Lennox Hills #2

Yeah...Thanks

Rate this book

Every day I turned my camera on, sat in front of my tripod and recorded myself doing my makeup, hair or getting ready for an event. My supporters watched wishing they had the newest designer bag that I had just worn, or the mountains upon mountains of PR every brand sent to my front door. They wanted to be Harlym J., and I mean, I couldn’t blame them. I made this lifestyle look like a piece of cake with three cherries on top.
What they didn’t see was the breakdowns, tears, and weekly visits to shake my titties for a perverted correction officer just to see my man. They didn’t see the arguments, and moments of loneliness while all my other friends were moving on with their lives. They were getting married, getting pregnant, advancing in their careers and all I was getting was action from my rose.
I wanted to hate Ashton Willshire. I mean, he’s self-centered, rude, and cocky as ever. There was no way I was going to give up something familiar for uncharted territories. I don’t know if it was the gold teeth, the tattoos, or the way he tied his du-rag. All of it drove my senses haywire, and I hated it.
So, yeah… thanks.

This book made me choke up so many times 😭 I just… oh my. I love love. I love seeing people be loved. And even more, I love seeing people be healed and learn from their mistakes 🫶🏾

This was a beautiful book with realistic struggles.

Pre-read:

I am going to ENJOY this.

I was expecting Ashton to be the train wreck but boy was I wrong Harlym took me for a ride… a ride I wanted to get off of. It started to become repetitive and a bit exhausting but we somehow made it through the end.

Harlym x Ashton

My goodness, these two exhausted the FÜCƘ out of me...especially Harlym. So much so that I DNF’d at 90%. At that point, I didn’t even care about the HEA.

Harlym was broken, so I guess that justified some of her behavior, but damn. The way she kept running back to Cam was absolutely crazy. If he wasn’t calling her out of her name, he was calling her fat. If it wasn’t that, it was some other disrespectful shịṭ.

Ashton had more sense than Harlym, but he was immature af too, cause how do you explain Lyrica? He and Harlym loved each other, but they were toxic as hell. The story just kept dragging. I don’t know if they sought counseling or therapy in the last 10%, but my goodness, they both needed it.

Didn’t care for this one.

This book had a lot of repetition in it. It could’ve been reduced by 150 pages.

whew I’m glad that is over

This book was about 7 chapters too long. This was repetitive and exhausting. I’ll return later with the rest of my thoughts.

All In!

Jahquel J pulled me right in! It’s been a minute since a main female character pissed me off, but Harlym did that! How she played a fool for and with Cam should be studied. I’m just happy Ashton was that one in a million that saw pass the facade and pulled her out of a mentally sinking ship. The patience that man showed her made him an undeniable book bae! Recommended read. Now, I am ready for Ember’s story.

HARLYM WAS A PIECE OF WORKKKK

Omg never hated a character more! She made the book undesirable! Then she KEPT being in Cam face!!! Like 95% of the book make it make sense! On top of that refused to give that man a divorce! Nope they finally got together at 96% y’all! I can’t……HARLYM was not it! He could’ve done better! Astoria and Bray were right in my opinion.

Yeah… Thanks had me feeling like I was in the group chat giving my homegirl advice I knew she wasn’t gonna take 😭. Jahquel J. delivered a story about wanting more, holding it together in public while falling apart in private, and trying not to let the wrong man ruin your life again. It’s soft. It’s spicy. It’s so Harlym.

Harlym J. is a baddie with a brand, a tripod, and a secret life that would eat social media alive. On camera she’s that girl but off camera? She’s fighting loneliness, loving a man behind bars, and trying not to lose herself in the process.

And Ashton Willshire, Whew 😮‍💨 He’s toxic with just enough charm to make you ignore the red flags and start picking baby names. The gold teeth, tattoos, and durag tied just right. A problem, But underneath all that. He was scared of commitment but soft for her. He was an asshole to the world, but a whole teddy bear in her hands.

The tension? DELICIOUS.
The drama? CHEF’S KISS.
The emotional mess? Real as hell.

If you’ve ever loved a man who felt like chaos wrapped in comfort? This one’s for you.

On top of the repetition, Harlym took this from a 4 to a 1 REAL QUICK. You are too old for the back and forth ESPECIALLY when the “back” was someone as degrading as her ex Cam!! GIRL GET UP! She took us on a stressful roller coaster! Like girl make up your mind, please!!! Harlym stressed me so much that I felt for Ashton, although he wasn’t at all innocent bc he definitely ticked me off fooling with Lyrica knowing she was plotting! Granted I’m sure it hurts to be hurt by the one person you’ve fallen in love with since tragically losing your first love. But that doesn’t justify his actions and Harlym not knowing her worth and being insecure doesn’t justify hers. At some point you have to recognize disrespect and want better for yourself regardless if you’re scared of what that brings. Ashton was funny though so that made the book pleasant and after peeling back the layers and getting to know him…he wasn’t so bad. Looking forward to Ember’s story being better bc Harlym’s was a let down to what Astoria built up for me…

Yep she made me crazy! The heroine was so broken, but riding out her becoming better was worth the read. I love the way that he loved her. It was special and real deep.

Har and Ashton’s story was a roller coaster from start to finish. Har’s constant back and forth due to her insecurities had me frustrated and every time she pulled away, Ashton seemed determined to match her energy with his own antics.
Har deserved love but it’s hard to fully love someone who hasn’t learned to love themselves. She really needed therapy and because of that her character was insufferable at times. Overall this is a good read.

Trigger warning…eating disorder

Almost DNF @34% because I know for damn sure Har couldn’t be that damn stupid! She was getting on my last nerve at every turn; her self esteem was trash trash, I couldn’t believe it 🤦🏽‍♀️ but then again… from observation: the prettiest, boss chicks be having more love for a man than themselves 🤦🏽‍♀️ This book was 95% depressing back and forth when it didn’t need to be!

Finding Love

Harlym is one of the top influencers in the game right now, she is standing on business and getting her coins. Ashton has had a crush on Harlym since the Miami Trip who knew the one night in Paris could lead to something that they both couldn’t fight.

Great story Jahquel J

This was a hard read. The trauma from both Har’s and Ashton’s life was sooooooo deeply entrenched in their relationship to the point that at times it felt toxic. I loved that Ash was willing to be that rock and protector for Harlym, but there were so many times when I wanted him to choose himself because of the way she continued to hurt and push him away. On top of all of that it kinda hurt to see Stori and Bray in this book with some of their negative commentary and seeing the actual effects on Harlym and Ashton from their perspective. In the end I love how Har and Ash came together but it felt like I was fighting for my life every chapter. But special shoutout to June for always helping our girl see the light, and Quan for helping his best friend.

My heart!

First, let me just say it’s crazy, but this is how I want to get married. Lol I loved me some Ash. He knew what he wanted the whole time! Love was already so hard on him, but he didn’t care. I also loved his friendship with Quan. I was up at 2 in the morning shedding real tears. I felt Harlym not feeling deserving so much. Whew the tears wouldn’t stop flowing. I’m so glad she got it together for herself and Ash. Such a beautiful ending… on to book 3!

Whew! Wow. This one was a tough read for me. I almost felt traumatized with the back and forth of these characters although I was rooting for them real bad. We needed Harlym and Ash’s story, especially in the age of the influencer, social media, and the obsession with perfecting bodies and appearances. Love me some Ash. He’s definitely top tier book bae material. His love was evident. I was proud of Har after it was all said and done.🖤

This couple was not together until 88 percent in the book. They had about 20 percent interaction the entire book. The heroine was abusive and toxic. It is not Kay to emotionally abuse men.

WHEW CHIL🤦🏽‍♀️

BAY-BE I CAN’T REMEMBER EVER DISLIKING A MFC THE WAY I DISLIKED HARLYM😔. THAT DANG GIRL STRESSED ME TF OUT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BOOK. LIKE I CURSED HER TOXIC AZZ OUT SO MANY MOTHERFUDGESICKLESTIX TIMES, WHEW CHIL🙄🤣. SHE HAS THE MOTHERFUDGESICKLESTIX AUDACITY TO PASS JUDGEMENT ON HER SISTER WHEN SHE GAVE THE SAYING "STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES” A WHILE NEW MOTHERFUDGESICKLESTIX MEANING. TALK ABOUT A GLUTTING FOR PUNISHMENT🙄. SHE HAS ME HOTTER THAN FISH GRADE THE WAY SHE KEPT PLAYING WITH ASHTON’S HEART AND FOR THAT BUM AZZ COMMUNITY🍆 HAVING AZZ PHUCK BOY 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. AFTER THAT ISH SHE PULLED IN MIAMI I WANTED HIM TO DROP HER AND NEVER LOOK BACK🤷🏽‍♀️. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THERE ARE PARTS OF HER STORY THAT WAS SO RELATABLE BUT SIS HAD ME WANTING TO CHOKE THE STUPID OUT OF HER AND I DON’T EVEN LIKE REFERRING TO WOMEN THAT WAY, BUT 🤷🏽‍♀️

THAT BIH 🥷 CAM NEEDED TO SUFFER FRFR, LIKE I WANTED HIM TO GET HIS AZZ BEAT ONE GOOD TIME. LIKE FACE STOMPED IN SO BAD HE HAD TO GET HIS JAW WIRED SHUT🤷🏽‍♀️🤣🤣🤣. I JUST WANTED HIM GONE GONE

ASHTON WAS SOMETHING ELSE. HE WAS A SUPER HEAUX. AFTER HEARING HIS STORY WHICH I RELATED TO AS WELL, MY HEART WENT OUT TO HIM. THAT MAN FIGHT HARD FOR HIS WIFE, LOVED HER EVEN WHEN SHE DIDN’T RECIPROCATE THE LOVE, LOYALTY, ETC. THAT MAN ALLAT HAD A HARD TIME OPENING UP AND WHEN HE FINALLY DID HE GOT HIS HEART STOMPED ON TOO MANY TIMES. HIS LOVE FOR HARLYM NEVER WAVERED, AND EVEN THOUGH SHE GAVE UP HE REFUSED. I LOVE HIS CRAZY AZZ AND HE KEPT ME IN AH AND LAUGHING THE WHOLE BOOK.

IT WAS NICE CATCHING UP WITH THE REST OF THE CHARACTERS, ESPECIALLY DEMI & ENZO🫶🏽

I WOULD LOVE TO READ QUAN AND JUNES STORY IN THE FUTURE. UNTIL THEN LET’S GO BOOK 3

I felt like I highlighted the entire book! I enjoyed this book so much that I found myself yelling & shaking my head at the characters often. Ashton was that guy & Harlym was that girl. I didn’t want to put this book down at all. I needed to know what was June & Quan really doing & if Cam was still a lying, can’t rap, broke, no good for nothing little boy. This book gave me everything I needed! It brought my thoughts & emotions out quick, fast, & in a hurry. Reading the words & listening to this audiobook put me in the book.

Jahquel is an amazing story teller l. I mean the way she keeps you invested in this story is crazy. Ashton and Harlem have a love story that is not meant to be understood but just heard because baby what these two went through and how they came out make you want to fall in love all over again.

Read this book…I love the highs and the lows and I most definitely love how Jahquel shows how you stay strong and fight for what you truly want especially for “LOVE”

2.5 ⭐️ This sequel fell short compared to the first book. Harlym's character felt chaotic, with repetitive decisions that made the story feel like a never-ending loop. On the other hand, Ashton was an absolute standout. It was heartwarming to see him support Harlym through her eating disorder, but it's clear she has other unresolved traumas that could benefit from therapy.

I understand what people mean by a book being repetitive. Harlym J. & Ashton had my eyes crossing. This wasn't my favorite book by Jah but I am not sure if it's because I didn't like the characters or the book in general.

Girl

I read the disclaimer and still was astounded at how weak Harlym was for Cam. It was true to life though considering her issues. Ash was a major flex and boss up and she still let Cam muddy it up. That drove me nuts but I’m glad she eventually got it together and or importantly addressed all of her issues. I stayed glued to this book all day!

I am extremely disappointed. I’ve never been less enthusiastic about a happily ever after in a romance novel. This book just didn’t do it for me at all.

I didn’t like any of the characters. Not the main ones, not the side ones. Everybody was annoying. And if I could fight them? Every last one would’ve caught these hands. Everyone was just stupid. The female lead was dense and ditzy, and even after getting help, I still didn’t believe she had it in her to change. She hurt him. He hurt her. Nobody truly cared about the other one, in my honest opinion. They were toxic. Whitney and Bobby-level toxic. Just petty and dumb. It was a train wreck.

Now, I love Jahquel. I love her writing. When her books hit, they hit. But when they flop? They flop bad and this one flopped. This drained me. He drained me. She drained me. I felt like I needed therapy when I was done. The both of them were extremely immature and exhausting.

I got all three books in the series. This was book two, and I’m probably not going to bother with the other two. If this is how book two went, I’m not putting myself through that again.

Let’s talk about this logic: you’re in a toxic relationship with a man who calls you fat, disrespects you, belittles you, and uses you….and you’re loyal to him? But then you cross paths with a man who accidentally marries you, buys you a multi-million dollar home, and is ready to give you everything you could ever want, and he’s the one you’re unsure about?

Make it make sense.
She was mad that he didn’t ask if she wanted a house. Girl. Be serious.

Meanwhile, she was still making room in her heart for a piss ass, bird chest ex jailbird who disrespected her daily. I’ve never been more disappointed in a character. And even when she started to get her life together, I had already mentally checked out. I didn’t care anymore.

And don’t get me started on Ashton. One argument, and he immediately goes and sleeps with someone else? Someone he didn’t even like? If you’re that obsessed with this woman, why are you folding so fast? Talking about “spreading his seed” so you en even wrapping up.

Every character in this book made me mad. I didn’t care about their happy ending. I guess it’s cute that they got one, but I don’t believe in it. I don’t see them making it forever.
