Quick little read that's probably better enjoyed in a cozy chair with a blanket and hot cup of tea/cocoa/coffee than in the car where I read it.
Very cute, cozy, low-stakes retelling, with lots of whimsical descriptions, and I enjoyed the Black representation. And while it may be a little anachronistic to have soul food in a medieval/fantasy tavern, this is a fantasy world I would love to be in.

This is the type of book I would read while in a rocking chair. It was cute, cozy and lovely. I enjoyed the characters and didn’t want it to end. Five stars for me.

Short and sweet! I love a good retelling and this one did not disappoint. I only wish there was more!

May 9, 2025I appreciate when an author keeps their books short particularly romance, but there were a lot of holes in this story. The power dynamic of the kingdom, reason for exile and importance of several characyers wasn't fully explained.
I liked that the male lead crochets. It's Cute and unique for a male character to have this hobby! Way to break the gender stereotypes!
The romantic connection is almost out of nowhere. The two are spending time together and are very formal due to the circumstances. What IMO seems like a very small crush very suddenly leads to them risking everything to be together. Very insta-love
Aesthetics of the physical book are beautiful. I prefer its geen cover to the digital version. There are also images of the castle to mark the different chapters
