My fate was sealed the moment I kidnapped an alpha wolf—but I swear I have a good reason! Fine, I screwed up. But what’s done is done…
I have a secret, but it’s one I never share because I hate when people give me ‘the look.’ The pitying look they give when saying things like, “but you look so healthy!” or “you’re so young!” Look, Karen, health problems aren’t reserved for old people.
At least I can forget about my problems when I’m working on my life project. It’s nearly finished, and it’s something that’ll save lives. It won’t help me, but it will solidify my legacy long after I’m gone. The issue is I need just a little more time, and that means I need to get a werewolf to bite me. Unfortunately, that is taboo, since a simple thing like a bite comes with so many complications.
I thought my plan was perfect. Who am I kidding? My plan absolutely sucked, but desperate times called for desperate measures. I chose the perfect alpha. We have history, and I hoped—if it came to begging—he’d see value in helping with my cause. Except things don’t go as planned and I’m left howling at the unjustness of it all. But it turns out, I might have kidnapped more than I bargained for… it seems I’ve captured his heart.
Alpha Captured is a standalone with a HEA... so no cliffhanger to be found here! It features plenty of tension, humor, and steam. This book is scheduled to release earlier than the date shown.
Darci R. Acula is Sedona Ashe's not-so-secret pen name. Sedona's books tend to focus on Reverse Harem relationships, while Darci's books feature only MF relationships.
Darci (aka Sedona) doesn’t reserve her sarcasm for her books; her poor husband can tell you that her wit, humor, and snarky attitude are just part of her daily life. While she loves writing paranormal shifter reverse harem novels, she’s a sucker for true love, twisted situations, and wacky humor.
Darci lives in a small town at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. She and her husband share their home with their three children, adorable pup, five cats, pet arctic fox, chickens, and over a hundred other reptiles. When she isn’t working, she enjoys getting away from the computer to hike, free dive, travel, study languages, and capture images of places and animals through her photography. Darci has a crazy goal of writing a million words in a year, and spending six months exploring Indonesia.
I read the whole book in one stand on the train It was kinda fun It was easy to figure out something was going on It was also a little bit sad that for both heroes the travel let's call it was the most exciting I mean she is super cool and moral and smart and all of that I have more questions about him Also ,here come spoilers By the mood of the book and disclaimers i was kinda expecting that someone was going to die But then there was all this mating connection so I guess if one dies so does another Anyway it's just that the vibe changed

This review took me awhile to actually make. Not because I didn't like the book or anything...just because this is a novella and I had to wrap my head around making a fair review for it. It's been awhile since I've read a novella. This one was nice. Since the characters already knew each other it was easy for them to come back together. Learning just how the knew each other made everything very interesting. This was definitely a funny and silly bit of high jinks. I think that this would be a very nice short pallet cleanser type of read for anyone who was in need of something to clear their mind after something heavy and dark. Though this definitely actually had it's sad moments. Learning how they knew each other was very sad. Also learning about what was actually going on with Lilou also made things sad. Other than that it's a very light story. Since this was a short read there wasn't really much spice in it. I give it a 2 out of 5. There was something there but it just wasn't anything to really bat your eyes at. Overall I'm giving this book a 3 because it was enough to draw you into the characters and want more for them but it was also just really short. You don't get too invested in them. When things start to turn, you kinda are just like oh...that's happening. It is a nice little pallet cleanser like I said. I'd recommend this to just about anyone. It wasn't a lot of anything top make you have to really specify...other than the fact they were shifters. Which after awhile wasn't a very prevalent thing since I think they mainly shifted less than a handful of times.
First off Lilou is someone I can totally resonate with. She is clumsy and awkward but also super smart. Unfortunately she is dying and needs a little more time to finish her research so she concocts a crazy plan that would never work in a desperate attempt to complete her life's work before it ends and is sold to the highest bidder.
Beckett is on his way to a meeting when he is suddenly grabbed by a woman who says she is kidnapping him. This "kidnapping" is ridiculous but there is something about the woman that he remembers and now he wants to know what she wants.
Lilou has no solid plan and the worst luck ever so she knows there is actually no way this will work in her favor but she is desperate enough to try. As the kidnapping progresses she realizes that Beckett knows who she is and is only still in her company because he wants to know what she could possibly want from him. She has to decide what to tell him and hope that he will agree with her. the problem is she doesn't actually realize what she is asking or what it would cost either of them.
Can they come together to make a plan so that she is able to complete her work? What will the cost of this end up being?
This is filled with mishaps, memories, sadness, fear, and revelations. I laughed so much during the kidnapping incident my husband thought I had lost my mind. I absolutely love Lilou and Beckett and you will too.
This seemed very rushed. It's literally taking away from the story. It should have been longer to flow more and give more to the plot. The ending wasn't even a full conclusion, it was rather disappointing. I used to love this authors work. Always comical and usually spicy. But lately, it seems they aren't very long and are rushed. Like, what about her lifes work? This magical drug that helps with transplant patients or the other drug or whatever that was supposed to help wolves be able to get blood transfusions? There really wasn't that much effort put into the plot and the layout. Why bother focusing on her completing her lifes work for it to be cut short with no further follow-up? I mean, it was left off with her running from the conference and saying her assistant, who we hadn't even heard of till that moment, could give the speech. But no epilogue or anything to show the future where she is heading it and her lifes dream comes to fruition and is actually being used? Or her even meeting the pack or even why and how she managed to live when it led up to her dying no matter what, especially when she took wolf form.... missing a lot of information to make this a much better story. Bit disappointing for this author who used to deliver. So, to cap, rushed not much of an ending and very little spice. I really expected better. It is a cute short read.
Darci's humor shines through this heart-warming and sizzling romance novel as the FMC battles an illness and her own bad luck. After kidnapping a drool-worthy alpha to help her cause, Lilou has to come to terms with A) she might not be the best at this whole kidnapping thing and B) she might have bit off more than she can chew, even if she'd like to take a bite! As the couple works through their newfound attraction, they have to make tough decisions to get to their HEA. I give this romance 4 stars! I especially enjoyed multiple laugh-out-loud moments and some suspense at the end that I hadn't anticipated! Overall recommended standalone read! 🐺 📚
Favorite quotes: "I’ve never met anyone like you, and you’ve turned my very black and white world into a kaleidoscope of color.”
“What the fork are you doing?” I asked, my eyebrows drawing together in confusion as he brought the piece of steak toward my mouth again. “Are you… Are you doing the airplane?” “Yes. Now, open up.” He waited for me to obey his order, and when I did, he fed me the bite. His gaze heated as he continued to stare at my mouth..."
"If she got hurt because I was being an honorable prude, I’d never forgive myself. And if I was being honest, the temptation to be near her was hard to resist."
“This room isn’t a judgment-free zone. Baby sharks? Really, Becks?” I dissolved into giggles as he scowled...“It’s a catchy tune.” The big bad wolf’s skin darkened as he blushed. “Don’t you dare judge me.”
Apologies for the delay in review comments— life got in the way for a brief spell!
I loved this! A very quick read, I found myself wanting this to be a full fledged novel instead of a novella. It was so enjoyable! I did t know where things were going when our FMC pulled off a kidnapping right at the start of the story, but I was fully committed to the ride!
Our main characters are Lilou and Beckett (aka Becks). The two meet again after several years’ estrangement immediately following a shared traumatic loss. ( Note: take heed of the trigger warnings if you have sensitivities to those elements!)
The author does a great job peppering the initially awkward conversation between characters with amusement, banter, gravitas, and anxiety. I know, that may sound odd but you need to read it to know what I mean!
I love Lilou and Beckett’s dynamic . My heart broke at her predicament and at his being put between a rock and a hard place at her unusual request. Their chemistry was enjoyable — I’m a total sucker for banter and this had it! I also love a good unrequited love / second chance/ forbidden(ish) love situation, too.
This is a very quick, enjoyable read that took 2 days for me only because I was super busy. The entire time I wasn’t reading it, I wanted you to be reading it!
You should give this one a try, and definitely check out this author’s other works if you’re not familiar with her! She had a very enjoyable writing style, and I’m truly excited to read more from her!!
Cute and Heartwarming story of Lilou and Beckett. Lilou has less than a few weeks to live unless she can find a cure for the mutation disease she has. Realizing the necessary component was easy; getting the necessary component is where the hilarity of the story comes in.
Lilou needs a werewolf bite but not just any wolf but an Alpha. Lilou sets her plan in motion to kidnap Beckett. Beckett is the local pack's Alpha who has been working hard to keep his pack safe. Lilou and Beckett has history together because Beckett's Mate was also Lilou's best friend and they formed a connection the night they lost her.
Lilou's kidnapping antics were so funny and super cute. She was so adorable that Beckett went along with her "captivity" just for his amusement.
This story had it all: Humor, Angst, Loss, Grief, Betrayal, Friendship, Loyalty and Second Chances. In the short time that Beckett was Lilou's "prisoner" he and his wolf decided sickness or not they were not going to let Lilou go because she was their second chance and they wouldn't lose her under any circumstance.
I wasn't sure how the author was gonna turn things around knowing that Lilou had so little time left but the answer to her problems was indeed discovered in her research but unbeknownst to her and Beckett; her little experiment worked better than she could have ever imagined.
I love a good wolf shifter romance. They are usually my favorite books to read. I hadn’t read any books by this author yet but was excited to read this one when I came across it. I was not disappointed.
This book was on the shorter side of the books that I have read lately, but I found the length to be perfect. For the most part, it was light and funny with just a small dash of angst, enough to keep the story engaging. I was able to fly through the story and quickly fall in love with the characters.
At the beginning of this story, Lilou seemed to be a clumsy, awkward girl who had rushed into a plan that was not thought out at all. But as the story progresses, you find she is an intelligent but desperate woman. Beckett is sweet and charming and adds to the humor that Lilou provides at the beginning of the story.
This story was a great story to read after having finished a long, heavy, emotional story. I found myself smiling more than not while reading and I was very engaged in the story, reading it quickly. The one thing I did wish was that it had gone into some of the stories of these characters deeper, but that would have probably taken away from the lightness of the book. There was spice, but not too much and was a great story to read as a break from some of the roughness that life brings.
Okay, so Lilou's my girl: passionate about doing what's right and willing to cross her own lines (kidnapping) to achieve it. Clumsy beyond all bounds of reason and socially awkward without a doubt, but smart and kind-hearted.
I have loved Darci's work (under all her pen names) because of her unique brand of humor and off-the-wall sayings (seriously, some of her phrases need to be memorialized in cross-stitch!). This book is no different in that it takes a tragic story (she's dying of an inescapable disease) and injects this off-beat humor into it and somehow makes you fall in love with these tragic characters by the end of almost 200 pages.
The softhearted Beckett humors her attempts to kidnap him, and we see this tentative love grow between this well-meaning woman who is desperate to complete her life's work and keep it from being sold to the highest bidder (admirable) and this hesitant alpha who's gone through life altering pain. Did I mention this all happens in less than 200 pages?! How does Darci get us to become so attached in such a short period of time?
Once I started this book, I could not put it down until I was done. It made me sniffle, laugh, rail against the injustices of the world, and it will make you do all that, too. I highly recommend if you need a little light in your life, or need to remember the sparks of good out there.
The books I’ve read by this author so far are pretty short, cute, fun and a little bittersweet; making them the perfect palate cleansers or short standalones to read before starting a new series. “Alpha Captured” was exactly that for me. It starts off fun with lots of moments that put a smile on my face, but there are deeper layers involved where other emotions come out to play.
As a result, it’s quite easy to fall in love with the main characters, which is a hard thing to achieve in a shorter read. Lilou is great, and once we get her entire life story she becomes truly amazing. I enjoyed the banter between her and Beckett a lot, and the love they share is so beautiful, mainly because it isn’t perfect. They have to find a way to deal with differences, a past and an unpredictable future, making it a relatable love story.
It was actually the blurb of this story that led me to this author’s pen name, and I’m happy to have given her a chance. I’m looking forward to find out what other stories she’ll be releasing in the future.
Lilou and Beckett’s story is full of love, laughter, grief and healing.
Lilou is dy1ng and she wants enough time to finish her research. Her answer to her problem? Capture an alpha werewolf and convince him to bite her. While the bite won’t cure her, she hopes it gives her enough time.
Beckett lost his mate years ago and when Lilou “kidnaps” him, he goes along for the ride just to see what she will do. Lilou does not think he remembers her, but he definitely does. She was his mate’s best friend.
This was a wonderful story to read. The dialogue was standard for this author full of wit and humor. The banter between Lilou and Beckett only enhanced this story. I loved both characters. He finds her quirks charming and adorable. She finds him still drool worthy and still has wonderful as he was when she first saw him in college and developed a crush.
The plot moved nicely, and my heart broke for Lilou when Beckett turned her down. This story does have a HEA and the road they take to get there, while bumpy, is worth being traveled.
The middle gets a bit repetitive, with the internal monologue of both characters repeating some of the same thoughts several times. A novella can’t really spare space in filler like this. It needs to develop the characters quickly and create an emotional impact. Ultimately, it fails to do that.
Lilou is suffering from a fatal illness, but we don’t have any details. She’s a scientist who is about to create medicine that will help people, but we don’t know if it’s for her illness or some other sickness (turns out it’s something else, I think). She needs more time to finalize her research, or maybe not, since it took a couple of days and she had an assistant who understood it all.
We know very little about Beckett other than that he’s an alpha who lost his fated mate. Why is he attracted to Lilou? What does it mean to be an alpha when his pack will easily fall apart or turn on him?
It’s an HEA. I don’t know why Lilou survives in the end, since the whole book assured us she would die either way, but she does.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book. I wasn’t sure what I expected from this book but I very much enjoyed reading it. This book has more serious themes than this author often explores. The main character Lilou is dying. Before she dies, she wants to complete her research and share it publicly before any corporations could take full ownership of it and make it cost ridiculous amounts. She kidnaps Beckett, an alpha wolf her friend was mated to. The friend died quite a while ago. Lilou wants Beckett to bite her to partially turn her into a wolf. This would make them mates and give her more time to finish her work. Beckett doesn’t want to lose another mate and is very attracted to her so he fights the connection. I won’t spoil the rest but the ending was satisfying though I anticipated the twist. I like how respectfully this book explored the theme of death and knowing you are going to die soon.
I love a cute short read, and Darci never disappoints! She had me cackling at baby shark discussion... IYKYK!
The main plot twist is beautifully dragged out, keeping you on the edge of your seat without giving too much away. The relationship between the two main characters is sizzling hot, and I loved how their past is hinted at, adding depth as their relationship grows.
Lilou, with her ridiculous antics, is literally me! Her character is relatable and endearing, bringing a light-hearted touch to the story. Beckett, the delectable and super sweet alpha, is irresistibly drawn to Lilou, and their chemistry is off the charts.
"Alpha Captured" is a standalone with a HEA, so no cliffhangers here! It features plenty of tension, humor, and steam, making it a perfect read for fans of paranormal romance. Darci R. Acula has once again delivered a captivating story that will leave you wanting more. Highly recommended!
Lilou is on the brink of finishing her life's work, a lifesaving drug. Unfortunately, Lilou is dying and her only solution to extend her life and finish her research is to kidnap an alpha werewolf. Unfortunately, kidnapping a werewolf is not an easy task.
Alpha Captured is a quick read at less than 200 pages. It was fun, fast, and a great break from more intense books. I enjoyed it, but I also had to set aside some of the silliness. Lilou is not the sharpest crayon in the box, so I had to accept that desperation would drive her to some poor life choices because otherwise the book has no plot. I also thought the ending was rushed. It's really hard to deep dive into a story when the book is so short. However, if you are looking for a quick, fun, romantic fantasy read, this is your book. The writing was well done, and it's a 4 star read for me!
*Thank you to the Author who gifted me with an e-ARC*
This book is just everything you want in a romance and I could not stop reading - I finished it in one night!
Its an easy read at only just over 160 pages BUT its jammed pack with everything from kick-your-feet and squeal banter to mildly spicy scenes, heart stopping romance, plot twists, emotional moments and a solid plot!
Not to mention that Beckett is my new crush *Sigh* - he is just sooo dreamy
Follow Lilou as she kidnaps an alpha wolf with a vibrating "gun" 😂 and watch as their enemies-to-lovers story unfolds. With laugh-out-loud moments, sizzling tension, and unexpected depth, this book will keep you hooked from start to finish!
🔥 Steamy romance 😂 Hilarious mishaps 💔 Second chance at love 🌟 Life-changing research
The description sounded interesting and like it would be funny. To be honest it tried to be a lot of things, it tried to be emotional and funny, but it fell flat. This story lacks the depth and realism needed to bring it to life. The FMC is supposed to be a scientist making a cure with possibly weeks left to live and won't complete her research in time ... Yet she then completes it in one day including all the trials... And then there is no conclusion to what happens with it. It only feels included to give the FMC virtue, with the writer not doing any research to make them sound knowledgeable on the subject. There are some funny concepts in the kidnapping but the delivery wasn't enough to make me laugh. I don't connect with either the male or female lead as neither feels real or contains any depth. The writing just feels very immature. Currently this story is a concept, a first draft. If more research is done, if it's fleshed out a bit more and more depth added it might be a good book.
Dive into Alpha Captured. It’s got everything from kidnapping to baby sharks to lollipops 🍭
Li is a spunky woman on a mission with terrible luck. Becket is a sexy alpha with a sad past who is bored with life and needs something more. There is a definite spark between them that slowly grows into more. Becket is everything you want in a male lead and then some.
This was a quick and fun, easy read. The love story is a slow burn with a happy, satisfying ending.

Lilou is in the race with death’s time lock to finish the life saving drug she’s been dedicating her life to. Her only chance to beat it is kidnapping an alpha wolf, Beckett.
The banter between Lilou and Beckett is funny in the short, enjoyable, sweet read by Darci R. Acula. I also loved how sensitive Beckett is.

Thank you to Darci R. Acula and literaryinspired for this ARC
While I love everything Sedona and all of her various pen names have to offer. This book was incredible!! I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want to! Beckett and Lilou are the perfect couple. Lilou is a hot mess, and Beckett finds her chaos and clumsiness charming. A kidnapping followed by a crazy amount of sexual tension followed up by a happy ending! You could not ask for a better rollercoaster of emotions. One minute you’re laughing at their antics the next you’re on the verge of tears! 100 out of 10!! Totally recommend, if you haven’t read it yet what are you waiting for?!?
DNF @ 76% and I fought to get to 76%. The first couple chapters I was in love with this book! Giggling, blushing from secondhand embarrassment, and loving it all. The vibrator gun, are you KIDDING?!? 😂😭 But it went downhill fast. A lot of this book needs to be fleshed out a lot more. There needed to be more explanation of the relationship at the beginning. There needed to be more conflict and tension- being surprised they were into each other and trying to fight it because of the best friend, not cuddling and showering together after a couple hours despite she smelled like his dead mate? Weird. Then after passing several lines he suddenly wants to fight the attraction? Weird weird weird.
Yet another enjoyable read by Darcie R. Acula. It’s a short, sweet and funny novella sized treat. I loved Lilou and the circumstance she creates at the beginning (and it’s charming just how poorly she executes things). I would have enjoyed an extended version of Lilou and Beckett journey but also understand that Alpha Captured wasn’t intended to be a long drawn out story either.
I recommend checking it out and let me know if you are chuckling within the first 20 or so pages.
Thank you Darci R. Acula and Literary Inspired for my ARC copy.
I loved that this wasnt a typical werewolf romance that I usually read, a breath of fresh air. It was more focused on the motive and romance which I really appreciated. There is a twist near the end and I was partically shocked by.
I also enjoyed the banter between Lilou and Becks, it made me chuckle outloud. 😆
Spicy Rating 🌶🌶 out of 5 Low on the spice but def more foreplay than anything, thats why it gets two peppers. 😏 Alot of chemistry between Lilou and Bennett, so it brought the perfect amount of sexual tension.
Awesome book. Quick read. Lilou and Beckett meet each other during an kidnapped and how could she tamed him could the romance and the passion created a beautiful and spicy love connection. It was heartwarming of magical chemistry and the physical attraction was sensation. They were both from two different worlds.and could love be the key and destiny of being together in a steamy moment. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfuneel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones
I love this book. The humor, the angst, the tension, and the spice are all top tier for me. It’s got so many good things going for it and the characters are super fun. Lilou and Beckett are pretty adorable together, and shes got some attitude and work effort. I hate that shes having issues but i know it leads to the story being even better because i get more invested in her character when she has to overcome something. I love that this didn’t have a cliffhanger cause while those are fun they usually bum me out. All in all a great read, and one i hope continues in the next.
Cute and Heartwarming story. The main FMC has only a few weeks to live unless she can find a cure. She has to be bit by an alpha werewolf in order to live. She decides to kidnap the neighboring alpha, who was her best friend’s mate. Beckett (the alpha) decides to go along with the abduction for his own entertainment. In turn the FMC (lilou) is Becketts second chance mate, so her experiment worked better than she thought it would. This story has it all; humor, loss, betrayal, friendship and second chances.
Totally Amazed!!!. This book has it all. It starts out humorous and every page will make you laugh. A little human kidnaps an alpha wolf. I mean really? But read on. Her reason why is a matter of life and death. So all heartache as her days are numbered. She needs him to fulfill her life long work. Before she dies. So how does it end? Read it and see. You will not be disappointed with all the twists and turns this Rollercoaster ride takes you on.
Wow, what an amazing, beautiful story that had you wishing for more. So here we meet Lilou as she kidnaps Beckett in an attempt to get him to mark her so she can complete her life's work. This story had me giggling right from the very beginning. There was such a great balance of funny, sweet, and serious that just captivated you and had you eagerly reading each page. I definitely recommend reading this book.
Loved it!! I loved it all!! The storyline kept me captivated all the way through!!
Lilou and Beckett's story was filled with a mixture of emotions. Sadness, pain, love, and hope. I honestly wanted to hug them both throughout the story. We also got humor, a little spice, and a bite of action towards the end.
I adored both characters and I'm so glad they got a happy ending. I loved how the author wrapped up their story so perfectly.
Lilou and Beckett have met before but when she decides to kidnap him, her intentions are to finish her life saving project before she dies herself. Her request from him is met with apprehension which drives this story, and the progress of their growing relationship is not only spicy but heart wrenching. This book was full of great moments that made for a fantastic read.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
