I loved all the Native American tales and lore in this. Just wish I would have been able to connect to the characters more because the storyline really was interesting.

Whisper feels like she is waking from a choking black cloud of sorrow. It has been six months since her parents were killed in a car accident, and she is slowly trying to learn to live again. She busies herself with the animals at the care center where she works. Helping injured animals gives her some peace and satisfaction. Her best friend, Erin, constantly encourages her to get out and try to socialize, but Whisper just isn't ready. She finally agrees to attend the bonfire with Erin. Unfortunately, the evening quickly turns sour when she is confronted by the creepy, Taregon. That guy just won't take no for an answer. As she dodges away, she is accosted by a drunken boy. Whisper dashes into the woods to gather herself and escape. Once in the quiet of the woods, she hears a feeble voice calling for help. Whisper finds a mysterious boy, bleeding and injured. Whisper is drawn to this boy and insists on her grandfather taking him in while he recovers from his amnesia. As she grows closer to Dylan, she begins to learn that there is a terrifying secret about her past. Can Whisper escape the curse?

What I Liked:
*I don't get the chance to read too many books that feature Native American lore so I was particularly pleased to find that this book was filled with Cherokee legends and traditions, and a bit of magic. I enjoyed learning a bit more about the Cherokee people and I especially liked the way that Ms. Hildenbrand incorporated her own unique legend into the story. This is definitely something different in the YA genre. I am always happy to find something unique. If you are looking for a read that is outside your typical YA book, pick this one up!
*Whisper starts out the book damaged and broken as she is attempting to pick up the pieces after the sudden death of her parents. Her heart-wrenching grief is devastating and my heart went out to her. As the book progresses, she carefully begins to extricate herself from the crippling sadness with the help of Dylan. It is beautiful and sweet to watch her learn to live again. She shows tremendous growth!
*I liked that this book kept me in the dark throughout. I was completely mystified as to what was going on with Dylan and had no idea how the story would unfold. The ending is dramatic and revealing and has some great unexpected twists that I loved. This book has plenty of suspense and dramatic tension that kept me engaged until the end.
*The romance is straightforward in this one, and I liked that. No games or triangles. Once it finally blossoms it is very sweet and even more so once you are filled in on the entire backstory.
*I loved the part the animals played in the story. Whisper helps care for injured animals and it was very touching how she bonded with the animals and cared for them.
*Finally, I was so happy to find a great YA novel that is unique, refrains from the terrible love triangle and it has a satisfying ending. No cliffhanger! It is so nice to find a great stand alone.
And The Not So Much:
*While the majority of the book remained a mystery, the villain is revealed up front and it was kind of a disappointment that I knew all along who the bad guy was, even though I was not certain of his motives, I knew he was behind everything. I wish that it was more of a surprise.
*I really admired Whisper's grandfather Tinker and I found myself wishing he had a bigger role in the book. He seems to be clueless as to what is going on, and I had a hard time buying that he couldn't see past the bad guy's front. At the end, he has a surprise connection, and I liked the way he tied in, but I felt he needed a bit more development. He is a character that had such huge potential.
*I soaked up all the Cherokee references and such, but I found that I wanted more. I would have loved to know more about the medicine woman and some of the herbal remedies and how they worked. For instance, the cleansing is used several times. I would love more of the back story on it. This is a very minor point, just a preference.

Whisper is a book I would recommend for anyone looking for something that is outside of your typical YA reads. It is a book with great characters, without love triangles or cliffhangers and it utilizes Cherokee legend and traditions. I really enjoyed this one as I especially appreciated the unique story line. Do yourself a favor and check this one out!

Favorite Quotations:
"The marks of mistreatment don't always show on the outside."
"The lessons of the past are repeated if we do not change the pattern for the future."
"Darling, life is only exhausting when it's full of sorrow."

I purchased a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

Whisper is the story of a Cherokee young girl, Whisper, who has lost both her parents in a car accident six months ago and is trying to recover ever since. She loves animals and she spends her life trying to help those in need, either being injured or abused by humans. It runs in the family so it is easy for her to support her will. One night, she finds an injured young man in the woods and she immediately steps in and tries to save him. This is the beginning of a romance and of Cherokee adventure at the same time.

This young adult story surprises the reader in a good way. The story develops gradually, keeping some mystery along the way. Even though the villain is revealed up front, the motives behind the actions are not clear, yet the reader would assume the obvious, love and desire, it fells far from that, which is a very good thing! The story is enriched with surprises and twists. The role of the injured young man is kept secret until almost the end of book leaving room for speculations.

The legend that is hidden behind Whisper’s story and the book itself, is remarkable and not found in most YA books. There are no love triangles and teenage heartbreaks. There is romance, though it is strong and built as the story develops. The Cherokee history and customs is found throughout the whole book, along with legends and practices that fascinate the reader in a magical way. Native Americans are people of mother earth, so they are keen on animals and treat them with respect. That said, there is no surprise in the way they are presented by the author.

Why have I not read this before!!! I have the ebook, but for some reason was hesitant to read it because I thought is was a contemporary novel. This book was all kind of amazing.

Whisper is just getting back to herself, after the deaths of both her mother and father. She isn't the Whisper she once was, but she is finding herself again. Her BFF is trying to get her out there a bit and has asked her to come to a bonfire, despite her reservations, she goes. Whilst there Taregan approaches her but she is in no mood for his flirting so goes to find some much needed solitude in the woods. There she stumbles across an unconscious man, she rings for help and stays with him till they come. At the hospital, he finally comes too but can't remember anything. Being who she is, Whisper can't let someone and offers her home to him. Dylan agrees and what follows changes both their lives forever!!

That is just a tiny bit of what happens. There is so much....soul to this book, so much everything, that I absolutely devoured it!! I'm a massive fan of this authors and this book just shows why. It's extremely well written and developed, the Cherokee magic and lore was well handled and intriguing and the characters were amazing!! Pretty much everything about this rocked.

I loved Whisper, she is going through something that emotionally crippled her, but she is slowly finding herself again. Her grief is raw and had me crying, but she is a tough cookie. Dylan was amazing. The author definitely knows how to write swoon worthy heroes. Seeing him and Whisper together was so sweet. They help each other throughout and it was amazing. Love them both!!!

In all, this was such an amazing read. This author knows how to write and never fails to deliver. This one just had so much to love and really captivated me. I loved the mystery and suspense throughout and the twist at the end was awesome!! I didn't see that coming!!! I want to read this all over again, just to enjoy the breathtaking world and characters this author has created.

Devin Crowe did an amazing job with Whisper. She captured her perfectly. She really brought across her personality amazingly and nailed the performance. She did a great job with the male voices too. She just captured your attention right at the start and didn't let go!

I was voluntarily provided this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

When I heard that Heather Hildenbrand was updating and re-releasing her wonderful novel, Whisper, I was beyond excited. I first read this novel back in 2012, and I thoroughly enjoyed it then. And knowing that scenes were going to change, new events would be occurring, and that the relationship between Hildenbrand’s characters would be turned up a notch had me eagerly awaiting this novel for a re-read, and let me just say, it’s perfection.

Whisper is not like any of Hildenbrand’s other novels; it’s completely unique to her writing style yet still innately hers through and through. It’s a captivating read, tackling the very real issue of grief, while putting a supernatural spin on it. While Hildenbrand has written many supernatural novels before, this novel has a more contemporary feel, and it’s attention to the tough topics of death and redemption are hard hitting, but extremely beautiful. Truth be told, not all readers are going to understand Whisper’s feelings or struggle to move on with her life if they haven’t experienced such debilitating grief in their own lives, so it may seem a bit slow to some readers; it’s not an action novel (not until near the end, that is). Yet, while it does start out slow, that’s the nature of this story; it’s not meant to be a fast-paced gripping novel, but rather one of love and grief. Those feelings wouldn’t be portrayed correctly if it moved any faster than it does, and I, personally, enjoyed this slower paced novel, allowing me to connect with the characters in a more real, vivid way than action packed novels tend to do.

Dylan is a most amazing character. He completes Whisper in a way that automatically brings a smile to my face, and I just adore him. Hildenbrand did a phenomenal job fleshing out her characters so well, especially Whisper, making the reader really feel for her, and all the characters, for that matter. Whisper’s grief is palpable and her character drudged up some long buried feelings I had concerning my own grief. Likewise, Taregan caused me to feel immense hatred, and yet, Hildenbrand was able to make me still feel sorry for him in the end; the fact that she actually made me feel for the one character I couldn’t stand is a testament to Hildenbrand’s sheer writing capabilities, and I really enjoyed this story, especially the Cherokee folklore, magic, and overall presence of the novel. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

I loved the changes in the novel as well. Hildenbrand has smoothed over some areas, added some steam, and she’s indeed changed the entire ending to create a more fluid conclusion. And I loved every minute of it. While I didn’t realize it the first time I read the novel a few years back, these updates bring about a real sense of connectivity, and they have strengthened the novel tenfold. If you haven’t read this novel yet, or even if you have, this updated re-release is a must read.

So what happens to the soul when we die? Some religions believe we go to Heaven (Christianity and all the sub religions belonging to it), The Summer Land and subsequently reincarnation (Pagan Faiths and all other sub systems belonging to it), and then others believe the soul continues to live on life after life until the mission of that soul is complete, can this be real? Who knows, no one truly knows what happens after death, but what about what happens when there’s a curse initiated on a trio of souls by an ancient Medicine woman in hopes that the wrongs of the past lives can be corrected in this life. To answer these questions we must look into the lives of Whisper, Taregan, and Dylan who live in modern-day Colorado.
Taregan and Dylan, ancient warrior brothers of the Cherokee tribes once fought for the affections of one Cherokee Princess Uganowa, it was through a means of deceit that Taregan won her hand via her father’s blessing. However, something dark was coming into play, Taregan had other ideas. And so set the cycle that continued until our story picked up right after Whisper’s parents’ death – in what she believed to be a motor vehicle accident – and her release from a mental hospital. The story plays out from Whisper’s perspective and we’re led on a path to find the ending wishing and hoping she finally gets her fairy tale happy ending. As cliché as it sound after all the tragedy that’s surrounded her for the last year the reader knows she deserves it and we cling to the hope she finds it.
Ultimately this novel was a quick and amazing read, the author weaves the story together beautifully – in this genre of YA novels the story does not play out like a typical YA romance novel or any other for that matter, she stayed away from the typical romance novel “formula” or guy/girl meets girl/guy, they bicker and fight, figure out they actually like each other, dance around one another for a while, finally go on a date, and BAM we’re thrown into sex scene after sex scene after sex scene to the point that you wonder if their lives actually go on at some point, then they have a huge argument, split, some circumstance throws them back together and they realize they love each other and happy ending. Instead, she chooses to slowly build the romance between Taregan and Dylan to the point that you know it is coming and sort of expect it, but don’t actually see it coming until it’s there.
Whisper is beautifully written, with the mythology of the Cherokee Legends interwoven beautifully into the story while staying away from the cliché romance formula. Five out of Five Stars!

I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.
Whisper is a standalone YA romance novel.
Whisper is barely going on with her life. She lost her parents in a car accident and doesn't know how to get past the sorrow. She lives with her grandfather Tinker. They help wildlife animals who are in need. Her best friend Erin convinces her to go out one night to a bonfire. When she unexpectedly finds an unconscious boy, her life will never be the same. The Cherokee believe in reincarnation but it's always been something Whisper has a hard time believing. An evil force stalks Whisper and she may find that magic and the Cherokee ways are more deeply ingrained in her life than she thought. Now she has to fight for her life and those she loves if she wants a chance to find happiness and life again.

A beautiful, soul-searching tale. I really enjoyed the story. It was wonderfully crafted and pulled you in. We have all experienced some kind of sorrow and loss. Whisper experienced the loss of her parents and trying to work through that is hard, just as we struggle to move past our losses. There is always hope at the end of the tunnel and something or someone that allows you to see that's it's okay to live once again. It's okay to smile and find joy. For Whisper she found that only to learn that there is more to her life then what she thought.
Dylan lost his memory and is struggling to get it back. His soul is tired and he longs for peace. Whisper and Dylan search for the same thing but will they be able to get what they seek?
Journey along with Whisper and discover life, loss, love and the beauty of souls that transcends time. Danger is threaded through the pages making this a suspenseful tale. Well worth the read and keeps you on your toes till the end. The characters are real and interesting. Each had their own personality and the story felt real instead of feeling forced or awkward.
For fans of tales of love and loss, reincarnation and hope.
I would rate this 5 fangs.

This book blew me away. I am a huge fan of Heather’s writing and this was I think her best ever. I could re-read this 10 times over and still love it every time. Heather does such a wonderful job describing the emotions that Whisper is going through to a point that you almost feel what she is feeling. It rings so true to anyone who has had a tragic loss in their life. She brings hope when you feel there is no hope left or reason to go on. In Whisper’s story Heather brings light and hope for someone who is surrounded in darkness, giving them just what they need to survive. In this case it’s a soul mate. There are so many what if’s when it comes to “soul mates” and magic in Native American history, and after reading this it makes you want to believe. I won’t give details about the story in my review because it would honestly take away from the emotions you should feel when you don’t know what is going to happen. Kind of like a surprise. Don’t read any detailed synopsis of this book. Read it with a blank slate. You will get so much more from it that way and it will leave you speechless. I hope that…no I know that you will love this story.

Whisper has suffered much after the deaths of her parents. When she stumbles across an unconscious boy in the woods, every instinct she has screams for her to rescue him. And more, to stay at his side no matter what anybody thinks, or how strange things may get. Even when he wakes with no memory of who he is or how he came to be there. This is a tale of love and loss. Of destiny and magic. Secrets abound. Secrets which tie Whisper and Dylan to a haunted past of darkness and blood.

At first, this seems an ordinary story of a girl trying to cope with the death of her parents, but things slowly take a turn into the realm of the supernatural. Dylan and Whisper share visions of things they shouldn't be able to remember. Visions of the past. And as Dylan slowly regains his memory, the shocking truth comes out. I don't want to say too much and give anything away, but the turn this story took truly surprised me. It's a unique and entertaining tale that had me on the edge of my seat wondering how it was all going to turn out.

I loved the characters. Wounded and kind hearted Whisper, strong and gentle Dylan, wise Lydia, stoic Tinker, dependable if a bit erratic Erin, and even flawed Teagan. Theirs is a story with a slow build up and a descent that will take your breath away.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I have had it for awhile, and wish I had gotten to it sooner. It is a story of hope, and curses, and love.
Whisper is a 17 year old Cherokee girl whose parents have recently died. Since then she has had a hard time moving on with life and being social at all. That is until she finds Dylan. Dylan brings hope back into her life. But everything isn't all happiness. Heather Hildenbrand spins a tale of magic and curses that had me anxiously turning pages to uncover the mystery. There are even a few unexpected twists in the end. I don't think there are any sequels planned, but I would love to read one. I recommend this to eveyone!

I haven't read many books about Native Americans but the ones I did read I loved. This book will now be added to that list.

This book starts six months after Whisper has lost her parents. She's really struggling to come to terms with their deaths. Then she meets Dylan. I'm not gonna say much as I don't wanna spoil it. You really need to 1-click this gem. The twists and turns had me gripped.

This is a really beautifully written standalone story that you won't wanna miss. I highly recommend it.

If, like me, you loved "Wide Awake" by Shelly Crane, you need to pick up a copy of "Whisper" by Heather Hildenbrand. It's like a Cherokee paranormal version where it's a boy who has temporary amnesia, unwittingly getting between the heroine (Whisper) and her ex.

Beautiful, tragic and triumphant.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review***

What a great story! This was something different from what I have read. A Cherokee book is something completely new to me. Honestly, I don't know much about the heritage of Cherokee tribes and this was a nice story to read. This book has many twists and turns to keep you on your feet. I would think one thing and then think something completely different the next minute. It really kept me on my toes.

Whisper has been through so much from the death of her parents and her suicidal attempt. She seems to become content again after saving this stranger in the woods who cannot remember anything about his past. As the book develops, you feel the connection between the two.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. It was a great story and I am happy to have had the opportunity to listen to the audio version.

This story is a really good example of reincarnation and how a curse can follow an individual or family down the centuries. Add that to Native American magic, folklore and tradition, the eternal love of soul mates, and you have a wonderful story. I enjoyed it immensely.

Whisper is one of those books that I was hesitant about requesting. I loved the idea of the Native American, Cherokee background involved in this story. And so I thought I would give it a shot. I do have to say that I struggled to connect in the beginning to Whisper. This year's worth of reading I've found myself a bit more cynical and easily annoyed (hormones perhaps?). While I sympathize with Whisper's devastation due to the death of her parents, I also had a hard time. I've gotten a bit annoyed with the main character who has suffered a major tragedy and therefore assumes the worst of everyone around them. Every comment made toward them that they believe is out of pity. Every look. How frustrated they can be with people who don't know how to respond to their grief. Whisper understands that people are usually trying to be kind, but she still responds negatively. I know that this is actually very true to life. I know a friend who lost a child and felt this exact way. She knew people had good intentions, but their words and actions still grated on her. But this was just hard to read and grated on my nerves instead.

Once Whisper actually comes across the guy in the woods, things started to get more interesting. Of course, a potential romance is always going to pique my interest. I wanted to know who had attacked this guy, when would he get his memories back, what would happen once he did get his memories back.

The writing style overall felt like it was lacking a level of maturity. I think that comes with being a less seasoned author. This also led to a level of cheesiness and predictability. At one point in my reading life, I loved books that involved some kind of supernatural connection between characters--past lives, imprinting, etc--but I've moved past that in my reading preferences and usually just find these types of connections a bit kooky. The major conflict, the villain, the climax...it all felt extremely predictable and caused me to roll my eyes a few times--especially after the 80% mark. Plus I've come to learn that one of my biggest pet peeves is when everything is tied up in the perfect little bow at the end of the book. It's one thing to have a happily ever after, but Whisper made sure even the smallest point of conflict was addressed and tied up nice and neat in the end. This was coupled with my other biggest pet peeve where the villain threatens bodily harm to someone else and our "hero" therefore sacrifices themselves in the dumbest ways.

Some quotes to illustrate my points:
-She watched me with something resembling pity. I knew it was probably kindness, but it was so easy to confuse the two; I couldn't tell the difference anymore and both made me uncomfortable.

-My mind constantly took people's comments and twisted them into an angry pity party. Logically, I knew the comments were well-meant, but some irrational part of my brain always wanted to turn them into something else. Something darker.

-"My soul would recognize you and wake me."

I started off struggling with Whisper. Once I finally connected I began to think that the book might not be so bad. However, ultimately it fell into some pitfalls that I really can't stand. Predictable in conflict and resolution, in the end, I think Whisper gets 2.5 Stars from me. Have you read Whisper? What did you think? Let me know!

The choice to read this book was an incredibly simple one to make. I absolutely fell in love with the author's Dirty Blood series; if you haven't read them yet, you definitely should. Not convinced? Check out my reviews for Dirty Blood and Cold Blood. Anyway, back to my review of Whisper. It was everything I hoped it would be and more!

The main character is Whisper and when we are introduced to her she is still trying to come to terms with her parents dying. There is so much to admire about her: she's caring, intelligent, witty at times, and extremely passionate when it comes to rescuing animals. The family farm serves as a reserve for these animals that have nowhere else to go. It's obvious that Whisper has always had a love for animals, based on her memories, but I suspect it became more important to her after her parents died, since it was a big part of their lives as well. It certainly served to help her feel connected to them, by continuing their work. Her grandfather, Tinker, is a huge part of her life. They are very close and he's really the only person that knows exactly how she feels about her parents; he lost them too. There's a guy, Taregan, who works at the animal clinic and seem so to have some sort of romantic interest in Whisper. When we first meet him he seems innocent enough; just a boy with a crush. Things soon change though, which I'm not going to elaborate on. Mystery and intrigue enter the picture when Whisper happens to find a young man, Dylan, in the woods. He can't remember anything about who he is, but the connection between he and Whisper was very apparent early on. The characters were all so detailed and such great care was taken to develop them, that it was easy to forget that they don't really exist.

Let's talk a little more about the connection between Dylan and Whisper, shall we? I'm not sure there were ever two fictional book characters more right for each other. Even though Dylan couldn't remember a thing, the way he was with Whisper made me fall in love with him. He understood her without even knowing much about her, something most people who had been in her life for years could not do. I had a lot of respect for him from the beginning, especially after Whisper tells him what happened to her parents. There are so many sweet moments like this that just cement the fact that these two were meant to be together. Their relationship is actually much more complicated than it seems (yes that's an understatement, and yes, I realize I'm being cryptic). You'll just have to read it for yourself to find out what I mean.

I loved the mystery that surrounded Dylan. Who he really was, what he was doing in the woods that night, who might have wanted to hurt him. It made it impossible for me to put the book down. I enjoyed the ending immensely. Not only was it intense, but some mystery still remained as to how everything would work out.

It was hard to write this review, simply because I didn't want to give too much away. All you really need to know is that the characters and story are absolutely amazing and you will love the romance between Whisper and Dylan.

From the start of this book, the author was able to describe the deep sadness of the main character. The main character, Whisper, doesn’t even speak in the first paragraph and the reader is already feeling a strong sense of sadness. We don’t know why we are so sad but we feel what Whisper is feeling.

As Whisper’s best friend tries to bring her back to a sense of normalcy, I found myself wanting to resist the push to go out and mingle. It had been 5 months since Whisper’s world fell apart but it still felt too soon to start living again.

Whisper agrees to go out with her friend anyway but as expected, it ia becomes overwhelming and Whisper needs to find someplace to be alone. As she is walking in the woods, she hears someone calling for help. She locates the source of the distress and immediately calls for help. Help arrives and brings the injured boy to the hospital. When Whisper refuses to leave his side, we start to wonder is she being really nice or is she trying to help him in order to heal herself.

In the meantime, we are introduced to another guy from her life before it fell apart. He is very concerned about Whisper and tries to help her heal but she will not accept it.

As the story goes on, the two boys start playing bigger roles in Whisper’s life and the reader starts to wonder which boy is right for her. Is anything they are saying the truth?

As we figure out which guy is the right one, secrets start to unfold that leave the reader even more anxious than we had been up to this point. Whisper will have to make a decision that will make the wrong guy happy but the right guy upset. Seems like this decision would be a no-brainer but there are enough consequences with her different choices that there appears to be no good decision.

The author did such a wonderful job setting up the story that I could actually feel the emotions that the main character, Whisper, was going though. I was sad when Whisper was sad; unsure when she was trying to figure out the intentions of the two guys in the story; and conflicted as she tried to make a decision about how to deal with the secrets that were unfolding as the story went on.

I couldn’t put this book down. This was one of those books where the only reason I stopped reading is because it was 3:00am and I had to be up at 7:00. Even then, I was reluctant to stop reading. This is a paranormal romance but with a Cherokee legend twist in it that made it really different from other paranormal books I have read in the past.

This book stuck with me after finishing it. I keep thinking about the characters and how unique and interesting they are. I will probably end up reading this one again because I miss the characters and want to go on the journey with them again.

REVIEW:
As a big fan of Heather Hildenbrand’s Dirty Blood series I was excited to dig into her latest book Whisper. She crafted a wonderful story full of emotion, growth and romance that I enjoyed to the very end.
Whisper is a character full of strength, loosing her parents in one tragic day affected her in every way. She is no longer social and takes shelter in her own home, where her grandfather and the animals on their ranch comfort her. But one night after finding a boy, who has no memories, she becomes determined to help him and figure out what brought him to her.

Whisper pretty much went through hell and back; there are no words to describe loosing both your parents. Her best friend tries to bring her back to life by helping her get socialized. But her heart just can’t seem to care to be around others. I really felt for Whisper and loved how her safe zone was comforting animals who needed to be rescued, taking over where her mother left off.

Dylan came into Whispers life in an abrupt way and she was determined to not let him be alone. She wanted to help him, almost in a way since she couldn’t be there to help her parents. Their connection was strong and so sweet, I loved how he cared for her and was frustrated with not only his memories but also not wanting to hold her back from people. He’s pretty mysterious as the book goes on and trying to figure out who he was made the novel that much more captivating.

Then there was Taregan, boy was this guy frustrating and you really just want to hate him. I had no idea what this guy was up to and he seemed to really enjoy making it hard for Whisper instead of helping her like he says. The background behind him was really interesting, to see how he connected to both Whisper and Dylan. He brought a lot of the drama and tension that keep me on my toes.

Overall I this was really enjoyable, adding a unique story behind a Cherokee legend, I was curious on how everything was going to be pulled together and I was definitely happy in the end. With my family having Native American on my mother side, this story really makes me want to know more about my own culture. This is definitely a book to read and something you don’t want to miss out on.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that focuses on Native American Legends. Fans of authors Angeline Kace author of Descended by Blood and S.R. Johannes author of Untraceable will absolutely love Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand.

Ever since the night of her parents accident, Whisper's life has never been the same. She's immersed herself in a dark cloud of grieving, intent on forgetting the world around her. All of her plans went out the window the night she lost them. She now knows things will never be what she wants them to do. Sure, there are those who are trying their damnedest to make her take a look at the world around her once more. But how can she? She has nothing worth living for anymore.

A chance encounter with her best friend one day soon draws her out of her self-imposed exile. Determined to at least try to make her world a better place, she agrees to go with Erin to a bonfire. Who knows? Maybe it'll make her feel better about everything. Though things didn't turn out the way she thought they would, she now knows that there are larger things in life out there. All she has to do is embrace it.

Her life takes a different turn when she discovers a boy prone and bleeding in the woods. There's something about him that piques her interest, though she's not exactly sure as to the reason why. Whisper knows she can't leave him there to die, so she does the only thing she knows how to do. She finds him help in the hopes that he'll survive whatever has happened to him.

As the two form a bond between them, Whisper soon realizes that there's more to the boy than she could have ever imagined. His visions speak of things that haven't happened yet. Things she's sure might come to pass. If they're to succeed in piecing together the events that led him to where he is now, they'll need to trust in each other as they uncover secrets no one wanted them to know in the first place.

From the moment I began reading Whisper I knew it would take me places. I love Native American history, and this book is chock full of it. So much so, that it pulls you in from the very beginning.

I like the way Heather has made Whisper headstrong in the face of so much adversity. She's gone through so much, but she's determined in trying to face her past and her actions. Sure, it's hard to do, but she now has something worth living for. She's determined in seeing things through no matter what comes her way.

This is a book you're going to enjoy reading. Trust me on that. Heather utilizes Native American lore in such a way that it makes you want to learn more about it. I found myself researching along the way, let me tell you. It's great when a book does that. It really is. Can't wait to see what else Heather has in store for her readers. Thanks for a wonderful read.

I stood on the porch, trying not to look at the police cruisers parked in the driveway. And when I did look at them, I tried not to let the memories come. But that was like trying to stop water with your hands. Enough of it got through that you were going to get wet.

As I expected, I was totally engrossed in this book until the very end. I absolutely love Heather’s writing style and anytime she comes out with new work, I have to read it!

I must say that the feelings that I had in the beginning of the book were very dark and sad. When Whisper explains all that has happened to her surrounding her parent’s accident, I could not help but tear up. Heather uses such powerful words that I found my heart breaking for Whisper.

Whisper is a great character. She is a lot stronger than she thinks she is and I think by the end of the book, she was learning that! Dylan, oh sweet Dylan! Who would not love him? He is sweet and caring. Although, there were a couple of times throughout the book that I wondered what the heck he was up to? I know what he did was all for Whisper, but, geesh, give a girl a break.

I really enjoyed the Cherokee aspects of the book and I liked learning about the different legends. The rituals were very interesting and it made me want to research into it further.

All in all, I can say that it did not take me long to finish reading. It captivated my attention and I used every free moment to keep going. I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series!

“How would you know I was there?” His gaze locked on mine and I stilled, barely able to breathe. All trace of laughter disappeared from his expression. His stare was heavy to the point of paralyzing. “My soul would recognize you and wake me.” His voice was gravelly and low, barely above a whisper, but it filled my ears and raced straight to my heart. I felt a keen familiarity with this moment and with Dylan himself. It was more than déjà vu. It was something inside me recognizing something inside him.

My stalkee did really well with this one! I read this book in it's original version, and now with the re-release I reread it. It's, as Whisper says in this very book, "Indescribable" because awesome is not enough :) There's such a wonderful story here. A girl, who is grieving beyond belief at the loss of her parents is struggling to get on with her life, until she actually saves a boy herself. I love her probably because of her love of animals. But She takes it a step above and rescues him then takes him home. LOL

Whisper and Dylan's relationship and story will take you by surprise and completely captivate you. I think they healed each other. Dylan with his curse, needed to fix his past mistakes, and Whisper with her loss, needed to find a way to put herself back together. This story may be a little darker than some of her others, and though it's a stand alone, and not a series, it's still amazing. I can't say how quite wonderful it really is! And though some people won't understand, when you read this book, you may not get Whisper if you haven't ever had that kind of loss in your own life. I have, twice, so I completely get her.

Dylan is quite amazing, as is Whisper, but in a different way. He has a calmness about his that mirrors Whispers anxiety and stress. And even with Treagan, I don't know how Heather did it, but I ended up actually feeling for the bad guy. Seriously, you did so well with the characters and how well you developed them.

I will say that this is a fantastic book for anyone. Adult and young adult alike. There's mystery, and romance, and action, and supernatural things. I must say, this is one fantastic book! 5 PAWS!!! PS Heather, you totally made me cry at the dedication and I think of Tyler often just as I think of you :) You are so brave!

Whisper is certainly a different read compared to Heather's Previous Dirty Blood series. I was not disappointed what so ever and thoroughly enjoyed the Cherokee background and storyline that Heather has put forth.

The book is About Whisper - she has suffered severe depression due to the death of both her parents. She finally leaves the Wellness Clinic and comes home to try and start her life. She is finding it hard to move on. Luckily for Whisper she has Tinker and her aunt and Best friend to help her through her days.

Erin has convinced Whisper to get out and live a little - off they venture to a party and here is where Whispers’ life changes. She discovers an injured boy amongst the wilderness and takes him under her wing.

I really enjoyed the way in which Heather has put forth her characters once again in this story, all with realistic emotions well put forth and described. Her characters have depth and definition - true to life in which Heather has blende through very well. The storyline was fluent flowing - pulling the reader along to unravel the mystery she has put forth.

Whisper has twists and turns which only intrigued me to read on. It’s filled with Mystery, Murder, deceit, a little romance and a past that continually relives itself. Dylan and Whisper certainly had the chemistry sparking - there love for animals and the attraction for each other well put forth. ** grins ** ** heart throbs **

I enjoyed the backstory Heather put forth from Dylan's point of view , giving us a little insight into how the legend became about ;)

Overall, a great read for all those who love a paranormal that is certainly one of a kind. Cherokee background = blended through well - and heart-warming romance that will make you * sigh * ;)

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand is an amazing story of love and grief. I turned the last page feeling all the feels. Not many books can do that to me. I have a heart of stone...

Whisper is a Cherokee girl who experiences the tragic loss of her parents. She suffers to the point of attempted suicide and being admitted to a mental hospital. After being released and knowing how to cope with her grief, she tries to move on with her life. Then enters Dylan. A boy she finds badly hurt and helps nurse him back to life. Dylan awakens things in her that she didn't know existed. He is the key to her life, past, present and future.

Once again, Heather has blown me away. Not only is her writing captivating, but she knows how to pull you into her stories. You don't just read Heather's books, you live them.

I completely fell in love with every character in Whisper. From Whisper herself, to even the bad guy. Whisper is strong, caring and independent. She has been through hell, but she came out on top. She stood for what she believed in and took no crap from anyone. Her instant connection with Dylan was fantastic. In the process of saving his life, he saved hers. Dylan was everything. Gorgeous, protecting and loving. He awakes from his injuries with amnesia. The journey of him remembering who he is, is fascinating. One of my favorite book boyfriends to date!

Heather tackles so many issues in Whisper. Attempted suicide, tragic loss, murder, the list goes on. Whisper is full of Cherokee folk lore, magic and a sense of family that lasts hundreds of years.

I could talk about Whisper for hours, but I won't. What I will say is do yourself a favor and get your hands on this book. I absolutely loved it and I know you will too!

Whisper loses her parents in a terrible tragedy and is sent to the Skye View Wellness Center to get help with her feelings and thoughts. When she returns home to help with the animal rescue/fostering place Tinker runs she spends all her time with the animals. Her best friend talks her into finally going out to a bonfire one night and that is when she meets Dylan. She finds him knocked out in the woods and gets him help. She stays near him at the hospital and when he wakens she takes him home with her to help recover his strength and memory. There is more to him than she knows and more to her self she finds out.

This is my first book by Heather Hildenbrand but it won't be my last. I love the way she writes and the story is a great one. She weaves a magical spell with words and you find yourself in an amazing story about a girl who has been through a lot and keeps going. You get to see Whisper go from being a girl with an easy vibe to a girl who has suffered a terrible loss and is severely depressed, to a girl who is strong inside. This journey you go with Whisper is at times heartbreaking and at times you will be shocked at what all is revealed. The Indian heritage is a big part of this book and I think the author did a great job putting it all together. You won't regret it if you pick this up. The Cherokee legends are brought to life before your eyes and you never know what is going to happen. The love is a sweet one that you just keep hoping things work for the best for them and that they will defeat the evil one that is hunting Whisper. Want something that has some paranormal to it that isn't the normal vampires or werewolves give this a try.

Read the original review on my blog http://bookhoardermom.blogspot.com/20...

Whisper has lost so much. For the past six months she has been trying to deal with her parents deaths. So it's no surprise that when she comes across a boy unconscious and bleeding in the woods that she refuses to leave his side. She refuses to let him die. But could it be more than just an act of rescue? When the boy wakes with amnesia but starts having mysteriously real visions tied to himself and Whisper, they must ask themselves this very question. Could they be linked together by something more real and magical than Whisper could ever have imagined?

I absolutely fell in love with this book! I loved the rich Cherokee background and roots that made this story so magical to me. The characters are all so vivid and full of personality, especially Whisper so full of love, compassion , and hurt. The relationship between her and Dylan is so mysterious and alluring but yet at the same time so tender and sweet. You can't help but to feel a real connection with the characters whether it's love and compassion or contempt and disgust. The pace of the story is right on key with impeccable timing, that let's the story just flow so naturally with just the right amount of tension. This story has all the makings of a great read: love, romance, action , revenge, and destiny. I feel like this story will remain real to me for quite some time and will hold a spot on my favorites list for years to come.

I was lucky enough to recieve this book for review from the Author, I was so excited since I'm a huge fan of Heather Hildenbrand's Dirty Blood Series.

Heather truly know's how to capture her readers from the very first page and keep them on the edge of their seats through the whole book.

Right from the very beginning your taken on an emotional ride, I myself have never suffered such a loss but for Whisper to have suffered such a tragic loss and still find the courage she needed, it's just amazing. With Heather's unique writing style you truly could feel the emotion pouring from the pages, I was brought to tears many times. Here's a little something to go on...

"I stood on the porch, trying not to look at the police cruisers parked in the driveway. And when I did look at them, I tried not to let the memories come. But that was like trying to stop water with your hands. Enough of it got through that you were going to get wet."

Just amazing! *sniffles* wait till you keep reading!

The Cherokee legends and rituals were very interesting to read about and the way Heather's weaved them into the story well, you truly do learn something new everyday.

I absolutely LOVED this book, I'd recommend it to anyone that loves to read something new and exciting, it truly is a page turner. Heather has just blown me away again! :)
