Set sail with USA Today bestselling author R.S. Grey in this sizzling romance between old rivals who reunite on a cruise ship, only to discover that they want much more than just another competition.

Casey Hughes is a struggling travel journalist desperate for a big break when she lands the assignment of a hop on board Aurelia for its maiden voyage through paradise. While she’ll bask in the luxury cruise ship’s fine dining and complimentary spa treatments, her real mission is to snag an exclusive interview with Phillip Woodmont.

Casey and the elusive shipping heir have history. Once, they were nothing short of brutal enemies. Though the former brace-faced teen is now a suited-up CEO with devastating good looks, he makes it clear to Casey that he has no interest in forgetting their past.

The volatile grudge between them is as explosive as ever. More than once Casey is tempted to toss Phillip overboard, but for her work, she’ll have to swallow her pride. If it’s an apology he’s after, she’ll serve it up on a silver platter. If he wants her to walk the plank, she’ll salute with an aye, aye, Captain.

Casey can’t let him provoke her. She needs this interview. So if Phillip wants to play dirty, Casey will just have to play dirtier.

“I’ve fallen for you,” he admits boldly. […]
“I’m falling for you, too, Phillip.” I have fallen. hard.”

one thing is certain: whenever R.S. Grey writes, I devour her books within a day. her novels always have the power to cure my reading slumps. 'Caribbean Crush' was no exception - set on a cruise ship, it transported me to picturesque settings and immersed me in a passionate romance. I enjoyed every moment of it.

Casey needed a career boost, so she took a calculated risk by claiming a long-standing friendship with Philippe, the owner of the luxurious Aurelia cruise. what she failed to disclose was that Philippe remembered her as the girl who accidentally broke his nose years ago. as a result, she was sent to secure an exclusive interview with Philippe while enjoying ten idyllic days on the ship. however, Philippe's memory was still sharp, and he was far from thrilled to see her again. he was not inclined to give her what she wanted, setting the stage for a tense and potentially disastrous encounters.

the banter in this book was absolutely delicious, with a perfect blend of witty repartee and humor. the enemies-to-lovers storyline was remarkably crafted, with Casey and Philippe engaging in biting exchanges that left no one feeling comfortable. the tension was palpable throughout the narrative, with well-timed jealousy moments that added to the emotional intensity. Casey's struggles during her crisis resonated deeply with me, and I found myself empathizing with her plight. Philippe, on the other hand, was the quintessential tall, handsome, and successful male man character. while his inner thoughts about his ex-fiancée in the early chapters felt slightly unnecessary, I still enjoyed his character immensely.

overall, I loved the book despite some minor quibbles. the writing was engaging, and the romance was addicting and satisfying. If you enjoy a good enemies-to-lovers story with plenty of humor and heart, this is definitely a book worth reading.

”becoming an orphan when you’re a young adult is a bitter pill to swallow. no one really feels all that bad for you because you’re not a kid anymore, but it doesn’t negate the fact that you’re really on your own now.”

Let me tell you, this book is like a tropical vacation for your soul! I could imagine myself chilling on a sunny beach, waves crashing in the distance, with "Caribbean Crush" by R.S. Grey in hand.

First up, we've got Casey Hughes, a kickass travel journalist on a mission. She's all about snagging that exclusive interview with the oh-so-elusive Phillip Woodmont. But here's the twist: they've got history, and not the good kind. We're talking enemies-turned-lovers vibes here, and as this is one of my favorite tropes I absolutely loved it!

But wait, it's not just about romance. Casey's friendship with Sienna? Total #FriendshipGoals! These two are like the dynamic duo of the high seas, and their banter had me laughing out loud. Their bond added such a heartwarming layer to the story, making it feel like a true summer escape.

Oh, and the tension between Casey and Phillip Woodmont! Talk about enemies-to-lovers done right! Their history crackled with intensity, and watching them navigate their complicated past and their feelings had me flipping pages so fast! Their relationship might feel a little rushed in the beginning, but hey, who can resist a little steam in paradise?

R.S. Grey has created a romcom that's equal parts sweet and spicy. It's like a summer fling in book form—short, fun, and totally addictive. So if you're in the mood for a beach read that'll have you swooning one minute and laughing the next, "Caribbean Crush" is your go-to.

I’m having a really hard time understanding why an adult man would harbor such feelings of anger and betrayal so many years after a middle school prank. I just really do not like arguments between children being the source of tension between adults in an enemies to lovers romance. I’m too old for this.

I always used to love this author’s books, but I’m starting to think we’re heading in different directions. This just seemed so wordy, and filled with details that weren’t necessary. Flashbacks to middle school are taking forever. Explanations and descriptions are taking forever. There’s hardly any actual dialogue, it’s all just telling. I appreciate the dual point of view, but they are both telling the reader the same thing. I don’t care to read all the he said she said stuff. I also really don’t care about all the technological workings of a cruise ship. I want fun and romance, not science. I don’t care to hear interviews word for word. It’s boring, listening to Phillip think things and then say those same things to various reporters or journalists or coworkers. I loved the foundation of the friendship developing between the main girl and her neighbor, but I can’t hang in there long enough to see that through. These two main characters are just too immature.

Casey Hughes has always wanted to work in travel journalism, and see the world, so she’s thrilled when the magazine she works for finally gives her an exciting assignment. For the next ten days she will be sailing around the Caribbean on a luxury cruise ship. She can enjoy the perks, but Bon Voyage magazine wants an exclusive from the powerful, mysterious, shipping heir CEO Phillip Woodmont, and she’s promised to deliver. Her job is on the line, and she’s determined to persuade him to give her an interview. The only possible issue could be their history. She hasn’t seen him since middle school, so she assumes he won’t recognize her all grown up. It’s been a long time, but he clearly hasn’t forgotten her or their past, and holds a major grudge. This successful, devastatingly handsome man is nothing like the boy she remembered from her prep school days. He’s a private person dedicated to his career, and his main priority is Woodmont Overseas. On board Aurelia they clash at every turn. It’s challenging and all fun and games until real feelings get involved and everything turns complicated.

Caribbean Crush by R.S. Grey is a slow burn, forced proximity, billionaire, grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, workplace romance about friendship, self discovery and second chances. As old rivals reunite we get a romantic comedy full of humor, passion, delicious tension, explosive chemistry and fabulous banter. I really enjoyed this story and these characters. This book would make the perfect summer, beach read. :))

Wanting nothing more than to be a travel journalist and to see the world, Casey Hughes has settled into being a fact checker. Being content for now along with using a little white lie, Casey now has a ten day work trip on a very luxurious cruise ship. Her job is not only to get a one on one interview with the cruise ship owner, but she secretly has to make amends with him as well. This exotic trip will look like a nightmare if the past is not forgiven.

giphy-28

Philip has made a name for himself as a successful business man. After years of putting in hard work and bringing his company to new heights, Philip is looking forward to this new adventure and setting sail. Clear skies, tropical drinks, what could possibly go wrong? Your arch nemesis resurfacing and asking for an interview while aboard your ship? This is going to be a long ten day trip.

I enjoyed the characters banter even though I was expecting to full on belly laugh with some things that could've happened. The days felt long but I really liked that we were given glimpses into the day trips and the interactions with the side characters. They were entertaining, witty and they made us really want to experience everything with them.

This was mostly a slow burn but I feel like it had to be done that way. We needed those day to day moments, we had to see how much of the past truly affected the present, and we also needed the main characters to come into their own. With all of that, I think that this was a good vacation enemies to lovers read. If you're in the mood for something fun, I recommend you go with this one.

This book started off with all the promises of being the perfect rom com to escape with and for the most part that’s what this book delivered but I found it swerved into less laughs and more desperate to race to their happily ever after - which is ok, I just found it to be a little rushed. Overall, I think my rating landed on personal preference and I would have liked more banter over spice and story development over insta lust.

Do I enjoy reading this authors books? always. Was this a favourite of mine? not this time around. Do I think others will enjoy? Yes.

Things I did enjoy included - the developing friendship between the protagonist and her holiday friend, the history between the protagonist’s and the descriptions of travel on this luxury cruise.

RS Grey will continue to be a winner in the romance world her stories create an escape for all us love story enthusiasts. This time around I fell into like and not love - and that’s ok, I’m sure many of you will find more to love. Enjoy.

Story 3.25 stars. Narration 4 stars
This is from one of my auto buy authors and I’m just now getting to it. It was a good romance with fairly good main characters. Most of the book takes place on a cruise ship and various ports of call. I enjoyed my time with Phillip and Casey however I did have a few problems with Casey and her negative attitude about the romance, towards the end in particular. I just wanted her to suck it up and move on. The other thing that bothered me was the ending. It didn’t make any sense. Unless magic was involved. Who knows? And yes I am marking this as a spoiler. I just think the ending could have been done better and made more sense in more than one way. Rant over! I do think most adult romance readers will probably enjoy this.

I really disliked the main characters initially (because tell me why a grown as man still harbors this much resentment about something that happened in middle school 🙄) but by the time I finished reading, these two had grown so much on. I can admit they were cute together with good chemistry.
Although the “I don’t deserve such an amazing guy” and “let me leave him first before he leaves me” the FMC was doing was super annoying.
My favorite part of this book was however the friendship between Casey and Sienna.

4.5 stars!!!!

This book was good! It seems silly to say that, but honestly, I just had so much fun!! I started the book 4 hours ago, and I just couldn't put it down until I finished.

I think what I loved most about this book was the banter between Casey and Phillip.

Casey is a self-proclaimed wallflower who is in a dead-end job as a fact-checker with a travel magazine. She started working there out of college and hasn't been promoted since. Honestly, she is not really sure they know she exists, except when they want to pile work on her. She recently lost her only living relative, has no friends, and is homeless, with massive debt to pay off. We can confidently say this is a down-on-her-luck gal. So, when she sees the opportunity to go in a 2-week-cruise to the Caribbean, she takes it. So what if she lies and tells her boss she has an in with the guy they want to interview?

Enter Phillip, a broody billionaire with a heart of gold who holds a grudge against Casey for something that happened in 8th grade. Also, did I mention that he is a very private person and has no intention of letting Casey interview him?

Yeah, it gets interesting.

What I loved:
- Casey really found her witty side with Phillip. She gets tired of being stepped on by everyone (by life, honestly) and starts fighting back. Not only does she find a backbone with Phillip, but also with her job.

-Siena. Let me tell you, I need a friend like that. I was really afraid the beginning that she was going to end up stabbing Casey in the back, but I'm glad to be wrong. Although, I thought she and Javier were going to have something more? Kind of bummed there. Tyson also deserves an honorable mention tbh.

- Finally, Phillip. I'll let you guys find that out for yourselves. Just, when he makes sure everyone in the ship is at her disposal. Swoon!!!!!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

”You do this, Casey. You make me feel like I’m finally fucking waking up, you know? I’m seeing what it’s supposed to be like.”

This was incredibly cute and fun. It’s all surface level but that’s what was so good about it. The hate vibes coming off Phillip setup some great interactions and banter between him and Casey until their mutual attraction couldn’t be ignored. I kept waiting(dreading) for some drama or miscommunication to appear but thankfully that didn’t happen.

I also adored the friendship Casey developed with Sienna. I don’t always put much stock in that kind of thing but I really loved that positivity in this story.

I do wish the ending was a little less far fetched but overall an enjoyable and easy read 🤗

Aspiring travel writer Casey Hughes is paying her dues as a fact checker. When her boss wants an interview with a long lost childhood friend, Casey finds herself volunteering and quickly on a new cruise ship with strict instructions to land that interview with the CEO. What follows is smoking tension and steaming nights and breaking the one rule of cruise ships - do not fall in love with your cruise ship fling!

Books and Authors mentioned: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas with Auguste Maquet

Memorable Quotes: I’ve always wanted to work in travel journalism. My initial longing to see far-off places stems not from inspiring college lectures but from TV shows like The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. In the afternoons, after school, my grandmother and I would sit on the couch together, watching Bob Barker and Pat Sajak woo contestants and audiences alike with the promise of luxurious vacation prizes. Jamaica, South Africa, England—it didn’t matter. “Oh, Italy!” my grandmother would exclaim. “I’ve always wanted to go there!” Then she’d turn to me with an imploring look in her eyes. “Promise me, when you’re older, you’ll go off somewhere exotic and tell me all about it! I want to know everything.” And I would nod and agree and promise to do just that. Her desire to see the world became my desire.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🛳👙

My thoughts: 🔖Page 12 of 291 Chapter Two CASEY - I'm trying to ignore all of the things that contradict my own luxury cruise knowledge and experience. Like the ship is at the dock when you leave, if you have a butler and huge balconies you shouldn't see neighboring balconies all around. That’s not how you check-in, etc. I'm just biting my tongue and trying to enjoy this journey.

This was good. The cruise seemed to be smaller than the large commercial cruise line vessels so maybe that was the difference. I enjoyed this story, but I was annoyed that the characters on the cover don't match the book descriptions of the main characters. Casey is a brunette, while the woman on the cover is blonde. It took a few turns so it wasn't predictable, I didn't read the blurb but it seemed at the end of each chapter the story could go in several directions. I few times I was reading a scene and wondering how we got here, as their emotions turned on a dime. I tried to look up Tyson's book but didn't find one. I will be reading more from this author, it seems that she has a few vacation romances in her catalog.

Recommend to others: Yes. This was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint.

R.S. Grey's Caribbean Crush is a delightful romantic comedy that delivers on humour, romance, and character development. Having read most of R.S. Grey's books, I can say she consistently writes great romcoms, and this one is no exception. The story follows Casey Hughes, a wallflower turned assertive travel journalist, who embarks on a Caribbean cruise seeking an exclusive interview with the private and broody billionaire, Phillip Woodmont. Their history of unresolved tension from middle school sets the stage for a compelling enemies-to-lovers narrative, enhanced by witty banter and heartfelt moments.

What truly stands out is Casey's transformation. Initially down on her luck, she gradually finds her voice and confidence, both in her professional life and personal interactions with Phillip. This growth is mirrored in her friendship with the vibrant Sienna, whose supportive presence adds warmth and depth to the story. The interactions between Casey and Phillip, filled with chemistry and tension, keep the reader engaged, despite the romance feeling a bit rushed at times.

Overall, Caribbean Crush is a fun, fast-paced read that offers a perfect blend of sweetness and spice, making it an ideal beach read.

This was a cute romance with great chemistry between the two characters.

Casey is desperate for a good story aboard her first cruise surrounded by influencers when she realises the biggest story might be with the person she’s been a rival with for years, the shipping heir Phillip.

Easy to read and a nice sunny escape for readers who like Emily Henry and Tessa Bailey.

huh. Do you know how long I wanted for this book? A while. And RS Grey is my go to girl- I can count on a perfect fast read that will be super enjoyable and can read in one sitting. Did I read this in one sitting? Yes. I also did the audiobook to for kicks and giggles. However, I didn't like the FMC being whiny and complaining. The MC was focused on someone else, and then I didn't feel the connection when he set his eyes of our girl. It went to insta love quick- and that's saying something. Where was his hate from before? Also, never to be mentioned again, so what was the point of their rift? The ending too. Like he was just suprised as she was bumping into one another. It felt forced. And I was shocked.

THIS WONT STOP ME FROM READING RA GREY MIND YOU- but this one put a damper on me. :(

Caribbean Crush by R.S.Grey is perfect summer read. The luxurious cruise ship and the dreamy destinations play a perfect set up for this entertaining, slow burn, a bit heartaching second chance enemies to lovers romance. Casey made me laugh with her quirks and accidents..and then made me cry with her pain and sadness. Billionaire Phillip Woodmont is a powerful man who controls everything in his life but Casey is tied to a past that wasn't exactly this easy or charming. The enemies to lovers tension. The angst of second chance. The heartache and thrill of forbidden romance. It was a fast paced, emotional, swoony and spicy read.

🛳 billionaire romance
🛳 enemies to lovers
🛳 second chance
🛳 vacation romance
🛳 forced proximity

Casey Hughes has landed herself in hot water by claiming that she can land an exclusive interview with shipping industry king Phillip Woodmont because she " knew" him in school. Her career in Bon Voyage is stuck as a fact checker and she is desperate to fulfill her dream as travel journalist. But the truth is she and Phillip had a bitter past because of a silly sabotage in a school event. She has boarded Aurelia, the luxury cruise ship as an invited media person but can she score the interview? What about the sizzling hot chemistry running between them when they both think it can go nowhere?

Casey is such a beautiful character. She has been fighting just to stay afloat. Losing her grandmother and then the financial issues and then witnessing her dream career dying slowly..it was a lot. She has been in a vacant, colorless and lifeless state for a while now. This assignment with Aurelia and the company owner himself is the last straw. Phillip Woodmont has come so far from the shy nerd in school but he hasn't forgotten how Casey sabotaged the quiz competition in school..because he doesn't know she did it to save herself from a bully. So he didn't want to give her any time. But she is persistent and she wore him down slowly with her sass and her witty attacks. He was intrigued by her personality and her beauty because she is unlike anyone else in his life. She isn't intimidated by his wealth or his power or his grumpy brooding personality. She challenges him. She is filling his life with fire and colour. The chemistry is scorching hot and they tried to keep it sex only but their hearts had other ideas. Things got complicated for a while. Casey's fear to get hurt again made her push Phillip away over and over again. She stormed into his life and turned everything upside down and he realised that he doesn't want controlled and composed. He wants all the mess and chaos. I loved the secondary characters so much. Overall an extremely enjoyable read.

What I liked: There is nothing I love more than a cruise setting. Growing up we did a lot of family cruises and I always had that fantasy of finding a vacation fling aboard the seas. I also enjoyed the sheer opulence of the setting. This is supposed to be the most innovative and high class ship and I feel like it really showed that on the page.

Now for what I didn't love: Look I really wanted to love this book. I've read almost all of R.S Grey's books and I am just starting to find them too formulaic, the characters too perfect, and the enemies-to-lovers arc too cliche. For example, Philip hates Casey because the mean girls in her middle school made her play a prank on him and 20 years later he is STILL holding a grudge. Like dude MOVE ON! I don't think anyone has a good middle school experience. I don't even remember middle school! What really ruined the story for me was at the end of the book Sienna hands Casey an Instagram account she secretly created for her even though Casey isn't a "social media girl" and the account just happens to have 25,000 followers. Why is that you ask? Because she was featured on Sienna's page and everyone thought she was hot. It's so unrealistic and kind of icky. If she had to have a social media stardom plotline, I would have much preferred Sienna convince Casey to start the account herself and tell her she would mentor her or something along those lines.

Look I'm sure a lot of people will love this book. At one point, I probably would have too. I am just looking to read romance with a little more substance.

Thank you NetGalley, Montlake and RJ Grey for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Caribbean Crush is my first book by RJ Grey but it won’t be my last. This was so cute.

I have never wanted to go on a cruise but this book sure tempted me, if Phillip ever wants to invite me on an ultra luxury cruise I would made an exception for him!

Casey is a hardworking fact checker who dreams of being a travel journalist. She is quiet and keeps her head down - until she doesn’t, and finds herself committing to getting an interview from a previous classmate who is now an impossible interview to land.

Casey and Phillip have a history which I’m a sucker for but they also have tension and some wonderful banter.

I am obsessed with Casey’s fast friendship with Sienna and how they were so supportive of each other despite being very different and just meeting.

An adorable story that gives the perfect summer vibes and a lovely second chance!

Casey is an aspiring travel journalist who gets the break of a lifetime by going on an exclusive cruise due to her “connection” with the CEO. Her career is hinged on an interview with said CEO, Phillip, who just so happens to be holding a grudge against her from decades ago.

Can she convince him to give her the interview her career is banking on? Will he forgive her from the one mistake she made it as a preteen? Will this insane attraction they share and the bickering that borders foreplay turn into something more?

I really enjoyed this book. I especially loved Casey’s relationship with another member of the cruise. Their friendship was everything! Casey and Phillip’s relationship was so sweet, and had the prefect level of back and forth, sweetness, and spice.

RS’s writing reminds me of a modern day Jane Austen. I read almost every book in one sitting, it’s that good!

You will enjoy this book if you love second chance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, he falls first

Thank you to RS Grey and NetGalley for the arc!

Enemies to Lovers, back to enemies, back to lovers.

Full disclosure: I won this e-book in a Goodreads giveaway. I enter giveaways for anything that sounds remotely interesting, because I love free books, so I don't generally start with the grand expectations I have for an author I am more familiar with.

All that being said, I genuinely enjoyed this one. A struggling wannabe journalist gets her big break after making a promise she's not sure she can follow through on. She has to interview a former flame who things DID NOT end well with. He's a grouchy, wildly successfully, and sinfully beautiful man who holds a grudge from their past. Will she get the story? Will they break down their carefully constructed mental walls? Will any of it even matter?

Pick it up and find out.

4.5 stars because I ate everything up except for the ending. Not usually a fan of “lower middle class girl makes friends with a famous influencer and connects with a rich cruise owner”, but R.S Grey did this so well! Loved every minute of this juicy drama, give me all the drama.

This books release day was yesterday, 10/10 recommend picking it up. Awful workplace, luxurious cruise, influencer bestie, cruise romance, lingering ex, past comes back to haunt, a little humor, grieving a family member, in between homes — this book has it all.

Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The audio quality was amazing and I enjoyed the narrators. Dual POV from the FMC and MMC, which are voiced by two different people. I couldn’t put this down!

Perfect Feel-Good Romance!

If I didn’t know any better then I’d definitely think this author is psychic… whenever I’m in a slump or not feeling the best mentally, her books always help. They either give me a reprieve from reality or can be a palette cleanser for me. This book wasn’t any different, it was a feel good romance, with a heroine, Casey who is just hard down on her luck and an irresistible, swoony love interest, Phillip that you can’t help loving. If you want a book with low angst then this is the book to read, but my heart did break a little for Casey. I loved the chemistry between these two, and can definitely say it’s a steamier romance from this author. I loved every second of it.
Highly recommend, and if you want more then you can’t go wrong reading any of this author’s books. She’s been one of my favourites for years and still remains so. The book flows easily and whisks you away. I devoured this in one sitting. Loved it!
