God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called!
By being open to what God has shown them, this Christian quilting group comprised of 7 women make a huge difference in the lives of their neighbors, changing both the givers and the takers.
You need to read this book if you've ever wondered if God works personally in our lives - who do I mean by 'our'? Women like me - a wife and mother, homemaker, dinner-fixer and laundry-doer. Do you love quilting or sewing like I do? God has given us that love for fabric and quilts, and we can use this gift to bless other people in our lives.

Morningshine takes that idea to a new level. Seven women, just like us, go on a God adventure right on their own front porch. Lives are changed and that's when things begin to happen. You can join in the adventure today!

Once a week, seven women meet and make quilts. They visit and share their lives with each other. Every one of them has their own set of problems and blessings at home. Carrie, the unofficial leader of the group is burdened by a secret she's kept from her husband for over twenty years. Eleanor is a timid woman and rarely says anything but her needle flashes with the best of them. Lydia is the first in the group to become involved with the Internet. Connie, whose marriage suddenly doesn't seem so secure anymore. Sisters Martha and Esther, both widows, but they both have different ideas about how they want to live out the rest of their lives. Gert, a cantankerous woman with strong opinions that back her into a corner she can't get out of with grace.

They are all Christians, but their Christian lives have never been lived out loud, in front of each other before. When God begins answering the prayers of a mother, hundreds of miles away, He uses all of these ladies. At the end of their street lives a dysfunctional family, trapped in poverty, drug and alcohol abuse.

As God moves in the hearts of these quilting women, things in that little house at the end of the street begin to change. At the same time, circumstances in their own lives change, but God is there with each of them, comforting, encouraging, giving grace and walking beside every one of them.

In their quilting they find opportunity to minister and bless others.

After you finish Morningshine, continue on the journey with Morning Glory, the second book in the series. Then, in the spring of 2016, the third and final book will be released.

Join me, won't you? :) Consider this your formal and personal invitation to join the thousands of other women who've fallen in love with all the ladies living on Spring Street.

A gentle novel

If you need something calming to read, this is it. When the quilting ladies decide to listen to God and pray together, God begins to work in their small community. Ordinary lives with a little romance, lots of pain and a great big dollop of God's amazing grace.

I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how so many of the characters grew in their faith or renewed theirs.

A delightful story. This book is a true testament to the power and deliverance of the Lord.

God uses a gaggle of friends, some more willing than others, to change the lives of a less than fortunate family within their neighborhood. Each woman has her own perception of the situation leading to conflict within the group. The Lord works through and in the lives of all.

Quilting breathes within the book’s pages. Their beautiful blankets are a centerpiece and fill the reader with wonder. How and why they labor becomes small in comparison to the drama around the exercise.

With the amazing message and powerful individual themes, I give the storyline five stars. However, due to some editing issues within the book that make it difficult to read at times, I give it an overall rating of four stars.
