New Beginnings

Rate this book
Ella Martin, having overcome a devastating divorce, quickly found herself caught-up in a whirlwind romance with Xavier Hart, a charismatic and successful CEO of an investment firm.
As their romance quickly blossoms towards a more serious commitment, Ella tries to come to terms with her fear of getting hurt. While Ella struggles to realize if her love for Xavier is greater than her fear of another husband betraying her, her ex-husband, Stephen, is still deviously lurking in the background.
When Stephen gets involved with someone else, Xavier is not convinced that he no longer poses a danger to Ella. Xavier’s struggle with his need to keep Ella safe only intensifies.
When strange events surrounding Ella start to take place, Xavier believes his suspicions of Stephen are warranted, and he will do whatever it takes to keep Ella safe. But is Stephen really the one who is conspiring against them or is there another who is working maliciously to destroy them? The love story of Ella and Xavier that began in Starting Over concludes in New Beginnings.

3.5 out of 5 Hotness in a Suit, Heart Melting Stars!

Well this series was very appropriately titled. The first book, Starting Over was the journey that Ella went through after her horrible divorce with her husband Stephen. She was trying to get a fresh start and got way more than she bargained for. As fate would have it, she was seated next to a dashing, handsome, hunk of a man named Xavier Hart on her flight to Seattle where she was hoping to start over (pun intended). Ella was completely enthralled by this gorgeous stranger, but her self esteem was at an all time low so she thought it was surely one-sided. Boy was she wrong! This series had a sexy charm to it, and the mysterious dangerous undertones of the story kept you wanting more. Xavier is one fine ass male specimen...swoony mess over here! They both fell fast and hard, but didn't care to look back.

"Oh sweetness. I already know just how good it's going to be when we get together. I've already felt your passion, Ella, that night in the car when you climbed on my lap, in the elevator to your apartment, and yesterday in my office. My god," he paused, smiling at the memory. " I would've taken you right there on my desk if you hadn't stopped me." -Xavier

In the first book, Starting Over, you get a first class ticket to the whirlwind romance of Ella and Xavier. Their connection was instant and passionate. Ella is honest with Xavier about her insecurities and huge jealousy issues caused by her previous marriage. Xavier is more than ready to take on those challenges because he too is a very jealous man when it comes to Ella. While they deal with the crazy emotions of their blossoming relationship, people from both of their past step in to make it even harder for them. Ella's ex-husband is hell bent on being an ever present thorn in her side, when all she wanted was to move on. Xavier's past involvements with women, have clearly left some of them scorned. Is their connection strong enough to overcome all these challenges, especially since everything is brand new and moving a lighting speed? Or will they be forced to pump the brakes, before everything comes crashing down around them?

"I saw you on that plane and you made me feel things that I didn't even know was there. Suddenly, nothing else mattered but you. You turned my world upside down, but you make me whole. If you were to leave me, I wouldn't survive it. I wouldn't be strong enough to go on. I'd be weak and give in to the pain." -Xavier

Despite the safety and security that Ella feels from Xavier, things are still mounting to an ultimate downpour. Their love continues to get tested leading into the second book, New Beginnings. It seems there are so many people out there that want to put a wedge between the two of them. Stephen is still a threat in Xavier's eyes, but Ella begins to question who is behind all the malicious threats to the both of them. We continue on the up and down journey of Ella and Xavier's passionately addicting relationship. Meanwhile, Ella begins to feel the growing stress and pressure from thoughts of getting married again. Even though she knows Xavier is not Stephen, she can't help the doubts that creep in over getting hurt again. The struggle and frustration for the hunt to their happily ever after is definitely increasing to unbearable levels. Can they finally put an end to the mysterious threats, so they can truly relax and focus on their relationship? Can Ella overcome her fears and let go of all the past pain?

"He wanted me. He wanted to possess me in every way humanly possible-mind, body, and soul. I wanted to give that to him so much, too. I just needed to get past my fear of getting hurt." - Ella

This story was intriguing in many ways, but it also reminded me of a couple other books here and there. The unbreakable bound that Ella and Xavier shared was the shinning light for me in this book. I was torn when I was finished with both these books, because I enjoyed Xavier on many levels...both naughty and heart melting. The author build me up to the pinnacle point and then just left me hanging with their love scenes. Maybe my books have just turned me into a huge perv, but I was desperate for more juicy details during their sexy time. Overall, the storyline kept me wanting to find out what happened, and Xavier was my sexy-hot-as-sin-in-a-suit spotlight!

"Thank you, sweetness. For showing me all the wonderful new beginnings this beautiful life has to offer me so far. There isn't anybody else in this world that I would want to share this journey with." -Xavier

L.E. Maguire has told a AMAZING story of Love, loss, forgiveness, faith, and most importantly...new beginnings. This second installment of the Hart of Seattle series picks up where Starting Over leaves off.

We get to follow the story of Xavier and Ella as life throws them more curves and surprises :) I was expecting some of the events that took place in this book.

L.E. Maguire has given us a book filled with so much emotion and heart. You will definitely need a box of tissues handy with this one. Xavier and Ella's romance is one for the record books. It is filled with all the elements of a classic love story. You can't help but root for these two to make it.

I was always a fan of L.E., but this book just guarantees that I will read any and everything that she comes out with!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that their will be another Hart of Seattle Book in the future!!

Ella and Xavier have what can only be called a rollercoaster of a relationship as far as emotions go. Both with intense jealousy issues cause this whirlwind relationship to be a wild ride. With ex’s coming out of the wood work trying to destroy their happiness they encounter so many trials and tribulations it’s not even funny. After the loss of their first child at what both consider the hands of Ella’s ex Stephen Xavier goes into full on protector mode. The last thing Xavier wants is for a repeat of the past to happen. While Xavier is focused on trying to prove the it is Stephen who is after them they both fail to see who their true enemy is. Will they figure it out in time? Or will this unforeseen foe be the destruction of all the happiness they have achieved?

I received a copy of this book for a honest review.

2.5 stars

Now I absolutely love this couple, definitely a perfect fit. This book though, there really wasn't much story to it. It's filled with "foreplay" but you will be left with the girls version of blue balls. I suggest less getting it on and when they do connect, give us ALL the details.

Ella... this girl still doesn't think about how her actions effect Xavier. It made me like her less.

I wish more time would have been spent on who was behind the phone calls etc. That should have been built up more.

This is a great conclusion to the story! Ella becomes her own person, less reliable on others. She basically finds herself more in this one. Xavier and Ella are still dealing with people trying to break them up and Stephen of course is one of them. Among all of the twist and turns, can Ella and Xavier find their happiness? Lots of emotions in this one too and it will suck you into the story! A must read! ~Chell

I received this for an honest review. I thought this was a great conclusion to the first book where we met Xavier and Ella.
People are still trying to tear this couple apart. Stephen is still a threat.
I enjoyed this book a lot because I think Ella's character became more of herself. More feisty and not so needy. I just really thought this was a great conclusion to this series.

Great ending to Ella and Xavier's story. It's always nice to see a character come into their own as the story progresses. Ella and Xavier are trying to find their way but everyone, including Stephen, are determined their way is not together. Well written with lots of emotion!

What a great conclusion to Xavier and Ella's story, October 16, 2014

By BlueEyes

This review is from: New Beginnings (Hart of Seattle Book 2) (Kindle Edition)

What a great conclusion to Xavier and Ella's story. This novel seemed more polished and I devoured the story chapter by chapter. So happy for these two lovers; to find happiness and love and marriage with some scary bumps along the way. Ella's ex husband, Xavier's ex's and a busy city of Seattle as a rainy backdrop. Lori's writing was more relaxed, with great flow and more colourful words used to describe every moment these characters spent together.

I also would have liked more steamy love scenes, but the book was perfect for me and the conclusion was unexpected and very well done. I don't do spoilers so you will have to give New Beginnings a try and see for yourself what "Love at First Sight" is like for Xavier and Ella.

"Memories of how your body arches beneath my touch. The little sounds you make when you get really excited. Those wonderful moments spent with you will carry me through the next two days.."

"Before he could say anything I sealed my mouth over his and kissed him until we were both breathless. I rolled off him and lay next to him in the snow trying to catch my breath. Our quick, heated breaths were clearly visible in the cold, crisp air. Jesus, Ella. You're going to be the death of me, he mumbled"

Happily read and reviewed through a gift from this author.

This book was AMAZING!!!! I've truly never read an almost 400 page book in one day. I don't even have the words to say how much I've enjoyed BOTH of these books. I loved every minute if them. Truly amazing. I can honestly say that there was NOTHING that I didn't like in this conclusion to Xavier and Ella’s story. The story flowed from start to finish. And there were twists and turns that I didn't expect. Didn't expect…. And then…. (don’t want to give anything away here, hence the …). I thought one character was involved in the plot from the beginning. Wrong! Threw me right off. I knew on character was crazy but not THAT crazy. OMG I absolutely loved it. This one just flowed perfectly and I liked that you were a bit more explicit with the sex. But not overly. It fit just right with the flow of both books.
