After several setbacks, Soleil, Lukas, Davyn, and the rest of the Greybrow's team finally arrive at the Isle of Sorrows, and the expedition for the mage's legendary spell tome commences...
My name is Soleil Eldemyer, and I don’t like pirates. Or giant jellyfish, voltaic dragons, or goblins—all of which we find on the Isle of Sorrows, a melancholy sort of island at the heart of the Cursed Isles.
But I do like Lukas Greybrow. In fact, I like the captain’s brother quite a lot...and certainly more than I should.
Sadly, we have little time to explore the affection growing between us, mostly because everything on this wretched island is trying to kill us. Oh, and there appears to be a traitor in our midst as well. At this rate, we’ll never find the mage’s tome.
But there I go, getting ahead of myself again.
Let’s pick up where we left off…
Greybrow Brothers is a closed-door nautical fantasy adventure full of sizzling romance, banter, and peril on the high seas. The series may be read alone or after the original Silver & Orchids books.

Shari L. Tapscott writes young adult fantasy and humorous contemporary fiction. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys gardening, making soap, and pretending she can sing.
She loves white chocolate mochas, furry animals, spending time with her family, and characters who refuse to behave.
Tapscott lives in western Colorado with her husband, son, daughter, and two very spoiled Saint Bernards.
I was so invested in the story and what was happening at the end that I was totally shocked when I saw the “to be continued……”. Ugh Cliff hangers! However it also means the story is amazing if you don’t even realize there’s a Cliff coming up fast.
As before she tells the story from various points of view instead of just the main character(s). It really builds out the world and the background when you are seeing what’s happening with other characters simultaneously to the main one.
Lots of excitement and action as well as a sweet love story (or two) that’s perfectly woven throughout. I just adore all the characters so much and would love to have a dragon like Flink.
As always with this author it’s a clean story. It’s a rare thing to find books that I can’t put down and at the same time don’t even have to think twice about handing it to one of my teenage daughters to read if she wants.
Highly recommend. Don’t start here though, definitely read the Silver and Orchids series first!
Like most of the Shari Tapscott books I’ve read, this trilogy is an action-packed romance. It’s fast paced and engaging with multiple romances weaved in. I didn’t like that it started out with a love triangle (I am NOT a fan of those), but it resolves without excessive time, indecision, and distress.
It’s a nautical story with treasure hunters, dragons, magic, kidnapped princesses, and moll trolls. It was thoroughly entertaining and I enjoyed it.
Content: I will warn that there are a few scenes steamier than I prefer, despite not going beyond kissing and holding. There is no foul language. There is some violence, but it’s not excessive. There is magic. There are no references to faith or God.
Ugh, honestly, I couldn't ask for much better from a cutesy romantic adventure.
I really love Soleil and Lukas’s relationship, he is so stinking swoony and perfect for her. I’m really relieved that we didn’t linger too long on the love triangle. I’m also really happy to see that Davyn went his own way without causing a huge rift between the brothers.
Ahhhhh. Book two in this trilogy had me swooning (with two relationship threads growing), laughing, dying with anticipation, and so excited to find out what happens next—my only complaint is that the third book isn’t out yet. 😂
This is the second book in the Greybow Brothers series, and I loved it even more than the first one! I love getting to know Lukas, Soleil, Davyn, Felicity, and even Wilder better. Their adventure on the cursed island was perfect; such a rich new setting to explore! The descriptions made me wish I could visit...even with all the deadly creatures.
Seriously. This is such a swoony adventure fantasy. If you love treasure hunts, islands, and fantasy monsters, and ALL the swoon, read iiiiit. It's SO GOOD.
Shari Tapscott is a brilliant author, but whoever convinced her to split one long book into three is a dolt. Book two has some good moments, but it ends with no resolution whatsoever. It's just a painful to be continued and book three isn't even out yet. Please please don't read this series until the whole thing is published. Breaking it up kinda ruins it. :/
"Do you realize how badly I want to impress you?" "There's no need," I sigh. "I'm impressed. I've always been impressed." "I love how you have a talent for turning something that should be a compliment into an insult."
"You seem to remember the moment slightly differently," I say wryly, making the mistake of meeting his eyes. Lukas steps a touch closer, lowering his voice. "Do I? Shall I tell you what else I remember so we may compare?" Before I can reply, he continues, "I remember the fell of your fingers pressed against the skin of my neck. I remember the taste of your promise." I swallow, pretending to be unaffected. "What promise?" When you said you'd kiss me." A pleasant thrill runs down my spine. "Promises don't have flavors." He leans in, meeting my gaze. "They do to me."
Soleil takes a step forward, running her hand down the lapel of my jacket. Then she looks up, her peridot eyes fixed on mine. "If I asked you to stay, what would you do?" "Probably have heart failure," I answer truthfully, watching her hand travel the fabric. She lowers both her hand and her eyes. "You should go." "Why?" "Because I don't want you to," she admits.
I loved that even though it is a trilogy, it's a continuing, developing story without the usual style of cliffhanger. (This is the middle book in a trilogy so don't expect everything to be wrapped up, the book needs to end somewhere.) Instead it leaves you wanting more because, simply put, it's good storytelling.
Isle of Sorrows is full of romance, adventure, humor, magic, and dragons (along with several other interesting creatures/monsters). I like that the love triangle aspect isn't a part of this one and that there seems to be a new romantic interest for Davyn. As for Lukas and Soleil, watching their friendship and feelings develop and deepen, in the midst of everything else that is going on, was my favorite part. As a side note, I hope we get to see more of Wilder in the future. I feel like there is a story there!
Favorites: * "If I were a cat you would have already scared off two of my lives." * Flink the lesser dragon * "I've decided Davyn and Lukas Greybrow are catmint." * Sunshine * "The cat really is a spy." * "You are my quiet harbor."
I can't wait to get my hands on the final book in this trilogy!!!
Oh, wow. I was so engrossed that when the cliffhanger came, I was bummed. But that's a good thing, because this series is so good! It immediately picks up from where the last book ended and it flew right through.
The world building as always was good and written well. There were also other POV's which I didn't mind because none of the characters were bad or poorly added. We actually get more into their story and thoughts, which I always love! This story of adventure and swoony romance is not over yet and I can't for the next one!!
One thing however, was that in the romance department, it was always predictable. Just like the twins parents. Their story is similar in that regard and I guess I wanted a little different. BUT! That didn't make the story any less enjoyable or bad. I love it! I will absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a clean adventure romance with handsome charming and troublemaking twins!!! You'll not regret it.
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review!

It’s hard not to fall entirely in love with Lukas in this one now that I know I can. And I like that there is what seems to be a growing love interest for both brothers at this point.
I’m ecstatic that we are getting more dragons, and I love how Soleil takes a little inspiration from their element.
The “blank” really is a spy made me laugh. The twin abilities are probably my favorite thing about this series.
I would definitely like to be an adventuress in one of Shari’s books, however I’d definitely prefer to be one with magic. And also, not one who explores caves.
Side note while trying not to give other series spoilers... As I read how good Lukas is with Soleil thanks to his ability, it makes me think his dad must have a little something similar (even if Shari didn’t mean him to) because he always knew exactly how to be with their mom.
This was a bit of a cliffhanger ending. I was thinking I had a few more chapters and then boom it was done right after a pretty intense moment. I’m so ready for book three.
Another fantastic adventure romance by Tapscott! This was a seamless continuation of book 1, with more action and a fun new setting. I really liked the dragons in this book and the expedition to the island (all the pirate vibes thank you). I am still loving Lukas and Soleil and I am anxious to see where their story goes in the next book, but I’m also enjoying having the second couple grow on me. Another part I found highly entertaining was the twos FMCs not getting along at all lol. I’m curious where that dynamic is going to go in the next book too! My only negative is that I needed it to be longer. 😂 This book has everything I’ve come to love and expect from a Tapscott book and she is definitely an auto-read author for me.
So much character development in this book! I’m really loving Soliel and the Greybrow brothers, but it was also really nice to get Felicity’s perspective as well. I have a feeling hers might become my favorite storyline. The story picks up with the team traveling to the Cursed Isles to find the spell book in exchange for the release of Cassandra Marie. Felicity stows away on the ship in hopes of stealing the spell book for her own benefit. Once on the Cursed Isles the team runs into all sorts of trouble, romance continues to bud and bloom, and a whole new depth to the characters is discovered. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger that will have you wanting the next book immediately! Good thing Shari L Tapscott cranks these stories out fairly quickly. 🙌🏻
This is a great second book of the series, and smoothly bridges from book one into the cliffhanger to book three. It is basically set on the Isle of Sorrows where the Greybrow brothers and their expedition are searching for a magical book. The descriptions are vivid and range from island scenery to stark and scary episodes. The brothers' skill of understanding animals plays a key role. Soleil has made a decision which mellows out her personality, but maintains her wit. Felicity is back and her role is villainous, but we get a back story to her that sheds light on why she does what she does. There are pivotal decisions to be made! I did receive an ARC from the author.
The Greybrow crew has made it to the Isle of Sorrows, and the reasons for the first settlers leaving becomes evident as the crew battles voltaic dragons, man-eating jelly fish, and other creatures that have no name. The brothers also hear a plea for help with their 'twin gift' and the quest for the ancient spell book becomes a rescue mission instead. Lukas and Soliel's relationship heats up and solidifies as Davyn and Felicity's relationship sparks with bitterness. Flink and Mage Gregory play important roles in this book. And, readers beware...there is a cliff hanger. The good news is that book 3 is out and readers can continue to the conclusion.
Isle of Sorrows picks up right where Corsair’s Curse left off. Our group finally gets to meet up with Cassandra Marie and then journey to the Isle of Sorrows where everything is out to kill them. With no sign of the treasure and danger around every corner, it looks like rumors of the island being cursed might be true.
This book was so much fun to read! It has action and adventure, friendship and romance, monsters and dragons, and a whole lot of rain.
I did not expect the book to end on a cliffhanger like it did. The third book can’t come out soon enough!
So this tale is about as good as the other one. A grumpy, defensive FMC isn’t fun, but she starts to calm down once Lukas grows on her. And that’s just it. She’s been trying so hard to push him away this whole time in the last book, that this book just feels too perfect. The adventure on the island is fun. I really would have liked to see more of Davyn taking advantage of the prisoner’s snare to advance chemistry between him and Felicity. As soon as Gregory cast it, it caught my intrigue, but then nothing happened with it and my intrigue fizzled.
This is another fun installment, with lots of adventure, a bit more swoon, and a lot more heart-pounding action. The world created is fascinating and unique, and the different aspects of the characters’ relationships are interesting.
I do wish there was more character growth and something of more substance to the story than just an escape to an exciting world. Overall, it’s a fun addition, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The story continues, & happily we don't have to wait for the story to follow a stereotypical conflict storyline. Instead things develop steadily & believably with the excitement picking up to ... a cliffhanger ending.
It's not the worst I've ever encountered, but I hate cliffhangers, so it did mar the enthusiasm of my reading experience a smidge. Book 3 in May. Sigh.
Lukas pushes himself up so he's sitting next to me. "Sunshine," he says softly, stroking my hair behind my ear. "You are my quiet harbor."
Isle of Sorrows is the fantastic second installment of the Greybrow Brother's trilogy and it was absolute perfection. Like the first book, I was kept on my toes throughout the entire read. Also, like the first book, I couldn't believe it ended where it did. I'd like the third book ASAP, please!
The island setting brings an entirely new magical twist to the plot and I'm super excited to learn more about the unique people and animals living there. The unpredictable surroundings helped propel the increasingly solidified bond between two of the main characters. A new POV is also introduced, and I'm not mad about it!
SO swoony and SO fun!
5/5 stars
* I received a complimentary ARC from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
The exciting adventure continues in this second book with the Greybrow Brothers! Exploring the Isle of Sorrows with these fun characters, and encountering the strange creatures there, keeps you engaged in the story and wanting to keep reading!
This one does have a cliffhanger ending that has me feeling so ready to read the next one!
I loved this one so much! Once again I got sucked into the story and was startled to reach the end-it was that good! Lukas Greybow is so dreamy and I love his admiration & how smitten he is with Soleil🫠. We get more of their budding relationship, more treasure hunting, and more of Davyn & Felicity! Anxiously awaiting the conclusion🤎
I have yet to read a Shari Tapscott book I haven’t loved. I love her characters. I love the playful banter. I love the HEA. The cliffhangers are a little rough on me. But at least she writes, edits and publishes so quickly that it’s bearable…but only just!
This second book was just as enchanting as the first, delivering a bit more action and romance, along with that fun-spirited and Greybrow charm that puts the cherry on top of another delicious tale.
This. Book. You guys, THIS BOOK!! It's soooo good! I mean, wow! It will have you swooning one minute, then on the very edge of your seat the next! It's fantastic. This whole series is fantastic!
Isle of Sorrows has all the excitement of exploring a dangerous abandoned island, hunting for hidden treasure in an old mine, dragon encounters, brave and heroic characters, fun banter, and some seriously swoony romance! What more could you possibly want?? Oh yeah, THE NEXT BOOK!
Isle of Sorrows was fantastic!! I loved the action, the adventure, and most of all, the romance. Soleil and Lukas are so sweet together, and I absolutely love all their banter. On to the next book!!
I adore the Greybrow family. It has been fun getting to know this next generation of the family. This book was a delightful follow-up, and I look forward to the next one!
A little slow, sometimes sad, but clean. One kissing scene, closed door, no profanity. There is action, adventure, and fighting. I will go on to book 3 if it’s out. I want to know if they all make it out alive and do they find the treasure?

Dragons, a treasure hunt, mysterious monsters in the dark, pirates and romance! This was a fantastic middle installment of this story. I’m so excited to read the final book! Loving this story!
This storyline is well executed with a creative premise - each character well defined moving the story forward to create a romantic and adventurous read!
