Never in my life have I been turned on by a severed head. Well, it was actually the gorgeous creature that threw it on the council table that did me in. Her silver hair, curvy body, and long legs have my wolf drooling in seconds. Until she brushes a stray lock behind her pointed ear. It's against council law for supernaturals to interbreed. We have to stick with our own species. Outraged, my wolf squirms as I try to contain it. She is our enemy. I argue with my wolf. She is our mate. He growls his reply. Hiding my shock and my … feelings, I can only let my cool anger show in front of the other councilors. OK. Think about the head. Not that one… the bodiless head on the table! I’m screwed… and Not in the fun way.

This was a decent length novel with an enemy to lover storyline. The main characters, Erin and Cormac, were like fire and ice. It almost reminded me of kids on the cusp to becoming teenagers that liked each other but didn't know how to handle it all, so they were constantly at eachothers throats. I wished there was more character building for Erin and Cormac. They went from enemies due to the past on the species to lovers pretty quickly, in my opinion, but at the same time, they're supposed to be leaders of their kind. I would have thought each of them would have more self control and much more mature behaviors.
The overall storyline was a good one. I first thought it was heading in one direction but as each plot was revealed, I was able to figure out the why's. My main complaint would be the ending. It felt very rushed from the villain's evil plans being revealed to bammmm....the end.
Although not on one of my favorites list, I would definitely read from the author again.

What a fun little book with some interesting twists that I didn’t see coming. I love enemies to lovers with dual POVs chapters, always nice to see what both characters are thinking.
🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨 I thought that Erin and Cormac went from enemies to lovers too quickly without any explanation. They are fated mates but it seemed strange given the initial tension.
This book is also very dialogue heavy, some of which I found clunky. Still, glad I got the opportunity to read the eARC via BookSprout.

Sometimes fate steps in taking over all control we have sexy as all get out Cormac a werewolf and Erin the queen of the elves. The council had determined that “All Creatures Are Equal” yet the werewolves, witches, demons, and vampires are the chosen few if you aren’t one of them than you really don’t matter what supernatural class you come from if you aren’t part of the four classified groups. Erin shows up at a council meeting with a severed head a wolf throws it on the center of the table to inform them he took down two of her warriors before she cut the head off and she isn’t going to allow them to keep coming into her territory boy does it set Cormac on the wrong path. But what really sets him on the wrong path is the idea that his wolf is screaming mate, yet he knows it is against all rules that two different breeds can’t mate which is just plain frustrating for the two of them. They are both bit childish in how they approach it she is the queen, him an alpha two different classifications but will they work on getting it together, can they find a way to communicate without being childish, will they be accepted considering how pushed out of the supernatural the elves feel, will her people accept him as her mate, will his people accept her as his mate, can they get past all their differences and find a HEA along the way?
I have been lucky to ARC read almost all of Leigh’s books and this is the absolute best one YET! The characters are incredibly well written, the plot is amazing, and I did not see what happened HAPPENING.
I was roped in from the very beginning. There was no hesitation in this being a fast paced story, but yet it wasn’t too short or too long. Erin knew what needed to be done and where to go, so she went right to The Council. Right to Cormac. *swoon* Cormac wasn’t prepared for the storm that came his way.
“He has no idea how far I will go for revenge. The elven blood is sacred, and I’ll die before I let any more of it be spilled. As the queen, I owe that much to my people.” Yeah, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
That storm ends up being his. To the point that he says, “You are divine. You are mine.”
A good old paranormal enemies to lovers, fated mates, with breath taking romance. And let’s not forgot the battle to reclaim what’s right and what’s meant to be.
You will not regret this. I sure don’t. I love every book by Leigh but this one is the best one ever.

When Erin, Queen of the Elves, walks into the Supernatural Council and throws a monsters head on the table she's wanting to know the truth of what has been terrorising the Elves for years and who is responsible. But for Cormac, the Alpha of the Werewolves and leader of the Council, all he can do is not react to her as he knows he's finally met his Mate. The problem is that interspecies relationships are banned so how can an elf and a werewolf be fated mates?
A well written story full of action, misunderstandings, mystery, betrayal, murder and love. I couldn't put it down once I'd started and if you enjoy books with shifters, fated mates, witches, vampires, elves & steamy romance I would strongly recommend.

Amazing that the supernatural in this book practice separate species and no intermingling. Cormac meets his mate in the elf queen who’s come to the council to find out who in the group is sending hybrid beast to the elf lands to kill her and her people. When she is attacked and trying to stop her attraction to the Alpha and council chairman she realizes she is more than she knew and has to fight for her life. As the eclipse approaches supernatural lives are at stake until Erin can figure out who is responsible and how to stop the hatred amongst the wolves and the elves. 🧝♀️
They are enemies and fated mates someone is killing Erin's people, and she takes her issues to the council and in doing so finds her mate Cormac. The problem is that they are prohibited to be together because they are different species. As they work together to find out what is really going on will they be able to fight out the intense feelings to mate and be together. This story kept me glued to the pages from start to finish.

Erin knows the wolves don't trust her but the Alpha Cormac seems to draw her in. Cormac finds she's his mate but she's elven. What happens next almost leads to the destruction of all they hold dear. Can they find the one making the beasts before it's too late? Will Erin discover her true self and with it the power she has? Lots of twists and some interesting story lines.

Forbidden, suspenseful and impending danger takes Erin and Alpha Cormac on an adventure that draws them closer together. Yet their difference in species cause a maelstrom of problems for the council and those who wish to keep interspecies breeding from occurring. This was an exciting read I really enjoyed.

I liked the enemies to lovers trope in this book but it was too heavy on the plot for me. I feel like the romance/fated mates definitely came secondary to everything else.
Also he locked her up in the basement for two days and I was hoping she would at least make him work for her forgiveness but she didn’t!!
We are in a council meeting and Erin walks in carrying a head and I go wild inside. She is my mate. But she has elf ears. Crossbreeds are not accepted. My wolf is going crazy and yet I know death is the only way. Erin is being hunted, but we do not believe her. Until they come to our town.

This book will keep you guessing about so many things! The animosity and mystery starts from practically page 1 and just keeps getting better. I thoroughly enjoyed Enemy of the Alpha. I would recommend it for anyone who likes fantasy, werewolves, conflict, mystery, and of course a love story.

A page turner. This book has it all with nothing to dislike. You start with a mystery, merge into intrigue, then move to a romance/thriller. You are then thrown into heroic rescue and war then treatises and mergers ending with love and children. A very good book, I recommend it.
Set aside a day for this paranormal supernatural enemies to lovers palace intrigue involving Erin, Queen of the Elves, and Alpha Cormac of the werewolves as they battle the invading monsters.

A fun story where an elf and wolf meet and must deal with their attraction, mate signs, and a bit of a mystery. Trouble and intrigue abound. Enjoyed the story and watching it all unfold and try to guess what is going on.
This engaging PNR has enemies to lovers, fated mates, different species, and murders to solve. The MCs are defined, likable, and have issues to resolve. I liked this enjoyable and entertaining book.

Erin, Queen of the Elves, knows how to make an entrance specially when she walks into the Council room with the head of a dead "Thing" as she doesn't know what the thing is.
All members of the Council cannot turn their attention away when she throws the severed head on the Council table. However, her attention is focused on the Council Leader, a Warewolf named Carmack. The reason is quite simple. The severed head strangely resembles that of a Warewolf.
The author uses her gift to create a compelling story about two Fated Mates from different species of the Supernatural Realm who only co-exist because of a treaty that was signed many years ago between species, while the hate and mistrust still linger.
The plot is very good, filled with love, hate, mistrust, jealousy, treachery, power hungry beings and the inevitable loyalty within the command structure of each species doubled with the fear spaked by legends of the unknown that make this a must read page turner that I highly recommend and rate 5 Stars.
