This is such a terrific series. I love it.

I will never get tire of the amazing characters on The League series. I swear I have never read a series with SO MANY main characters before this one. I love the companionship and constant feeling of acceptance between them all. While we constantly change from one character to another, you would never mix them up. Another thing I love about this series is that it only takes me a second to get into the story and remember every single detail of the previous installments, no matter how long I've read them.

This installment, while highly entertaining, left me craving for more. The world building and fictional aspects of the series were left aside. The crazy-familiar-trying-to-kill-them-all plot tends to get a little bit too old. I just think the first installments in the series were better, more original and complex. The author used to described more in detail the worlds, their traditions and the different species. I miss that.

Still, it's a great series and it's always amazing to keep up with this huge/crazy family.

Strong alone. Stronger together.

The League is one of my favorite series, ever. I fell in love with it from the first book. Even though I have not rated all the books from the series with 5 stars, they still left strong impression on me. It is mostly because of the world building and characters. I fell in love with all Sentella's members and their partners.

This book, though, requires that you have read all the books before - because every.single.character from Sentella appears in it, therefore, you might get lost with who is who. Not to mention the appearance of many Andarions, Phrixians and other human empires.

The thing is - from the moment i read about Andarions & Phrixians, I wanted to know more about their races and customs, being that they are different than humans. The customs of Phrixians were somewhat explained in Cloak and Silence, which i appreciated, but i still wanted more. On the other hand, this book really went into many details about customs of Andarion race, which i appreciated (and I weep because of some of the rules they have).

In any case, Born of Fury was a great addition to the series - and it had shown statuses of all characters from the earlier books - so basically, you can look forward to seeing all your favorite characters in one place, including the kids. Also, the beginning of the book was very misleading and it was nice seeing the horror on Nyk's and Maris' faces heheh.

Anyway, the only thing i'm lately being bothered with is the overuse of "how dare [he/she/they]"... I really don't understand it, it kinda loses the point if it's not said directly face to face, i guess? What was done in the past was done, and it's obvious that [he/she/they] dared to do it, right?

STORY :
____________________________________________

This time, the story's main leads are Dancer Hauk and Sumi Antaxas.

Hauk and his family have to go on one planet and do the ritual of Endurance, because it is the important custom for Andarion race. The point of the test is to survive on the planet for a month, without calling anyone and with minimum supplies. It is similar to test of courage, meant for the "children" of Andarion race to take it with their fathers. The Endurance this time is a test for Hauk's nephew Darice - son of Dariana and Keris, Hauk's deceased brother. Hauk, being his only recognized uncle, accepted the honor of being there for him. And Thia - Nykyrian's daughter - is also sent to help him with it.

What they didn't count on was finding an injured woman, Sumi, who was a League assassin, sent by the League's commander Kyr, to find out and gather informations on Hauk.

____________________________________________

CHARACTERS :
____________________________________________

Hauk :

Hauk is one of the most important Sentella members and one of the founders. He appeared from the very first book and he is Andarion. Being the only recognized child from his family, because his older brother died and because the other brother was disowned, he is forced to abide to many rules, and neither of them is good for him, or his sanity.

Hauk is, and always will be, one of my favorite characters from the League series, alongside Nyk, Darling and Syn (and well, Shahara, Kiara and so on lol). Anyway, he went through lot, and he suffered a lot, and I am glad he still stayed sane (unlike the breakdown Darling endured in his own book, after what he had been through.) Not to mention, i loved his sarcasm, his loyalty and how, well, great he was.

Sumi :

Sumi is one of the League assassins, sent on a mission to literally stalk Hauk and gather enough evidence that he is a member of Sentella. Because her 3 year old daughter is taken as a hostage, she doesn't have much choice. After truly meeting Hauk, Thia and Darice, she struggles with her loyalty towards the League, because of her daughter Kalea, and with thinking that Hauk is someone who doesn't deserve to be captured and tortured by Kyr.

At first, I wasn't sure whether I liked Sumi or not. In the end, I did love her, and most of the information on the Andarion race comes from the fact that she was very curious human being. She was strong and she had chosen the right path.

Darice and Thia :

Darice and Thia are one of the main characters as well. Darice is the son of Keris and Dariana, and he hates Hauk - mostly because of the lies Dariana told him. The thing is - Dariana blames Hauk for the death of her Husband, Keris, during Hauk's endurance. And for it, Dariana made Hauk's life as miserable as possible. At first, Darice was one of the totally annoying characters and pretty immature (well, considering he is 14 years old, well...), but he changed later on for better. For which I am very glad.

Thia is the first daughter of Nykyrian. While she is not the blood daughter of Kiara, Kiara still considers her as one of her own children. Since Nykyrian is from the royal and ruling family, Thia is a princess as well, but has no right to rule. Anyway, I enjoyed reading about her, she was cool, fun and amazing.

Everyone else :

Like I said before, all members of Sentella appeared in this book, and all of their families as well. Since most of them are royals, they are practically untouchable by the League, unless the League gathers enough evidence against them. But, Sentella already declared war on the League. Unless League is destroyed, there will be intergalactic war.

I really loved that everyone appeared (Darling and Syn still have a special place in my heart), i was especially glad to see the new members of their families. They sure were busy - there are tons of children and i can't even remember which child is whose.

On the other hand, there were also new characters which appeared - Bastien, for example, who will get his own book later on (i really liked him btw) and Maris' members of the family, including his father Zatyr, and brothers Zander, Madai and Safir. (He has a lot of siblings: Kyr Zemen, also head of the League; Zander Airidule, who is the Heir; Vadim; Valeri; Madai; Galeal; Draygon and lastly, Safir Jari, who appeared before ( i really liked him btw).

Another, very important character who appeared was Fain, disowned brother of Dancer's family. He was disowned because he loved a human, and because of that, he was considered outcast and had a pretty hard life as well +

Kyr, Prime Commander of the League was happy about the fact that the League pardoned Nykyrian when he left them. And he is also pissed off because Nyk had been the one who cost him his right eye. Now, driven by revenge, he wants to destroy the Sentella, no matter what. Ofc, he appeared before and he still continues to be a very serious enemy, not to mention that he is a total psycho .

Dariana, the wife of Keris, and mother of Darice, was totally (and i quote Thia) a "Queen Bitchtress". There is nothing good about her, considering that she is no better than Kyr. She blames the death of her husband on Dancer Hauk, and she wants him to suffer for it.

Overall, there was a wide variety of characters and i enjoyed reading about them.
____________________________________________

OVERALL :
____________________________________________

The League is great series. While some books hadn't left a askdjaksjd impression on me, most of them have. I can't wait to see more books about Sentella members, and from what I've gathered, next we will see Fain, Talyn Batur and Bastien in the main roles. I can't wait to read their stories.

As for this book, it was as strong as Born of Night, Born of Fire and Born of Silence. In other words, I really loved it and enjoyed in the story, characters and everything else.

(the more i read this review, the more i realized that i had written it mostly for me to remember for the upcoming books... well, that's not bad i guess)

3 Nice-ish Stars

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book from this series, and dipping back into the series with book 6 felt perfectly fine.

The world the author has created is an interesting one - assassins, cultural customs that may break hearts, betrayal and romance in the most unexpected places, should have led to a epically fabulous read, but I have to say whilst this was overall enjoyable, I didn’t find my attention potently ensnared as it was with the first 2 or 3 books in the series. There were moments in this read, where more depth, when it came to the depiction of emotions was needed, and character interactions needed to be less wishy-washy.

A nice enough one time read.

What's this? A tortured hero from Sherrilyn Kenyon that isn't beaten, battered, and betrayed a dozen times over to the point of overkill? Don't get me wrong, Hauk hasn't had it easy by a long shot. Not with a psychotic older brother, mother that blames him for not dying after surviving a fire that left him badly scarred (Andarion race likes their warriors to be the deadliest but no scars allowed!), and a sister in law, Dariana, that is conniving and malicious. His story hits you where it hurts yet unlike his predecessors, Hauk doesn't leave you drained and depressed and with this book clocking in at nearly 700 pages, I'm grateful.

Hauk is a founding member of the Sentella, an organization made up of the crème de la crème of bad asses and are the enemies of the twisted and corrupt League. Sumi is sent after intel to use against Hauk as a way for Kyr, League commander, to get revenge against Hauk's untouchable royal comrades. Sumi watches video of Hauk in action and knows accepting the mission is akin to suicide but no isn't an option with a precious life on the line.

Hauk is snarly, merciless towards his enemies, fiercely loyal to his friends, and a total softy when it comes to kids. While on a coming of age camping trip with his niece and nephew, picture less camp fires and scary stories and more harsh conditions and a brutal climb up a dangerous mountain, Hauk finds Sumi and saves her life. Hauk immediately recognizes her as a League assassin, which surprises me that he buys into the false story she gives as to why she happens to be in the same area as him. Kind of out of character for him and didn't feel quite right. The benefit of his acceptance is that it keeps the story moving and so begins their journey down a very bumpy road to happiness.

Sumi and Hauk both have a hard exterior that's reinforced by repeated betrayal and heartbreak but underneath that are two beings that want love, acceptance, and crave a future neither think is possible. The 'I love you' comes quickly yet the pace doesn't feel forced and by the end I was convinced their feelings are genuine and heartfelt. The romance is sweet and sad because neither are experienced with loving someone so much and working out their emotions and insecurities with them are some of my favorite moments.

Someone put a bounty out on Hauk but that's nothing compared to the his family. His mother sees his scars as a disgrace and is close to banishing him from his highly respected warrior family because Dariana publicly shames and wounds him each year after he's unjustifiably saddled with guilt of his brother Keris' death. Can you guess how they take the news he has fallen for a human after weeks before Dariana agrees to follow tradition and mate Hauk? Hauk's history and his screwed up version of a family made me respect him that much more simply because he survived it all. Sumi has no fear when it comes to protecting Hauk and happily cheered her on each time she came to his defense.

Fans of the series will be happy to know their favorites are back. How do I know who your favorites are? Because just about everyone who has played a role (the ones that survived anyways) is ready to lend Hauk support and fire power. Nyk and Kiara, Syn and Shahara, Caillen and Desideria, Darling and Zarya, Maris and Ture, and all their little wee ones show up to welcome Sumi to the family. Loved it. Seeing all my favorites again and how far they have come since their own books was such a fan girl thrill....for the most part. There are times it borders the line of cheesy and a couple scenes can only be described as cheese-tastic. Something that doesn't necessarily feel out of place in this book but looking at the series as a whole, it could have been toned down a bit without losing any of the sentiment.

Nitpicking aside, I absolutely enjoyed this book and think it will be best received by fans of the series. Plans are set into motion with Sentella and the alien nations that are allying against the League that will likely result in a bloody battle royale. I'm so ready for someone to lay a smack down on Kyr and his League. Oh and the fact that it's going to be Fain's book? Bring it.

Oh the League. I used to love you. Arguably more than the Dark Hunters, which I also used to love and now mildly have warm feels towards, I guess. It's complicated with both series now. I hoped this series wouldn't become really samey, like DH did, but alas. I wanted so much more for Hauk's book. Though I did like his and Sumi's relationship up until they left planet Arizona or whatever.

I am disappoint. Is it because this and the DH series were very nearly the first real para-romance I ever read, and since I've branched out and found other stuff, I find I don't like Kenyon's writing as much as I did when I started both series? Perhaps. I still get excited for her books though, because I always think it's going to be another Born of Fire or Night Play, and it never really is.

Except Born of Silence. That one was pretty legit.

But, here's the deal on why I two-starred this one: At this point, I feel like every relationship in this entire series revolves around how many babies they have/can produce. I mean really. I get it. You have babies. Your best friend has babies, like a million of them. You're all one huge happy family, and all of your babies get along great and we all have play dates and oh my god I had no idea what love is until I met you and had a baby, your baby that's not really mine but it is because you say so. BABY!

Oh and we're all ruthless space assassins and warriors and whatnot.

But... babies, guys. For reals.

So, just once can we have a leading pair who are like, hey, we just met and this is crazy, but how about we spend some time together, just you and me, fall insanely in love and explore the universe, because we have fucking spaceships, make special memories on every planet we go to, then maybe like 3 or 4 years down the line let's think about having kids when we're not major players in an interstellar war with literally A GUILD OF HIGHLY TRAINED ASSASSINS WHO WILL THREATEN ALL THE BABIES, maybe? (Yeah, I went there.)

This one also felt kind of phoned in a bit, especially near the end. When they were all trying on clothes and having a pool party in between their bases getting blown up and having to literally sword fight someone to win your husband or whatever.

I hold out hope for Nero's book, because that could be amazing if done properly, but I will absolutely roll my eyes at the herd of siblings and children which must somehow be included in his story as well. But Fain's book is next, and here's a spoiler for you: he's going to have his vasectomy undone. Sorry to ruin it for you.

BABIES!!!

For the best fictional bachelor pad the award goes to: Hawk ***** Clapping Wildly******
Yes, this character has the home of dreams with all the cherries on top. Why am I focusing on this? Read the book and visualize the dream, omg the shower. ~sigh~ I could live there with a Hawk.
If you are not up to date on this series you should be.
Hawk is massive, sexy and scarred by his past, and beaten by his present. He is trapped in unhappiness and celibacy. The hot hunk of a man is a virgin, and to change that would mean his death. He is forbidden to find comfort so he uses his energy to protect his family and friends, and he is ferocious. His life is threatened at the highest level when he runs into an assassin who is there to kill him.
His assassin is a woman, an attractive woman who stirs something inside of him. She is there by force, and will do what she has to do because someone she loves will die if she doesn't. It also helps that there are serious emotional scars flowing in her veins against the family Hawk. She is a survivor, a warrior, and a bit of a broken soul who will rip apart the life Hawk has built.
Yeehaw, another fun ride with S.K. and her League series. I had taken a break fro her writing for a year, but am thrilled to be back in the sexy hunky semi caveman program. There is a lot of alpha to absorb here as well as her other series I need to take them in small doses. I feel bruised and battered from all the wounds these characters received.
Great narration the reader brought the world alive

"Strong Alone. Stronger Together."

When Dancer Hauk takes his nephew Darice for his Andarion Endurance test that will bring him into manhood with his friend's daughter Thia, they stumble upon an injured young woman named Sumi who works as an assassin for the League who are one of the many races who have a bounty on the male's head. When Dancer falls in love with the assassin, he does what he can to protect his little mia and his family from the hunters that are after him. Can they stay safe and outrun the ones out for his blood or will they stand and fight with one who is born of fury? Read on and find out for yourself.

I enjoyed reading this book. I borrowed this from the library and it's a pretty good read. I have been a fan of the League series since I first discovered Sherrilyn Kenyon's books back in 2007 and this series is one of my favorites of hers. If you are into Space Pirates, aliens, action, adventure, and romance then this series is for you. I can't wait for the next installment of the series to come out so I can dive into their universe again. This one is one of my favorite books in the series now besides Born of Night.

This is probably my favorite of the series (tied with the next book, Born of Defiance). The storyline starts a few months after the previous book, Cloak & Silence.

Kenyon typically writes strong female characters, but I found Sumi particularly endearing here. Hauk has been a great secondary character over the previous books and it’s so great for him to get his HEA. With half of the book set on a mostly-deserted planet, and despite being with Darice & Thia, Hauk & Sumi have a lot of one on one time to get close. There’s a bit of a fated-mates type situation going on, but not anything that takes away from their decision to be together.

Once they meet up with the Sentella - it’s an awesome catch-up on all the characters. The banter between them all is always fun and Sumi fits right in. I love that “the big finale” fight scene centers around Sumi.

Throughout the book I appreciate the balance of action, suspense, romance. This is one I’ve listened to many, many times.

Fred Berman’s narration is great. He has distinct voice for all the characters and his handling of all the various emotional parts is spot on.

This is without doubt my favourite sci fi series bar none. Ms Kenyon is at the top of her game with an imagination and talent that few can emulate. Whilst this series is futuristic we are never bombarded with lots of technical details but just enough to enrich the world she has created Amazing world building and a storyline of good versus evil that never grows old. Add in her trademark alpha males with romance in spades and yes I'm a very happy reader.
This time it's Hauk the colossal Andarian warrior who steps into the spotlight. He has a truly awful backstory and unfortunately it's a past that still impinges on his present. He agrees to take his nephew on a quest but has no idea that his greatest enemies are closing in on him. When a mysterious injured female is discovered he realizes that she is an assassin but Sumi doesn't seem to want his life no her mission is far more nefarious than that!
I really enjoyed this story and boy is it a long one. Both Hauk and Sumi have survived things that would break others but they have come through strong and driven. Sumi is seeking her missing child whilst Hauk just wants to fulfil his duties.I loved honourable Hauk and although he has suffered so much he has so much to give. My heart ached for him but thankfully didn't break as sometimes this author pushes a little too far into darkness with her tortured heroes. A lot of Hauks suffering is caused by his own mother and I wasn't happy with how that played out in this book if honest but there is a joyous ending and most things got neatly tied up. The war between the League and the Sentella continues with obviously more to come but for this reader it's Neros story that I really want.

I think I've just outgrown her writing. It hurts me to say that since she was one of my first PNR favorites, and she truly paved the way for PNR to go where it did. But I'm just not into the so incredibly tortured characters. I mean...memories of Acheron, am I right?

I think it's time for me to move on.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is the queen of the tortured hero. I have to admit, I was a little worried where she would go next after the misery of Styxx, but I am happy to say she struck a much better balance this time around. This is Hauk’s story and we finally get to go beyond his hulking tough-as-nails exterior, to the warm and gooey center underneath.

Hauk has spent almost all of his adult life betrothed to a woman who hates his guts. Deandra was his brother’s wife and when he died, the customs of the Andarian people forced Hauk to offer himself to her. Unfortunately, she blamed him for Keris’s death and spread to her poison to Hauk’s entire family. Every year, he must offer himself again… and every year she hatefully turns him away. But she never completely releases him from his duty. So he remains bound to her, unable to even touch another woman, as she rejects him over and over again.

This year, though, she promises to finally accept his suit, after he mentors her son on his Endurance, a grueling right of passage for Andarian youths. Darice is a spoiled brat who knows only the vitriol his mother has spewed about Hauk for years. Fortunately, Nykyrian’s daughter Thia goes along for the ride, helping to balance the scales. It’s on this Endurance that Hauk crosses paths with Sumi, a League assassin on a mission to prove his ties to the Sentella. She bears him no ill will, but the League has her daughter, and if she ever wants a chance to get her child back, she must do as commanded. Of course, when she gets to know Hauk, it gets harder and harder to consider betraying him.

Hauk was a really good tortured hero, and unlike some of Kenyon’s characters, he wasn’t SO tortured that I wanted to stop reading. He wasn’t sexually abused, thankfully, but he’s been through a lot, both physically and emotionally. What helped balance this, though, was the connection he had to his friends in the Sentella. He has a support network. He has people who love him, but Sumi is really the first woman who has looked at him with desire. Remember, women are off-limits if he wants to maintain his honor and commitment to Deandra, so there is a great internal conflict he has going on about whether to allow himself a chance for that kind of connection. It helped create a pretty good tension that made the eventual love scene hot and satisfying.

I liked Sumi well enough, though at times she was almost too good to be true. She treated Hauk the way I wanted her to, though, and that went a long way to me getting on board with the romance. Kenyon really could have dragged out the deception of Sumi’s mission and I was glad that she didn’t. It kept the story development from being too predictable and it kept the plot moving. That’s no small task considering the sizeable length of the book. I really enjoyed the romance, the HEA, and how much Kenyon incorporated other League characters and their backstories into the book. She did a great job, not only reminding us of who these characters are, but their histories and connections.

There were times I felt she was a bit heavy-handed. The big theme here is on creating a family of the heart. I liked the sentiment and how it fixed something broken in the heroine, but the theme was almost run into the ground. I was also turned off by some of the repetitive language. If Sumi called someone “Sweetie” on more time, I was ready to set the book on fire. And “Gah” has to be one of Kenyon’s favorite words. She uses it ad nauseam. But if you can get past those little annoyances, I thought it was good. Sometimes a little trite, but enjoyable. Be prepared for a long read: It’s 668 pages. But I think it will be a hit with fans of the series.

The release of the latest League book is done at the time of a special anniversary. The first League book was released 20 years ago! And I for one am very happy the Ms. Kenyon has the time and opportunity to get back to this awesome series and expand on these wonderful characters!

Dancer Hauk is one of the founding members of the Sentella - an organization that has declared war - justifiably - on the League in the Ichidian Universe. He is also the last of his lineage and as such he is responsible for the rite of passage of his nephew, Darice. Sent off to a remote location on an Endurance challenge with Darice and Thia (his best friend's daughter), the group is suppose to survive the camping trip and come home with Thia and Darice having attained their "adulthood". But being who he is, he has enemies on his trail and assassins out to get him that can easily endanger the kids. One of those assassins is Sumi Anataxas, a League assassin with a personal grudge against Dancer and his brother Fain. Sumi is expected to deliver the necessary secrets that will destroy Dancer and the rest of the Sentella or face a mother's worst nightmare.

Unfortunately Sherrilyn Kenyon has fallen into a pattern of telling her readers everything instead of showing them anything. This book spent A LOT of time on dialogue, someone was ALWAYS saying something but there was never any action or character development of any kind. Of course, there was a tortured hero because all of her heros are tortured by some horrible person that betrayed them in the WORST possible way and the heroine is the only women in the whole universe that valued them as the wonderful, amazing and all other positive adjectives that they are.
So disappointed, I liked Hauk in the other books, and as a supporting character he was great, actually all of her characters are great until you get into their head and find out that they are all the same people.
Please write a new character.

This is absolutely one of my favorite series. I just love the world and all these badass damaged men. Hauk's always been of particular interest to me for some reason. I always loved his and Fain's interactions and I couldn't wait to see how the nasty Andarian was going to fall. Just like all the rest of the Sentella he's had some pretty nasty stuff in his past, and really it's all something he's still stuck in. Sumi is exactly what he needs to get him out of the land of pain and degradation and into the path of happiness, even if she is a League assassin sent there to betray him.

I really enjoyed so many elements of this story. I loved, of course, seeing how Dancer's friends all rallied around him. The entirety of the Sentella is just plain awesome. I adored seeing how much he cared about his nephew and the rest of the kids, and in his nephew's case in spite of how he's been treated by him. This story really brought home the message is family is the one we choose. Loved it!

Dancer Hauk is one of the founding members of the Sentella and one of the most fearsome fighters in the universe. However, back home he is considered deformed because of his scars and unworthy by his family. However, as the last adult male in his bloodline Hauk must take his nephew on his Endeavor, a hard core camping trip, but, Hauk is one of the most wanted men in the universe and a very powerful man wants him dead. Sumi Antaxas was conscripted to the League after killing her boyfriend in self defense, she has now become one of their top assassins, and there is one thing she would kill, destroy and maim for, her child. Taken away as soon as she was born Sumi will do anything to give her a safe life, including take out the more ferocious male she has ever seen…Dancer Hauk.

Want me to like a book? Stick in an alien hero over six and half foot tall with fangs and I am blissed out. Although technically Hauk isn’t a vampire, he sucks no blood although his species considers human flesh a delicacy, he is firmly in the Space Vampire category and is there to stay and be worshiped by me. Hauk has frequently appeared in the previous books in this series, but I had no idea that his book would turn out to be my favourite, he hasn’t stuck out for me like some of the other characters.

As with all Sherrilyn Kenyon books, both the hero and heroine have horrific pasts and wounded souls, I admit, sometimes I get a little exasperated with the ridiculously over the top melodrama that is ever present in her books. But then I read about my sexy Space Vampire and get over it, however, I look forward to the day when maybe one of her characters will be well adjusted and their body untouched by torture. However, the melodrama does really show you how perfect Sumi and Hauk were for one another, I can’t deny how in love they and how sweet it was.

There was also plenty of action in this book, Hauk was on some kind of extreme-camping-coming-of-age gig with his young nephew and was also being chased by a horde of assassins and mercs. This made the book exciting and full of danger as well as romance and is also one of the reasons that is now one of my favourite books in the series. This book also featured a lot of the characters from the previous books coming to Hauk’s aid, enabling us to revisit them after their HEA and see them still just as happy and in love. It was also touching to see just how close all the characters were and see them all come together and show their depth of their friendships with one another, they really were one big happy family.

Another fantastic book in this series and I cannot wait to see what happens next and whose book will be next. The League is one of my favourite series and if you haven’t picked it up yet, then you need to give it a try.

There's a reason I'll travel hours and hours to stand in line to meet Sherrilyn Kenyon in person or purchase one of her books without even looking at the content blurb or price. She's that good at providing a well rounded reading experience that I'm an addict and NEED my fix whenever/however she releases a new book.

So many times a character in a series who I take an extra special liking to becomes a disappointment when they eventually are featured in their own installment. Such was my worry about Hauk. He was big. He was bad. He was kick ass scary and I loved him as a fantasy fictional boyfriend. There couldn't be a fictional female who would ever be good enough for my man so this book would be probably be just another case of let down when some bimbo latched onto Hauk. Surprise, surprise. Not only was this over the top satisfying and delicious. It was more. Reaffirms my belief that Ms. Kenyon can make a silk purse out of anything she touches.

As this is a brand new release I'm not going to say much about the actual content and my likes/dislikes. The book blurb is enough to give any potential reader the basics. What I will say is that this isn't a standalone. Characters from previous installments are featured in more than a cameo fashion so knowing their back stories is important to appreciate this current one. The core romance between Hauk and Sumi isn't the primary focus of the storyline but fans of this author already know she is multi talented enough to balance action/adventure/suspense/angst/conflict/abuse/good vs evil/etc etc etc. in her works.

Does it seem like I'm gushing? If not I haven't been clear enough then. I loved this book and can't wait for whatever book in whatever series that is next to be released by Sherri. :D

I really enjoy reading SciFi Romance, but I have found few that I've loved. Of the ones I have found The League is my favorite. I love Hauk and Sumi's story. I've been hoping Hauk would get his own book since his first appearance. Secondary character Thia is pretty bad ass. I hope she gets her own book. Like the books before it, Born of Fury is sexy, heartwarming and dangerous. An excellent read.

I highly recommend this series. The League is quite an intricate world with amazing characters. If you're wanting to check this series out, definitely start at the beginning with with Born of Night.

Born of Fury is narrated by actor, Fred Berman. He does an excellent job bringing all the members of the Sentella to life. Each one unique.

One of my Favorites in this series

I absolutely love this book. It is one of my favorite books in this series so far. I get pulled into it so far that hours feel like minutes. The way this author writes such depth in each of her characters is rivioting. I can not wait to read the next book.

I love the world and I love the characters. However, I could never settle in this book. I was always trying to figure out or remember who everyone was. It is a good but I was distracted from the romance which is what I love the most.

Another great addition to The League world.  Dancer finally gets his HEA!

Born of Fury picks up a few months after Born of Silence and Cloak and Silence.

I’ve noticed that the blurb is very vague so I’m going to give a very brief synopsis of the plot:

In true Andarion custom, in order to become an adult, one must complete an Endurance:  six weeks of roughing it on the hostile planet of Oksana with a close adult male relative.  Dancer’s Endurance was a disaster and now he is taking Darice, his 14 year old nephew on the journey.  Kyr Zemin, the League’s prime commander, sends his assassin Sumi Ataxas to gather intel on Dancer and bring him into League custody.  But things don’t go quite as planned…

The Romance:  There was plenty of good sexual tension between Dancer and Sumi; I loved them as a couple together even though they got a little sappy there in the end.  I always love a good forbidden lovers story and here there were many reason why they couldn’t be together.  Of course they eventually both gave in and decided to face the consequences later…even though those consequences would be death.  Their I-can’t-be-with-you drama didn’t last for long.

The Andarion Customs:  I think all the Andarion aspects were my favorite parts of the book:  from the importance of lineage to their vanity to stralen males.  I thought the pledging and unification process was unique to this story, even though I hated what Dariana and Dancer’s family were doing to him.

The Action:  There were some good fight scenes, but not as many as I had hoped for.  Sumi was a League assassin and one badass female, and Dancer was a giant War Hauk that smashed anything that got in his way.  The Sentella guys were there, but only for about half the book.  Gotta love ‘em.

The Story Telling:  There were tooooooo many stories being told!  Especially stories about Dancer and his past with his family and the other members of the Sentella.  I mean, I liked knowing his history and hearing about the other characters when they were younger.  But when there was practically a “time out” in the middle of a fight scene and even in the middle of a sex scene to tell some kind of story…that’s just TOO MUCH!!  And really made the book drag on forever.

The Children:  There was too much happening with all the kids.  All the characters from previous books and their children showed up in the second half and more stories were being told.  It was cute at first but it really slowed down the pace of the book…where it should have felt urgent.

What’s next?  Looks like it will be Fain’s story.  From how the blurb reads and the tiny hints that were dropped in this book, I can’t wait to read it.  Also, I’m dying for Bastien to get a book.

3.5 Stars

The lastest in Kenyon's League Series

Okay I know at first glance it looks like a realy big, thick book..okay so it's only 678 pages but after you start reading all those pages just fly by. (The time as well...shh don't tell the hubby I stayed up half the night to finish it.)

Definatly not as dark/extreamly gray as some of the previous League books. You get some awesome battle, fights and survival scenes along with some sexy ones and a bunch of heartwarming ones. So a mixture of never ending reading fun. Okay so it may drag a tiny bit in the begging but that doesn't last long and the character interactions were great. Even I wanted to reach through the book and slap Dare. Even shook my head at Thia and Darice squabbling becuase I have younger sibling and totally remember those times. Althought Andarions are a little okay alot more blood thirsty and violent than we were.

Sorry, got ahead of myself. This can be read as a stand alone novel but it is best if read previous League novels, with the exception of the league generation novel which deal with the children that are babies/little ones in this book. Yea confused me too, but I digress and return to the here and now. Anyhoo if you have read previous books then you get to rejoin all your fav characters which show up about halfway through. If you have not..then you may get lost with the size of the "family'..it's huge. Lot of names.

This book is Dancer Hauks book. This very scarred Andarion male can take a beating and keep on kicking time and time again. If his life isn't complicated enough, with enemies trying to kill him, bounties on his head, and a nephew that hates him as well as the fact he is promised to a women that has does anything than make his life easy. The fates or rather Kry sends Sumi, an assasin, to take down Hauk.
Now the fun begins. Posionings, fighting, action, sex, secrets, more fighting, a couple near death or at least badly injured spots, some happy times and so much more await.

Born of Fury was simply amazing! I loved getting to know Dancer "Hauk" and Sumi, and revisiting all the past characters. I love how the Sentella have formed their own family, and how they always have each other's back. It was so funny when Sumi went to assassinate the woman that tried to kill Hauk, and then all his friends started showing up because they also wanted to avenge him. And the way Hauk defended Sumi was incredible. They're way out-numbered, and Sumi got shot in the arm so Hauk goes a little crazy and runs out of the room to take on about twenty assassins by himself. Sumi's hoping that crazy move doesn't get him killed and quickly follows, only to find that he has already killed them all. I'm sure the fact that they were human and Hauk was Andarion helped, but whew, don't mess with his woman! I also loved Thia in this book. She's really growing up and I can't wait 'till she gets a book of her own. I was amazed at how much Darice grew up during "The Endurance." It was great to see him stand up to his evil, bitch mom at the end. Sumi's young daughter really added to the story, as well. She adjusted to having a family very quickly; some might say too quickly. But, you have to remember that she was only 3, and had made up pretend parents that turned out to be exactly like Hauk and Sumi. With it being such a perfect fit, of course she was thrilled, rather than hesitant, when Hauk came to rescue her. Born of Fury was awesome, and I can't think of one single thing that I would have changed. Kenyon is a genius with her writing!
