Have you ever felt like you could one day be productive if only you would stop dragging your feet?
If you want solutions, but you’re not sure you’d even finish a book about how to stop feeling lazy (because THAT’S how easy it is to get distracted, overwhelmed, and off-track), then keep reading. I’m that person, too, but I’ve found solutions and ways to be more myself AND find success. I’ve written this book so that you can start to see that you’re not nearly as far gone as you might think you are!
In You’re Not Lazy, you’ll read stories and learn strategies to make things work while honouring who you are as a person. Come into my world as I teach you that you don’t need to reinvent your life to start being successful.
In the months since I've read this book, I've quoted it to at least one person a week. I was lucky enough to get an advance copy and I can tell you that this book has genuinely changed my life.
If you're a person who regularly beats themselves up for not doing or getting enough done; if you're someone who feels bad because like you're not good at "normal life stuff" (but somehow... you still manage to always figure things out); if you feel like you're lazy...
..then you NEED this book.
Lara's easy to read style, stories and observations mean you'll race through this book. And even if you find you're too "lazy" to read the whole thing, you'll get something out of any chapter you care to dip into.
This book really spoke to me. It's like it was written just for me. I'm so glad I bought it read it. Lara's story is so relatable and her advice is spot on.
You're Not Lazy is refreshing, funny & wildly effective. Even if you view your life as a full blown success this book is for you. It is like finding the friend you didn't know you needed. I would recommend this to anyone who believes or thinks they could be doing more or that success is for other people.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s such a great reminder to evaluate what success means to each of is individually, rather than trying to measure up to what society tells us success is.
I also loved (and needed to hear!) the concept of it being okay to not do something simply because you don’t want to do it.
This book hits ALL of the right notes. It's funny, deep, and affirming of our humanity from cover to cover.
It's like cozying up with a warm drink and blanket and having a heart-to-heart conversation with your bestie when everything feels awful. Lara reminds us that lazy isn't really a thing, and that we deserve rest.
Allow me to share one of my favorite excerpts:
"When we realize this almighty perfection isn't possible, we can release ourselves from the goal of striving for it. We get to decide what is right for us. We get to let go of the expectation that we could ever do something that would make everyone happy."
And that little snippet helped me not beat myself up for not checking all the boxes on a plan that's supposed to lead to perfect success. I'm not a machine. I'm human. I'm not perfect. And I kinda dig it that way.
I absolutely love this book! Fortunate enough to get my hands on an advanced copy, I've already benefitted from the results of reading it. It totally changed my perspective on the value of rest and doing things consistently and at my own pace. It showed me how to do all the stuff I want to do, MY way. It's a priceless mindset shift. I'm much gentler on myself while being more productive because of it.
In a culture that constantly asks us to hustle harder and improve, Lara Wellman leads us to a truer truth: That resting isn't lazy, and that we're not broken if we don't (or can't) live up to society's unrealistic expectations of us. With her witty and down-to-earth approach, Lara gave me permission to let go of the idea that work needs to be hard for me to find success and meaning in life.
