Hello, fellow book lovers! Today, I have the second release in the Cass Callahan series.

Chris Mullen has given us a great series featuring Cass & Raven Callahan. Book one explained that Cass and his wife Raven had moved to a small west Texas town where he had inherited a large ranch. Cass felt the room might give Raven time to recover from the attack and attempted rape. Not long after they got there, Cass found a dead body, and through the investigation, he agreed to work part-time with the local sheriff. Now, here we are in Book Two, 'Kill Order.' Cass and Raven's son, Stephen, is home for a visit, and both are ecstatic. Stephen becomes gobsmacked with Caroline, a local girl working at the DQ. Her previous boyfriend, Lance, goads him into a crazy deal of proving that he was not a pantywaist. Big mistake! They end up crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico, jumping across the small canyons when they happen on a mysterious man, who ends up killing Lance. Stephen hurts his ankle in an attempt to get away from the crazy man. Not only is Stephen on the run, but his parents are involved in their own turmoil in addition to their worry over where Stephen is. This book is a thrilling ride from start to finish, with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well-developed and realistic, with flaws and strengths that make them relatable. The setting is vividly described, making you feel like you are in the middle of the action. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, with suspense, mystery, and light romance. If you are looking for a book that will keep you entertained and hooked, then you should definitely check out 'Kill Order.' You won't regret it!

Kill Order continues the story of the CR Ranch and the callahans. It is packed with action and thriller suspense from the start. The CR is bordered to the south by the Rio Grande river and Mexico. The Callahan's and the Sheriff's department are being targeted by a Mexican cartel since they found a USB drive with damaging files for the cartel. Cass has taken an investigators position with the local sheriff's department. This leads to some very intense action with cartel killers. If that isn't enough their son is home from college for a visit and gets involved with a beautiful girl and her rather vicious ex boyfriend.
The action gets intense and it is very difficult to put the book down. It is a very good read and I recommend it highly. I would like to see another book in this series about the CR and Callahans.

Kill Order: A Contemporary Western Mystery Series (Cass Callahan Book 2)
by Chris Mullen
Cass must be the unluckily or luckiest man in west Texas. His life has two hit men, versus one very spunky and resourceful wife and one outstandingly courageous son. When Spencer Callahan comes to visit the Cr, it's only the beginning. This book has three subsequently mission impossible type adventures one for each Callahan family member. It shows the nature of family and the strength of maternal love. Readers are taken through nail biting adventures one after the other, with remarkable villains and a lot of collateral damage. The book leads to the next edition as ,Cass goes against the Cartel.

Cass and Raven are still trying to figure out how the CR will run smoothly with Cass being called out so often for his job. This continues to be an interesting contemporary western.
