This was an interesting mystery that didn't have a murder, but it made up for it with some really awesome characters. I just loved Gracie Parks, the main sleuth. She was such a sweet lady and didn't make anyone feel like she suspected them of a crime when she questioned them. I liked that the young pastor's parents had adopted a little orphan girl from the Honduras where they'd been serving on a mission.
This is an older series which featured different authors, and this was the first book written by this particular author. I might have to read some of the older ones to get some back stories on the characters, but I'm really not crazy about large print which is what most seem to be done in. None of them are available digitally from what I could find.
A very enjoyable book in my opinion! The characters were well-developed and the situations were believable. Faith was woven and presented in a non-religious manner throughout.
Although the mystery was a moderate, enjoyable but not fantastic read, I was very impressed with the characters as they were developed in this book. They were such real people ... not the impressive heroes of many books, but very down-to-earth, everyday people, with all the same faults, and talents, that the people around me actually have. I really enjoyed the characters.
