A teenage boy struggles to make sense of his world in this twice published, 2,000-word short story. "Once Lush Fields" appeared in the June 1995 issue of Raconteur and again in the Spring 2004 issue of the Schuylkill Valley Journal of the Arts. The story was even turned into a short film by a film student.
