This was such an entertaining read from start to finish. Rider is portrayed as a highly capable and almost unstoppable character, but what makes him engaging is his straightforward honesty and the respect he earns from those around him. The writing balances the adrenaline rush of undercover missions and pirate rescues with moments of humor that kept me smiling. I thought the Somali waters scene was especially vivid, giving me a sense of urgency as Rider and his team faced impossible odds. I also liked the romance it wasn’t forced, and it felt like a natural development between two strong-willed people caught in extreme circumstances. The dog, Chance, gave the book an additional touch of heart that softened Rider’s edges and made him more relatable. By the time I finished, I felt like I’d experienced an action movie, but with more heart than I expected. If you’re looking for a book that mixes thrills, laughter, and just a touch of love, this is a solid pick.
