Old magic has reemerged, as an Elder God tries to enter the Earth Realm, unleashing an ancient evil and threatening the end of the world.
Now, Talmah, the earth witch, must fulfill a thousand-year-old promise, as the last dragon wakes. When Fashi and Jasmine travel west, they seek answers near Mount Whitney.
They must explore the Crystal Cave, the key to Jasmine controlling her wild magic before it consumes her, answering the deeper questions that arise as secrets are revealed.
As the last dragon encounters a modern world, she is confronted by the Elder God who demands she join him in destroying the world.
She must choose where she stands.
Will she side with the four supernatural magic users as they try to complete their tasks and save the world or will she join the Elder God in death and destruction?
In the final battle, it will take more than mixed magic to prevent evil from erasing everything.
Chris Christman is a retired, life long adventurer. He has always been curious by nature, and lived his life as such. Born in Panama on a military base, and raised in New Jersey, his interests in different cultures, types of people and their lifestyles, he explored by engulfing himself in photography and travel.
Reading anything he could get his hands on also played a big part in shaping his unique view of the world. He soon found out that science fiction would prove to be his favorite place to explore by reading the stories of Robert A. Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Andre Norton, Roger Zelazny and others.
More recently, urban fantasy taking more of his reading attention, Jim Butcher, Orlando Sanchez, Steve McHugh soon became favorites. They all influenced him to finally write his own stories down and as a result we have the Mixed Magic Saga. Using an unique twist of magic and science to entertain the reader.
He lives in Missouri with his wife a social worker, two dogs and four cats.
Old Magic: Mixed Magic Saga, book 3 by Chris Christman
This is a paranormal fantasy that is grounded in reality. (After all, look at the daily discussion of AI in various media news sources, and then think about SARA). What would you do if an Elder God wakes? What role does a dragon play in this saga? Could you and other powerful magic users work together to save us? In short, I really loved the story. It really encouraged thinking, especially Clarke’s third law-“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Greysie is great, and I love the use of real places and science. This is a must read!
Fantastic finish to the trilogy! Love how Talamh brings in her secret weapon to help with the dragon! And Hecate is just cool! Way to upgrade from a broom! Also love the fact that Fashi takes Jasmine under his wing and guides her and advises both her and Zardoz in the wild magic and the path the young witch will walk. It would be interesting to see if her story would continue in some way and follow her down that path. SARA is also interesting, and seeing her character develop us is both fascinating and frightening. A learning AI, with a growing personality, it's becoming a reality and one the world will need to deal with. It's a great story and much to think about!
Really enjoyed this series. The character development was excellent. The story flowed nicely and is was different from other urban fantasies. This, the last book in the series tied up most of the questions but left room for another story. Zardos, the wizard senses that there is a dragon loose in the 21st century. Not a great predicament when people don’t even know that magic exists. He and his friends must somehow hide or kill the dragon before people find out. Great Read.
A dragon on the loose? What year is this? Zardoz has felt a shift, Talmah knows that her secret that has been kept and guarded for years is about her to be revealed. Jasmine and Fashi are on a quest to help Jasmine to discover how to manage her wild magic and they are all converging And Greysie well we all know cat keep secrets! A very satisfying end to third book in this trilogy. Hang though there are many unexpected turns!
Mankind has wrote more senseless damage than all the "natural destruction combined. The author leads us thru some of this world's ancient history. Things are waking from an extended sleep & the state of the current world grieves them. The author handles that issue with a lot of creativity.
This was the final installment of a three book series. The ending did the series proud. I loved the story line all the way through and the character interactions were awesome. I was told no dragons were harmed in the writing of this book.
