Fed up with living in the shadows of my famous hockey-playing father and brothers, I decide to take matters into my own hands. With a little help from a family friend, I anonymously try out for my new college men’s hockey team, hoping to win one of the two open spots on the team and finally proving that I’m just as good as my father and brothers.
There’s only one thing standing in my way. Actually make that three things standing in my way. Coulter Collins, Fin Baxter, and Royal Reynolds, the three senior captains of the men’s hockey team. Their job as team captains is to select the two new team members. I need to make sure I’m focusing on tryouts and not the three sexy men watching my every move on and off the ice.
Armed with my lucky hockey stick and full-length, mirrored visor, I take the ice to prove I’m just as good as any male hockey player because I have a secret
I Puck Like a Girl.
This is a RH/Why Choose story where the Female lead character is shared by all three of the Male lead characters, sometimes at the same time, other times separately. There is no MM in the story.
This is a sport contemporary why choose romance. And I loved that the FMC is playing hockey. But this book wasn't about a story but about the smut. All the things I love were missing: a good relationship building and a good or great plot.
I stoped reading it at 36%. And I won't pick it up.
Not a fan of this - it was so cringe. Their relationship and progress of it was just not realistic to me. It is extremely instalove - all three boys obsessing over her after the party and needs to find their “dream girl” Their meet at the party was also just weird, especially with Coulter.
The initiation for the hockey team did not sit right with me. You have to stand in the shower in your underwear while the captains snap you with a wet towel. The harder the snap the more worthy you are - so if they leave a scar it’s like a badge of honour. So scarring yourself - for an initiation to a team in college. Nope that does not sit right with me at all.
Plus everything that happened during this initiation was also so cringe.
I like the idea of a female on a male hockey team - but the execution is not there.
The writing feels immature and just bad. Almost DNFed - but since it was an arc read I wanted to see if it got better, but it didn’t.
This was a 2 1/2 star read, generously rounded up to 3 stars. I really liked Teagan and the spicy scenes were good, but it felt like I was reading a Wattpad story. The vocabulary was very basic and the last couple of chapters didn’t make sense. I had to go back and reread because I thought I had skipped ahead. Then there was the whole Greg situation that was so rushed it was ridiculous. I just was not a fan of this. 😬
Whew, Ms. Ryan started this series off with a bang. Teagan Hayes has vowed to tryout for the hockey team and get a State Championship. She knows she is good. She just needs someone to give her a chance. Despite her being the best available, not everyone is too keen on having a girl on the hockey team. The three captains of the team were best friends and each needed this win. Coulter, Fin and Royal had each met or ran into Teagan at a party before the tryouts and wanted her individually. Teagan liked each of the guys as well.
The guys take it upon themselves to protect Teagan on and off the ice. Teagan is not that girl and is not having it. She can fight her own battles and handle herself. Can these four make a go of a relationship? On top of all of that, something is going on with Teagan's best friend, Brit. Teagan's brothers, the triplets, are acting weird. I can't wait for book two of this series. If you want a hot and steamy pucking read, this is your book. This short story will give readers everything they want in a sport reverse harem. Ms. Ryan does it right.
It’s a good reverse harem. Definitely fast paced and a short novella feel to it. I’ve been on a hockey romance kick lately so it was great having the hockey star be a woman for once.
Some things that need another edit check up are the references to Teagan making the varsity team (wouldn’t that be a reference to high school?) and to coach Greg. Early on he’s mentioned as Selina’s step brother and then later as her step uncle. The ending feels so abrupt, and the knocking down of the wall in the hockey house a bit out there for college students.
I really like this story. Loved seeing the characters grow and Teagan was awesome great character! She was so badass. The spice was hot. It’s a quick read, I really didn’t want the story to end. I am going to continue the series. Just because I want more. Would recommend if you want a quick fun, spicy read.
I think I can see how people might enjoy this book, but it was not for me.
From the first mention of Teagan's violet eyes, I rolled my brown eyes and was taken back to my fanfic days. Between that and the insta-love of three hunky (and well-hung) guys all falling for, and being totally cool with sharing, our main character...it was just too much.
I'm generally very forgiving with books, but these things just really rubbed me the wrong way. And it was also "spicy" but not really spicy enough to be worthwhile and the story was shallow and rushed.
As this is the first in a series, I don't know if they're going to wrap up some unfinished storylines or if they're going to move on to other characters, but I wouldn't be surprised if those threads just got left behind.
Finally *spoiler alert* Teagan's bestie getting together with her triplet brothers? Saw it coming a mile away and again...I know it's fiction but c'mon, lol. At this rate, women won't be able to find a man with all the 3-to-1 ratios going on.
I love a short hockey romance, and a story where the female main character is a hockey player herself... I'm in with both feet. Teagan is such a bad/@$$. She comes from a legacy of hockey players but has worked all her life to be the best, and compete with the best. She wants to play with others at her skill level and joining the men's college team gives her the chance to not only come out of her father and brother's shadows but also show the world that she is the best. What she didn't expect was falling for the team's captains Royal, Coulter, and Fin. Seeing them grow from teammates to friends to lovers was a treat, and the passion between them was sizzling hot and spicier than ghost peppers. The story is short, fast paced, and very entertaining.
Overall, it was a great read. I especially loved Teagan she was such a strong-willed and determined fmc.
Loved the multi pov. I've read some books that a multi pov doesn't work for, and you can't follow but the multi pov worked wonderfully for this book.
I can definitely see it becoming a series and even have a standalone following another character. The last couple of chapters and the epilogues lost me. The final chapter seemed forced with a lot of jumping around and a few sentences that didn't seem plausible or needed. There are several inconsistencies, especially with Greg and Selina. Epilogue one wasn't needed at all.
This was an enjoyable fast paced book. Short and interesting, and I finished it in a couple of hours. Loved the story and character building in the first half of the book. It became really fast paced and a little confusing in some places, but it tied together nicely in the end. Loved the representation of a female hockey player. The guys were also great, and all had different personalities and qualities.
The first epilogue set up Britt and her guy’s story nicely, and I can’t wait to read it 🫶🏻
This book definitely has potential, but I felt like the whole storyline was rushed. I couldn't get into the characters. The three guys saw one girl at a party, and suddenly, they were all willing to have a big orgy? Hockey really didn't play much of a role it l in the story either. I had a lot of confused moments with the way the story jumped around as well. Also, Greg's step-niece was originally his step-sister, so that's confusing as well.
I received this book as an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
Teagan is a strong, independent female hockey player who anonymously attends tryouts for the college male hockey team. She has strong familial connections to hockey but wants to prove to herself and everyone else that she belongs on the team. There are three co-captains of the hockey team who are also best friends. They are Coulter, Fin, and Royal. They all have a chance encounter with the same woman at a party the night before hockey auditions. It is most definitely an insta-lust novel. Plus, multiple male partners worshipping one woman? It's a great quick read!
So happy I was able to get this as an ARC from Winter Ryan. This was actually my first hockey romance and it was short and spicy. Teagan tries out for the boys hockey team at her school and Teagan can handle that, but can she handle the three co-captains that she can’t stop thinking about. This is a Reverse Harem/Why Choose story where the Female lead character is shared by all three of the Male lead characters, sometimes at the same time, other times separately.
This was a cute hockey RH story that checked all my boxes! I loved all the characters and really loved that there was a female in the male hockey team. I do wish this story was longer as some parts felt rushed, however I still enjoyed it and read it all in one sitting. If you’re looking for a cute, quick and sexy read then this is the perfect book for you. I cant wait for the next book in the series!
Hockey, teammates, and why choose The story moved quickly and kept me interested the whole time. There was minimal drama and bullying(not from the harem). We also got bits of humor and some yummy steam!! Teagan was smart, confident, and a take no crap FMC. Fin, Coulter, and Royal were her guys. I liked them all and I think the author did a good job making them each different. Overall, I really enjoyed it!!
I loved Teagan!!! She was strong willed and determine to show the world that she could play with the men. This short read definitely bring the steam as Teagan and her men heat up the pages. The characters were great and I loved their banter. The story ended a little too abrupt for me. I was hoping for a little more closure on one of the story lines. Other than that I enjoyed this read and can't wait for Brit's book!!
This was a cute little read, I was able to read it in a day. A why choose hockey romance with the FMC being on the same team was a twist in a story line we don't see often, but I was not mad at it. I enjoyed watching her skate circles around the men all while she was able to have them fall at her feet too. I can't wait to read more from this author, the epilogue left us with a little tease as of what the next book would be about.
Thought there would be more hidden identity than there was. The visor quickly comes off and then its girl on the team, overprotective guys and sex. Insta-lust and fantasies from the get go. I was more into Britt's situation with the brothers. Bit of miscommunication and brief mentions of a forced rape minor plot. Felt a bit rushed with how short it was. I might give Britt's book a go. I'm curious how long that hidden identity lasts.

Ok Guys !!! I have without a doubt just found myself a new favorite author . Puck Like A Girl was such a phenomenal read , so much fun . I mean how can it get better than this - a Hockey Why choose romance ( which yes happens to be two of my all time favorite tropes, beautifully and flawlessly entwined in the most wonderfully written storyline that literally played on all my emotions in ways I was not expecting and characters you cannot stop yourself from falling hook like and sinker in love with . Teagan was such a great heroine so likable and relatable not mention strong , confident and smart and her guys Fin , Coulter and Royal - each very different, complex and yes extremely swoon worthy . Add into all that angst , humor , witty banter , twists and turns, drama , love , passion, family and friendships - well all I can say is Puck Like A Girl was one wild ride that should not be missed
This book is totally full of spice from early on. If you do not like a lot of open-door spice, this is not the book for you. I was happy to see this book actually includes copious hockey elements. It is clear that Ryan is actually knowledgeable and cares about the sport. I particularly love how each of the boys are different from each other and have distinct but compatible personalities. They all bond over their attraction to Teagan. I will say the surprise with Britt was very obvious from the beginning and didn’t provide the plot twist this book could’ve really benefitted from. I enjoyed all of the elements where Teagan was strong and stood up for herself. I would’ve loved to see more from the book than just their relationship arrangement. Additional plot elements would’ve added some much-needed depth.
“Puck Like A Girl: A Why Choose Hockey Romance” is a fast, steamy, and funny read. Teagan, tired of living in her famous hockey family's shadow, tries out for her college's men's hockey team in secret. Armed with her skills and determination, she aims to prove herself.
Things heat up when Teagan catches the eye of the three senior captains—Coulter, Fin, and Royal. She impresses them both on and off the ice, and their chemistry is electric. The author's humor and engaging plot was also very entertaining to where I couldn’t put it down.
I’m excited for the next book too. While the “why choose” storyline with brothers isn’t usually my thing, I'm curious to see where it goes.
Overall, if you're looking for a fun, steamy hockey romance with a strong female lead, give this book a try.
Whew - turn up the A/C - this is a why choose sports romance that brings serious heat! This is a relatively short, but overall, enjoyable book. I love FMC's that challenge the normal thinking, especially in sports, and Teagan did not disappoint. She is fearless, talented and in your face in the best way. Her hockey hunks are everything you want in book boyfriends - hot, misunderstood, broody, and packing more than average, ahem...muscles. The story arc moves quickly and was super satsifying - while building up the next book's storyline. Can't wait for the next book - this series looks like a winner!
37% and I can’t go any further, I could have stopped a lot sooner.
Maybe I should have looked into this more before giving it a go. The writing felt immature and the little bit of story that existed just didn’t work for me. From the party where she decided to watch a stranger touch himself, to the guys all deciding they had to have her from their glimpse of her at that party, to the hazing ritual with the 3 captains snapping the newbies with a towel in the showers hoping for a scar to “prove your worth” on the team. The language used in the way they think about each other, about other women, and to describe the sexual aspects didn’t work for me either.
It’s was okay. I was hoping for more in depth to the story and to be sucked in but I wasn’t. The plot sounded good and has real potential but this story needed MORE. It was basically soft porn. And not really good soft porn either. The character fell “in love” too easily and they didn’t really even know each other nor did they get time to get to know each other. This book read like one of those books you read in an app for beginners. BUT it wasn’t THAT bad. it’s basically a topical read.
Spoiler: the build up to the next book with her best friend Britt and Teagan’s brothers were obvious from the beginning.
Fantastic read! The storyline holds your attention. Each character clearly defined including the side characters. I liked the fact that the focus did stay on Hockey with plenty of steamy moments. Where the book could have got really Dark and angsty it does not. It just shines through the fact that supporting each other and good communication can be a key to success. The Easter eggs dropped through out of her best friends leads you anxiously waiting to see what will happen next.
🥵🥵🥵 the spice in this book!! Perfection!! It is a short but fun read and it was the perfect winter vacation read for me! I loved Teagan and her tenacity. I am a sucker for a strong independent fmc ♥️ I wish the characters overall were more fleshed out, but that could be because I'm used to ridiculously long books 😅 I also wish that I got to understand why Mark did what he did, and the same with Greg (No spoilers I promise) So that was why it is 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall a fun quick read that dives headfirst into spice and has enjoyable characters!
Puck Like A Girl is the 1st book in the Playing The Puck series. This is a why choose hockey romance. Teagan is determined to make it on to the men’s college hockey team and prove that with her skills she can hold her own with the guys, despite who her father is. She just has to prove herself in the tryout to the three co-captains - Royal, Fin and Coulter. This is a fun and spicy story and can’t wait to see what comes next. I received this book from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
