Unexpected Omegas #1-2

The Surrogate Omega Box Set

Rate this book
This special edition of Surrogate Omega contains both part one and part two of the original story. It features a new cover and has been lightly revised and re-edited. Part

With all of the changes happening in Lake Simmon’s life in the past year, he’s had to learn how to adapt and adjust, or he’d be lost. Since most of the changes are good ones, like his baby niece, he is learning to come to terms with the lack of stability that he has always relied on. While some of the changes make him uneasy, he finds he is comfortable with the knowledge that he also has the Omega gene, like his twin brother River. After friends receive some devastating news, Lake knows that he wants to help and offers to be the surrogate for them.

There is one change Lake never saw falling in love.

But when events from his past lead to Lake meeting Evander, he feels an instant connection to the man that awakens feelings Lake has never felt before. Then Ev introduces him to his best friend, Logan, and sparks fly between the three men.Part If someone asked Lake Simmons a year ago what he imagined his life to be like in a year, he’d never in a million years imagine this. He somehow went from never having a relationship to having not only one but two mates. And if that isn’t wild enough, he’s now helping his friends fulfill their dreams of a family by being their surrogate. He never dreamt he’d want a life like this, but now he can’t imagine anything else.

Not everything is smooth sailing, of course. Between the holidays, busy schedules, long work hours, and undercover work trips, Lake and his mates, Evander and Logan, find themselves fumbling to solidify their new relationship and find their rhythm. When one of his mates has a case at work he just can’t let go of, Lake finds himself getting involved against his better judgment.

When everything comes to a head, and the secrets Lake has been keeping come to light, the three men must come together to fight their battles as one. Because at the end of the day, no matter what struggles they face, Lake, Logan, and Evander know it’s better to face them together.

The Surrogate Omega is an MMM contemporary omegaverse romance with MPreg. It's the second installment to the Unexpected Omegas but can be read on its own.

Content references to past child abuse, food insecurity, drugs, attempted trafficking (all off-page), infertility of a secondary character, surrogacy, a miscarriage scare (does not happen), kidnapping of a minor character, adoption, and found family. A more detailed content warning can be found in the front of the book.

I was very interested in the premise of twin omegas and how they handled the revelation that Omega genes were reappearing and Mpreg was now possible. The interesting juxtaposition between River and Lake – with Lake showing signs of being on the spectrum which was handled smoothly, with people accepting his characteristics and quirks with little to no comment. River was full of emotion whereas Lake was far more comfortable leaving emotions out of things.

The characters of Logan and Evander were interesting in different ways. Logan identified as straight for his whole life, to the extent that he didn’t register just how entangled he was with Evander until Lake came into both of their lives. Deeply submerged feelings for Evander as well as the almost instant desire to make Lake belong to him means that Logan had to go on a voyage of discovery about himself. He went through the most changes – physical changes that he little to no preparation for and no point of reference to guide him – meant that I felt his character had the most ‘progression’. Evander to a certain extent seemed to represent the beta in the relationship, albeit taking on the role of carer in the throuple as they developed their relationship.

I wasn’t too enamoured of the subplot regarding the case that Logan was working on and Lake’s involvement – it felt a little superfluous to be honest and I couldn’t quite get behind it. I liked the idea – I just didn’t particularly enjoy the implementation. I enjoyed the fact that this was both parts of the story so not only did you see the beginning of the relationship between Logan, Evander and Lake but also how they managed to entangle their lives together. The Mpreg aspect wasn’t really explored, although signs of how the general population felt about male pregnancy were prevalent in the story and I would imagine played a heavier role in the first story in the series which I have no read. I would say for anyone slightly leery of the mpreg aspect of things that it is very lightly touched on and there are no graphic scenes.

I liked reading these stories but they didn’t grip me – I can’t even explain why as the idea of a hot threesome, with an emerging alpha, a switch and a submissive omega is right up my street. Well written with engaging characters and an interesting storyline, I think this just wasn’t the book for me – YMMV.

I received an ARC from GRR.

This two part story had three compelling main characters, all from traumatic childhoods, that managed to end up with a special male adult in their lives that helped them become the strong loving men they are now. Evander and Logan had been friends from the age of fifteen, when Evander and his dad changed Logan’s life when he was brought into the family. Evander’s dad, Erik, had a life changing encounter with Lake over twenty years ago, which woke him up and made him the father Evander needed. Lake was saved from his birth father by Erik when he was 8 and delivered to his mother, who then met and married Luke, giving Lake and his brother River the father they deserved. All these threads came together when Evander wanted to check up on Lake for Erik, to see how his life had gone over the years. When Ev and Lake meet, there are strange feelings and a pull to know more. At the same time, Logan’s feelings begin to change for Ev, not necessarily straight anymore, and when he meets Lake, there is a pull on Logan, too. The three begin a tentative throuple relationship, looking to see where it will lead.

Lake is an Omega like his twin brother River ( his story in book 1). This is important because Omegas were thought to have died out long ago. Suddenly, there is a confirmed male Omega and he is pregnant, Lake’s brother River. Since Lake is also an Omega, he volunteers to be a surrogate for some friends. When Logan and Ev get together with Lake, they find out Logan has the Alpha gene, which leads to a whole new dynamic as the three try to make their relationship work while navigating pregnancy, their jobs, and a cold case.

Once the background is set up and the relationship between the three is fairly solid, more threads come together with a cold missing person’s case of Logan’s, a mission of Lake’s for the CIA, and a mystery to solve that will effect these three men in a profound way. As Lake is carrying a child for friends, he is sent on a mission for weeks, a missing child may have surfaced, Logan does investigating on his own, and Evander is the glue holding all these threads together. The plot has twists and turns, surprises, danger, steamy encounters, families and found families, and a lasting love between three men whose lives are changed forever by chance encounters spanning decades.

Trying to get across a cohesive description of the story is not easy, as evidenced by the confusing things noted above. But, the story will draw you in, grab you and not let you go until the final page. There’s laughter and tears, hope and despair, the fragility of life, the promise of love and that moment in time that changes everything. I have already purchased book 1 and look forward to Luke’s story coming out with its own complication. If you decide to read this two-part book, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Three Isn't A Crowd

Evander and Logan have shared an unbreakable bond of friendship since their teenage years. They have been through thick and thin together, and their relationship has stood the test of time. However, their lives take a dramatic turn when they meet Lake, a shy and innocent man who quickly becomes an essential part of their lives. Lake is the missing piece that turns Evander and Logan’s platonic friendship into a romantic partnership as the three men are strongly drawn together.

Their relationship flourishes, but it's not immune to the challenges of real-life. They must learn to adjust to Logan and Lake's demanding jobs, which often keep them away from each other for long periods. In addition, Lake is a surrogate, which requires him to balance the demands of his pregnancy with his commitment to his partners. Despite the challenges, Evander, Logan, and Lake remain committed to each other and work tirelessly to make their relationship work. The three men share a deep bond that only grows stronger with each passing day, and they are determined to overcome any obstacle that comes their way.

The relationship between Lake, Logan, and Evander is intricate and entangled with several factors. One of the most notable ones is that Lake is an Omega while Logan is an Alpha. This difference in their genetic makeup puts them in a unique position as the three of them are fated mates. However, due to the new re-emergence of these genes, there is a lack of knowledge about how this arrangement will impact their relationship in the long term. Therefore, a significant part of their dynamic involves learning and adapting as new traits evolve along with the growth of their bond. The process of discovering what this means for them is both exciting and challenging, but they are committed to understanding and navigating their unique situation together.

The Surrogate Omega Box Set" is a captivating and sensual novel that explores a complex polyamorous relationship between three unique characters. The book is the fourth installment in the "Unexpected Omega" series and contains the complete story of "The Surrogate Omega Parts One and Two". The author takes the time to develop each character's personality and backstory, making them relatable and endearing to the reader. The romance progresses at a moderate pace, allowing for plenty of tension and anticipation.

The novel is filled with steamy scenes that range from intimate encounters between two characters to passionate moments involving all three. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and their emotional connection is heartwarming. Overall, I would confidently give this book a rating of four stars. The author's writing style is engaging, and the story is well-crafted with a satisfying conclusion. It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys a well-written polyamorous romance novel.

THE SURROGATE OMEGA BOX SET contains both parts of Lake, Ev, and Logan's story, starting with the three of them and their separate lives and ending with them together.

I loved how Ev and Logan were best friends, albeit on very different paths. Lake is a sweetheart with his own quirks and foibles which I thought was excellently written. In fact, the whole thing was brilliantly written. There was never a moment when I wondered why something had been written or said in a particular way. *Chef's Kiss just for Ev*

Their relationship is mostly smooth, but not without its ups and downs. The thing is, they acknowledge this and work together to sort out whatever problem is heading their way. Communication is key with them, along with plenty of affection, and I was loving every moment.

This book flowed smoothly and I had trouble putting it down, I was that engrossed in their story. Part 2 gave me the perfect ending, wrapping up any loose ends. Plus, imagine my delight when I got to see Zach and Alex's meet-cute (from The Very Merry Omega) from a different perspective. That made my day!

Jacey Davis is a one-click author for me. I love her writing style and the worlds she has thought of. HIGHLY recommended by me.

I've always wanted to try one of Jacey Davis' books and this set was my first attempt. The story is really well written, but maybe because I like more action/thriller/suspense elements in my reads, I couldn't connect with the plot in my usual "can't stop reading" kind of way. This is a slow burn, low heat story focused on the development of different relationships; creating strengthening and nurturing the emotional/physical bonds between the characters and the intense flavor of "found family" vibes, because while some of the characters were lucky enough to have the unconditional love and support of their family members, others were not. But found family is about more than the pull of blood, it's about friendship, acceptance, and choosing to be a part of another person's life. The discovery that he carried the Omega gene like his brother, River, changed Lake's life. Because he is so selfless, caring and sensitive with giant heart, full of kindness and love, Lake decides that this gift of nature should not be wasted. And the decision to become a surrogate is a natural continuation - the chosen couple, struggling with infertility issues, was already close friends to his family. If this wasn't already enough of a change leading to a lot of adjustments, then Evander and Logan hoping on the proverbial "train of changes" were definitely a new surprising addition. And while they were childhood best friends, they weren't a couple - Lake was the unexpected reactant that shifted their friendship in a new uncharted territory of self discovery and reevaluation. Somehow the 3 of them clicked so well together, the pull between them so strong and undeniable, that the second part of the story was the relationship they started, the challenges they faced and well deserved HEA.

A bazillion stars!!!

I got hooked on this box set and read it in a few days. The throuple has a perfect balance, which can be hard to achieve. I felt they fit so well together, and their intimate scenes had me kicking my feet, and I don't just mean the spicy ones.

Our throuple consists of Lake, Logan, and Evander. Lake is a hacker who has learned he can get pregnant through a new omega gene he's discovered he had. He offers to be a surrogate for friends of his and meets the loves of his life, Logan and Evander the same year.

Logan and Evander are ride and die besties since they were kids. Shortly after Evander and Lake have a meet cute Logan and Evander discover that their feelings are also romantic for one another. All three fall deeply in love with one another while Lake navigates being a surrogate.

We follow the three through their romance and their blended families and jobs. Logan's job as a cop and Lake's job intersect in an engrossing way, and there is an element of action introduced through this.

I absolutely loved this box set and highly recommend it for fans of mm romance, mmm, mpreg, and beautiful intimate relationships. The smex scenes were spicy, and I particularly love how Logan and Evander's first smex scene was written. I gasped out loud. All three main characters are lovable, distinct, and deserving of all their happiness. Love, love, love these books!

Themes included are found family, mpreg, surrogacy, intimacy.

Possible Triggers: Physical and segual abuse, abandonment, neglect, child abuse, human traffi*king (none of these are between the MCs)

There is a lot to unpack in the box set. Lake is a twin, with a secret life, and a newly discovered fact he is an omega. I adored this character. He's brilliant, yet naïve about people. Blessedly awkward in social situations and limited in his ability to "read the room," yet his true giving spirit leads him to offer himself up as a surrogate to another couple. I found him instantly adorable, even if his demeanor reads a bit clinical.
Seeing this story develop, as he meets both Logan and Evander was so much fun to read. Separately these guys all are amazing. Watching them awkwardly not only come to their own self-realizations on their identity, but forging forward in a relationship was entertaining.
The overarching secret Lake keeps, and it's impact on Logan and their relationship, while non-essential to the the story in my opinion, was actually very interesting. I do think it was dropped without a lot of follow up. Maybe this leads to another book of some of the other characters and clarifies some of those ending points? I do not know. Regardless, I enjoyed this story immensely.

The Surrogate Omega - Triad Bond

The Surrogate Omega - Triad Bond

“Maybe the idea of fated mates isn’t so crazy after all.” I frown, considering that. I haven’t actively discounted that theory since River met Cooper. It’s obvious there’s something special there. But is Evander implying that Logan, he, and I are fated mates? I wonder if that thought should concern me. But instead, it just leaves me with a feeling of warmth and belonging. A feeling of hope. A feeling of family.‘

Jacey Davis has written such a wonderful MMM tale, where individuality becomes a chance to bond with others and create a loving bond.

The Surrogate Omega is book three in her fabulous Unexpected Omegas series.

Lake, twin to River-who we met previously- has never been in a relationship and with learning he has the Omega gene, he unselfishly decides to offer to be a surrogate for a couple that he cares deeply for.

What Lake never thought could happen does, and he becomes involved with two men who care for him in a way he never knew could be true.

Heartfelt, loyal and unique, Lake’s story is fabulous!

"The Surrogate Omega" received THREE AND A HALF stars.

Good story and great characters. Out of the twins, Lake is my favorite.

The author had a tendency to double explain things. The current POV chapter character would mention something about another character and then a few paragraphs later that other character would bring it up. It always dragged me out of the story. There was also a time when Logan addressed the readers, which brought me out of the story.

The Ro-plot was dark and hard to read, though I hope there’s a book written in the future where we can see him healed and happy.

The novel gained *stars* for these items:

* gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."

* gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."

1/2 * gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."

* gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"

The novel failed to gain stars for this item:

NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything she/he/they writes."

This combined book is listed as book four. Broken down it's the same story as book 2 & 3.
Part 1
I very much enjoyed book 1 with River and Cooper. Book two, the world is well developed. River's twin, Lake, also has the Omega gene. And he decides to use his fertility to aid friends, offering to act as their surrogate. He meets Evander who introduces him to his best friend, Logan. A triad relationship takes work. Not to mention that one of them is pregnant. Or that Logan is 'straight'.
Of course they work it out. But that's more than half the fun. Hot, sweet, a good read. Looking forward to more from Lacey Daize.
Part 2
This book reads more romantic mystery than romance. It further develops the triad relationship of Lake, Logan and Evander. It's a more suspenseful story. Lake's job and Logan's case put them in danger. Quicker to read than the first part. Still very enjoyable.
I received an advance copy of Book 1 & 2 in Lake's story and this is my honest review.

Lake Common has had a lot of changes recently including his adorable baby niece but he is also coming to terms with his lack of stability in his life. Knowing that he also has the omega gene he offers to help some friends by being their surrogate. He never thought one of his changes would be to fall in love. When Lake met Evander he felt an instant connection and when introduced to his best friend Logan sparks fly between the three men. Life is not plain sailing between work schedules, the surrogacy and missions they have to work hard for their happiness.

I really enjoyed this story with the three brave men. Lake was inspiring as he handled the surrogacy and his highly stressful job. Ev was a giant as he supported his men. I feel these three men were very like an alpha, a beta and an omega. Lots of emotions, feelings and empathy this story. This was an MMM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with mpreg.

The Omega Surrogate Parts 1 and 2 by Jacey Davis. This story is part of the Unexpected Omegas series. I am going to do an overall review cause I do not want to give anything away.
Lake has a twin named River. Lake when we meet him seems lost looking for his place in life. His twin has a home and family he would love that too.
He volunteers to be a surrogate for dear friends because that calls to him. He just knows it is the right thing to do. He is an Omega and his day job might just surprise you.
Logan: is on the police force, he has always been straight. But now he is having weird feelings for Lake. They are best friends.
Evander or Ev: he is the wild card. He is also the glue that helps this relationship work. I loved his character.
Overall this is a great series. I cannot wait for more in the future.

In this world, the Omega gene is recently resurfaced and the idea of men being able to become pregnant is still new. I loved this original take on Alpha/Omega romance. I’ve not read the prior book, but the author provided sufficient details and world building that being new to this series wasn’t an issue. The author does an excellent job balancing the romance between Ev, Logan and Lake with the mystery side of the plot. I enjoyed all the characters but I think Lake is my favorite because he has some many interesting facets to him. I liked the addition of the mystery and intrigue coming from Lake’s job but the characters were the highlight for me.

This is a long book, so settle in with a beverage of your choice, because you may find it hard to put down. The chemistry between the 3 MCs is wonderful, spicy, and so emotional. I admit that I did not read the first book prior to this one, but the story line is still easy to pick up. These characters all have some trauma in their backgrounds, and work hard to overcome it. Found family is a huge part of the storyline, and is sweet to read. Lake, to me, reads on the autism spectrum, but is never called such. His partners are aware of his quirks, and embrace everything about him. Overall, a wonderfully written story about acceptance and overcoming obstacles with the love and comfort of family. However that family comes into being.

Full steam ahead

I really liked the characters in this story. They were what kept me reading. There was a lot of steam and they had chemistry. I felt that it took a while to set the story up. On one hand we got a play by play on how they got together. But on the other hand, I wanted more of Logans job and Lakes job. I think I'd have been more happy with what was going on in their work life because that's where there was a good storyline too, besides just the three of them getting together. If thay makes sense.

It was a really long book but the characters were good, if you want steam, it has it. Like I said, I'd have wanted more of the trafficking story and less of the relationship. But that's me.

I did not read book one about Lake's twin River but after reading this duo of stories I am thinking that I will go back for it. It was touching in this story Evander, Logan and Lake, all men who had difficult childhoods, find in one another strength and a triad that works for them. Is it easy, not really, but they get what they need from one another and are there for one another, even when Lake is being a bit difficult. There is such a good balance between them and what they bring to their dynamic and each finds in the other two what they need. This was a good emotional read that I am glad that I got to read together.

Logan, Evander and Lake ❤️

4 Stars ⭐️

This story was so different from what I expected, in a good way, just different from the usual alpha/omega reads. It most definitely had a depth of emotion that I did not expect. The way the characters lives intersected was a nice addition especially when fate is involved. I am always a bit reluctant of stories with an established relationship adding a third however, Lake was the missing piece that the two needed to be a whole. All in all the author crafted a really sweet story filled with lots of love. I would recommend.

Complications, add to character. Lake is going through some things through no fault of his own. His life is in constant flux and he has to run to keep up. The biggest event is that he learns he has the omega gene like his brother, River. Lake, makes a choice to help his friends then he meets his mates Ev and Logan. Lake, Logan and Ev have to make adjustments to their team reforming. Their work is brought into their private lives, and they must adjust again. On the edge of your seats excitement. Lots of questions and more answers. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a continuation of the complex, and intriguing mpreg world of the "Unexpected Omega" series. This box set contains books two and three of that series. This is not a standalone, and I would recommend reading book one of the series. The main characters are, Lake who discovered he had the Omega Gene, and Evander and Logan who are best friends. They meet Lake and realize the three of them are fated mates. This is a very slow burn romance. I don't want to mention spoilers, so I will say there are lots of complications, trauma and suspense. Certain choices and additional difficult situations challenge these main characters as they work to form and strengthen their triad.

Gosh, this book will give you the feels. It's touching how Evander, Logan, and Lake come together and form a relationship. All the characters are so loving and important to the story. You may get irritated by Lake as he is so regimented and resist to change. But I promise you'll come to love him with all his quirks. Logan is a big bear that growls when he isn't happy and is possessive and protective of his men.. Evander seems to be the glue that keeps the the unusual trio together. All in all, this is a great read and I totally recommend it.

I am really enjoying this series and loved the fact that this boxset has both books two and three from the series. It is a well written storyline about the relationship between an Alpha, Omega and human. It covers how Lake, Logan and Evander met and their different learning experiences and traumatic pasts that shaped them into who they are now. Book two covers the build up of the relationship and how they strengthen their bonds which creates a strong and undeniable relationship. Highly recommend.

I'm really glad I had both parts one and two together in one volume so I didn't have to break the flow of reading about the relationship between Lake, Logan and Evander. The author did a wonderful job of juggling several plot themes in the books - surrogacy, development of the poly relationship, the stress and difficulties of characters' jobs and secrets from the past. I found this a quick read because it grabbed my interest immediately and the author has connected everything smoothly and seamlessly so you are drawn along with the story.

Meh, it didnt work for me. The basics were there, the execution fell short. Small things ruined it. eg: Lake is pregnant as a surrogate but thoughts like who's is it.....? He has a rounded tummy, in one page and completely flat a few pages later.......... Zoe is unfertile, yet she donated the eggs....??? This just annoys me. Its lazy, sloppy writing. The dialogue was too flowery for men in their professions. Loved the the families and the connections, but as a whole it was nearly a DNF several times.

Evander, Logan and Lake make a good throuple. They all have to make changes for the relationship to work with Logan changing the most. With the omega gene resurfacing we get a look at how people look at and treat pregnant male omegas. There's a subplot mixed into the story that was interesting. I liked how Lake is different; less emotional but people didn't treat him bad for it. I really liked this book and look forward to more in the series.

This storyline is brilliant. It gives a different view of alpha/omega non-shifters. There is so much happening with the different characters jobs. Drama, human trafficking and government agencies. It includes found family, blended family and fated mates. The characters are very passionate and loving. Personally I recommend these books and look forward to the next one.

I’m definitely going to go back and read Rivers story and have a look at the other stories from this author.
