A short story from Reyes' point of view. Okay, I like him now. It's official!

she was a reaper. One day she’d start acting like one and I would be defenseless against her. Until that time, I would drink her in like my life depended on it. I’d waited so long, centuries in fact, for her to be born on earth.... I would stall any battles yet to come as long as possible, and then I would surrender to her, let her annihilate me, because life without her would be unbearable.

Awww!

This is the same scene between Charley and Reyes as in Shimmer, but told from the perspective of Reyes. It was really fun to get a better glimpse of his personality and this is a worthwhile way to spend a few minutes (but wait until you're past book 5 to avoid spoilers).

This story (along with the companion Shimmer) is available on the author's website:

REYES' POV, everybody.

I repeat, Reyes' POV. This is not a drill.

But she was a reaper. One day she’d start acting like one and I would be defenseless against her. Until that time, I would drink her in like my life depended on it [...] I would stall any battles yet to come as long as possible, and then I would surrender to her, let her annihilate me, because life without her would be unbearable.

This mini replays the exact same scene as Shimmer.
This time with the inner monologue of Reyes.
Most of it is word for word the same as the last short story.
There are a few inner thoughts that differ and divulge some juicy tidbits of knowledge not previously discussed. Since these stories are only a few paragraphs long they don't take much time to sneak into your reading schedule.

The same scene from Shimmer but from Reyes' point of view. I actually like it better because we've never had his POV before and I have to say it's fascinating. I could see how much he really loves her. But also how much of a jerk he is.

I liked this one even more, even though the hot factor was off the charts there was a whole lot of sweetness as well and some sadness too. I love Reyes and how much he worships Charley. True love at it's finest.

NECESITO MÁS POVS DE REYES, PLEASE!!

pd: y que no se cumpla esto o lloraré mucho :(
Still, the mere thought of the two of us at odds brought me such pain, such agony, that I rarely let it cross my mind. But she was a reaper. One day she’d start acting like one and I would be defenseless against her. Until that time, I would drink her in like my life depended on it. I’d waited so long, centuries in fact, for her to be born on earth. Forbidden fruit often produced the sweetest nectar. I would stall any battles yet to come as long as possible, and then I would surrender to her, let her annihilate me, because life without her would be unbearable.

This one was a lot better than Shimmer. I loved Reyes' POV. I was a bit annoyed Jones hadn't bothered to change some of the language so that it didn't sound like Charley and Reyes had used the same bag of cliches. Also the first two paragraphs contained more grammar mistakes than a published book! These were obviously unedited bits and not incompetence but still. It's free so anything goes?

Glow is a free short story that can be read on Darynda Jones' website here: http://www.daryndajones.com/glow-by-darynda-jones-shimmer-as-told-through-the-eyes-of-reyes-farrow/

It's actually the same scene from the free short story Shimmer (you can read that one here: http://www.daryndajones.com/shimmer-a-charley-davidson-short-story/ if you haven't already and I'd recommend reading it before Glow) but this time it's told from Reyes' POV.

Yes you heard me, we get a scene from Reyes' point of view! I was over the moon when I realised that and I now love him more than ever! It's a really cute little Christmas scene between the two of them, plenty of humour, a lot of heat and all round just a fab little freebie.

Please be aware that these two stories contain a MAJOR spoiler for Fifth Grave Past the Light though so whatever you do don't read them until after you hit that point in the series!

This is the same as Shimmer but told in Reyes point of view. I’ve been dying for just a tiny look intotht what went on in Reyes’ mind. As he deals with Charley’s broken promise to not buy him a Christmas gift we are finally given glimpse. Swoon. It’s all about her. And I loved how he sees her. It also gives a bit of a clue as to what might be in their future and definitely what Charley is capable of without giving anything away for future books.

My biggest complaint – it was too short!!!

Interesting short story, reason to read it is for the first time this is told from Reyes POV. It is also the best description of Charley since the series began. Still it adds nothing to the series storyline.

A piece of flash fiction to enthrall readers who are Charley Davidson and Reyes Farrow fans. It’s supposed to be “Shimmer” from Reyes’ perspective. You do get a bit of his viewpoint and thoughts but most of it is just the same sentences reworked for his pronouns. It’s not enough of a story for me but it was a quick light read.
