“Trust me.”

Wick Tate’s never heard these words so much in her life. And with all her secrets, who can she really trust?

There’s Milo, her new hacker boyfriend, who’s keeping a dark secret of his own. Griff, the ex who’s always had her best interests at heart but who mostly wants to stay out of Wick’s mess. There’s Looking Glass, an organization that can supposedly offer Wick protection…and a future.

And then there’s her family. They should be easy to trust, right? Not if you’re Wick. Not when “family” means so many different things, including a criminal father who may not stay locked up for long.

Wick is used to relying on herself…and only herself. But she’s going to have to learn to trust someone if she’s going to finally escape her demons...

I have loved this series from the very beginning with all its danger, chaos, twists and turns and Wick is the very best part of it all. But even I have to admit, that with this latest, this last, installment, Bernard outdid herself. It was, simply put, brilliant.

Wick has grown so much from the timid headstrong girl of Find Me. She is still very much damaged, still very much in danger and still very much as smart and cunning as ever. And even though she has grown a lot as a character, there was still room for growth and Bernard did that with her. Wick is one of my all time favorite female characters in a role like her's.

She never back down from a fight or a challenge and she would literally, do anything to protect those she loves. She is brave in every single of the definition of the word. Don't get me wrong, she is scared, sometimes so much so that it paralyzes her but she still does what needs to be done without flinching, without thinking about what it will mean for her later one. She follows her instincts and her heart and she is always better because of it.

It is always bittersweet saying goodbye, but if I had to choose how to say goodbye to this amazing cast of characters and to Wick especially, this was the way I would have wanted to do it.

This was everything I was hoping it would be and then went beyond that. I can't tell you how nice, how satisfying it is to get a great finale to a fabulous trilogy like this one has been. Bernard gave her fans everything we could have asked for while still making it very much realistic to not only the characters and story, but to the real world as well.

I'm so very glad I discovered this series and that I took the time to read it and to fall in love with it.

Trust Me by Romily Bernard is a book I have impatiently been waiting to get my hands on since I turned the last page of Remember Me. When I was able to chase down a copy at ALA this year I had two choices. I could read it right away and find out what was going on with some of my favorite characters or I could hold out because this is the last book…once I finished this book that was going to be it. So…I forced myself to wait at least until it was closer to the release date. Anyway, this book was everything I was hoping it would be and if you haven’t started this series, you really need to correct that.

If you recall, there were things that happened in Remember Me that didn’t make me happy (Read: GRIFF) and I didn’t really know what Bernard was going to do to me with this book. As the story picks up, Wick is being presented with an opportunity (although she might not think so immediately) that could change her life and protect her family. All she has to do is trust the people who run the organization called Looking Glass.

Looking Glass helps kids just like Wick to hone their computer skills, build a resume, and create a life that will give them security. As Wick is pulled into this organization, she still doesn’t know who she can trust and she finds herself in the middle of a situation that puts her and her family at risk. I loved how fitting this title was for Wick and her situation.

There is such a great mix of characters in this story. Wick has been a favorite of mine since I read Find Me and she has absolutely grown through these books. She cares about the people that are important to her and will do whatever she has to in order to keep them safe. I loved how, at its core, Wick’s relationship with her sister Lily never changed – they loved each other and wanted to do whatever was necessary to save/protect each other. Wick’s personality is also one that makes me love her – she is a great blend of smart and sarcastic and while she doesn’t always do what I think she should do, she does things for the right reasons.

I am only going to spend a little bit of time talking about Milo here. If you recall, he is now Wick’s boyfriend (NOOOOOOO) and there’s no question – he is interesting. I can’t say much about him and his role here because I don’t want to give any bits of the story away but we do get to learn more about him. He also comes through for Wick when he needs to so I can’t hold things against him…not really. I think that the reason Wick is drawn to him is that they are similar and ultimately she wants something better for Griff than what she can offer him.

Now I get to talk a bit about Griff. I was worried we wouldn’t see enough of him in this book but let me tell you…don’t worry. If you don’t remember all the reasons why I love him, go check out my previous reviews. I’m pretty sure I spend a good portion of each review waxing poetic about all of his swoony parts and I’m not ashamed. When Griff comes back into the story, he does so in a way that shows he still cares about Wick regardless of how things went for them in the last book.

So much happens in this book and there are a lot of twists and turns. There are new and old characters who add so much to the overall story and I loved it. The story that Bernard has written will have you turning the pages until the very end as the mix of characters and motives will have you guessing until the end about what really is going on. There is quite a bit of mystery and suspense in this entire series and this book definitely doesn’t stray from that. In the end I thought Bernard did a fantastic job of creating these characters and building out the story around them. As I turned the last page of this book I found myself happy with the way things ended for Wick. Then I also started to think…maybe Bernard isn’t really ending things. I know this is a final book but based on the ending, there’s room for more…and I would welcome more stories with these characters. Please take my word for it, you should be read this book (and series) as soon as you can! I will definitely be looking for more from Bernard in the future

The entire time I was reading this, I couldn't help but thinking: "Wow. This badly wants to be a sicfi novel."

I mean, here we are. Wick has been kidnapped and inducted into this shady, quasi-government agency that recruits young* hackers and uses them for nefarious purposes and someone literally said: "You looked into the dark and it looked back at you. You know this."

Does this not read as a contemporary that really, really, really wants to be scifi to anyone else?

Regardless, there were some things that just did not work for me. At all. SPOILER ZONE.

SERIES REVIEW

Essentially, my base problem with this entire series, is that there is no foreshadowing. This is ostensibly a mystery series, but there is no way for the reader to latch on and participate and guess who the killer is, because there are never any clues pointing to the real culprits, only red herrings, which I understand is a trope of mystery novels (and, mind you, I am in no way the end-all and be-all on mystery novels. My experience with mystery novels is this series and one Agatha Christie) but there should also be hints pointing towards the real culprit so that a savvy reader of mystery might be able to guess accurately what's going on.

...And there's not. No foreshadowing. Also, the only two characters throughout the entire series who felt real to me were Wick and Bren, Everyone else felt like abstract concepts of characters--Griff, the angsty boyfriend, Tessa, the ex-best friend, Carson, the dirty cop who thinks he's a good guy, Todd, the inexplicable rapist, Ian, the socially awkward rich boy who, despite his social awkwardness, plans to murder his father perfectly.

It was just really hard for me to grasp anyone's motivations and a lot of it rang false.

On the other hand, the writing is beautiful, and Wick is wonderfully complex, and I still mightily enjoyed this series.

*For some unspecified reason, it's very important that the hackers are young. Probably the Hollywood possibilities, but I'm just guessing.

Wicket Tate.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! This series just gets better and better. It was sooo freaking good! I can't believe how fast pace it was. It was like a roller-coaster. The mystery behind Looking Glass! Awesome! I couldn't decide if they were good or not, kept me guessing... I loved Wicks internal debate on if she was a good or bad person. She really beat herself up this time. As soon as she got out of looking Glass it was like balls to the walls amazing! Everything just went nuts and then boom! Big explosive ending!

Wick Quote

Find Me (#1) and Remember Me (#2) were two amazing books but I have to say this has been my favorite in the series. As we delve back into the world of Wick, we get to see more of her hacker side. We have moved away from the murder investigation plot and into a world of cover ups, criminals, manipulators, and business conspiracies. It's an action packed eye opener that really makes you see everyone in a new light, including Wick. We really see her vulnerable side as she questions all the decisions she has made. Did she do right by her family? Did she do right by Griff or Milo? Did she do right by herself? And exactly what role does her father play? There are so many twist and turns but then it slows down with little sweet moments. I couldn't put the book down! It really was an amazing ending to the series, so so happy!

"How do you find your way when you can't see through the shadows"

The sweet and wonderful Griff some how just got more amazing. The little glimpses that we get with him were a delight. I love him so much! He cares so much about Wick and he is the only one that truly gets her. He's her rock. He's her guiding light in the shadows. I couldn't be more happier with the way their story ends. (Maybe if we had a little more sexy time LOL)

I know all of my broken places now. It used to be something I was ashamed of, but now it shows me what I want"

The ending! OH MY GOSH THE ENDING! As I was reading I couldn't help but keep track of my pages. It was thrilling right up till the final page where it ended with a bang. LITERALLY! I was blown away. But I was also so happy. All I could do was grin because it fits so perfectly. Romily really blew me away with Trust Me. Make sure you don't miss out on it!!

**Side note: The title, Trust Me, is so perfect! It completely sums up every relationship, every moment and every choice in this book. It's just AWESOME!

A wholly satisfying conclusion to a trilogy that might just make it to my favorites list. Wick is a fiery character you just can't help but love, despite the flaws that only make her human. This book goes from the realm of small-town mystery to government conspiracy without even batting an eye, giving us readers both surprise and delight. Fast-paced, hold-your-breath, and just plain awesome - Trust Me is an incredible ending you won't want to miss.

Let me just start by saying that Trust Me is one of the best conclusions to a series I have ever read. Im serious. It was heart pounding, jaw dropping, edge of my seat awesome-sauce from beginning to end. So many series feel drawn out, and their conclusions leave too many things unsettled. Trust Me is not one of those books. Now I'm not saying it ties everything up in a pretty little bow, because um excuse me but Wicked is too kick ass for that. If Wick goes down she does so swinging. One of my favorite things about Romily's books is that the plot changes, the big bads get bigger and things keep moving. Same character, same world, new challenges. So many books don't do that and they become boring and you feel like you're invested and so you have to finish it. As an obligation. Romily is smart enough to keep her characters growing, her plot moving and her readers guessing. Another thing I love about these books are the endlessly quotable lines. The dialogue is fast and witty and it makes me literally LOL sometimes.

Trust Me picks up exactly where Remember Me leaves off. From there it is one wild ride. Plot twists and alliances change and shift, it kept me guessing. I don't even want to give you an idea of what and who I'm talking about because I don't want to ruin the surprises. Just "Trust Me" (like what i did there? Im a dork..). I can't wait till you guys get to read this book. I can't believe i got to read this book..

Over the last few years I have developed a wonderful friendship with Romily that lives in the book universe. That means I am sometimes lucky to get to beta-read books before everyone else. Romily is such an amazing talent and I feel so lucky to have been able to feel like a part of Find Me's journey, no matter how small and insignificant it may have been. She is truly a gifted writer and sweet girl and I can't wait to see what she will write next!!!!

Bottom Line: YOU NEED THIS BOOK

Personal Response
I liked this book a lot. It was interesting the whole time and kept me on my toes. The one thing I did notice was that the author likes the word "leverage" a lot. Considering how an average teenager talks, using the same word over is definitely normal.

Plot
Wick, the computer hacker, comes home after solving a murder to find a man talking with her mom. The man, who was called Hank, wanted to take Wick to a special place for trouble teens that are computer geniuses. After getting to the facility Wick was given jobs to improve hacking skills. But, before any jobs were given she needs to pass a test. The test was to hack into a medical device and turn it off and on as many times as Dr. Nordstrom said.(Dr. Nordstrom was Wick's counselor who just happened to be the owner of that organization.) After passing the test and getting to do jobs that involve hacking there are scandalous things going on. Wick finds that she accidentally killed a judge by turning on and off his pacemaker when taking that "test", her father broke out of prison, and that her boyfriend Milo is Dr. Nordstrom's son. To top all of her problems she learns that Dr. Nordstrom is running a scam and that Wick's dad took 11 million from her. Wick finds a way to solve everything by turning herself in and with the help of Griff her used to be ex boyfriend.

Recommendations
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about scandalous things. This book would probably be for ages 14 to 24 because of mature content and how the book is written.

I feel like I need to reread before I can give you the best review possible, so consider this a placeholder. Blessedly, rereading Romily Bernard never gets old because she just keeps getting better. Her prose and pacing fly gracefully, and I love Wick's special blend of snark. I'm normally not a big fan of the love triangle, but Bernard makes it work as Wick has to decide between fellow hacker Milo and bad boy with the heart of gold, Griff. That last one sounds like a cliche. Okay, it kinda is a cliche, but Griff rises above my inability to word.

Then there's Looking Glass which was quite a fun complication. If you like snark and suspense with a side of romance, then Trust Me is just the book for you.

The author, Romily Bernard, reveals some important insight about trust and the meaning behind it. The author’s emphasis on trust sheds some light on relationships with others and how to keep a healthy bond and to have that trustworthy there. The author sets her work during putting the characters into situations needing trust. This is significant because it shows and explains to the readers and shows them what is needed behind trust. In my opinion this novel is eye opening. To me, it seems obvious that learning how to trust plays a big part in a relationship and it shows behind the scenes to keep a healthy bond. I feel the author was hoping for this book to reach out to the people that need to read this to comprehend what and why trust is needed. The character Wick Tates struggles with learning to gain her trust and that it’s okay to rely on people and to have hope. The character develops trust, this concludes that she can now have trust worthy towards others.

Such a good finale to the trilogy. Remember Me was a little frustrating (as most sequels are) but I found myself turning page after page with Trust Me. Bernard does a great job at making the reader second guess every character, which is appropriate given the title is literally called Trust Me. I think this is the most suspenseful one out of the three. Really enjoyable and filled with twist after twist.

I so enjoyed this the third book in the Find Me series with protagonist Wick Tate . I am thinking might be as far as Wick will go. It's been a pleasure reading such fantastic writing by Bernard. One hell of a writer! This story had all the characters from previous books. They ended up the way I figured they would. as they should. Enjoy.

Quick & Dirty: Gripping mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I highly recommend this series to all mystery/thriller fans!

Opening Sentence: Is it still kidnapping if your mom lets them take you?

The Review:

Wick Tate has had trust issues pretty much her entire life. She was raised by a father who was a con man and her mother was always afraid to stand up to him. The only good things that came from her crappy childhood are her amazing little sister and her ability to hack into computers. She is a very accomplished hacker and she has been able to use her talents to make her some extra cash she may need in the future. But over the last few years Wick has stumbled into some pretty crazy situations and she has had to do some things that she’s not proud of. So far she has been able to escape getting caught by the law, but she knows that her luck isn’t going to last forever.

Then Wick is offered the chance of a lifetime. Looking Glass is an organization that specializes in helping wayward children, who happen to have amazing computer skills work in a safe environment. They can use their abilities legally and start to build resumes that will eventually allow them to get good jobs doing something they are passionate about in the future. The only problem with Looking Glass is that it seems too good to be true and Wick doesn’t know if she can trust the people that run the program.

Wick has always had trust issues, but if she wants to turn her life around and get back on track she is going to have to learn to trust herself and others because she won’t be able to do it alone!

From the very first moment I met Wick I instantly adored her and my love for her has just grown through each book. She is obviously wicked smart and extremely resourceful, but she is also just a young girl trying to figure out how to live her life. For years she was forced to work for her horrible father and in some ways that blurred the lines between right and wrong for her. It was interesting to see her outlook on life and how her experiences have shaped her as a person. She is actually a very compassionate person and she would do anything for the people she loves, but she also has a dark side to her personality. I loved how dynamic she is and she’s an amazing heroine!

Milo is one of the love interests in the book and I really like him. In many ways he is just like Wick but I felt like he had less guts then Wick. Deep down I believe he is a good person, but it was harder for him to stand up to others. He would rather take the easy route versus doing the right thing. His relationship with Wick was sweet and in many ways they were really cute together. But I felt like they had a slightly destructive relationship because they tended to bring out the worst in each other.

Griff and Wick have known each other for a long time now. They grew up in the same neighborhood and have always been friends. Griff is one of those people you can’t help but love and admire. He came from nothing but he has built a life for himself and he just projects his all around goodness onto everyone he comes into contact with. His relationship with Wick is complicated but so amazing. He has never asked her to be someone she’s not and he is always honest with her. They also have great chemistry together. I’m not going to lie, I have been Team Griff from day one and my opinion on that still stands after finishing this story.

Trust Me is a suspenseful, action packed mystery that will keep you turning the pages until you are finished. I loved the first two books in this series and this one was just as good as its predecessors! The pacing was spot on, the plot was very intriguing and full of surprises. The romance was developed perfectly and totally swoon worthy. The mystery was gripping and definitely keeps you interested. The characters are loveable and easy to relate too! As you can tell I have loved this entire series and I am so sad to see it come to an end, but thankfully Bernard did a wonderful job tying up all the loose ends. I really look forward to see what she comes out with next. If you are a mystery or thriller fan you MUST pick up this series. I guarantee you will love every minute of it!

Notable Scene:

“Are we being followed?” I ask.

Hart considers me. “I want to lie and say no … but somehow, I think that would be a very big mistake with you.”

A tiny part of me likes Hart more for recognizing this. It would be a mistake because I could never trust him again. But I don’t get the chance to tell him anything because just as I open my mouth, an SUV slams into us

FTC Advisory: HarperTeen provided me with a copy of Trust Me. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

Wick Tate has been an idol since I've started this series. I love this girl to pieces. She's a hacker, a genius and the type of person that will do anything and everything to get herself out of trouble. The girl has WICK in WICKED for a reason. Although she may be genius, she has her flaws. Even if these come in handy at times. Sometimes her lack in trust is on point. Who would blame her? Wick was raised by a father who is a con man and had a very unhealthy childhood. From her early ages, her father was a very bad influence. Which is another thing to admire her for. She may do things illegally, but it doesn't make her the bad person. She actually tries to help others in need. She just does things the way she knows... which happens to be the illegal way.

In Trust Me, Wick is given a lifetime opportunity. But like I'd mentioned before, she is terrible at trusting. Looking Glass may be a great opportunity for Wick to better her future, a world in which she can do things legally, but the girl thinks something is wrong. Her curiosity got the best of her and Wick will dig. It's too good to be true. As she takes matter in her own hands, things get a little crazy.

Trust Me is a good way of ending this series. It's not my favorite of the series. However, it had its jaw-drop moments but there were many were the pacing would slow. I know, I am very impatient! Yet this whole series is really good. It's full of mystery, action and it contains wicked computer tricks. Nonetheless, the best part of this series is Wick herself. She is a character to admire. As the story continues, Wick grows and learns from her mistakes. She's willing to help others and admit when she's wrong. In Trust Me, she learns to open up and trust in the people that care for her. I am glad I gave this series a try and learn many tricks from Wick!

So I put this book on my library holds list not knowing it was a third in a trilogy. Thankfully I figured that out before I left the library and was able to grab a copy of Find Me that day and have Remember Me transferred a few days later. I'm so thankful I did because this series is fabulous! And I'm really, really thankful that I didn't discover it until after the last book was out because if I had read Remember Me when it came out a year ago, the wait for Trust Me would have been absolute torture. As it is, I allowed myself to be spoiled about a few things going into Trust Me, and even knowing what I did, I was still on the edge of my seat until I turned the last page at about 1:30 this morning.

What's not to love about this series?

The story is delightfully twisty (side note: I "figured out" the bad guy in books one and two fairly early on, but I still spent the rest of the book trying to figure out if I was right. Same thing for book three and the spoilers I read - they were enough to give me a heads up about a few things, but not enough for me to put all the puzzle pieces together).

Wicket Tate is an achingly vulnerable, wonderfully complex protagonist. Her internal struggle between her desire to be good and her belief that she was destined to be evil was beautifully handled and honestly refreshing. And because of that, the love triangle worked...even though it shouldn't have.

And Griff? I think he's officially made my list.

This was definitely the best book in the series...I found the first book a little far fetched at times, though the ending really captured my attention and left me wanting more. The second book, I thought, was even more suspenseful and really had me excited for book #3. But Trust Me ended up being even more than I could have hoped for. Everyone's motives finally made sense to me, my questions were answered, and it was all so beautifully thought out and executed that I wish I could read even more about Wicket Tate. I'm gonna be honest and say that I almost completely despised her character in the first book. Though she experienced so much trauma, I didn't like the choices she made or the way she treated people. But I've grown to like and understand her, and what more could I ask for? Her character development was so thorough and touching, and I'm so happy that I decided to stick with this series.

*My Thoughts*

Sometimes you make the choices, and sometimes the choices makes you."

Trust Me, by author Romily Bernard, is the third and final installment in the Find Me trilogy featuring hacker extraordinaire Wicket (Wick) Tate. Wick used to run a business tracking down cheaters for money, now she has to worry about keeping herself out of prison and staying alive. After Agent Hart gave Wick information on how her mother really died, Wick found herself tracking down her killer and making sure he got what was coming for him. Yet, she still doesn't really trust anyone and the way things have gone, nobody can really blame her.
