Kalendorf’s victorious fleet has entered Earth’s Solar System. But what has happened to the planet Jupiter?
Meanwhile, Alby and Suz are being held captive by Enemy Dalek forces. But with the Emperor’s consciousness inhabiting Suz’s mind, can Alby ever again trust the woman he loves?
And could it be that Kalendorf and The Mentor have stumbled into a Dalek trap? Time may be running out for the human alliance with the Daleks from another universe...
Oh the plots and counterplots continue to unravel. And the Daleks are on the verge of winning everything. Or are really losing it all? And I’d there truly anything valid about “good Daleks” and “bad Daleks” does such a distinction mean anything?
After two episodes of seriously egregious codswallop, finally the meat of this thing kicks in at the end. But it is too little too late. It is interesting to see Kalendorf's machinations, which they've been forshadowing since the beginning of this series, starting to snap into place, but it is difficult to really trust the cunning plan of someone who so easily fell for the Jupiter gambit. Again, large battle scenes just do not work on audio. Nick Briggs was wise enough to avoid them mostly in Dalek Empire I, or at least have a good reason to have someone describing them. I have no idea what happened here. The love story, so compelling in DE:I, really falls apart here when Alby and Suz actually end up together. Remember Alby who, in the first series was a cool, cyniocal, space spy? Sigh.
So much better! This is the third or fourth time I've heard this series and I still love it. The back and forth in time, how you never know who is good or evil, how everything is doomed, how there's a good mixture of men and women. Definitely one of big finish's best.
A trap is sprung and alliances fracture. I did wonder why, if the daleks are powerful enough to terraform a Jupiter, they would ever need to invade other planets. But I suppose they do it because they enjoy it.
I will make a combine review because honestly I can't rate this audiodrama without the rest becuase they are one big story...
Some spoilers ahead...
The Second series of Dalek Empire the main characters pass from Susan Mendes to Kalendorf. Here this story is focus of the battle betweeen the humankind and the new daleks against the old evil daleks. From the very beginning we get the feeling that the new good daleks are not that evil but at the same their goodness is by total control of everything. I think this 4 audiodramas should be only 2. What's interesting is that finally Alby Brook mets with Susan Mendes. In the end Kalendorff is succefull in breaking the deal with the good daleks making them return to their own universe (since the war will be ever going) and with the un-wanted help of Susan Mendes, now link to every Dalek, send a shockwaves killing every dalek. We later understand that one Dalek Survived. IT was very interesting to see how Susan Mendes evolved and had to choose between the love of her life (Alby) and Kalendorf - not in a romatic way. The ending is quite good.
Suz and Alby find themselves the prisoners of the Dalek Empire, while Kalendorf works alongside the Alliance's Mentor, seeing further proof of her less than benevolent nature. The discovery of an abandoned hospital inmate seems to remind the humans of the aggression of the Empire, until a sudden twist reveals who the true enemy is: Pretty much everyone.
Judging by the Dalek War and Gallifrey series, the Doctor Who universe is better without the Doctor in it ... Another fantastic series of cosmic intrigue with Suz, Kalendorpf, Alby and everyone's favorite fascist dustbins.
