Two Kaelin Bennett—CTO of Phox, a military tech company, and Graham Wolfe—a semi-retired veteran working on and off for private military companies, just crash landed in the deep wild. He’s in handcuffs and she just saved his life so it looks like they’re in it together much to both of their dismay.
Kaelin and Graham’s battle out of the wild starts with just trying to survive each other but when one of Graham’s old military buddies shows up out of nowhere, it’s not to save them—and they both quickly discover something sinister is going on. The forest holds some terrifying secrets that just may break them and Graham suddenly finds himself fighting to rescue Kaelin from the darkest depths of human depravity—all while he battles his own demons hiding in the shadows.
There are no heroes here—and the villains take what they want.
Are people not traumatized enough by the real world? When did torture and rape become mainstream entertainment?
I picked this up because the airplane crash setting, and the reviews were stellar. I mistakenly thought this would be in the same venue as the Twist Me series or even the Willing Victim duo. It’s not.
The story begins with an airplane crash, and two survivors. Kaelin and Graham are surviving the wilderness and learning to trust each other, when Kaelin is kidnapped at gunpoint.
The majority of this story is Kaelin being repeatedly raped by multiple men. The first man who buys her, gets off on her tears, her vomiting, her fighting, and her strong survival instincts. In fact, he enjoys making her body come while raping her. He loves the psychological aspect of his power over her. This is not the first time he has purchased a woman.
“That’s why I come here,” he said. “No other kind of interaction will give me the thrill of forcing someone to fight within themselves.”
Turning the perpetrator into a love interest?
The last quarter of the story somewhat worked. Kaelin is free physically, and working to heal herself mentally. Then it turns into some kind of bizarre poly relationship.
This story would have worked better with less on-page abuse, more recovery, much more revenge, and then a love story.

Bad book, bad story, bad FMC, bad one of the MMC. Cringe, r🍆ed filled, bad healing representation, weird ending. Not enough depth into the characters, not enough feelings to make you emotional besides anger and disgust. I hated everything about it. And don’t tell me because this is a dark romance because all I read is dark romances and I am used to this type of content, but it needs to be good and this one isn’t. Graham is the only one I liked but then I got so disappointed with his acceptance in the end. Like WHAT? The FMC too, what the hell girl? One of them is clearly a good one who does everything to save you and the other is the rap🍆st, the one that hit you, shared you, left you there and did NOT come back to save you ! HE HIT YOU! HE LEFT YOU THERE TO BE CONTINUALLY ABUSED! HE SHARED YOU WITH THE OTHER RAP🍆ST! IT WASNT THE FIRST TIME HE BOUGHT WOMEN TO ABUSE THEM ! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? And you want to have a relationship with him? NO NO NO NOPE ! I refuse to read Kraven’s book, fuck him, fuck this book, fuck Kaelin and fuck Graham too for allowing! And don’t you come at me with the Zade Meadows argument, because Zade worshipped Adeline, he was obsessed with her from first glance and he would NEVER leave her behind to be rap🍆d and abused, as a matter of fact he was tirelessly looking for her and destroying every disgusting men in his path of destruction, when he got her back he took the most amazing care of her with such love that it still engraved in my soul. So NO this is not the same. 😡
WOW JUST WOW. You know a book is fucking good when someone with ADHD reads it in one sitting. I literally could not put this thing down.
I went in blind, knowing absolutely nothing, and it completely took me by surprise. What starts as a plane crash spirals into something so dark and fucked up I wasn’t sure I was going to survive it.
This book will test you. There were moments I had to put it down just to disassociate for a second. And honestly? I was questioning my taste in men more than once like… am I okay? 😂 should I like this man?? WHY DO I LIKE THIS MAN?? I shouldn’t like this man, he’s a bad man.
I also wasn’t expecting the action, but the plot was so exciting. Even in the quieter moments, it kept me hooked. It’s one of those stories that sinks its fangs into you and doesn’t let go.
It’s packed with trauma and broken people, but the payoff is worth it. I wasn’t expecting the relationship to turn out the way it did, but you’ll get zero complaints from me I loved it. She deserved it 🙂↕️😮💨
This is a must-fucking-read. But do yourself a favor and scan those trigger warnings first… because this book will break you 😭 and I can tell you right now people are not exaggerating when they said this was dark as hell.
HOW IS THIS A DEBUT?! Just finished this in a day and I have no words besides HOLY.FUCKIN.SHIT 😵🥴🫣 the writing, the plot, the spiiiiice 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 if I could give this book more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat! Also, the fact that there are only 35 reviews/ratings so far 😳 HOW?! I never review books but this one was just *chef's kiss* 🖤🖤 this one's for my dark girlies
I promise no actual rabbits were harmed here but this book was more dark and depraved than what happened in Hunting Adeline (using this as an example as some aspect reminded me of it). I’m pretty desensitized to triggers but this just wasn’t personally for me.
i only finished it because sadly i have a curious mind and thought I would be met with something else. I think this had the potential to be one of those revenge-esq type of stories ex: Lana meyers but there was a shit ton of emphasis on the fmcs trauma (rape) it was NON STOP with the explicit scenes that felt brutal at some points. There was practically zero focus on the fmcs healing and retribution from it. somehow I expected that and instead it was just under 5% of the book which you could imagine left me feeling underwhelmed. If we had gotten more maybe I would’ve felt a bit differently. Just know the Stockholm syndrome was strong here and the author wasn’t lying in saying there's no heroes in this story 😅 graham was nice I guess but just no. I ultimately just believe I wasn't the target audience for this book and thats ok
please do not go into this if you’re curious like me without reading the trigger warnings first
I love a good rh, poly, or mfm book, but this one should have been an mf only!! I was immediately drawn into the story of Kaelin and Graham and their struggle to survive after their plane crashes in the middle of nowhere. The growing affection between the two characters was perfect. It wasn't instant love. It built over the time they spent together. Where the story begins to decline for me is when Kaelin gets abducted while still out looking for civilization with Graham. Somehow, Grahams old army buddy, along with his team, stumble across them during the night and take Kaelin to the Warren, where they keep hundreds of women and auction them off. As ludicrous as that sounds, it was an intriguing premis. What bothers me is that we meet Kraven, who buys her and then proceeds to assault her repeatedly for 5 days. Ok, so he doesn't cut her and hurt her as much as the other men at the auction, but what he does is still wrong on so many levels!! He obviously has little to no morals as he is at the action and bought her. It was obvious that with his relationship with Cooper (the head honcho) that he had been to the facility many times before. So he has forced many many women in his day! Also, he just leaves her there!! So now Kaelin is back in her normal life, and he just shows up and basically says I want you whether u want me or not and once again forces her!! I'm so confused as to how she could possibly want him, when she has Graham!! Also, we see Graham and Kaelins point of view, but we never get inside Kraven's head. Could it be because he is pure evil??? Would have liked this way more if she had finally gotten some balls and told Kraven to take a hike!! Oh, and one last complaint. Kraven is like 50, and he has the stamina of a 16 year old. I mean, what's the likeliness of someone that old being able to get it up 5-10 times a day without the support of a pill!! This story would have made more sense if they were all 15 to 20 years younger! Even Kaelin is 38! Apparently, she is absolutely stunning, but it is a bit old to be targeted as a traffic victim

That is what I am talking about. Pitch black romance that makes me vomit and happy at the same time
I love this book.I love the ending. The part where she was brutally assaulted was hard to read, yet the author wrote so well compared to other authors that wrote pitch black black romance. This was great.
The book would not have been great if it wasn't for the Fmc. She is one of the reasons I managed these horrific things that happened to her. Her mindset was strong even as she broke. She was still a fighter, and her monologues were still encouraging.
Even the human traffic storyline actually made sense. It pushed the plot but never annoyed me, and it never detailed every little thing that happened. It focused on her story.
I am still on defense with one of the m m c. There is book two, so I might probably read it to understand his point of view.
Okay so… I put this book off for so long but I’m not sure why🤣 I really enjoyed it! It was FAST paced & WILD.
Kaelin & Graham - I was hooked 👏🏻 but then I was disappointed when he wasn’t mentioned for quite a while HAHA but then had me tearing up at some parts 🤣 🥹
But then Kaelin & Kraven - GIRL I would’ve got Stockholm syndrome too LOOOL🤭 it started out ROUGH with Kraven & her whole story is heartbreaking, I felt so defeated for her😭 but it did turn around for her 🥹👏🏻
The smut is 🌶️🌶️ 🌶️ but the tension had me kicking me feet 🤪 and the MEETING OF KRAVEN & GRAHAM loved every page 👏🏻👏🏻 I also loved how it my first RH that I’ve read where the men aren’t “brothers” of a gang etc so a star just for that🤣 Now the epilogue itself deserves an award🥵 Jesus CHRIST😮💨😮💨
I rarely ever write reviews, but damn does this book need a good review! If you are a dark contemporary romance reader this is for you!
There truly is no comparison to her book. The plot is so different than any book I have ever read. But… if you liked Haunting and Hunting Adeline, you will love this! This is on par if not better.
The ending is OMFG chefs kiss good! I love me a good darkness combined with a HEA!!
This is exactly what I needed to soothe my fucked up soul. Seriously, though, I was feeling so slumpy after reading a long fantasy series and really wanted to get lost in a book. THIS BOOK WAS IT! I love dark books that have me questioning my morals. Plus, that ending 🥵
I don’t think there was one thing that I liked. Maybe the survival stuff in the beginning of the book?
From the beginning I didn’t like the FMC. The author says she’s a strong h but I never say it. Arguing and bickering with the Hs doesn’t make someone strong. She starts off the book with a fiancé who went to a strip club after he proposed and stays engaged to him! I guess she was strong in her job but we don’t get to those skills used hardly ever in the book. I was expecting her to fight her captures more and try to get away to a computer and hack her way out of shit. She’s a military tech creator! You can’t use your skills to try to save yourself at all?? It’s possible that because I read so much pnr and fantasy I’m just used to a strong h being more of a go getter action oriented h.
This is a MFM book but I’m assuming the why choose trope was listed as a red herring to throw us off on how many people she would have since there is a massive amount of male characters and a massive amount of people who r*pe the h. Either way it’s misleading and a pet peeve of mine when authors try to piggy back on the popularity of tropes and genres. I didn’t know that who the Hs were going to be was actually a spoiler, had I not known who the Hs are then maybe it would have worked better for me.
The biggest issue is that everything is surface level. There is no depth to the writing. All of the pain and angst that she goes through it’s all just telling verses showing and then her healing process is completely skipped over with a 6 month time jump and then again telling verses showing. The tone of every thing is way off. In order to pull of a dark romance you need to know how to really capture that morose dark tone otherwise it’s just shock value. I was really disappointed to have the hs whole healing process just flash forwarded with a six month time jump.
MFM books that aren’t just smut are hard to find nowadays so I was excited for that there just wasn’t enough relationship development. There is so much happening in this story that all the relationships suffer and are very insta. We really don’t get a lot of time between them and what we do get is either sex or just so plot oriented. It’s a whole lot of “I’ve never met someone like you” and that’s basically the extent of the relationship development.
The mfm scene was one of the cringiest sex scenes I have ever read.
I guess the author is writing a companion book from the guys POV but I won’t read it. It probably would help this feel like a more complete story but I didn’t like the way this was executed so I won’t read more.
Just a FYI to people that sex trafficking and r*pe are listed as triggers, along with others, but given the very tame almost romcomy beginning of the book I honestly wasn’t expecting as much on page rape and violence as their was. I honestly lost count of how many men raped her, 5-6? It’s not just one time and one man and one scene. I get what she was trying to accomplish here with the richy richy pleasure anything goes auction house and then chasing and the primal stuff with the one H but it just didn’t work. There was too much going on. It would have worked had that H tried to take her with him. It’s not fun when the biggest baddest alpha is the bad guy and no one does anything or even attempts to do anything! These characters were so passive.
The hype def got me with this one. I pushed through because people made it seem like there was some great mystery here 🤣🤷🏻♀️. It’s just a whole lot of bad erotica due to the instaness of the attraction and lack of chemistry between the MCs.
Overall: 1.5 and I’m rounding up to two because she is a debut author and maybe my experience would have been different had I not known who the Hs were.

Can I have “series of unfortunate events” for 500 please. What is - Red Rabbit: You shatter so beautifully?
Welcome to the shit show ladies and gentlemen, for the first act Devyn Rivers is serving you trauma on top of trauma with a sprinkle of Stockholm Syndrome, so much so that I think I’ve also developed Stockholm Syndrome while reading this book, because the way Kravens character had me in a fucking chokehold was no joke.
Side note: I completely understand the slew of mixed reviews this story has garnered, Red Rabbit explored the darkest and most depraved acts one could possibly endure as a human being, and maybe that’s why I fell headfirst down the rabbit hole and never looked back… so if you glossed over the two warning pages before diving in, finished the book and thought "what the actual fuck did I just read?" before repeatedly slamming that 1 star button, well…that’s your own fault. 🤷🏻♀️
There are no heroes - but the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t, and like Kaelin, I’d rather put what little trust I have in the devils I do know: Kraven "the Hunter" & Graham "Wolfe" over Cooper "Joker"(and no, he’s not called that because of his award winning jokes and ability to charm the pants off of a woman), Roger the sadomasochistic nightmare and the rest of the guards at the Warren who wanted nothing more but to break our little rabbit and snuff out her fire.
In this story consent doesn’t having a meaning, and even if it did, it would probably just be the punchline to some fucking obscure joke between these fellas.
“The mind tries to protect the body but everyone has a breaking point, even if that breaking point is death. It is one of the biggest flaws in the human construct”
From tolerating a shitty fiancé, to a surviving a plane crash, to being stranded in the wilderness, to being kidnapped, to being sold into human trafficking, to barely escaping with her life, only to plan what I would describe as a coup d'état to take Cooper down and expose the Warren to the world… yeah, turns out rock bottom does in fact, have a basement. Honestly, I’d say a series of unfortunate events is probably the understatement of the century where Kaelin is concerned.
People are comparing this book to the likes of Hunting Adeline and personally I don’t see the correlation, yes both stories explored extremely explicit subjects in their own way, but I really enjoyed both stories individually, Red Rabbit didn’t promise us sunshine and HEA’s, it did however give us powerful MC who despite the fucking odds being repeatedly stacked against her time and time again, was able to reclaim her own power, and Graham said it best when he said: She was a wildfire someone tried to contain in a fireplace—it just didn’t work.
Oh yeah, I think I might be a fan of the antihero archetype now. 🙂↕️
This book actually felt like it was speaking to my heart 🤣 it quite literally had all of my favorite things, first it gave the tv show lost, then throw in a bit of captivity/human trafficking and a whole lot of action giving me of all the greatest action movies vibes, I quite literally felt like I was reading about young Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger (the characters were not visually described this way). I CANNOT WAIT to start the next book soon 😍 and thank you thank you thank you to the author for curing my slump!
I fell for the hype and wanted to DNF 20% in but since I’m no quitter I kept going, hoping it would get better, but it just kept getting worse. I was not a fan of the writing style. The plot had potential, but as much as I love a dark, dangerous man, Kraven literally bought her and raped her and I just couldn’t look past that. I was honestly shocked at the ending, but so happy it was finally over 😂
Genre: Dark Erotic Romance Type: Standalone book 1 of Red Rabbit Series POV: First Person - Dual Rating: 4.25 stars
A plane crash in a remote, unforgiving wilderness forces military tech expert Kaelin Bennet and convict Graham Wolfe into an uneasy alliance. But surviving each other turns out to be the least of their concerns.
This book delivers an engaging, high-stakes story that is more than just a disaster tale. It's graphic, with scenes that evoke a range of emotions. However, I felt dropping some frivolous aspects of the story would have made the book stronger.
“I don’t want someone weak—I want to know when I break you, you’re worthy of it.”
I loved how Kaelin's life was fully established, giving her character depth. Graham was an enigma, and his background added intrigue to the story.
Red Rabbit is a story of ambition and self-reliance. It would appeal to readers who enjoy visceral, dark survival romance.

I do not know why it took me 23 days to get around to reading this book. It grabbed me and did not let go once I picked it up. NSFW and not for everyone. If you are not a fan of explicit sex or sex scenes this is not the book for you. DO NOT PASS GO!!
"Red Rabbit: You Shatter So Beautifully" by Devyn Rivers is a gripping dark romance that delves into the themes of human trauma and resilience. This powerful story addresses the harsh realities of survival and trafficking, making it unsuitable for the faint of heart.
Amidst the darkness, the author skillfully blends moments of humanity, love, and fierce devotion. The complex characters and Kaelin's journey showcase the incredible strength of the human spirit, leaving readers emotionally invested.
With remarkable prose and an intense, immersive experience, this book is a compelling read for those ready to confront its dark themes. It beautifully captures the resilience of humanity, offering layered storytelling that continuously surprises and captivates.
If you love the Cat and Mouse duet like I do then you’ll love this story! It wasn’t easy to read at times, as expected, but the ending more than made it worth it!
I was amazed to find out this was the authors debut novel and I’ll definitely be reading any new releases.
The only thing I want is more of this story so I was pleasantly surprised to find out there will be another book with the same characters. With that being said, this does not end on a cliffhanger.
That was disgusting. I would give 0 stars if I could. Making the fm suffer so much the entire damn book and we all expecting revenge at the end, and you make her end up with her abuser? And not in the cute way type of bully ..nooo, the evil kinda one who r*pe her and so many other girls without a remorse, leaving her there so others can do the same. Wtf is wrong with u?? NO !!!
Overall, this book wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but it's not without its merits. Understanding the author's intentions from the author's note sheds some light on the plot construction and preference for the female POV central to the story. Given that it's the author's debut, I can overlook some of the severe plot, writing, and grammar issues that popped up. However, I found it to be a challenging read, particularly the rape scenes, even for someone who enjoys dark romance. While I appreciate the story for what it is and the primary purpose (talking about Hidden Crimes), it somehow lacked the context and emotional depth of the healing and redemption process beyond the obvious actions because whenever the story or characters were about to dive deeper into the emotional aspects and inner turmoil, the author switched the writing from showing to telling‼️
It's a bummer because this book had the potential to be a solid five-star read!
The beginning of the book grabbed my attention right away. Still, I felt like the relationship between Kaelin and Graham could have been developed more before diving into the heavier themes. I wanted more tension and a stronger emotional connection between them. Despite liking Graham, the relationship was too superficial to convince me of their bond.
This being said, I still enjoyed this book for the reading experience, but feel like there's much more potential left untapped, especially when it comes to the character development. Considering the rating, right now, I feel like three stars are not enough, but it did not quite hit the four-star mark for me. 3.5 stars, but I see a lot of potential and look forward to seeing Rivers develop as a writer.

Whew, this was a tough read! Even for a dark romance girlie, the explicit non con scenes were pretty rough. It reminded me of Hunting Adeline, but lacking the first book that gave it context. I almost wish there was more to the story in the beginning before it went straight into a sex trafficking ring.
Reading the acknowledgments, I know this is the author’s first book. It’s a decent story, not super realistic, but it does read like a fan fiction of someone who reads a lot of dark romance. does that make sense? the writing isn’t bad, but it’s not anything revolutionary.
Kraven - god. something about him wrecked me. I was looking inward while reading his scenes and extremely concerned for my psyche. he was absolutely my favorite character in this story. yummy. I liked Graham, too, and that EPILOGUE!?? HELLO???????????? Had me barking like a damn dog.
Overall, I enjoyed it. A little outlandish at times, but I don’t read dark romance for the realism 🤣 It had its moments of making me giggle and kick my feet in the air. read those triggers, because it’s real dark, yall! just the way I like it 👹
How in the world does this have 4.2 stars and over 2k ratings on Goodreads and 4.5 stars on Amazon at the time of writing this review?
So, let's start from the very beginning. Where is the background information? We start right away into the chaos of a mess and are missing a lot of information, which has you asking why, like Olaf from Frozen. It's vague. It reads as if it was going to be a Novella, but sadly, it made it over 40k words.
Now, don't get me wrong, the plotline has great potential! It's just you're missing a lot to make it a good story where a developmental editor will help you find those loopholes for you to fill in.
Lastly, and this part is brutal... Red Rabbit is dark and describes an extreme detail of rape. I knew this ahead of time and am okay with reading scenes like this. Yet there is a MAJOR problem that's starting to arise with detailed rape scenes within romance novels now. When you, as an author, are going to depict such a heavy topic and extremely detailed scene, you need to tread lightly and handle it with care in picking up the pieces at the end of the novel...correctly.
Printing a "If you have been a victim of these atrocities, please seek professional help" at the beginning of the book, does not cut it.
Scenes like these are gaining popularity because, in today’s society, many individuals have experienced such traumas and have often remained silent. For many readers, seeing a character escape the pain they endured can be a powerful form of validation and even offer hope. However, this novel significantly missed the mark in addressing the emotional depth and complexity of healing and redemption. Rather than providing a meaningful recovery, the narrative felt exploitative, reducing the character’s trauma to a mere plot device. And this is where the problem is in glorifying rape scenes. Rape scenes can not be a main plot point if it's going to get a proper resolution. For real survivors of rape, this approach is not only insensitive but can feel like a dismissive, trivializing slap in the face. Unfortunately, the novel instead veers into a portrayal of rape kink.
The idea I got from the blurb was very different to what was actually the plot? I don’t know if I interpreted the blurb in a strange way but it was not what I expected and not in a good way. Firstly The plot felt disjointed and seemed unrealistic - there was a plane crash the FMC and MMC1 survived with basically no injuries when every other person in the plane died horrifically. She then gets abducted by a sex slave/trafficking ring in based in the middle of the woods the plane crashed in, and not only does the MMC intimately know the ring leader, but he also survives a bullet wound with no medical aid or help aside from basic equipment (not that this is not possible but it felt lazy from the author to just brush something so severe off). Secondly Using rape as a plot point (if done tactfully) is not something thing I am strongly apposed to, but in this book it just felt like too much. People have different thresholds for reading this kind of thing but the repetition and depth it went into felt tedious which was hard to read when it added NOTHING to the plot! There were cases of both dubious consent and no consent given and both were executed poorly. The dubious consent was only as a result of her becoming resigned to the fact she was going to be and had been raped multiple times anyway. I did not like that the FMC ended up with Kraven (MMC2). The is morally grey and then there is just unredeemable in ANY capacity. I also find it difficult that MMC1 would be okay with all the stuff MMC2 did to her during their stay at the warren, when he clearly had major issues when other people did the same! Lastly The whole plot based around the sex trafficking facility which was just an income source for some science bullshit (a bio tech chip, like from some shit Sifi movie, meant to stop soldiers from breaking under interrogation) which was just so unrealistic it was laughable. It wasn’t even that the ring leader was deluded in thinking it could be made- the FMC said it was something she could do (and only her coz she is big brains). Anyways Would probs not recommend as I didn’t like the writing style :)

Fantastic debut novel. Dark! Twisted! Not for everyone - lots of trigger warnings. But for me…fuck ya! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Well written. I seriously can’t believe this is a debut! Great plot. Super spicey. Villains definitely worth hating…that get what they deserve (is it a spoiler if the author says it’s a happy ending on the trigger warnings page?). And, I’m sorry, but reverse harem…yum.
Just because I enjoyed this book, it does not mean I condone this content in real life. Neither does the author. It’s a book…fiction. And there’s a happy ending so at least there’s that!!!
Rare to find such a well-written book in the genre
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was such a fun adventure, with action and spice, and everything naughty and nice. The plot and characters are vivid, and at no point did the story lag. Am shocked to learn this is a first book by the author; please, keep writing! In fact, my only complaint is that it had enough story to be stretched into two books. It left me wanting more.
This was a really hot read! 🥵 I was sucked in from the first chapter. The ending lives rent free in my head. If you’re into super dark romance with great characters and an excellent plot definitely read this!
