Not sure what happened, but i found this book to be tedious and boring. Parts os it were OK, but overall i found myself just wanting the book to end. I even skipped a few chapters towards the middle, as meaningless drama unfolded. The main issue with this and the previous two books was the authors wanting to tell a grand tale, but limiting to just three final books. This forced them to rush through scenes, and skip over details that mattered, like glossing over the Precursor stations and artifacts.
This last book also suffered from the authors wanting to close out all the plot holes. So much was made of the big baddie and the ultimate weapon, and so much was left out there, that when all was said and done, the galactic threat was neutralized in two simple sentences, and onto dealing with the Commander, a normal sidekick. This is likely a result of not wanting to recreate the last battle between Riker and Noth, and having read like the ending of the Fearsome Foursome, (points for Fart Monster) as they rightly made fun of it in character dialogue How do you write about a baddie capable of eating inter-dimensional worm hole? Well you don't, you simply kill them off screen like these authors did, even after hyping the confrontation for three books.
It's becoming apparent that the Renegade series was a one-off and these add-on series are not worth the investment. Shame.
