AMAZING
DARK
ACTION PACKED

JUST
BRILLIANT

The first book in this series introduced the characters perfectly but this sequel just picked the story line back up and ran with it. Dark themes set in a world that mirrors ours. If only we have this beautifully strong character in our world. AMAZING.

Wow. Talk about a tough subject to read about. This book is a beautiful blend of real world issues and science fiction.

Kaitlyn finally sees her potential in this story. She can now see why being brought back as a machine can be a blessing to others. Kaitlyn accepts who/what she is and embraces her mission. And makes her proud of herself. She is not a freak of nature - she is a solution to a problem. And hopefully she will continue to be in book 3.

This is very tough to read at times. It is hard to see just how broken the human mind can become... and how battered a human body can be. But that is exactly what happens all around the world. I love how Julia brings awareness to such a horrendous fact of life for so many. Incorporating such an atrocious topic in her book is not only extremely risky but shockingly brilliant. On one hand you have a fictional world filled wih fictional characters and on the other, you have a topic so real, so absolutely horrifying that I got sucked in so easily and so completely - my brain stopped reading this as fiction at some point and I was 100% invested in it.

Reading this story was truly an experience like non other for me. I feel the urge to take down the human trafficking industry. Since I probably can't accomplish that (at least not by myself), and I feel this overwhelming need to do something, I will be taking some self defense classes soon.

I usually don't concern myself with titles of books. However, I must mention that the title was perfect for this story. Fractured Innocence. How appropriate...

Amazing story. The ending was a bit rushed but I was very satisfied with where it left off. Looking forward to book 3.

I am a big fan of Julia Crane's books... This is one of her best in my opinion. This is book 2 following Freak of Nature. If you read the first one you know by the end all you could think about was getting more.. Well this one delivers. This book deals with a tough subject but one that is real in the world.

In this book Kate goes on her first mission. Something I was excited to read about since she is, to me a super human. I loved Aaliyah and felt for her through the whole book. What happened to her made my heart ache. I am also a fan of Erik and Ace. Ace at first made me mad with his attitude but by the end he made me change my mind. Lucas is still as sweet as ever. I can't get enough of these characters.

This book is full of ups and downs.. There is action that makes the book that much better. This is not your normal paranormal romance book and I love it even more because of that. If you haven't read this series make sure you do. You wont be disappointed..

Good sequel

While I liked this book, I found I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. I'm not sure why, the characters were strong, the storyline was strong but I just didn't feel it

This book was so different to the first book in the series! I wasn't really expecting it to be until I read the synopsis and then I realised just how different it was going to be and how far it had developed since the first book! The plot of this book focused on an issue which occurs, but in my opinion, isn't talked about enough! It focused on human trafficking and I think this was such a brave step from the author! She put something which occurs every day to young woman and men and mixed it with a bit of a paranormal element, but she made sure that the paranormal side of things, didn't overshadow the message she was trying to send! I was really happy that the author decided to add human trafficking to the plot because I don't believe it's spoken about enough and this book does show just how brutal it can be and how much it can affect someone who has been through it! The plot had me flicking through the pages furiously desperate to find out what was going to happen next! I was hooked, but I did have to put the book down a few times to come to terms with what I had just read! Some things that happened to the sort of second female character really were horrible and my heart completely went out to her in the plot! The characters were even more amazing than what they were in Freak of Nature! Kaitlyn in this book was just kick-ass! She was ready to fight and she was ready to take on anyone who stepped in her way on her mission! In this book, Kaitlyn was still trying to adjust to being human and also trying to adapt to her abilities at the same time! She had a few mishaps in this book, but she covered them up and I think she had come so far since the first book! I still loved her as much as I did in the first book as well! Lucas was so cute in this book! I loved how protective he was of Kaitlyn, even though he knew she could take care of herself! I also still liked that he was a bit geeky, but hot at the same time! Aaliyah was also a main character in this book and she was the girl who played a vital part of the plot! My heart went out to Aaliyah because she went through something unimaginable and it affected her so much! Well, it would affect anyone who went through it too be honest! My heart then completely broke for her when I watched her try and recover from what she had been through! She thought she was broken and that nobody would ever want her again, but in reality, she came out even stronger! The secondary characters from the first book were back in this book and they were so amazing! I loved what they all added to the plot! I loved that this book was written from Kaitlyn, Lucas and Aaliyah's point of views, as it gave more depth to the story and it made it so much more interesting! I cannot wait for the next book in this series and to see what the author has planned for it! I will definitely be anticipating its release! The cover for this book suits the first book's cover perfectly! It really suits what happens in the book as well and I love it! Big thank you to Julia for an ARC of Fractured Innocence!

Omg... I really never expected this book to be so darn exciting. Yes, I knew I'd love it but it exceeded all of what I had hoped I would read after reading Freak Of Nature.

I love all of Julia's books and this book was totally anticipated. Not only by me but my daughter as well. She's a huuuuge fan and that's another reason I love Julia so much.. Back to the book.

Ok so I started the book thinking it was just going to be Kaitlyn and Lucas in trouble again or on the run.. I got much more than that. There was so much more heart thumping action in this one hat I literally had to stop and take it all in.

Kaitlyn and Lucas are actually helping people now.. All of the crud they went through before has lead them to this point and Kaitlyn can actually use her abilities for good. She's one bad-ass fighter too with an equally bad-ass partner Erik who's apparently also good looking but, she can only see Lucas..

We meet Aaliyah in this book. She's a beautiful 17 year old girl who's unique eyes make her boyfriend Noah's Heart melt.
They are young but as soon as they met they were in separable and even being from opposite ends of the track did not make a difference to them. Little did she know that picking up her little brother Darrius one night would change her whole life forever.

Dasvoik was a mean and horrible person, no that's not a bad enough description for this vile thing who got off on the pain he inflicted on his victims. He doesn't deserve to live and Kaitlyn is going to do everything in her power to find and eliminate Dasvoik. When Dasvoik first laid his golden eyes on Aaliyah he had to have her and no one else.. He was a disgusting pig wrapped up in a pretty package. Aaliyah could not understand how someone so beautiful could be so cruel. A fallen angel she once called him..

Anyway, the rest is much to graphic and too intense for me to do it any justice with my words. Julia Crane's picture of what was going on was just so vivid that I felt like I was right their. I think this has to be one of her best books yet..
great job Julia and I can't wait to see the next mission on Kaitlyns agenda..

Wow, just wow. This book was both hard to put down and hard to read. The subject matter is very difficult, especially when you truly realize how real black market slavery and abductions are in this world. It's something people don't think about, but it's very much so alive. This is definitely not the path I would have envisioned this series taking after having read Freak of Nature, yet it fits it beautifully. Kaitlin is not only an amazing engineering and modern technology feat, but her past memories and experiences helped her assist Aaliyah through her recovery. Because of the deeper and more emotional subject matter in this book, those who loved Freak of Nature may or may not like this second book in the series as much.

The reading POV switches between Lucas, Kaitlyn and Aaliyah. It's done very seamlessly and only ever at the start of new chapters, not right in the middle of a chapter; that makes it very easy to follow along with the storyline. The storyline itself moves fluctuates between fast-paced and slower, fitting very well with whatever section of the story we are in.

The characters are still as loveable as ever. Kaitlyn learns to integrate by leaps and bounds, but as a reader I found myself cringing at her faux-pas'. We get to know Erik a little more, and he becomes a likeable character. Harrington still strikes me as a little off; I believe his intentions are good, but he doesn't appear to have a strong enough confidence to carry through very hard difficulties that I could foresee them facing in future Kaitlyn adventures.

**SPOILERS**
My only thoughts about what could have been expanded upon was when Kaitlyn first barges in on Aaliyah, she is told "NO!" but then you later have her visiting Aaliyah without any problems. I feel like some big jump happened there. The second thing was at the end with the finding of the other captives, that whole process happens in just a matter of paragraphs and I think it would have been nice to slow down that part a little bit.

This book is the 2nd in the IFICS series by Julia Crane. I read the first one and really enjoyed it. When this one came out, I couldn't wait to dive in.

This book wasn't always easy to read. It has some heavy subject matter. It's hard to believe that human trafficking exists in this day in age, but it does. It's also the fastest growing illegal trade.

In this story Kaitlyn, our partially robotic heroine, decides that she wants to use her enhancements for good. She sets out on the mission of taking out Vance Dasvoik, the kingpin of the illegal drug/weapons/human trafficking crime ring. With her partner Erik at her side and some state of the art equipment, they start their hunt for the horrendous Vance.

Aaliyah is an incredibly beautiful 17 year old girl. On Alliyah's walk home from picking her brother up for school, she and her brother are taken captive. They are separated for a few minutes, only to be parted again. Poor Aaliyah is forced to go through what no woman should ever have to endure. This was so hard to read through, but even worse to know that these things happen every day. This book inspired me want to try and find a way to help out people that have been victims to such horrors.

Julia's really knows how to portray such depths of emotion in her story. You can't help but want to join in the IFICS family. They are amazing characters that you would want as your friends and at your side. Her villains are incredibly repugnant. If you are up for a heavy hitting story that will shake you to the core, this is it. I can't wait for the next installment in the IFICS series!

Once again, I was sucked right in to Julia Crane's IFICS world, with Fractured Innocence. It definitely had a different feel then the first book, Freak of Nature, due to the tough subject matter. Crane takes you into the gritty & raw world of human trafficking in America. Something some people aren't even aware of happening.

In this book Kaitlyn is going on her first mission. She finally is going to be able to use her skills out in the real world & make a difference in doing so. She's freaking awesome. That's pretty much all there is to it. There was so much emotion put into the story of the Aaliyah, a young girl who is kidnapped & put into a horrible situation. Throughout the whole book, I just wanted to reach in & hug her. Or save her somehow. It was so hard to go through that experience with her. I'm hoping she makes an appearance in the next book!

There's a whole lot of action in Fractured Innocence & thankfully the love story between Kate & Lucas is still in full force, but it doesn't overtake the book, which I loved. Needless to say, I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series!

This book had a subject matter that was hard to read and very graphic. It dealt with human trafficking. But, Ms. Crane did a fantastic job with it. Loved reading more about Kaitlyn, Lucas, and Erik. Enjoyed reading how Kaitlyn had grown a bit more into herself. Happy with how the book ended and eager to see where Ms. Crane takes Kaitlyn next.

Crane's writing style is so much different and unique in this book. It's still a Julia Crane book, but it's a new take and a new writing style. I loved it and can't wait for it to come out so this book can get the recognition it deserves!

Graphic: Forced institutionalization, Kidnapping, Pedophilia, Physical abuse, Rape, Confinement, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, and Emotional abuse

This book was emotionally draining. That does NOT mean it wasn't good, but it took effort to not want to find this fictional character and pound him into the past. Ugh. So mad.

BUT, with all that said, there is a character in this book...that was/is the arm of justice for all the readers.

Oh, so good. I couldn't wait to see them meet each other...and to find a way to fill the void that was taken from her. Ugh. My heart was torn out...reading what happened.

There are many triggering subjects, for sure, but if you are able to get past it...there IS justice. BUT, that does NOT mean your pain is taken away, but that THAT person will NEVER do this/that to anyone else. Forever and ever.

If this had been a physical paper back, I might have thrown it across the room, but since it is part of my phone...decided NOT to do that.

Oh, that character made me so mad. Being a father of three kids (now grown), but knowing that SO many children are kidnapped and sold into slavery and prostitution. Burn the world down, to find each and every one of these beasts.

This is when you need The Punisher. They do not need their day in court, they need Judge Dredd. Sorry, not sorry.

BTW, I am a mild and meek person, but if you hurt one of mine, you'll reap a whirl wind.

Actual rating 2.5 stars.

I was hoping book two, ‘Fractured Innocence’ would redeem this series after my opinion on ‘Freak of Nature,’ the debut of this series, completely bombed. But unluckily, this was yet another lemon.

The beginning still had that annoying childish tone which did not gel well with Kaitlyn’s robotic nature, or the relationships and situations the novel started with. Not a good sign when I felt tense and squirmy with the first few pages...

Differing from the ‘Freak of Nature,’ this instalment followed the format of a dual P.O.V. between Kaitlyn and Aaliyah. The latter, a new character is the most realistic of all the cast, but still not someone I could readily identify with.

Kaitlyn is still hard to relate to, and her reactions/behavior is inconsistent with her cyborg condition, and frankly, annoying most of the time. Make up your mid Julia Crane, either she has emotions or she doesn’t, either she obeys commands or not – personality traits were all over the map and added to my confusion. Additionally, it was idiotic with Kaitlyn ignoring her superiors and risking another person’s fragile psyche - professionals are there for a reason, they know what works and what doesn't. Her blatant disregard left me assuming Kaitlyn is a blunt instrument with little intelligence.

Interactions between Kaitlyn and Lucas (her love interest and overseeing technician) felt very one dimensional. He kept commenting on her looks as if that were the only important thing about her. His objectification, and her wondering if she is an object (being a company asset) left the story flat and superficial. Leading on from this, I did like the conundrum of whether Kaitlyn is alive, has rights, or is owned. But we never get any type of resolution, it’s only pondered.

Aaliyah’s narrative is the one saving grace, it was gritty, raw and heart-breaking. But as her story continued I became less interested. The choices she made, and some handling of the situation by the author left it feeling less and less authentic. But I highly commend the tackling of shocking and confronting material. A huge trigger warning for sensitive types - this book revolves around human trafficking, sexual abuse and rape. I personally found it to be vile and skipped over those parts. It’s not in my taste, but well written to have me feeling so disgusted.

Julia Crane should have done a little more research in maritime jargon to add authenticity as well, some of language was laughable. But ‘Fractured Innocence’ is another quick read, and not for everyone. I had so many problems with this it’s hard to give it a proper review without sounding like I’m completely flaming the book.

My copy had several typos and formatting errors, like it was not proofread properly. I feel embarrassed for Julia, issues like this are a red flag to me as far as quality goes.

Overall, a bit of an inconsistent, hot mess. Definitely great potential, and Julia Crane has the makings of a great writer, but ‘Fractured Innocence’ needs a few more drafts before I’d recommend it to anyone.

Fractured Innocence is the fantastic sequel in the IFICS series. It is is sci-fi, dystopia, romance, and thriller all wrapped up in one cyborg package. It is also a far darker and more intense read than was the first, Freak of Nature. In this book, Kaitlyn has come into her own and living her new life in the best way that she can. Her humanity and her creation to be a weapon have come together to make her what she is today... a black ops-style soldier on a mission of good.

The villain in this book is a bad guy of the worst kind. He is the leader of a human sex trafficking ring who also dabbles in drugs and illegal weapons. As much as the story is about Kaitlyn, it is also about Aaliyah, a girl stolen with her little brother off the streets of Detroit. What this girl goes through in this book, and her fellow captives, fractures her soul and changes her irrevocably. It is the mission of Kaitlyn and her partner Erik to take this leader down, and everyone with him so that the captive boys and girls can be rescued.
There was such depth of emotion in this book, something that is surprising when you take into account the main character is a cyborg who had lost much of her humanity. But we feel her pain and, more than that, we feel the pain of Aaliyah as she suffers through hell. It is undeniably dark and intense and there are parts that truly touch the heart and shake you to the core.

Things to love about Fractured Innocence...

--The intense emotions. There is so much pain and happiness and every emotion in between. It is a beautiful, although gritty, ride through humanity in all of its beauty and ugliness.
--Kaitlyn. She continues to grow and become more human, although her moments of confusion between her human side and her cyborg side are often hilarious.
--The action. As a military girl, I kinda loved the black ops parts!

Some quotastic goodness...

--There’d been a time in the not so distant past when she was lonely and ached for any human connection (Loc. 45).
--Kaitlyn wanted Dasvoik to see exactly what was coming for him. To see the fear in his eyes when he saw a half human raining hell down on him (Loc. 94).
--The room seemed to grow smaller as the fear began to swallow her. She was not naive; she knew what he meant by breaking her in (Loc. 595).
--And I am probably one of the weakest. She kept that thought to herself. Maybe if she continued to work with Kaitlyn, she, too, would one day be brave (Loc. 2888).

My recommendation: Dark and intense, with a heart wrenching story! FANTASTIC sequel!

review to come.

Picking up nearly where we left off the first time, we are back with Harrington, Lucas, Kaitlyn, and Erik and headed towards their next mission. Vance Dasovik -- the target, not a threat. There IS a difference.

Aaliyah is walking her little brother, Darrius, home when both are abducted off the streets of Detroit. Soon, Aaliyah is thrust into the bowels of hell, her innocence taken from her, and subjected to a sick bastard's base desires and torture. Her only concern is to survive so as to save Darrius, her little brother.

Kaitlyn, Luke, and party are preparing to attack Vance Dasovik and bring him down. There is no "bring to justice"; this man is a blight on the face of humanity, sexually torturing and raping young girls and engaging in human trafficking.

While Kate and Lucas are dealing with making her blend in more, and then dealing with fits of jealousy and expressing their love for one another physically, Aaliyah is being raped, tortured, beaten, and mentally broken.

This was NOT an easy read. It was quite difficult to get through the horrors that Aaliyah was facing, which thankfully were never explicit. Perhaps that made it worse? My imagination took off and my heart hurt for this poor innocent.

There were a few grammatical errors, mostly misuse of apostrophes when a plural was wanted. Not huge, but often enough to be noticeable. Still...this was a kindle-bruiser for me as I could not walk away, I could not put it down, I HAD to know if Aaliyah and the others were saved or not!

The ending was satisfying and yet not nearly as satisfying enough for I was harboring very vicious feelings towards Dasovik that I wanted to see play out. I am looking forward to the next in this series as I want to see this crew grow together and form fast, lasting friendships!

WOW! That is my one word to sum up this book!! I was already a huge fan of Julia Crane and Freak Of Nature. It was different and very unique. It held my attention and was so intriguing.

With Fractured Innocence, I really had no idea where she would take us. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Kaitlyn would be going on a mission to stop a very vile man from continuing his disgusting ways of life in human trafficking.

A young girl named Aaliyah and her brother are kidnapped and thrown into a world that no one should have to endure. It is sick what this man, Vance Dasvoik is capable of. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He makes Aaliyah his sex slave so to speak and does hideous things to her along with some pretty painful abuse. What she went through was very graphic and so sad. It broke my heart for this young girl. Julia's description sucked you in and you could feel her pain.

It is Kaitlyn and the IFICS team that embark upon this mission with guts, glory and a vengeance! The way Kaitlyn, Lucas, Dr. Harrington, Dr. Chambers and Eric work together was awesome. I felt a deep connection with these characters and how they went in to save lives.

I highly recommend this book to all readers!!! I could not put it down and I can not wait to move on to what else Julia Crane has to offer. I really hope there is more to come with Kaitlyn, Lucas and Eric!!

What an Incredible book. I was already a fan from the first book Freak of Nature, but Julia completely captured my attention in this riveting tale. I was in angst reading this book it wreaked havoc on my emotions and that was only 50% through the book. I loved how Kaitlyn and Lucas’s relationship developed and how confident Kaitlyn had become. She was just dynamite in this book like a robot Xena. Kaitlyn was deadly her assignment making her so which leads me to my angst human trafficking. I was so sickened and hurt and sad reading, but Julia portrayed a shocking truth that floored me through the beautiful Aaliyah. Julia Crane did an amazing job channeling Aaliyah’s thoughts and feelings I literally wished for her a guardian angel. I was just shocked through this entire story and hoping that just one small thing could help her. Then Kaitlyn came with her lethal talents and her awesome partner Eric. The best part of the book was Noah he was such a beautiful character to read and I loved him for being Aaliyah’s angel. Great job Julia this book was excellent and so enlightening 5+ stars for this.

I was so excited to start this book and see what Kaitlyn’s first mission would be. As the book began, it was great to see that she was evolving even more as a person and in her relationships. Ailiyah’s journey through all the torture during the kidnapping, the abuses against her were unimaginable, sadly, these thing s happen to real children in this world. I sat through many parts of the story with my heart just crushed for Ailiyah. It was obvious that her inner strength was very great as she survived so long before she finally crumbled. It was interesting to see Kaitlyn’s gut telling her they were waiting too long and needed to move. At every turn they seemed to be a few steps behind the human traffickers, Kaitlyn’s desire to save the children grew stronger, it was a fairly evident conclusion that she would do whatever she needed to make Dasvoik pay, even if it meant killing him. I definitely enjoyed seeing Dasvoik get what was coming to him. I enjoyed seeing Kaitlyn’s approach to helping Ailiyah start her recovery, no mincing of words, just getting right to the point. I am interested to see if/how she might play a part in the next part of the story.

I am so happy that I came across this series. The first book did a great job at setting up the sequel. Kaitlyn has quickly became one of my very favorite characters in fiction. She is smart and compassionate plus a total badass.

In addition to Kaitlyn being awesome, I loved how much the guys around her supported and believed in her. They were quick to defend her and had total faith in her which made for some interesting relationships. I loved that I could cheer for the whole team.

Not only do you get Kaitlyn but there is a second kick ass girl in this novel called Aaliyah. I don't want to say anything else about her and give anything away but let's just say she is a fighter in a horrible situation.

I would also like to note that this book has some very serious subject matter. Having been an attack victim myself it hit very close to home and the author's way of dealing with the situation was suburb. It was real and gritty. I like that not all of it was fighting the situation. There was logic and mental breakdown which made for a gripping story that felt believable. Well as believable as a robot novel can be.

Absolutely cannot wait to read more of this series.

This is a spectacular series! A breather of fresh air in the scifi genre. I had the privilege to by able to get an ARC of Fractured Innocence. It was in honest terms a gruesome story. The things that happens in Human Trafficking are scary and physical and emotionally scarring. I flinched when Aaliya did. She is a new character in the IFICS series. Things that happen to her made me sick to my stomach. This is an issue that needs to be addressed. She is brave and resilient. She deserves a much better life then what she went through. I glad that Vance got what he should of, though I personally think he should've stayed alive a little longer to be tortured a lot more for what he did. Kaitlyn is an amazing woman and deserves an award for what she has been through because of what she is and how she overcame it. The first book was an interesting debut because she is half robot half human, but can feel human emotions when her programming says not to. She is an inspiration to me and if more people read this book, they would be inspired too. Julia Crane did the best job ever with Freak of Nature, but outdone herself with Fractured Innocence! Can't wait to read the third book!

I have followed this author faithfully through each and every book that she has written. When she wrote Freak of Nature that became my favorite and thought she could never top it. Boy was I completely wrong this book has totally surpassed my love of her writing. She doesnt have all the rainbows and unicorns in this adventure. She deals with a very real and gritty topic that has been discussed in the news. She maintains decorum in handling this controversial topic and doesnt down play the seriousness of it. I love how she brings the characters to life and drags the reader into the story. I highly recommend this story for so many reasons. I definitely can not wait to see what missions Kaitlyn goes on in future books. My favorite read of 2014. I received a copy in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

Kate is now partnered up with Erik and they are on their first mission, find Vance Dasvoik, a leader in illegal drugs, weapons, and human trafficking. But this story is also about Aaliyah, a young girl that is kidnapped on her way home and put into the sex trafficking market by Dasvoik. Kate learns about her and makes it her mission to save Aaliyah.

This is a well written book on a very touchy subject. Trafficking is one of those topics that we seem to know about without really knowing about it. As I read about Aaliyah my heart was breaking for what she was going through. It’s hard to think that people all around the world go through that every day.

Julia Crane writes so well that I completely forgot about the cyborg portion of the story and was cheering Kate on to rescue Aaliyah. I was also hoping Dasvoik would slowly be put through the same tortures he afflicted on Aaliyah.

Excellent resolution to the cliffhanger at the end of book one! This book is action filled, socially aware, wonderfully tragic, and, of course, brilliant! I wouldn't expect anything else from Julia Crane. Kaitlin and Eric are a unique special ops team. Mercenaries, they are not bound by the constrictions of government agents. In this story, they've joined forces with some other ex military men, to kill a rich human-trafficking kingpin. The story takes you back and forth between the IFICS people and a young girl who's been singled out by the slave-trader. It's heart-wrenching at times, and terrifying at others. All in all, a very good book. I've just downloaded book 3, and I'll let you know what I think, when I've finished.

Fractured Innocence begins almost where the Freak of Nature ended. So, if you have not read Freak of Nature, you might want to read it first. It will give you insight on what happened to Kaitlyn and why she is the way she is!!

Fractured Innocence is not as focused on Kaitlyn and her transformation - but is about her using her abilities to help others. It does show how Kaitlyn has feelings (which is odd for a person in her state) and how she helps others because of these feelings. Julia Crane has done an awesome job once again!!!

I don't write spoilers - but, the way that Julia Crane ends a book in this series, gives you a hint that there is more to come!!!

The book fractured innocence continues where the first book left off in the hunt for Vance. In this book we see just how much evil this man can really do to a poor innocent girl named Aaliyah. My heart breaks for her and what she suffers in the book. I was also amazed by the courage and strength she has found by the end of the book. In this book we also see Kaitlyn and Lucas continue there relationship. We also meet several new characters Ace and Nick. I think this book overall was a very good book and I look forward to when the next one comes out.

Fractured innocence is quiet different from book 1 of this series. The plot focuses on the illegal trade of children for sex and slavery. At first when Aaliyah was introduced I didn't know if I liked it, but I kept reading. The more the book progressed, the more action packed it became and more enjoyable. I was rooting for Kaitlyn to rescue Aaliyah. Can't wait for the next book if there is one.

This is a hard one to review. If you have had sexual trauma in your past this might be a good one to avoid or at least go into it knowing what to expect. It gets graphic at some parts, which I wasn’t sure was necessary, but then the goal seemed to be to shed light on this awful situation - human trafficking. I couldn’t believe (didn’t want to may be more correct) the stats quoted at the end of the book. Human trafficking is the third highest grossing commodity in the world after drugs and guns, but is gaining faster than either of the other two. Sickening! Learning about what’s happening in the world through a fiction genre makes it easier to hear for sure but no less gut-wrenching.

IFICS has changed Kaitlyn’s world forever. She is nearly invincible and capable of outperforming everyone on the planet. In this installment she is tasked with hunting down one of the most depraved, evil men in the world. Vance Dasvoik is the bastard stealing women and selling them to the highest bidder. Aaliyah never thought that offering directions would destroy her life and her brother’s, but Dasvoik made sure of it. Taking Aaliyah as his own ensured that her teal eyes and copper skin would receive the highest degree of torture. Now it’s Kaitlyn’s mission to find him and kill him - slowly.
