Alex expects to wither drown in water beneath him or be incarcerated in a German prisoner of war camp. Instead, he becomes an evader, dodging the enemy as he tries to get back home to Blighty.
If his luck holds, Alex will soon be reunited with his beloved wife Barbara, but it’s a long way from Dieppe to Gibraltar and his journey is fraught with danger, disaster and difficulty.

Great Book
I read all books in your Barbara’s War series
As quickly as I could get thru them. Only one more to read. A really good storyline, I love what I call historical WW I and WW II stories I’ll be waiting for more. Thanks from a new reader. Fay

Review of ALong Way Back
I was disappointed in the series ending the way it did, so was thrilled to see the fourth book in the series with the story of Alex incarceration in the POW camps! The book told the story well! Thank you !

Brilliant book.
Another Fenella J Miller story of life and loves of the RAF personnel and their families . From Blighty to Europe and back home again. As a former Miltary Wife it is believable . Can't wait for the next book .

Story lost like Alex
Not anywhere near the story of the other books.
It seemed forced and unconnected in parts. Almost like a different author.

Great story
Enjoyed knowing what happened to Alex. The story of his capture and the capture of his fellow men was heartbreaking.
