STARSTRUCK: The most SHOCKING child abuse true story you'll EVER read!

Rate this book
Hi there, my name is Joey. Today I’m just another thirty-something-year-old guy, living the suburban dream in southern California. But there’s something my neighbours don’t know about me. Something you’d never guess about me. Something, that up until these past couple of weeks, I’d never dream about telling you. Something you wouldn’t believe.

I was, in the most horrific of manners, and by the most unlikely of people, sexually abused as a child.

Not shocked? Well, wait until you hear the full story…

WARNING: This book is based upon a true story of child abuse, and as such contains passages that some readers may find disturbing.

Misleading Title

While I will not belittle the author his child abuse experience, the title of this book is definitely misleading. It was written in a conversation between his therapist and him which was easy to follow but definitely not considered the most SHOCKING child abuse true story told.

Could not put this book down

It is hard to believe this actually happened from a readers point of view. I couldn't imagine what must have been going through your young mind. The whole ring of abuse one innocent wish threw you into. An innocent young child. So many adults letting you down. And in the end adults building you up (police and family) hugs

An ok read for a rainy day.

While the title sounds good the story is hard to believe. I do believe Joey was sexually abused. The emotions he expressed are real and true. I have experienced these same feelings as I counsel victims. The rest of the story seems very out there. If this "ring of pedophiles" was so big why did we hear nothing about.
Also it was tough reading a transcript of counseling sessions. The editing was very poor and clearly spell check was not used. Glad I did not buy it!

I would tell anyone else that they should read it. There are better stories to spend time reading. Bring them on.

Interesting to say the least..

I don't ever remember hearing about this, but it says based on a true story. I read it completely in on night and no I'm not a speed reader. I felt for him in his time of need and I think he put his experience in to words the best he could. It's a good book, and you'll enjoy it.

Didn't want to put it down!

It actually wasn't even close to being the Most Shocking Child Abuse story. I was just so grateful that it wasn't. I really enjoyed this book and I just couldn't put it down. It was written so differently and was a nice change! I'm happy there was a happy ending. At times, I thought it was not going to be.

STARSTRUCK

Too many emotions to pinpoint in a quick review. This kept my attention the whole way through. This would be a hard read for any mother. I hope that in sharing this story it helped with his recovery.

Not as interesting as it looks, but sad.

Many typos but I am a proofreader, also thought it would more interesting. Doctor's feedback boring. Kind of weird. Sad for the child, but not as bad as some are,he was fortunate to have the help he had.

Sad, yet, inspiring

I enjoyed reading this book. Sad to know that there are people out there that take advantage of children. I am happy the author's experience ended on a good note, most victims don't live to tell their stories.

Well . . .

I'm giving the book two stars, not only because it's was poorly written and obviously not edited, but it dragged on.
Yeah, I felt sorry for Joey, but the story just didn't ring true the way it was told.

Blank Stare.

Some parts of the book didn't seem real to me. It feel like he was making it up as he went on. Specially the part about the doctor not believing him an The lights going out and Terry coming in to scare him.

Heartbreaking

This was a page turner for me. Up until the author got help, it quickly became one of those stories I love to hate lol. I couldn't stop reading it, but couldn't handle the turmoil of it at the same time.

Made up story

This story if true is straight out of a cheap crime novel. It's so hard to believe any of it. I'm not sure why anyone would want to make up a story like this. It's just so bad. If I'm wrong , then I'm sorry for this kid. But I just don't believe it.

Terrible

This book is awful. It claims to be a true story, but the events and timeline make that difficult to believe. And the writing style is awful. Don't waste your time.

Although some of the reviews give this a bad time - I thought it was very good. Would say it wasn't a serious assault but an assault all the same!!!

Wow

Well written. The author tells of his experience as a child, without living in the past. I'm glad he has been able to cope with what happened to him a at such a young age.

What a brave move to write this story of trust leading to mistrust.
My heart goes out to this young man and I hope he is finally at peace with his demons.
