Rate this book
After injury forces Brendan Gateman to stop playing pro football, he falls back on his physical education and teaching degrees and begins coaching high school ball. Settling into a new town and hanging with his defensive coordinator, Dan Roper, Brendan finally feels like his life is back on track. His only regret is that the fear of losing not only his new life but his family forces him to remain deep in the closet. Still, he has two of the three things people always want out of life, and that’s enough for him. At least, that’s what he thinks until he meets paramedic Randy Coughlan. The out and proud man makes Brendan start rethinking his choices. When problems in Randy’s life forces the man to make some tough choices, will Brendan’s insecurities make him walk away? Or will he step up and become the man he never thought possible but always wanted to be?

*** Football coach and the Paramedic ***

**** Wonderful story about coming out of the closet and taking what you really want from life !! * Big, strong, Coach Brendan, isn't out, but sure wishes he was when he meets Paramedic Randy at the first aid tent during a football game.
* The smaller, dirty blonde, handsome, white man is stunning, and hits all of Brendan's buttons. There is bullying within the football team, Brendan's family not being aware of his being gay, and Randy dealing with his sister's crappy parenting, so we have a lot to take in.
Brendan's first kiss with a man was up against the wall with Randy, and rocked both their worlds. Yummy hot sexiness with these two. It's all new to Brendan, who never had the opportunity to experience a relationship with a man. Now, with Randy, he wants it all. Now that his family and friends know, his life is getting better. You'll have to see what happens here, I won't tell !
I liked this tale of "coming out", the acceptance, forming family, finding friendships and realizing true love.
Highly recommend. ENJOY !!!

I will pretty much read any m/m romances Charlie Richards writes, even though her writing is amateur and sometimes unsatisfying. It's like a drug. I don't know why I do this.

Oh well.

Three Point Tuck is the story of a black, former football player turned high school football coach, Brendan Gateman, who meets a white paramedic, Randy Coughlan, when Randy and his partner work as volunteer paramedics during one of the first high school football games of the season. Randy is out and proud, but Brendan is still deep in the closet.

When Brendan and Randy cross paths, it’s clear that there’s a physical attraction, but Brendan would never make a move fearing the repercussions that would follow. Brendan has never been in a relationship with a man but he’s had seedy encounters, which he deeply regrets. He’s at the stage where he’s still coming to terms with his feelings and his attraction to men. Randy is under the assumption that Brendan is straight but they both attend a barbeque thrown by one of the parents of Brendan’s players and the story takes off from there.

I had high hopes for this story. It starts off very strong and the writing is good but by the middle of the story, when the characters finally make it clear that they’re interested in taking things further, my interest waned. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the dialogue and the initial sex scene doesn’t captivate me. There’s a great deal more I’d like to say about the sex scene but I honestly don’t wish to spoil it for those who are interested in reading. However, the shower scene between Brendan and Randy is hot.

I’ve read my fair share of M/M stories but this one simply doesn’t do it for me. In some instances, the storyline becomes a little too farfetched. I understand that in romance novels fantasy is intertwined as part of storytelling but a good dose of realism works for me. I also believe that it would have been beneficial if a bit more time was spent on editing. There are occasional grammatical errors, but nothing egregious. I think Charlie Richards is a talented writer. I was engaged and as I stated previously, I had high hopes that the story would take off.

Three Point Tuck may be a worthwhile read for some, but it just doesn’t hit the spot for me.

To be honest, I was kind of disappointed with this. Why? I felt like some of the plot lines were dropped.

I just felt there was too much going on. It would have been fine though if it were longer and each issue fleshed out and addressed more.

Oh and COME ON why is it every time I read a book with the name Candice in it, she's a bitch? I am getting a little tired of my name being associated with bitches ;) Oh and not sure of any adult who's name is Candice who likes the be called Candy that isn't a stripper. YIKES!

2.5 - 3 - 2.5 - 3 *indecisive*
There are at least three things going on here that would have sufficed to add drama and tension to the story. Brendan coming out. The bullying in the locker room. Randy trying to get custody of his nephew. It felt overwhelming to have all of them together, there just wasn't enough to this book to cover it all. Sadly, I was most interested in where things were going with the bullying in the locker room and that just sort of gets dropped. I wanted to see it go somewhere. I at least wanted to see Brendan coming out to his team or having a serious talk with his gay players, some kind of interaction. Nada. We could have skipped the nephew entirely, it was just overkill and insta-family, though I will admit that part of my dislike over that is an overload of "we must have kids to be fulfilled" stories lately.

Author seems to hit it on the nail every time in this particular series.. For me anyways. Sure there may be a few things that bothered or irritated me but really not much.

Again this isn't all about the sex. Deep in the closet (why???? I didn't really get the why besides possible family fallout.. one of my bumps in the road) this is more about a coming of age type even though these two are clearly adults. Once Bren decides to stop holding himself back and go for it.. really more romantic side then a sexual frenzy.

Funny how in each of these I kind of went into them not expecting a lot and even in book 3 it surprises me that I liked this.

Touchdown!

Randy and Brendan's story was wonderful from word one. How it was built, the people who were surrounding them and were there for them throughout and the acceptance of those closest to them just added to the story. I very much enjoyed this story and am hoping there will be more after the fourth one. If not, I will simply re read the four books again. I highly recommend this book.

This is my favourite of the Carry Me series so far. The romance between Randy & Brendan felt more realistic and natural than the first two stories. A good fast read and this one could easily stand alone. I look forward to reading more, maybe Coal & Patrick could get together?

I like this book the story kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happened until the very end. The characters in this book are interesting, they have back stories to them. I like the little bits you get to work out about them, that would give you an insight on how they would be as a couple.

Don't read if you don't like or believe in gay love!!!

I was expecting a better story that what I got here :-(

I really liked Randy and thought he'd be a much more vibrant character. There was something about Brendan that I didn't like. I can't really put my finger on it but it was there.

The plot with the football team and bullying pretty much disappeared not even halfway into the story. I felt Toby was younger than his eight years. At times I had to wonder if he was special. I hope that's not a bad thing to say or think.

If you're gonna go over to someone's house unannounced and use their spare key, wouldn't you ring the doorbell first? So what if you called and they didn't pick up. You had to have seen the two cars in the driveway. Well at least one car would have been in the driveway. Oh the contriveness of some plots!

Oh and Carl's partner, Ryan was back instead of Greg!

I would recommend that you stop after reading the first book Fireman's Carry.

The story started very promising, but there were too many different plot lines and unfortunately not all were dealt with.
Some were mentioned one or two times and then they were dropped without any reason.
I for one wanted to know what happened with the bullies in the team?! I wanted to see what happened when Brendan came out to the team and to his fellow teachers?
Then there's Randy and his nephew. That plot line alone had so much potential and drama...I mean Randy goes up against his sister to get custody of his nephew...and the whole plot line gets mentioned one time at the beginning and one time near the end, when that plot line is solved. Nothing in between! Randy having sex with Brendan for more than 20% of the book doesn't count!

This novella could have been great, if it were some 50 pages longer and more fleshed out.

Missing a complete ending

This was really enjoyable and I loved the tension of Toby's custody case. My only complaint is the author never addressed the coach's coming out to the team. I thought this was odd considering how much she pointed out that some of his players were homophobic. There was nothing mentioned about his student's reactions or anything. Not even an epilogue to explain this missing piece away.

Otherwise it was an excellent sweet story.

Good addition in this series

I thought that the declaration of love from Brendan came out of the blue. He and Randy hadn't really done much together at all up to that point and suddenly there were feelings that I didn't really think had a foundation, even from Brendan's thoughts, that the author tried to add in after the fact.

Despite that, I still have this book a fairly high reading because I do like the characters, both main and secondary, that make up this town.

This goes in the DNF pile. I mean the name changes with these characters is too much. Now Carl's partner is Ryan again. WTF, let's get it together please so we can enjoy these books without having to try and figure out if we're getting these characters right. It's a little confusing and let's face it, when we spend time trying to figure out who's who it takes aways from enjoying the book...

I didn't think this was book as as good as the first book but maybe because I didn't connect with the characters as much. There were some of the same issues as the first book which I thought a little redundant but it was entertaining.

Football and medicine

A great story and a mastery of a sex scene going through multiple chapters. Good build up of the relationship and tying up loose ends. Toby was important to story well handled

Read this one during my Hawaiian vacation in 2013. Remember really enjoying it, but don't remember enough to review.

Guess I'll just have to re-read at a later date! :)
