My pastor gave me this book for Hanukkah after I tragically lost my husband to the San Bernardino terrorist attacks on 12/2/16. There are Psalms and a Proverb for each day of the month. It's a great little book!
I just received this book yesterday and haven't started reading it yet. I should start today or tomorrow tho because Feb doesn't have 31 days. I am kinda excited to read this and help get some Focus and Direction in my Life which I truly Lack. I also want to work on being more obedient to God in 2020 #2020Vision4God The only thing is I don't know how the NLT Translation will be to read as I've Mostly read the NKJV/ESV But I'm Sure if its the Word Of God, It Won't Return To Void!
PROS: Proverbs and Psalms in a format of 31 daily readings. Does not hamper the reader with extra fluff. New Living Translation (NLT) wording sometimes adds clarity. CONS: NLT version is often very different from traditional King James Version (KJV) texts, which is confusing when trying to memorize scripture verses. Many of the daily readings seemed too long. Overall a very handy way to devour Psalms and Proverbs as a part of a daily reading exercise.
This book and Words of Wisdom published by Billy Graham ministries do the same thing. After two months of going through the book I decided to mark it up a little by underlying verses in Psalms that were easy to pray back to God. I have enjoyed this process and will continue to make notes as I continue to read. The Word of God is powerful and even this translation is giving me insights into His Word.
I received this little gem for my birthday and loved it so much that I bought a five-pack to share with others. It is simply a daily portion of Psalms and Proverbs in a handy little package - pleasing in the hands and wonderful in the heart.
