The Flower Sisters #2.5

Snowbound with the Suffragette

Rate this book
The weather outside is frightful, but his kiss is so delightful…

Sadie swore she wouldn't miss the ballrooms or her family's stifling expectations as long as she could devote herself to the suffrage movement. Preferring protests to promenades, she never expected to want to win a man’s attention. Until a handsome activist challenges all her rules.

Garrett can charm his way into anyone’s good graces, but he finds himself tongue-tied whenever the prickly suffragette is nearby. He will do anything to prove himself worthy of her, including devoting himself to the cause she loves.

When an unexpected winter storm traps them together, the temperature rises in more ways than one. Can a self-made Scot be enough for an Upper West Side debutante?

Get ready for a sizzling, banter-filled romance between a bold heroine and a cinnamon roll hero with abs for days. Snowbound with the Suffragette is a steamy, grumpy-sunshine novella-length romance, perfect for fans of Tessa Dare and Felicity Niven.

About the author

Ginny B. Moore

10 books65 followers
Ginny was the kid who loved kissing scenes in movies and always rooted for Mulder and Scully to hook up. Her first piece of writing was a horrendous fanfic romance based on The Three Musketeers when she was thirteen that will never see the light of day.

Ginny started writing romance with purpose in 2021 to avoid doom-scrolling social media and has never stopped. To pay the bills, she is a middle school assistant principal and has been in education for fifteen years. Most of her writing is done on her phone or in the parking lot of her kids’ extracurricular activities.

When she is not writing, Ginny is a very slow long-distance runner or making a dent in her endless “to be read” list. She is the mother of three kids, two exceptionally stupid dogs, two codependent cats, and the grandmother to a hermit crab.

While she started writing during the pandemic, she has found it to be a new lifeline and form of self-care and has already planned her next five books in the series.

Are you looking for a perfect little historical romance novella? Well, that's what you get with Snowbound with the Suffragette. We absolutely loved it.

You can expect:

*Some weather-related forced proximity (snowed in AND damp, meaning they are forced to take off their clothes!);
*So much pining;
*Miscommunication, but not too much (it's a novella AND there's some meta commentary we absolutely adored);
*Hungry but not for food (let's just say that Garrett has his breakfast in bed);
*Only one bed (it's one of those offices that also has a bed that only seem to exist in romance novels and that we're 100% in love with).

We wouldn't have changed a thing.

5-Word Summaries:

Laine: Only one bed, office style

Meg: Oh no, we’re snowed in!

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novella.

Cute, well written and 🥵🥵 novella from this new-to-me author. I like that it was set in 1903 Brooklyn, and that it’s set in an atmospheric firehouse that is now the HQ for the FMC Sadie’s suffragist organization. The poor lass gets stuck there due to an ice storm with only hunky Garrett to keep her warm. Shenanigans ensue.

3.75 stars due to too much smirking and for the rushed HEA.

Everything about this novella is perfection. Ginny Moore has gotten more confident, and it shows. She just keeps getting better. Once I started Sadie and Garrett’s story, I couldn’t stop reading. If you like snowed in, only one bed, steamy romance, run to grab this novella now!

I received an ARC of this title from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.

Did I expect a novella to save me from a reading rut and reignite my passion for love stories in the last few days of the year? Not at all. Did Ginny B. Moore do just that? 100%.

This beautifully simple snowed-in story is rich with humor and SO MUCH YEARNING. Garrett is a cinnamon roll of a gentleman who makes pining after Sadie (with her adorable reading glasses and ink stained fingertips) look like an Olympic sport. Sadie is a spitfire women’s rights activist who wields her tongue like a blade to distract from the fact that she can’t stop thinking about Garrett’s thighs. Snowed-in together during a dreadful ice storm, their secret feelings for each other become harder and harder to deny. From adorably alluring alliterative word play to steamy seductive sex scenes, this novella is short and sweet, but brings the heat!

I received an advanced reader copy for review of Snowbound with the Suffragette and will now be reading all of Ginny Moore’s other books as part of my New Year’s resolution.

I wanted to read Garrett's story since I met him in A Rose Blooms in Brooklyn. And this story did not dissapointed, first of all, it has one of my favorite tropes ever, snowed in, and also, they were pining for each other since they met.

I enjoyed it a lot and plan to read more books by the author

This was the sweetest way to spend a winter afternoon! It was perfect - I just would have loved more backstory on their relationship to build the tension before the first love scene. It felt a little rushed to me.

Tropes: enemies to lovers; sunshine MMC/grumpy MFC; forced proximity
Steam level: 3
Language: a handful of "f-bombs", if those offend you

This is a sweet, funny, sexy little breath of fresh air from an author I haven't read before, but expect to in the future. It's set in New York in the early 1900's, with MC's involved in the suffragette movement, but most of the focus is on the chemistry between them. No surprises here, but the banter and the humor work perfectly. Highly recommend this novella as a post-Christmas or anytime mood-lifter.

Run, don't walk. Just go read this novella! Moore has managed to pack so much emotion, longing, and steam into this novella- it's unreal. I actually GASPED at one point because of how full my heart felt. (Also- the. steam.)

Sadie and Garret. I love them! Often times in novellas, because of the shorter page length, I am left with a slight feeling of wanting just a bit more emotional development OR wishing for a full-length novel. This was not the case in "Snowbound." This is the complete package for the reader.

Moore has wonderful pacing that never felt too quick or too slow. She also has the ability to insert comedy into a title that I feel greatly surpasses some of the "bigger-named AKA Big lublishing house" authors in HR that are known for their humor. I'm not one to seek out humor in HRs and dislike it if it feels forced. Moore is a brilliant writer be it with comedy or deep emotional connection between characters. She also has wonderful banter and sparring between Sadie and Garrett.

It is SO refreshing to have an HR that is NOT Regency. I love Regency, I'm always going to read Regency, but I need variety. It is awesome to have an American title that doesn't involve the common themes of cowboys, Native Americans, pioneers, or clean Christian romances. As a reader, I feel more and more modern HR readers are interested in America-based reads from a variety of periods (I'd personally skip a pilgrim book, though. The Reformation Period just lacks some serious sex appeal and screams oppression. 🤣)

As for steam, Moore uses largely explicit language in her writing throughout. The scenes are wonderfully detailed and verrry steamy! A variety of acts and lengths of scenes. This novella is packed with heat- Moore came to take NO prisoners.

“I will not lust after my secretary today.” If that opening line doesn’t give ominous clues to the lusty nature of this story, I don’t know what will. This will they-won’t they, sexual tension on high story will delight your heart and steam your socks off. Garrett and Sadie are the perfect polar opposites. He is sunshine & giggles and she is pessimism and snark, put them together and they blend to a sensational savoury sauce. Pining from afar mixed with forced proximity means things are bound to combust. And boy, did they ever blow! Trapped alone in a frozen firehouse with only bed, what could possibly go wrong? Perhaps we should try to leave into the wet, cold storm… oh, but now our clothes are wet and torn, what’s left to do but remove them! Naturally, the firehouse does not seem so cold now… things are heating up, on and off the page. The story continues full steam ahead while these two battle the elements, their own doubts and self-esteem issues and the inevitable relief of the storm. Can their passion survive the thawing of the snow? This is a romance novel, HEA guaranteed, so you tell me. I am so excited to read more from Ginny B. Moore because this was the perfect winter warmer to while away the hours. (And yes, I took the time to find alluring alliterations to add to this review in Sadie’s honor.😉)

This is the little big tale you never knew you needed until you read it!

Ginny B Moore has done it again - grandiose in its simplicity this novella is exquisite!
A cinnamon roll hero to die for and a heroine so determined she can’t imagine any man ever choosing her. It’s funny and fast, endearing and heartwrenchingly vulnerable, scrumptiously steamy, wonderfully romantic and just so beautifully written!
It sizzles and sparks, and it’s exactly what you need on a cold winter’s day!

He loves her, but believes he’s not worthy as a self-made Scot has no right to claim an Upper West Side society girl. Not even when she’s given it all up to become a suffragette. But she’s adorably prickly, and she’s quick, and she has a way of leaving him clumsy and tongue-tied, and he just can’t stay away…
She loves him, but he will never see her that way. How could he when even her own family was all too happy to forget about her? In any case, she doesn’t need a man, she doesn’t need anybody - she can take care of herself! But he’s so charming, and clever, and built like a lumberjack, and haunting her lonely nights… If only he would stop hovering about!
Stranded together in a snowstorm and not enough firewood. Hazardous ice capades, a little liquid courage and a lot of bickering lands them snug in the only bed available. Uncomfortable truths and secret desires are spoken. Wishes are granted... but is it real? Or will their bubble burst when the ice melts?

Spicy, giggle-worthy, wonderful banter

Ginny Moore was a new-to-me author but no more! I’m now a fan and will definitely be reading more from her!
This novella (only about 100 pages) was spiiicy with low angst and giggle-worthy banter and lots and lots of snow and ice (cue outside porch caked in ice scene (lol))!I loved Garrett and Sarah together, their energy just crackled from the very beginning. I won’t spoil for you but 🔥🔥❄️❄️🥰♥️!!
Because this is a short read, the resolution doesn’t take long to come into focus but there a few twists and bumps and an ice storm along the way and even though it is a short read I didn’t feel like the plot was rushed and it was a fully realized story.
I’m so excited to read more from Ginny and will be adding her to my author must read list!!
Do yourself a big favor and get this book, you will not be sorry!!
Brava Ginny!! Brava!! ♥️📖📚❄️🌨

No matter how mature we think we are, there’s always some remnant of our upbringing lurking in the background.

Sadie finds herself believing incorrectly about what others are thinking-especially Garrett. He has his own misconceptions to deal with. Luckily for us, they manage to deal with all that one night during a snowstorm. He later chastises himself for not being brave enough to talk about his feelings. She realizes how she had distanced herself from everyone.

It’s good to read about a couple who manage to rise above their weaknesses and reach out to grab some happiness and discover all that love truly is.

Wonderful time period novella. I'm a total historical romance nerd. I love this books. The author did a great job giving us history of this time period. It's a historical step into the woman's suffragette movement and giving us the idea that our fc had her freedom and a happy relationship to the man she was pining over for several months. He equally felt the same for her but he was intimidated because of her beliefs and philosophy of the future of woman. They had excellent chemistry and I really liked the historical pieces that was wove in. The first book I have ever read with the mention of condoms in the early days. Very interesting.

This fun, cosy little novella has some of my favourite tropes: forced proximity, snowed in, mutual pining, grumpy/sunshine. There's no angst or conflict and it's short enough to easily read in one sitting.

Technically Sadie is Garrett's secretary but as he is such a sweet cinnamon roll who is head over heels in love with her, it really doesn't feel like he's her boss. I loved reading about how they had been both pining for one another, and how getting snowed in forced them to finally admit it.

This novella is part of the Flower Sisters series and includes appearances from Rose and Ben of A Rose in Brooklyn. However I've not read any of the series but I still loved this. I definitely want to go and read them now though!

I loved this so much! The author manages to put so much heart into this novella.

Garrett and Sadie are in love... but they both think it's one-sided, which has led to much mutual pining. They are both working towards women's suffrage, and one evening, while printing pamphlets, they get snowed in together.

While snowed in, they eat cheese, enjoy some sexy times, and discover that maybe their feelings aren't so one-sided after all. As someone who loves a grand gesture,  there is also a pretty awesome one of those! 😉

Bonus points for getting to see Ben and Rose!

This novella left me feeling warm and fuzzy (and also gave me a craving for cheese 🧀)

This comes out on January 1st! Start the year off right by picking this one up!

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

🌶️ It's spicy
Ginny B. Moore’s Historical Romance novella, Snowbound with the Suffragette, was enchanting and fiery. This is a grumpy (her)vs. sunshine (him) forced proximity romance with some miscommunications that come unraveled revealing mutual admiration and affection. I really enjoyed it and I highly encourage you to give it a go. It's less than 100 pages, what have you got to lose?

I absolutely loved this novella from Ginny B. Moore! Garrett and Sadie are working together for the cause, but can’t help themselves to save their lives. Both have feelings for the other but try and hide their attraction because through miscommunication and misunderstanding, they each believe the other is indifferent to anything more than being friends and associates.

When icy conditions force the two to spend the night together in the cold office, sparks fly. Garrett is the ultimate caretaker, making sure Sadie is made warm, fed cheese, and taken care of. They are absolute fire together, and a lovely grand gesture at the end ensures the couple will be happy together for a long time.

A fast, spicy, utterly fulfilling, and delightful read—I cannot recommend it enough!

Snowbound with the Suffragette by Ginny B. Moore is a historical Brooklyn-set winter-story that features characters from A Rose Blooms in Brooklyn (The Flower sisters series), but is absolutely enjoyable as a stand-alone. It is a short and steamy forced proximity (snowed-in) novella-length romance.

Garrett McInness, a self-made man and a real cinnamon roll hero, has been pining after his not-secretary Sarah Wilton for quite some time. Sadie, the former Upper West Side girl and now a woman’s rights activist he is working with, is an independent and determined woman. She is also a spitfire with a sharp tongue, who cannot stop thinking about Garrett. Both clearly have feelings for each other and the tension between them is palpable, but they try their very best to hide it as both believe the other to be indifferent. One evening, while printing pamphlets, a snowstorm unexpectedly strikes and they get trapped in an old firehouse…alone…in their undergarments. Being forced together they create their own little bubble and discover that their feelings aren’t so one-sided after all. But will it all melt away with the snow and ice?

It is the perfect company for a cold winter day – a fast and spicy read that warms you up inside (it also makes you yearn for a fireplace and some cheese and think about lumberjacks). The plot itself is not maybe terribly original (snowed in during a storm), but never fear, there is plenty to love about it. No earls, dukes, blushing debutantes or high society rules in this one – it is a story about working class heroes, which is really refreshing. The story features everything from adorable to sexy. Both, the hero and heroine, are very likable – charming, clever and intelligent. It is a short and sweet story packed with humor and banter that makes you smile, a lot of steam and spice, but also deep emotions and real romance. All in all it was a good read and I absolutely enjoyed it.

This fun to read novella is set in Brooklyn, New York in 1903.

Sadie Wilton is a potty mouthed suffragette belongs to a wealthy family who she doesn’t see anymore as they are disappointed that she has gone in a different direction to her sisters, who got married and settled down. Sadie is passionate about women’s rights and prints leaflets for the Suffragette Society. She is also passionate for Garrett.

Garrett MacInness used to work on Wall Street, making rich people even richer. When the hours at his paying job began taking away his time at his unpaid work at the Suffragette Society, he quit Wall Street so he can spend more time with Sadie, who he thinks he loves.

Neither of them are aware of the feelings of the other. When a snowstorm hits while the two are working late one evening, they are forced to stay together in the small office until the snow will allow them to get home safely.
There’s not much in the way of firewood or coal to keep them warm from the fire, but a small bed and blankets get their temperatures rising! There’s plenty of steamy scenes while they are snowed in, but when the snow thaws, will their relationship too? Sadie wants more, Garrett wants more, but can they tell each other how they really feel when they don’t know how the other feels about them.

I really enjoyed reading this book. There’s great banter between Garrett and Sadie which is so fun to read especially when she’s a grump and he’s the sunshine!
It’s great to see Ben and Rose from the previous book making an appearance in this book, otherwise it is just the two lovebirds throughout the rest of the story.
It’s a fantastic short, steamy read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys steamy reading and a fun storyline.

Garrett, a side character from book two gets his love story with a suffragette and they’ve both been crushing hard on one another for a while.

A quick and steamy story of forced proximity for two people who needed to be kept locked in a room to sort out their feelings. Character driven plot that picks up in the middle of a misunderstanding trope. It worked well and there was enough character development that it created tension between them.

Perfect for when you need a steamy pick me up.

Snowbound with the Suffragette is a novella and 2.5 in The Flower Girls series. It could be read as a standalone but has more context if read after book 2.

There are three encounters and read as higher steam with the shorter page count.

Y’all Ginny made my dreams come true with this novella! When I read A Rose Blooms in Brooklyn, I basically begged her to write Garrett his own little story, and she did!

Garrett, has wit, quips, a big heart, and an old soul. He stole my heart in A Rose Blooms in Brooklyn and I’m so happy he gets his moment.

Sadie is a taciturn, independent, caring, suffragette, that works with Garrett at a Suffrage society.

Their tension is palpable but due to a small little miscommunication, neither thinks the other likes the other.

Well, a big storm rolls through and they’re snowed in. And will you believe, the only heat in the place is in a small room, with only one bed? I mean, what shenanigans could these two possibly get up to?! Well, all I’ll say is, it may be cold outside, but it’s nice and toasty warm inside.

This novella has everything you could want, intelligent characters, banter, communication, consent, spicy times, and heart felt conversations.

I can’t recommend it enough, thank you, thank you, thank you, Ginny for making my Garrett dreams come true — you truly surpassed my expectations (in the best way possible).

Tropes: workplace romance, grumpyxsunshine, class differences, forced proximity, friends-to-lovers, only one bed, caretaking, independent FMC, Feminist FMC and MMC, cinnamon roll MMC, snowed in.

Steam Level: High

What a sweet, steamy, precious little gem of a novella! Take some fun, add a little pining on both parts and a generous helping of delicious lovemaking and you’ll get the perfect read to warm a cold winter afternoon. I love these Brooklyn-set historical novels so much, especially when I want a respite from the usual dukes and nobles and ballrooms and house parties. Yes to a working class hero and a suffragette every day! Moore is an astounding writer and each book is better than the previous one!

This was a sweet novella; Garrett & Sadie were a perfect couple. The story is set during the suffragette movement and the author masterfully intertwines romance and historical fiction, creating a rich tapestry of love, resilience, and empowerment. The characters are well-developed, with the protagonist’s journey towards self-discovery being particularly compelling. The narrative is beautifully paced, with the snowbound setting adding a layer of intensity to the unfolding drama. This book is a must-read for those who enjoy historical romance with a touch of social commentary.
