Ball. It ends leaving you with questions about whether they stay together? and what their future holds? Which I’m assuming you find out more in her book Mom Ball. I like that it leaves you wondering what is gonna happen next cause it makes me want to pick up Mom Ball and find out what happens to Brooke and Nate down the road. Over all I recommend this if you want just a short sweet romance that you could read in a couple of hours.

Brooke & Nate are high school sweethearts. One minute they are discussing their college plans together & the next everything changes. Nate gets a phone call that changes the whole trajectory of his future plans. Brooke is left in a whirlwind of emotions when life throws them a curveball but she knows that she can't stand in his way with the opportunity that he has been given. An opportunity that will take him to another state all together. Will they be able to make a long distance relationship work? Will all the sacrifices made for each other be worth it in the end?

This sweet & clean romance is a quick little read of about 100 pages. Another cute & funny addition to the popular Coffee Loft multi author series. It is a little different from some of the other ones I have read so far in that the Coffee Loft isn't the main setting. They do visit it a few times as it is near the college where Brooke goes to school but it's just not a focal point in the story. This is where Nate likes to buy his chocolate chip coffee that he wants "to taste more like milk" because to him "the scent of coffee is way better than the taste"! LOL

This story also serves as a prequel to the upcoming Single Southern Mamas series. "Mom Ball" is the next title & is set to release in August of 2024. This is where their story continues & we find out what happens next for Nate & Brooke eight years into the future.

So if small town baseball romances are your thing, be sure to check this one out as well as the 13 other Coffee Loft stories in the series! 💕
You just might find a home run! ⚾️

It was a ridiculously short read (96 pages) and I wish I knew that before I downloaded it I’m hoping to find the next book because it was really annoyed at the cliff hanger. The author wrote well and it was kind of cute it was clean with only kisses. I only struggle because it just felt kind felt like a lot of complaining. It wasn’t just that they were navigating college and being apart from each other etc. It felt like sad, almost depressing and we’ve all been there, but Life does go on and you have to keep going. I feel like every time they were together all it was sad because all they were thinking about was when the other person was leaving. The book where they leave off is called mom Ball or some thing and I can’t find it anywhere.

In Brewin’ Up Love by Kaci Lane highschool sweethearts Brooke and Nate get separated as Nate gets his chance at professional baseball.

This book is an addition to the Coffee Loft series, but in my view it is not. That said, it is a nice and relaxing story. Brooke and Nate had plans, but now they have to deal with a long distance relationship. They are nice characters and you root for them.

Brewin’ Up Love is a somewhat different story in the Coffee Loft series, a short easy to read sweet story about two young people figuring a way to stay together, with a lovely and easy to read writing style.

These 5 star reviews are not honest. I’m sorry, but this is not a good book. The first couple chapters start out great, but then Nothing Happens. It gets quite boring. It feels like the author is then trying to reach a word count because she starts filling in the pages with information that has no basis in the story at all, like one character getting rained on and another character’s thoughts about the behavior of random kids in a convenient store, and that he will delay buying gas until later. Who cares? I don’t mean that these could not be details that color a story; I mean that these details ARE the story.
This should not have been marketed as a stand alone novel.

This is a quick read of Brooke and Nate, high school sweethearts who face some tough decisions after they graduate. Brooke heads off to college while Nate pursues his dream of professional baseball. Will what they have be able to endure through distance and career choices? I enjoyed the small town of Apple Cart, Alabama and the family and friends that are there. The characters add dimension to the story with hopes of seeing them again in the future.

I received a copy of this book. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
