Sarah Pearson has returned home. Back to the place it all started for her. There… the darkness waits, intending to use her to usher in the End of Days.
And it succeeds.
While the world falls into chaos and the dead start to walk the earth, David Ritter, Reverend Quinn, and Ralph Cobin face a race against time to pull the world back from the brink. If they fail, Hell will consume everything, and the souls of everyone that ever lived will be forfeit.
Of course, other genres float my boat as well; Sci-Fi, Thrillers, pretty much any Dark Fiction, but Horror is what I call home.
My first novel, Horror in the Woods, was released on in May 2017, and the second, The Demonic, on the the following July hitting multiple best seller lists. Since then, I have authored a number of horror novels that have terrified fans for the past few years.

Well, the 'Haunted' series really did end with a bang, the loudest and most destructive one in human history. Perron Manor was, once again, at the centre of cosmic events as the everlasting battle between good and evil reached its final conclusion. Hell had invaded Heaven, the events predicted in the Book of Revelations had come to pass. The dead walked the Earth and millions were about to perish in the final battle. The established Church was proving impotent in the face of evil and so just who would save humanity? This was a full-on blood and guts story, a grisly but compulsive page turner and a damn good read to boot.
What a ride! What an end to an amazing series. Nine books later and this series is finished. Incredibly well written and needs to be made into a Netflix series IMMEDIATELY! Good going, Lee Mountford. Loved every second of this ride!
A great ending to a great series. Even though we ended up in the same house from the first book, we were in a far different place. The story exploded into insanity. And it was a great roller-coaster ride.
Complaints: Very few. Mainly, I wanted more. This story was told on a larger, worldwide scale. But our main characters didn't move around a lot. They went right to Perron Manor and fought the final battle there. I would loved to have seen a break in the action midway through the book. Maybe some running around chasing leads, etc... The book does fine without all that, but for something called "End of Days," I would have liked it to have more going on. For example, we get a cameo near the beginning that includes some of the previous ghost hunters. Ralph rejoins the team, but the rest are just done. I would have liked the book to include their perspective on the events unfolding.
Minor quibble: the series has always had its "icky" moments. This book was full of them. There were a lot of disturbing scenes of people ripping their bodies apart. It was absolutely disturbing, but I think Mountford is skilled enough that he could have produced the same effect on the reader without all the eyeballs.
Applause: 1. Sarah stays possessed for the majority of the book. As a result, we don't get to see much of her real personality. That was great. By the end of the series, I hated Sarah. She was a whiny, self-entitled brat. If she had just listened to people who were smarter than her, the end of the world wouldn't have come so fast. So I was pleased not to have to be in her head and not to have to see her being rude and selfish toward the other characters. I mean, she was. But she was possessed, so you expect it. 2. It is fast-paced. And once it gets going, it's non-stop. I read it in 24 hours because it was hard to put down. 3. The "rules" of this world remained consistent. The Good Guys didn't have to pull some new knowledge out of their butts to save the world. They just used the knowledge that they'd learned in previous books. 4. I loved that we got to see that the cat was completely out of the bag and the whole world saw what was happening. I feared that the "end of days" part of it would only impact the main characters. I enjoyed the chapters that introduced new characters around the world (and, in most cases, killed them off).
After spending the last two years on a lot of horror, I'm kind of burned out on it. I'm ready to shift my focus elsewhere. But even still, I grabbed this book as soon as I saw that it was out. And, as I said, tore through it quickly.
A great way to finish my Year in Books!

wish I truly wish I could give this book more then 5 stars, this was masterful, Stephen King eat your heart out. lol this series in particular this book is gutrenching in the worst most beautiful way, and I loved it! While I try to pick my heart and soul off the floor and continue with my mundane existence, I will always remember how this Author has brought to life the existence of these characters that just grow on you if you love them or not, and you just have to know what happened next. I always looked forward to the next book even if my schedule didnt aloud me to finish it when I should have, apologies to the author. I Loved this book so much. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.
I wish I could read this entire series again for the first time. It was so terrifying in some spots, but I loved it all. I couldn’t think of a better way for this series to end. I even cried a little 😂
I’m very happy I finished the series. There were a couple books I was more critical of, but Mountford knows how to write ‘the end of the world.’
A fun, enjoyable read with more than enough gory detail.
Huge fan of how the damage is done. How seeing The Devil brings agony and then the desire to rip your eyes from your sockets so you can stop seeing it, and when the vision is burned into your brain, mass suicides. That’s brilliant and very haunting stuff. Cheers to the Haunted series!

Was there any doubt that Mountford would end his already fantastic Haunted series on such a high note? After 5+ years of following him and reading pretty much everything he’s written, that answer should be an unsurprising no.
What is surprising, however, is just how damn awesome and nearly perfect the conclusion to this 9 book series ended up being.
Obviously any book or batch of stories about demons is going to be dark, and the Haunted books have been no exception, but my God, End of Days takes the cake on being one of the most bleak and dark novels I’ve read in a long time. For nearly all of its 290 pages, this story is pitch black in its plot and the events that occur. From plucked out eyeballs and helicopter crashes, from spinning vortexes of doom to an almost Lovecraftian and eldritch sense of inescapable doom, Haunted: End of Days s hands down Mountford’s crowing achievement in non stop desolation, creeping dread, and absolute devastation.
And that’s not even mentioning how creative this book was. Many authors have tried the haunted house genre, as well as demons/possession, however I don’t think anyone has been so successful in melding the 2 together in such an original (and yes, spooky) way. Mountford makes BOTH of these aspects scary and makes both of them work damn near seamlessly.
I know this kind of horror won’t be for anyone (my mom probably would throw holy water on my kindle and pray for salvation if she read this or even knew it was something I enjoyed so much), however if you’re a fan of books about things that go bump in the night AND the armies of Satan taking over the planet, then you need to do yourself a favor and read this entire series ASAP.
What a way to end an awesome series. I was disgusted. I was actually freaked out reading this alone at night. I was sad. The author made me care about side characters introduced in this book and their torment. Then seeing old friends throughout the 9 books fight to survive and save humanity…just the perfect way to send it off. Also, if eyeball stuff grosses you out as much as it does me, this is chock full of it as a warning. 👀
A brutal and epic finale that brought everything together beautifully. I loved how all the threads connected here—it made the entire journey feel purposeful. The horror is as relentless as ever, but it’s the way Mountford tied together atmosphere, story, and sheer brutality that made this such a satisfying conclusion. A good ending to a series that never once let me down. Loved going on this journey with the characters.
What an OUTSTANDING ending to this series! I have never enjoyed reading a series as much as I have this one! This book had me on the edge of my seat to the very end!! They definitely need to make these books into a Netflix series!!
I have spent almost an entire month in the pages of this world Lee Montford created and now that I have finished the last book in the series, I feel almost as if I'm saying goodbye to dear friends that I am scared ill never see again. Is that weird? Nah.. were all readers here.
But since this is the last book in this series and I quite literally dedicated the entire month of May 2025 to this series, I feel like it deserves a well written review and not just of this particular book, but of the series in general. But first lets discuss the book. And I will add a warning, there is no way to talk about this book without giving away some spoilers, so If you've not read this one yet 1- what are you playing at.. you've more than likely read at least a few of the other 8, so read this one! and 2- don't ruin the ending by reading the ending of the series by reading a spoiler review.
End of Days wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. I like to think I was invested enough in this series that I kinda had an idea of what was going to happen in the story of each book. David, Sarah, and whoever else was going to come in - demons and evil was going to mess everything up and play with our emotions - people were going to be standing naked and posessed - and at the end of it all our random group of heroes were going to conquer evil. I was like 30% right. End Of Days had some looks at the "evil" and Hell's takeover from multiple perspectives, which was refreshing yes! but also pulled away from the overall story for me. Was it neat to see how it was effecting people? yes! But I didn't need multiple chapters telling me about different people from different parts of the world looking at the Evil and having their minds snap. I feel like I wanted more from David, Sarah, Rachel, Ralph and even from Evil Chloe ( EC as I called her when describing her to people ) and the rest of The Order's minions. I was expecting more of Marcus Blackwater since we were back at Perron Manor. I was even expecting more of the weird uncle! but they are briefly brought up towards the end and that's all. There is absolutely no closure with any of their story lines and that was kind of a let down. There was no mention of specific spirits that died in the house that I expected to hear a little about, and there was definitely not enough focus on David and the crew + Sarah's time posessed. In a way I felt a little let down that we built up to this huge thing where Hell is taking over, the key is in place, and David has grown into this bad ass of a man who fights demons and has an amazing crew backing him while he is fighting for his friend's soul. Sarah has lost literally everything and has given into the darkness and that was also a built up over 8 books. And my precious Father Janoch WHY DIDNT WE GET ANYTHING FROM HIM?! The ending is very... meh. And trust me I do not say that lightly.
Now moving onto the ending its self - this definitely has the spoilers in it FYI.
There was apart of me ( a very large part ) that wanted Sarah to make it though everything & live through all of this. Throughtout the entire series she has already lost so much and been through so much even in a horror series there has to be some type of happy ending, right? Nope. Sarah gives her life to stop the Evil & The order and of course it isnt quick and painless. She lost her friends, she was torture by demons, she was forced to be a puzzle piece and she lost everyone and everything she cared about. She was headstrong and bull-headed yes, but throughout the story you figure out that she genuinely cared for others so much and even with losing her sister she still continued to fight. I figured we would lose Sarah but I wished I was wrong. But at least she got to be with her family in the end and maybe find some happiness after ALL the horror she has endured.
But Ralph? HOW DARE YOU LEE! HOW. DARE. YOU. Ralph did not deserve that.
Im happy David found Rachel and we saw him turn his "hobby" into something that he feels is his purpose. I really have no complaints on David's story.
Overall there was some parts of the series that drove me mad. I felt like I got WAY to attached and expected more in certain parts but obviously I enjoyed the series enough to dedicate an entire month to it. I have read 12 of Lee Mountfords books now and can say without a doubt, he is probably one of the easiest authors to read and enjoy. There isn't a book that didn't keep my attention which is saying something after 12 books lol I thoroughly enjoyed this journey with Sarah Pearson & David Ritter leading the charge and would highly recommend to any horror reader.
I love the author and his writing. However, for this book as the end of the whole series, it did not sate my reading. Particularly, 1) The series was dragging and there were many similar motifs. In fact, after reading this book, I felt like it was anti-climatic in the sense that "can we already forecast the end"? For example, common sense tells us that light always wins darkness. Of course sometimes darkness is just so... dark that light is obliterated, but would any author dare to end a whole series with "evil wins in the end"? Of course not! Then, you already have the answer. Further, for all the exorcism activities (and I believe we should "exorcise" this David's internal thoughts, just too much of them), they were just repetitive to the extent of boredom. 2) If the author does read this comment, I hope he will strategically decide better how to end a series. This book can be the penultimate version (and some previous books should be condensed). In this way, this penultimate version could be an absolute hopelessness, a knot (rather than a cliffhanger) before the true final book which holds the (smart) answer that everyone yearns to know. 3) I felt like when the series is too long, the writing power of Lee was weakened. For authorship, certainly sales is prioritised, but I just hope the author could balance it in the future. I remember distinctly ALL other stand-alone books from Lee took my breath (and heart) away with those tension and character building. In this final book of the series, everything was already known and even though the tension WAS THERE, I felt it was boring (sorry Lee). 4) There are certain insensible details. For example, . I found it unbelievable because everything was "rushed". This is the result of a prolonged series. I hope the author should contemplate in the future to build better series. 5) The author also took full advantage of the gore and horror details in this book. Yet, since everything was "rushed", I feel like the author did that for the sake of doing that (because all other books, be it series or not series, did that). Therefore, when I read those descriptions, I did not feel the true horror, hopelessness, and insidiousness. I felt like the ambience did not engage the readers. Instead, it was thrown there for the sake of description. If the book was written a bit longer and the inner thoughts of each character were built more carefully, perhaps this book would be much more worthy as the final book of a good series. 6) The hook of the series (for the first few books) was the mystery, symbol, purpose of the (d)evils in the house. Such mysteriousness indulged the readers to keep reading to know more, feel more, imagine more. After the sixth book (a very very good one which introduced us to the idea that there are other higher beings of the light), things started to go downhill. For example, we only saw Chloe was another "light being" whereas we saw all types of ghosts and demons. Where are other "light beings"? Further, what is the point of book seven when book eight is the reason for book nine? Most importantly, That is, the author was building an excellent battle but did not let the battle "live" long enough to be called a "battle". I saw a lack of scale and severity of a situation. It is like being told "this thing is serious" rather than let us be "drowned" in the situation itself to "feel the gravity". All in all, this book is a must read (ha ha, because it is the end of a good series). However, I hope the author will balance the strategy of publication. Otherwise, the quality of writing would be reduced to meet those deadlines. I give four stars because I like the author and other (first few) books. I also think the author writes stand-alone books better than a series (I am implying the Darkfall).
I almost reflexively give Lee’s books 5 stars because he is a BRILLIANT writer. There’s nobody I’d rather read. That being said, this eagerly-anticipated book was probably a little more like 4.5 & I rounded up. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, & was actually sad to start this book knowing the storyline was coming to an end. Of course, I still devoured it in under 3 hours, & for the most part, enjoyed the resolution. It did feel at times like the book dragged a bit, & I don’t care if I never read another description of someone scooping out their eyeballs, peeling off their cheeks, yanking out their intestines. It got a bit repetitive. (And btw, the final few chapters were redundant, too, as David & Andrew kept futilely charging at Sarah. Find a new strategy!) I though Rachel was a hot mess at the end, and every time we got an update on her, she’s in the basement feeling defeated. Every time!!? She sort of annoyed me up until she came up with the brilliant idea to bless the water, create holy water, & exorcise Chloe. That was brilliant. And I loved how Chloe was angelic in guiding & saving Sarah. Thought it was bold of Lee to kill Sarah off. Huge plot move. I DIDN’T like the ending for David & Rachel. At all. The stupid ring at the end was cheesy, & I never really bought them as a believable romantic pairing. (Maybe because in my head, I kept picturing her as SNL alum Rachel Dratch. *ROFLMAO*)
Anyway, just one further observation…when Rachel kept praying in the basement & wondering why it wasn’t working… I actually thought it was going to be because the Lord’s Prayer states “on earth as it is in Heaven.” But since heaven was seemingly up for grabs at that point, I thought the prayer meant earth was mimicking the chaos in Heaven. JMHO, but that would have made it much clearer on why it wasn’t working. At least for me. But again, Lee’s work is wonderful , & I will continue to relish & recommend all his works.

After reading Haunted: Catacombs, I was elated to read this book. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the direction the author took. The plot starts very slow and only picks up marginally as we approach the end. Unfortunately, I didn't pick up on anything eerie or uncanny. Don't get me wrong, the setting is certainly loud and destructive as "the end of days" approaches but personally, it didn't provoke me in any way. For example, the sky is red and it's very noisy. Additionally, you have a giant eye that covers most of the sky. Frankly, it reminded me of the kid series Yu-Gi-Oh season 4. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the author got the idea. The devil is even referenced as a "leviathan". Hence, that's exactly what the main monster in Yu-Gi-Oh was referenced as, "The Great Leviathon". Furthermore, in Yugioh, you have monsters coming out of the sky with a big vortex. It just sounds too familiar. The plot starts almost immediately from the previous book. After all the characters finally make it inside Perron Mannor, which takes about half the book, the more dire aspects of the plot begin. Certainly some scintillating plot points but overall, there wasn't a lot going on to keep me extremely engaged. For the most part, the characters were inside a salt seal for literally most of the plot while demons and spirits just stand there waiting. After some interesting turn of events, the protagonist was able to stop "the end of days". I was hoping for a more riveting approach in which they methodically stopped the evil but it never came; they just got lucky. I did not appreciate Andrew and Emma's characters. Frankly, I wish they would not have been in the story to begin with. I found Andrew's character frustrating, foolish, and useless. His character added no value to the plot other than trying to get his daughter back. Emma was useless and was simply used as a bargaining chip. I also didn't appreciate how the devil was characterized to be this giant monster in the sky. It just didn't seem prudent. The churche's involvement in the plot and contributions to the resolve were nothing. Hence, not sure why the author bothered to mention the pope to begin with. Overall, this book was a solid page turner. It had me in suspense for a good bit toward the end, making me wonder how the characters were going to make it out alive. For a minute, it seemed as if the evil had already won. However, it felt rushed and the descriptions of the gore and violence were thrown in for sake of desrcitpion and nothing more. Out of the HAUNTED SERIES, this is the final book. The Catacombs was second to last. I was right to start with Catacombs and end it here. I'll be reading The Demonic next.
This is the final book in the Haunted series, and OMG, what a fantastic book. Sarah Pearson has returned home to Perron Manor, where it all began. Back to the place, it all started for her and her sister Chloe. There …. the evil awaits to turn her over to the darkness eagerly biding its time, so they can bring on the End of Days and it succeeds. Ghosts, demons, possession of the human race, which drives people mad and makes them self-mutilate themselves in stomach-churning scenes …. Bloody hell, yes, lots of blood and gore. Even I had to put the book down, whilst I was gagging, lol.
Ghosts walking the earth, hell bent on revenge. All the while David Ritter, Reverend Quinn, and Ralph Cobin face a race against time to pull the world back from the brink of hell. If they don’t succeed, the souls of everyone will fall back to earth tormented forever horrifically.
The author managed to make me have an increased heart rate due to the tension of anticipation of what was going to happen whilst reading it. Not many authors have managed to have this effect on me, especially when people were torn apart in the most horrific manner, unimaginable so shockingly gross yuck and arghhhh running away now.!!!! Oh no, have I just read that ….. your joking!! If you are squeamish about tongues don’t read this. It even had me gagging, lol.
Will Sarah survive Perron Manor? Read to find out I dare you!!!
The build-up towards a horrific and terrifyingly heart-stopping climax of the ending of the series, which was fantastically written. So saddened this series is done forever, but who knows. What an amazingly beautiful ending it was, boo hoo!!!
Roll on to the next series by this author. Patiently waiting tapping fingers!!!
FORMAT: EBOOK via Kindle Rating: 10000/10! Off the Charts
This final installment of the Haunted Series had me on eggshells and on the edge of my seat! It was explosive! But the main aspect that made the story so scary was that it felt so real. Mountford’s usage of different perspectives of various characters and how they were feeling at the time of the apocalypse added an extra layer of anxiousness and scariness to this book, for me as the reader. He went into deep detail about how these characters were feeling, what they were doing within that moment, and how it was affecting them. That’s some straight Picasso-author type shit, because I was frightened to the core. The poor man that he talked about who was lost in the Aokigahara, that had fled there to end his life, was so sad to me. And the older lady who decided to hide in her cupboard to escape the entities that were plaguing her small village. I felt for both of them so badly.
My thoughts on this book was that Sarah paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to save humanity. It connects to the Holy Bible because Jesus Christ died for all of humanity’s sins. I really did like the religious undertones of this series because it brought about emotions and questions that most people ask on the regular. What’s on the other side after you die? Are Heaven and Hell real? How do you know God speaks to you? In response to all of these burning questions, Mountford exhibited it beautifully in this book. I took away from this book that despite it seeming all bad, don’t stop trusting in God. Like Sarah was literally combating the darkness and the light so hard. But she did not back down, and held firm.
This was a great series! Loved the ending!

Going through this book, I wasn't sure if I liked the direction the series was taking. Thankfully, the ending left me with a smile, and that's all you can ask for with a 9 book series.
I was angry at the fates of certain characters, but I see that as a good thing. Mountford has created characters that I loved and cared about, which can be hard to do. Narratively, it wasn't done carelessly out without meaning.
The Haunted series as a whole was brilliant, and I fully recommend reading them all. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books by Lee Mountford going forward.
A blood ritual is performed to reopen the portal at Perron Manor. All hell breaks loose as other portals in the world are also opened. Demonic entities are on a rampage against humanity. Meanwhile, Sarah has kidnapped Emma and taken her to Perron Manor at the behest of Chloe's spirit. Will David and his team be able to save Sarah or are they all doomed? I was captivated by this gut churning story where you are transported to a world of unspeakable nightmarish horrors.
The dichotomy of this marvelous series is finally brought to an end after 9 books bringing together moments of pure terror, eerie horrors, friendship, faith, willingness and determination to fight for what is right. At last, the puzzle is now complete and everything is where it needs to be.
To my amazement, I haven’t had a single moment of boredom while reading them all. A truly fascinating work by Lee Mountford.
The collection is a masterpiece, I was so deep into it I was in awe of the “power it held over me”. Probably something to do with the ghosts and spirits in the books. 👻
Lee Mountford is an amazing writer, his 9th book and end of series, Sarah is the key the Anchor that can finally open the gates of hell, returning from Paris kidnapping her dead sisters child returning to Perron Manor it grips you from the start you need to know has she been turned will she harm her niece brilliantly written yet again series would be a great film
WOW!!! What an amazingly crazy ride to an incredible series. I didn’t want to put this book down trying to anticipate how it could end. Lee Mountford did an amazing job. Although I am bummed that I will not be able to read what’s next for the Perron Manor family, I am excited to read some of Mr. Mountford’s other books. Highly recommend this entire series to any suspense thriller/horror fans out there.
I completed all the books and am glad I did. These books make you think about what's going on today and wonder if some individuals are possessed by demons. I highly recommend reading all the books in this series. Lee is an outstanding author and really did all the books justice. Lee if you should read this review, will you be making this into a mini-series, if so I am definitely going to watch it. Right now I'm reading prequel to the books. So far it's great.
A great great ending to the series. I loved that it didn't focus just on the main characters, and the chapters switched to other parts of the world and random people experiencing the chaos. My only complaint is it was pretty repetitive. I loved the idea of the mass suicide, but oh, BOY the amount of eyeballs and skin ripping. I get it was after what they saw, but it was a little overdone being the same descriptions. Ralph shattered my heart but was happy Luca got the peace he deserved!

OMG we are so back!!!!! I like that we ended things where we started… Perron Manor. I loved this series and its characters. End of days was haunting, chilling, fast paced, heartbreaking, anxiety fueled, sad and hopeful all at the same time. A beautiful and worthy end to the haunted series. What a banger, Mr Mountford! We had closure, callbacks to earlier scenes, heartstrings pulled and tears shed. I love you Father Janosch. His character was such a gift. I’ll miss them all.
Absolutely thrilling! Perfect ending for the series. Never had a horror novel make me cry before!
It's the final battle! Good vs evil! Sarah has been turned to the darkness and is at Perron Manor with her niece Emma and sadly a turned Chloe. David,Rachel, Ralph and Andrew race to Perron Manor to try and stop the world from ending! Can they stop it with all the doorways open and vortex's swirling over each doorway? Will they survive?
I've been putting off finishing this series. I've loved almost all the books and they have definitely given me the creeps. This one didn't do that unfortunately.
I was bored with quite a bit of it and I felt like there could've been more variety in the gore. I get the eye thing but it felt like every other sentence had someone gouging out their eyes and the fluids coming out.
It ended nicely though and I really think overall the series was great.
