The brutal bushwhacking of a US army wagon train draws bounty hunter and frontier scout Garrison Rivers into a running battle of bloody fighting and death.
But what lies behind it all? Who would be crazy enough to murder US soldiers and steal wagons of Winchester repeating rifles and military supplies?
The prize… possession of the sacred Black Hills.
Power-hungry politicians want gold and to open the land up to settlers and will use US soldiers as pawns to solve the Native Indian question once and for all time.
That means war!
Rivers is not only the hunter but the hunted, deep in the thickly forested foothills of the Big Horn Mountains.
As he battles one outlaw gang led by a stone-cold killer, condemned to hang, Rivers is also forced into an unexpected fight against Mexican bandidos from the Rio Grande borderlands.
The Comancheros want the wagon train and its deadly cargo to sell in the Indian Territory.
They must be stopped, or hundreds of innocent folks will die if the renegades go on the rampage across the southern States.
As the bounty hunter fights for his very life to stop the evil, he must also deliver on a deadly promise to the Sioux leader, Chief Crazy Horse, who is already on the Warpath!
Warpath! is set against the backdrop of the wild and merciless frontier. This Western saga pulls you into a heart-racing adventure where the law of the gun prevails and honor is scarce.
This book certainly didn’t disappoint. It is full of action that is so intense and relentless the reader has little time to breathe in between pages. Once again the Bounty Hunter and his horse Tula are faced with insurmountable odds in his quest to fulfill his mission.
This book proves to be a great read but definitely not for the faint of heart!
Mr. McAllister did an outstanding job of putting, what I think, all the facts of frontiers men, Calvary, government and Indians in perspective as to what happened in that timeframe.
Book two was definitely as good as book one, maybe better. The storyline was even more interesting and the twists the story took just filled it with nonstop action. Well worth reading. Now I'm off to read book three.
