Four Sisters Ranch
Book 1: A Cowgirl's Homecoming Book 2: The Cowboy's Inheritance
I read this one for curiosity of what this subgenre was like (Plus I kind of felt like I needed an emotional breather/antidote to Beauregard's Playground... oof... that's another story).
It was kind of like I expected. I'm assuming its tone and content is more or less consistent with other "Love Inspired" romances. I was like 90% sure it wasn't going to be my favorite, and it wasn't. Along with the lack of physical passion, I also believed that the emotional components felt muted.
I didn't care much for the book's plot. But let me be clear. I'm quite glad I read this book. It's good to read things every once in a while you wouldn't normally pick up, be it because it is out of your comfort zone or just something new. I won't gravitate towards Love Inspired books, but that's okay. I tried it. Kind of like those situations when your parents say "how do you know you won't like it if you don't try it" when as a child you were faced with a food you weren't crazy about being on your plate. I apply that sort of lesson to other aspects of my life. I never begrudge people who try things and then decide it's not to their taste.
But to me it is ALWAYS good to see some other way of life, another perspective, values and experiences. Let's us see other things outside our own world. And that a good thing.
I don't think it's fair to the book for me to rate it and I'm not sure it would be helpful at any rate. I will say I thought the writing was clean, clear and concise. I never struggled to know what was going on. The characters were distinct and I could see them in my brain. The farm and town where the book is set is richly created and I could see why people would love a ranch. (And I love horses, so maybe it was easy for me.)
This is me BEGGING the author to find a better editor. Maybe two editors. There are numerous grammar and syntax errors. The prose leaves so much to be desired. There is no distinction between character voices. They all sound the same, and it’s not even realistic dialogue at that.
Also, personally I hate miscommunication tropes so that part of it just irked me.
I appreciated that in this one the characters at least kissed before they got engaged.
What a great book to start reading from this author. I really liked our heroine, Rachel and Jack is definitely a great hero. Their first meeting was definitely open mouth, insert foot for Rachel but I think that was the way it was supposed to be. These two knew each other from when they were younger when Jack would come to his grandfather’s ranch and Rachel and her sisters live on the ranch next door. Rachel has been going through some things and really wants to purchase the ranch that his grandfather used to own but doesn’t have enough money to do that yet, but Jack is from the city now and is eager to sell the ranch for the highest dollar and possibly the feed store as well. I also felt for Jack because he is trying to do his job, under major pressure from his father and someone he works with trying to get the promotion Jack deserves and his father treats this other individual more like a son than he does Jack. I loved the time these two spent together and Jack remembering his time at the ranch with his grandfather and even finding letters from his grandfather. I also really loved that they both want a legacy. Unfortunately, things come to a head just when these two have a little something starting to grow between them and Jack leaves. I was so proud of Jack with his next steps and his conversation with his father, I was cheering for him and crying at the same time. He finally got what he always wanted from his father. The surprise he had for Rachel at the end was, so Jack and I really liked how whenever he mentioned something it was always about the two of them. What a wonderful, touching, and heartwarming story. I wonder which sister is next, I’d guess Violet and possibly the Sheriff. We’ll see.
Rachel Spencer of the Four Sisters Ranch would love to buy the ranch next door to her parents and she hopes the new owner will sell it to her. She never dreamed that her childhood crush, the grandson of the owner would show up. Jack Hart, big city real estate man wanted nothing more than to fix up and sell the property for top dollar and get back to his life in the city. Then maybe he would earn the approval of his Dad and get the promotion he so badly wanted. What he didn’t expect was Rachel Spencer showing up on his property and telling him she wanted the property for her own. With her big heart and giving nature Rachel teaches Jack that the country isn’t such a bad place and helps him remember the good times he had there with his grandfather. The two seem to have opposite goals but this story brings two lonely people together in the best way possible and makes us believe in love and God’s blessings. I really enjoyed this book, as well as the first in the series, A Cowgirl’s Homecoming and look forward to the remaining books in the series. I received an ARC in return for an honest review.
PS: This book is ideal for those people who like a quick one sitting read with simple plot and cute romance. Although I did like it I haven’t ever realized I prefer the lengthy full fleshed stories more then short stories.

A heartwarming story of looking within to figure I it where your happiness will come from. Jack has inherited his grandfather’s farm and store and he just wants to fix it up, sell, and get back to the city and his dad’s real estate practice where he is fighting for a promotion. Rachel wants to buy Jack’s farm, but can’t afford his price and Jack needs high dollar to compete in the real estate practice.
Jack finds the way of life in the small town refreshing and he has a growing attraction to Rachel who continues to help him as they also search for a thief at the feed store he also inherited.
Overall, a sweet story and a lot of grace and compassion come through these characters. I look forward to more in this series.
Thanks to the author for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Cowboy’s Inheritance is the second book in Julia Ruth’s Four Sisters Ranch series. Rachel Spencer seriously wants to purchase the ranch next door to her childhood home. Jack Hart, a real estate executive, wants to sell his grandfather’s ranch and hopefully gain respect and a promotion from his father. What happens when Rachel sees her childhood crush jack for the first time in years? After an awkward first meeting with Jack, Rachel helps him remember the good times.
The Cowboy’s Inheritance is a heartwarming sweet romance. I enjoyed watching the characters as they cherished the memories and moved towards a happily ever after. I highly recommend this and can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
This is such a great story with wonderful characters. I love Rachel with her caring spirit, her humor, her spunk, and, last but not least, how she speaks whatever is on her mind. As for Jack, he's carrying a great burden on his shoulders, driving him so that he can't even slow down to stop and smell the roses. However, the more time he spends on the farm and with Rachel, new feelings and old memories begin to impact his drive. This story of love, faith, and healing is absolutely beautiful and endearing and is well worth reading.
Book Quote: "You seem sure these blessings will happen." Her brows drew in. "why wouldn't I be? God has been so faithful to me through the years. Things might not happen in my time frame, but they happen in His, and I have to trust that won't change."
Jack came to the small town where his grandfather had lived. His grandfather left him his ranch and the feed store. Jack's father wanted him to sell it quickly for a lot of money and said there was a promotion if he did it quickly. His father was very money motivated, but the longer he was in Rosewood Valley, the more he relaxed. His neighbor, Rachel lived on the ranch next to his and really wanted to buy his ranch, but didn't have the funds. They started to spend time together and the more he was in her company, the more he was rethinking his life. Family was important in this town and the town rallied around those who needed help. The story was sweet and ended perfectly
I got this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
What an enjoyable “coming back home” read! The Cowboy’s Inheritance is another wonderful, quicker read by Author Julia Ruth, and the second in her Four Sisters Ranch series.
When Jack “returns home” to his Grandfather’s estate, he didn’t expect to run into Rachel, the neighbor girl, with the dream of someday owning that home. Jack’s intention is to fix it up to sell it so he can get back to his real estate life in the big city…but that thought is put to the test the longer he stays in the small town.
This is a “sweet” read, a romance filled with faith and belief. I would recommend this! Great characters, storyline, and memories!
Jack used to come visit his grandfather when he was younger but then he stopped visiting him as Jack got older. Rachel was the girl next door. She used to hang out with Jack. Now that his grandfather has passed away and he has come back to sell the house and the land and possibly the feed store.
Rachel has always dreamed that one day she would be able to buy the property that Jack now owns because if she could buy it her parents place and hers would be side by side.
This is a really good story that kept me wanting to sit and read straight through. I think you will enjoy it too.
Rachel had a crush on Jack when he use to visit his grandfather. Now he is back to take care of his inheritance and to get the respect of his only family left. Rachel would love to buy the property but has to figure out how to talk Jack into a different type of deal.
Seeing Jack remember the best times he had and Rachel remind him of the other good times, was great. I can't wait to see where the series goes next.
Quick and easy read about real estate mogul who inherits his grandfather's farm. Meets ranch girl whom he met as a young boy visiting his grandfather and she completely changes her life. Spending time with her while getting farm ready to sell opens up a life he never considered. Full of faith and love from some wonderful characters. A very enjoyable read.
I truly enjoyed this book and their stories. I feel in love with the small town of Rosewood Valley and can't wait to read more. From the very beginning, through the end of the book, I was sucked in.
Rachel is a giving person who would give the shirt off of her back if someone needed it . Jacks Grandpa passed away and he inherited the farm and a feed store he had owned . The community and characters the author created pulled me into the story ! Very family oriented and wholesome !
What a wonderful sweet storyline. Loved it very much. Jack want to sell his late grandfather ranch, to get approval of his father. There is only one problem and her name is Rachel. Loved this awesome story.
If you like Hallmark movies this is the book for you. Typical girl meets boys, Both like each other but have several reasons for not starting a relationship, and, of course you know how it is going to end.
This is Book#2 in Four Sisters Ranch series, focus on sister Rachel. She works the ranch with her dad, helps out with the new business her family start with "Farm to Table" events and helps out anyone who needs a helping hand. She is generous to a fault. So when her former girlhood crush comes back to town to sell his grandfather's ranch he inherited, she does her best to help him get it ready for sale, but she really wants him to sell it to her. Can she convince Jack Hart to make her dream come true. Jack Hart is a real estate expert and part of his father business. He is hoping for a quick sale once he has the ranch house more modern and get back to his life in San Francisco. But he didn't count on Rachel Spencer all grown up and feeling a pull of attraction and her big heart, wanting to help him even if he does not sell her her dream. Jack's father wants him to sell it fast and make a big sale, all Jack wants his father's approval. Or so he thinks. With Rachel and her family and the town of Rosewood Valley, jack's learns there is more to life than getting the approval of his father and seeing that he might have a different life. He has to look deep inside of himself and pray on what will really make him happy. This book is a lovely read, about family, friends and faith and love. The author does a good job of bringing all of these three together to make a wonderful story you will feel good about when you finish. Rachel and Jack are a perfect pair and I can't wait to read more about the Spencer sisters and their family and the people of Rosewood Valley. I was given an ARC of this book by the author for my honest review, to which I am given freely.
I am really enjoying Julia Ruth’s “Four Sisters Ranch” series! “The Cowboy’s Inheritance,” is Rachel’s story, book number two in the series. It can be read as a stand alone, but do yourself a favor a read them in order as they do give a lead in to the next story’s characters. Rachel sold her property to help her family save their farm. She has always loved the neighbor, George Hart’s house, and would like to be able to join the property with the Four Sisters Ranch. George has passed away and Rachel is planning to make a bid for the property when George’s grandson arrives to sell. Jack Hart is a realtor and needs to sell for top dollar to win a promotion within his dad’s company. Jack is all suits, dress shoes, and sporty cars. Rachel is jeans, boots, and horses. Can the city boy and country girl find common ground?
