Sharee Stover reunites us with the Heartland Fugitive Task Force (HFTF) in Guarded by the Marshal. I love a second chance romance, and this one fits the bill perfectly!
New to her department, police Chief Dani Fontaine gets a visit from US Marshall and HFTF head Beckham Walsh, a man she hasn’t seen in decades, about missing weapons from her department’s evidence lockup. Walsh has lived his life for the job, whether while in the military or in law enforcement.
Now Dani has to work with the man she blames for almost ending her career those years earlier. They need to catch a criminal, avoid the target on Dani’s back, and care for a friend’s baby daughter. Dani and Walsh both hold heavy emotional burdens. Could the Lord help each of them give those burdens to Him and make room in their hearts for each other? You will definitely want to find out, plus it has my favorite, an epilogue!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Guarded By The Marshall is an exciting story of protecting a baby from a killer.
It's a story of second chances and a leak in the sheriff's department, which Dani is the chief of. Enter her ex. Beckham Walsh, a man who she believes, used her at another time in a sting operation.
With killers after them, they must work together to find the leak, missing guns, and a killer while protecting Dani's friends' baby.
This book was so exciting and kept me reading until the end.

This is a story that starts slow and then rolls to an exciting conclusion. Dani and Beckham have to work together to solve a case of missing firearms and protect a friend’s baby daughter too. Twists and turns lead them on a trail that takes them in many directions and also helps each of them deal with their pasts in hopes of a brighter future together.

I really liked that Beckham and Dani are in their early 50’s and considering retirement. Both are questioning whether their identities are too wrapped up in their jobs and what the future holds. The end of the story shows that there are always options and the future is bright.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

Love, love, love Sharee Stover’s books and Guarded by the Marshal does not disappoint! In this book we get to learn more about the commander of the Heartland Fugitive Task Force, Beckham Walsh. He has to work with police chief, Danielle Fontaine on a very sensitive case. Will their history impede their ability to work together to save babyTessa? Whether you have read Stover’s books before or not this is a great quick read! The only downfall about this book is that my housework took a back seat until I was done reading!!

Dani Fontaine is the Chief of Police in Grand Island, NE. When she receives a phone call from her friend and co-worker, she doesn’t expect to be ambushed with gunfire…or to find her friend’s baby at the scene. US Marshal Beckham Walsh has been a loner for many years, which makes him great at his job, but not without fallout from others in his life. One of those fallout relationships just happened to be Dani, many years prior. She has not forgiven him for the events that transpired all those years ago, but is willing to work with him to find out what happened to her friend. Through all of the danger and suspense, they find out that they still share faith in God and attraction to each other. Grab this book to see if Beckham gets his happily ever after! I highly recommend it! I received an advance copy of this book from BookFunnel and the author. That in no way influenced my honest review.

If you are one of those readers that loves a book that keeps you up all night till you finish, then this is the book for you! Explosions! Gun fire! Kidnapping! Edge of your seat suspense at its finest!

Chief of Police Dani Fontaine is left with her friend’s abandoned baby, but she never would expect what comes with having this baby. Her life may come with a cost to keep this baby alive. She will join forces with her former boyfriend, Marshal Beckham Walsh to find the culprit of a heist of missing guns in the department. Is this an inside job? Can they make it out alive to find our culprit?

You will just have to pick up this book to find out! This book can be read as a standalone in the Heartland Fugitive Task Force series. I was given an ARC, but these are all my opinions.

Guarded by the Marshal by Sharee Stover had me perched on the edge of my seat in anticipation the whole time. The added presence of an infant added a new element all the intense situations. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and I can’t wait for the next!

This read definitely has it’s fair share of twists and turns! I enjoyed the mystery elements of this one and seeing the HFTF team again. It’s a fun read with an exciting ending. I will admit to being a little annoyed with Walsh’s judgments of a suspect through the story, but in the end it’s all resolved and it does help create definite tension between Walsh and Dani during the case. Enjoyable read

GUARDED BY THE MARSHAL by Sharee Stover is the second book in the Heartland Fugitive Task Force series. It is the fast-paced, spine tingling suspense story of Garland Island Police Chief Danielle “Dani” Fontaine and Heartland Fugitive Task Force commander Beckham Walsh. Their jobs require them once again to work together - 30 years later in what appears to be on opposing sides – again.

Dani notified HFTF when she received an anonymous text about missing evidence giving a case number and missing item. That’s how she’s found herself facing this man from her past. It seems the past is trying to repeat itself with Walsh proclaiming her fellow worker and friend guilty without proof. While she had misplaced her trust 30 years ago in a man that she respected and worked for, she’s not ready to label her friend as a criminal. Jayne won’t gamble with her job, her life or her baby girl to do what others are trying to blame her of – would she?

Walsh’s working a multi- jurisdictional illegal weapons operation. The missing evidence is essential to being able to convict the hardened criminal and trafficking leader Enrique Pranchank. They must find it! Talking to Jayne is priority number. When a frantic call comes in with just time to give a location where to meet with Jayne before the call drops, Walsh is definitely going with Dani and Knox, her Doberman and Great Dane mix trained in evidence recovery & explosives detection, to this meeting.

Soon after arriving and before Jayne can say much, there’s a big shootout that leaves Jayne fighting for her life and her baby found safe in a locker. Having previously talked about her taking custody of Tessa in case of an emergency, Dani knows she has to take care of this precious baby girl until her mother is well enough to do so. But what does she know about taking care of a baby?

Dani is introduced to the Rock, headquarters for the HTFT crew, who accept her into their fold even if they aren’t especially on the “Jayne is innocent” side. With them all working together, they are bound to find out the truth. Dani just hopes her faith in Jayne hasn’t been misplaced.

Will working together help both Walsh and Dani to make peace with the past? Can they protect Tessa until her mother can care for her? Can Jayne recover from her injuries? Or will Dani become the legal guardian of this sweet, innocent child? Where will their clues come from and how far will they have to travel to search them out? Who is out to kill them and who is their main target? Have old feelings died or do they rekindle with proximity?

GUARDED BY THE MARSHAL is a magnificent story from the first page to the last. Love the way Sharee Stover shows the flaws in the characters (how each tries to compensate for their short comings or their past) and the devotion to friendship (within the HFTF members and between Dani and Jayne) with both adding greatly to the emotional pull to this story. The romance from the past and the realization of errors on both parts allows for a slow bloom of a second chance romance throughout this heart-tugging story. The fast-paced danger and suspense makes this a book that’s impossible to put down once you start reading it. Sharee Stover gives us a story of searching for the truth, justice for those that have done wrong or been wronged within the legal system, friendships, forgiveness, acceptance and second chances all wrapped in a thread of faith. GUARDED BY THE MARSHAL is positively FIVE STAR reading that I highly recommend to everyone! Although part of a series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone book.

I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Police chief Dani Fontaine gets a visit from the man she blames for almost tanking her career. Deputy U.S. Marshal Beckham Walsh arrives in her precinct because there are missing weapons from her evidence locker. When she receives an emergency call from Jayne, one of her employees, she goes to her immediately. She is going to get a little more than she bargained for. After a shooting, Jayne is in the hospital in critical condition. She has left instructions that Dani is to take care of her child. Everyone believes Jayne is guilty because she had access to the stolen weapons.

Dani has to deal with the mystery of the stolen weapons, caring for a baby and keeping her safe, while also trying to get past her feelings of betrayal that Beck almost ruined her career. Then to make matters worse now it seems someone wants to kill her, and she may have a leak. She also does not want to believe Jayne could possibly be involved, even though everyone around her is convinced of Jayne's guilt.

The suspense is high and the danger levels are at code red. It seems they are not safe anywhere they go. As they work together on this case, both Beck and Dani realize that they may have made incorrect assumptions about the other one. Their only goal is the pursuit of justice and keeping the baby safe from harm.

As usual in Sharee Stover's books, you can count on wonderful members of the unit having four legs instead of two. These heroes often save the day and always add a plus to the storyline. This book has everything it promises - love, inspiration and suspense. It is quick read that is well worth your time.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Guarded by the Marshal. I really enjoy Sharee's books so I was glad to get this one in the mail. I'm from Broken Bow, Nebraska so I thought it was awesome to read a book that actually mentioned Broken Bow. I lived in Valentine for awhile and she mentioned it too. I loved that. The story is well-written, action-packed, and full of intrigue. I know you are going to love this book.

Grand Island Police Chief Dani Fontaine is trying to explain things to her ex when she gets a call from her good friend and evidence tech. She needed to talk to Dani right away. In person. They head to Broken Bow to meet with her but find Jayne just before she is shot. They also find her baby locked in a closet. What is going on?

Heartland Fugitive Task Force Commander Deputy US Marshal Beckham Walsh is investigating the disappearance of evidence for an important case. It disappeared in the Grand Island Police Station. He was now facing his ex to get answers to his questions. She had none. He left with her when the woman they needed to talk to called for her to meet her.

A terrifying journey to find out what is going on with a target on their backs. God has a plan for these two broken souls, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

Guarded by the Marshal by Sharee Stover is part of her Heartland Fugitive Task Force series. This one centers on the leader himself Deputy US Marshal Beckham Walsh. He hasn't seen his former sweetheart in 30 years, but police chief Dani Fontaine still has the power to draw him in and infuriate him at the same time. When Dani Fontaine gets a call from her friend, she never expected to get shot out or to have to care for her friend's baby daughter. As her and the baby are on the run and searching for the a leak in her department, Beckahm Walsh and the Heartland Fugitive task force series work alongside. Tension is high between Beckam and Dani as they battle old hurts and misunderstandings along with the assailants that want Dani and her friend's baby dead. It will take a miracle and the whole gang to survive this one. I really enjoyed reading this one especially because Beckham and Dani were older officers. They were in their 50s and it was refreshing to see a book centered on an older couple. It had all the tension and action plus cute dogs and an adorable baby girl. It was great reading about the HFTF gang and what was happening with them. They were a major part of the story, but this totally a standalone novel. Of course, it had an epilogue. I loved it! I can't wait to read the next Sharee Stover book. I was given a book, but all opinions are my very own.

The Heartland Fugitive Task Force (HFTF) is back in the limelight again, along with their commander, Beckham Walsh. When evidence disappears under their jurisdiction, the Grand Island Police are drawn into a joint operation with HFTF and ATF. Chief Danielle Fontaine of the Grand Island police is very sure her evidence tech, Jayne, is not to blame. But who is to say, when Jayne’s life hangs in the balance?

The action never lets up in this investigation. For Beckham, there is history with Danielle, something he does not want to confront. But with unexpected accidents, explosions and endless shots fired you start to wonder if anyone will survive long enough to find the truth. Can they both learn that their identity needs to be rooted in the Lord? All other changes are not important.

An early copy was received through Love Inspired Suspense and BookFunnel. These impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Join Sharee Stover again in the Heartland Fugitive Task Force (HFTF) Series. In Guarded by the Marshal you find out more about the leader of the task force, Deputy US Marshal Beckham Walsh and Police Chief Dani Fontaine. These two have a past history together and Dani blames him for almost ruining her career. However, can they put these differences aside as shots are fired and they must keep a child safe while searching for the stolen weapons. Each step they take it seems to become more dangerous and perilous and the target on their back seems to becoming bigger the closer they are to uncovering the truth. You also get to see the other members for HFTF that you have fell in love with in past books, but you won't be lost if you are just now picking up this series! Highly recommend and can't wait for the next adventure with Sharee!

Grab your seatbelt for this action packed book! I thought I knew how the Guarded by the Marshal would end but then something would happen to make wonder! This is definitely a fast paced story as Police Chief Dani Fontaine responds to a call and finds her employee and friend's abandoned baby. Protecting the baby becomes Dani's top priority! She is forced to work with deputy US Marshal Beckham Walsh who she had a romantic relationship with 20 years ago that ended in him almost destroying her career! Did you ever try searching for stolen weapons while caring for a baby? You won't want to miss this new book by Sharee Stover. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Beckham Walsh, who seems to think that he is in control of the universe and not God, must be put in his place by his little sister Marissa. He thinks he controls the future of his ex-girlfriend Dani Fontaine and Tessa, the baby in her care. They are all running from a would-be murderer who shot at Jayne, Tessa's mom and Dani's coworker, and Walsh thinks that he is the one who will protect them and keep them safe, while it is really only God who can ensure that anyone will see another day. Will Walsh learn to rely on God, so that he can do his job with help from above, or will he keep getting in God's way?

What a wonderful story. It was well written with amazing characters. This is definitely a page turner filled with suspense, twists and turns as well as lots of action. Dani must team up with her ex-boyfriend, Beckham, to find missing guns from Dani's department and who committed the heist. All this is done while caring for her friend's baby. Neither one expected all of this including trying to avoid the danger from those who are after them. This is filled with so much suspense you won't be able to turn the pages fast enough.

Letting go and letting God is the phrase that comes to mind after reading this book! Another great read that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was definitely rooting for Dani and Walsh to let go of their insecurities and get on with it already. I promise you won't see the end coming. I had no idea how the story was going to end and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the villain wasn't anyone I already liked haha.

This book will keep you guessing until the very end! There is action, suspense, and interesting characters (that include a baby and K-9s). I want a dog like Knox!! Another plus is that the main characters, chief Dani Fontaine and Deputy US Marshall Beckham Walsh are "older" characters which also make this story so interesting. If you like suspense/action stories, this is for you. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
