I love the fact that ‘in Eskimo the word to make poetry is the word to breathe ... the breath of life’. These poems are in many ways very simple, but I found them to be powerful and haunting. They often reflect the connection the Eskimo people have to, and their respect for, nature. The background stories and brief explanations throughout the book complement the poems perfectly and together provide an insight into the lives of these people. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection of poems - I just wish that it had been longer!
