Rebekah Sinclair writes books that bite back.
Dark rom-coms. Greek mythology retellings. Wicked fae. Billionaire antiheroes. Her stories blend unhinged humor, high-stakes heat, and emotional wreckage you’ll thank her for later.

With 11 published novels (and plenty more on the way), Rebekah has built a world of morally gray men, stabby women, and plot twists that hit like a betrayal kink. Whether you’re into serial killers with soft spots, gods who fall too hard, or fae realms soaked in shadow, there’s a love story in her lineup that will ruin you—in the best way.

Off the page, Rebekah is a single mom to five wildly chaotic kids and four fur-babies (two cats, two dogs, all equally dramatic). Writing started as her escape. Now it's her full-blown career, complete with exclusive covers, spicy book boxes, and signings where readers show up wearing eyeliner sharper than her plot twists.

When she’s not writing, she’s probably hiding from her kids in the pantry, pretending to be brainstorming.

Welcome to Rebekah Sinclair’s world.
The spice is high. The stakes are higher.
And no one makes it out emotionally intact.

So i found this book on tiktok, and with all the spoilers/previews/trailers i just need to have it.

So for starters this book felt rushed, there isnt really a intro with getting to know fmc. Or what kind of powers she has that she is trying to hid. Within 24 pages, she went to a bookstore, had a panic attack, met the mmc, stalked someone, got into a fight, was met with someone else with powers, kipnapped and put into power blocking handcuffs. Thats alot to put in the first 24 pages.

She has no control over her powers but somehow she can push her powers just like she wants them into every corner of a room, without getting help or training.

The friendships she has with other characters seem to happen instantly, no build up. Hermes and Rhea’s connection also happens out of nowhere, it goes from cold to extremly hot within a second. And actually makes you think, where the hell did that come from. Or when he tells someone to stop flirting with his lady. I really didnt understand where that actually came from or when that happend, its just out of nowhere.

Her relationship with her aunt that raised her was also not really important is she just lets her get killed and doesnt grief it afterwards. its only an after thought sometimes.

Rhea is suppose the be the strong kickass fmc, but she seems just like a girl who is scared of everything cries about everything with panic attacks all the time. A brat with tantrums, stomping her feet like a little child. She also asks Hermes, Why are you always carrying me… euhm well i dont know, ive only read about it time before…

The book does have alot of exciting plot twists that you dont see coming, i really liked that. Betrayels, battle scenes and alot of clarifications that you dont expect but somehow makes sense when you think about them. And i really loved the character art in the back of the book.
I did expect alot more from this book and was kind of dissapointed. Will i read book 2, yes i will. The plot twists and the cliffhanger make it hard not to.
And i really hope that book 2 improves a bit, less rushed maybe a bit more explanations

Amazing. I love how the story unfolds. You are sucked in from the very first minute on Rheas journey to figure out who she is and what power she holds. The characters are amazing. This was so well written!

I want to say thank you to Rebekah for sending me a PR box for this book!

I would give this book 3.7/5. I think it started out really strong but it kinda felt a little slow in the middle and picked back up again at the end. I think if I would have went into this not thinking it was a urban fantasy romance, I would have liked it more. My brain was just expecting more romance and it wasn’t enough to keep my brain satisfied. It’s honestly probably my fault for assuming that! If you enjoy Greek mythology, then there’s a good chance you will love it! Just don’t go into it thinking romance is going to be a main point because it’s almost have less than a subplot romance. Also, can we mention how talented the author is with the character art! It’s truly amazing and really captures what i picture them all looking like!

Another overpowered yet weak and over emotional heroine falling for a significantly older immortal. Lots of “I am so special and I hate it! Let me go cry while also having all the power nobody has heard of but not knowing how to use it…. Unless I’m about to die”. It’s very young adult writing but with vague marysue sex scenes.

NO. Just NO! I desperately wanted to DNF this book but mama ain’t raise no quitter so I trudged through this shit show. I came across this book on TikTok and I really wanted to love it, at the very least, LIKE IT. I was so excited when it was finally released 👏🏽 Based on the way it was marketed it seemed to have sooooo much potential.

SPOILERS BELOW👇🏽 - YOU’VE BEEN WARNED 🫵🏽

This is a story following our FMC, Rhea and MMC Hermes. She’s on a typical quest to find out who she is and where her powers come from. She eventually discovers that Elementals are, in fact, gods and goddesses. I mean, it felt like they were giving out that title like you’d give out a piece of candy. The MC’s and side character all live together in a commune/college dorm/apartment style place. Really? REALLY? So after being alive for THOUSANDS of years you’re telling me you don’t want some personal space? 🙃 They have a useless, insignificant headmistress. Yes, you read correctly. We are supposed to believe that GODS AND GODDESSES answer to an inconsequential headmistress. I definitely didn’t get the “powerful gods and goddesses vibe” from this. Aside from being able to control the elements and being long lived nothing really makes them special. No super strength, speed, durability, etc 😭 This definitely gave high school/Percy Jackson-ish vibes in terms of the mannerisms and personalities.

Don’t even get me started on the cringey dialogue. I literally closed the book multiple times because I needed to give myself a pep talk to power through! Ugh, and the whiplash!!! How did we go from having dinner to “don’t flirt with my lady?” It wasn’t even like Instalove it was more along the lines of, “I forgot to include some vital info and genuine relationship-building but SURPRISE! they’re in love.” 😒🙄 There were so many things missing. There were no smooth transitions and quite frankly, I skimmed most of the book. The FMC is meant to be this all powerful goddess yet all she does is cry, whine, have panic attacks and contributes absolutely NOTHING. The characters had absolutely no depth, they were incredibly one dimensional and the overall story fell flat.

In all honesty, I likely will not be picking up book 2 when it comes out.

So I had the privilege to arc read for this author and I can’t tell you enough that it was an amazing read.

First off let me just say that as soon as you open the book and read the first page you are thrust into a new world immediately. Where’s most books it takes some time to jump into the action. No Rebekah did not hold back. From the very first page you are swept off your feet with Rhea and Hermes and the rest of the characters and are pulled into such a unique and modern world containing magic, gods and goddesses, werewolves and a mystery that will keep you wondering what’s next.

The character development for each character is amazing, I felt for each character as I met them. There were characters I hated, Characters I loved, and characters I was on the fence about. But each one has such a unique personality to them that you couldn’t help falling in love with each of them in some way.

Next, the world. Omg how the modern world was immersed and created to have almost a modern yet futuristic feel to it but yet remain realistic with the gods and goddesses but yet still have that ancient feel to it was incredible. Everything went really well together and how the descriptions were done, I felt like I was seeing it for myself. Like it was a movie playing in my head as I read.

This book was amazing, from the very beginning to the very end. I had every emotion going from anger, to crying to happiness to wtf moments and I couldn’t be happier to have arc read for this author and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

To be her debut novel..this book was truly amazing. If you're into Greek mythology, world building, strong female characters, fated mates, and magic..read it. You will get hooked from the first page, and the pacing was good. Some moments will have you ready to jump in the book to give some characters a pop or two. Other moments you need tissues. Rebekah did an amazing job describing things that you can vividly picture it as you read, so if you're a vivid reader, you'll totally enjoy it. I'm looking forward to reading book 2!

🖤

Okay.. I’m rereading to refresh my memory for the newest book & now I’m leaving this review because I am now realizing I never wrote one for this series😐😐🫥🫥
I love stories having to do with Greek mythology and gods and this one did not disappoint!
From the moment you start it you get hooked on questions like wth is going on?! Who is this girl and what’s going on with her?!
You get sucked into her story and wanting to know how strong she is and if she’s someone really big in the story.
Rebekah did an amazing job with the story and characters I loved all of them!
From the villains to the good guys and there was always a twist or a mystery like if any more people were working with Ares undercover and betraying Hermes crew.
Def recommend reading this series it’s good! (It’s good for me, check it out and see for yourself)🖤

Listen . I was hooked from the first chapter. Rhea is so sweet and it breaks your heart when you get to know her. Her past and her losses, you automatically fall in love with her and her strength. She never gives up and stays strong. Hermes has losses as well that keeps him distant and feeling undeserving, mainly because he blames himself. But the angst and build up of him and Rhea is totally amazing. This book had me on the edge of my seat, with a tissue . I truly loved everything about it. The author did an AMAZING job with each character, the world building, the history , just everything she put into it. I look forward to reading this again , and then part 2 whenever it comes out lol

I was pulled into this story by the different take on the Greek gods and goddesses, as well as it being an urban fantasy. The fmc was very realistic, as was the mmc. They both work through their own traumatic pasts, which are displayed on page in different ways, so please check triggers!
The minor characters are done very well, and it was nice to see some of them presented differently.
The world building is not overwhelming at all, but still gives you a picture of what's going on without making it the whole point! The imagery is so beautiful and creative and different, and I loved it.
There were twists and several times my mind was blown, and I cannot wait for the next book!

"But the thought of having people who understand me is worth all the world's treasures."

I won a PR box in a giveaway which contained an advance readers copy. I am under no obligation to write any review but I have not been able to stop thinking of the characters and the world so I had to share.

Rebekah’s writing grabs you from the first sentence and keeps you hooked with well written and interesting characters throughout. The world building flows natural in the storyline to build the scenes without bogging you down with too much information. Explanations, background of characters, world building and details were all given in the right quantities and at the right time.

We get to experience the story through the point of view of Rhea and Hermes. Rhea, who has lost her family at a young age and learned to keep powers of her a secret. She is a strong female character who, on occasion, does have anxiety attacks. But she was thrust into a world that she thought was a myth, she is fighting to keep her powers under control and learning how to control them, if she didn't have moments of weakness, it would not be believable? Hermes, a man with a mission to protect the gods and mortals from the god of war, while wearing armor to protect his heart. Hermes has a past that gives him pause but you can't help but fall in love with him and his banter and the way he can light up a room.

The side characters are so entwined within the story that you feel close to each one, and the story line keeps you guessing on who you can and cannot trust. A character that had me hooked from their first line had me questioning their motives by then next chapter. This book has a choke hold on me and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!! One of my top reads this year! If you love greek mythology with a twist, fated mates, a powerful FMC still figuring out her powers and who she is, plus a strong found family trope, THIS IS FOR YOU! It was fast paced, intriguing, gripping and adventurous. Rebekah really is a remarkable writer and although I didn’t appreciate chapter 21 (I’m still broken over it) I’m sure theres a reason for that as the next book comes along. Medusa is probably my favorite character aside for Callie. The world building was straight to the point and not dragging which I really love. I can’t wait for more!

**Thanks goes to the author for letting me review this early**

"The Forgotten Goddess" had so much promise!! The other early reviews gave me hope, as did the summary. I am someone who HATES giving low ratings or DNFing books, but right now, I am DNFing this one. My attention isn't sticking to Rhea or the story, and I barely made it through the first chapter. The second chapter started off in someone else's POV (I think??), or in the past, I have no clue. But either way, it jarred me too much and had me closing the book.

The writing needs some work. The first chapter had Rhea going to a book signing, which could've been interesting, but the way it was written, it bored me and I skimmed. Her emotions were all over the place, like a teenager. Also, the same words are used repetitively in a single chapter, like "powers". Rhea has the personality of someone in high school; she didn't feel that mature. She already sounded like a Special Snowflake with all these "super powers", she doesn't think she's pretty, she has low self-esteem, and I am not here for that. The main love interest (I believe) felt like a cardboard cut-out of the typical hot guy who finds the "boring" girl special, beautiful, and amazing.

Mythology is my JAM, but Greek mythos is so overdone that it will take a LOT to impress me. I really wish I could've loved this like the other reviews, but I could not finish it, at least right now. Maybe its because I have other things going on in my life, but as I said, the writing really pulled me away. Maybe I'll give the book another shot in the future.

I hope all the best for the author and I will continue to look out for any future books she writes!

Hands down, this is my favorite fantasy read of the year!
I think, however, that the thing I loved most about The Forgotten Goddess is that it dives right into the character meetings and drama. Sure, I love a good world building and character-building story, but this one builds as the story progresses from the very first chapter. I liked that it wasn't a hundred pages of info dump before diving into the action. You get the action from the very beginning!
This book also has a little bit of everything. There's humor, there are feel-good moments, action, magical moments, and angst. Ugh, the angst!
I flipped page after page, not wanting to put the book down. And then when it was finally over, I was an emotional wreck. I have no idea how I'm gonna hold out for book 2 lol.

This review comes from receiving an advanced copy as an ARC reader and I am beyond grateful! 🥰🥰

It’s a fresh take on Greek mythology and fantasy, and throws so many turns at you, that the finer intricacies of the retelling of mythology is absolutely amazing! Rhea went through so much, and goes through so much more, but is a strong female main character, and learns to grow through her early problems!

Tie into that sense of regrowth is the fact that she finds herself as she learns to overcome her problems, try to find peace with her past, and solve the problems presented with her past.

So many different mythological figures are tied into this story in fresh and amazing ways that tie into both the history of the book, the current setting, as well as the potential for the future, that I can’t wait for the next book to come out already 🥰

Truly amazing in every aspect!

I was lucky enough to recieve an ARC of The Forgotten Goddess in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited for this book and seeing how it was being promoted but it was a bit painful to read if I’m being honest.

My no. 1 concern though was the manipulation of Greek (and sometimes other) mythologies. While different interpretations and even reimaginings are right up my alley this was complete obliteration. And worst of all, there suposedly is a reason for this misinterpretation by the humans but it is wholy insuficient to bring me into a full understanding of the world.

It tells a dark tale but the writing style lacks the gritt to carry it through and comes off too light and airy which isn’t the vibe it should give.

The chemistry between MCs feels forced and the pacing rushed. Both FMC and MMC are extremely superficial and have no real personalities out of; him: hot, her: extremely insecure but shouldn’t be.

At the end of the day I found the execution to be lacking for an idea that could have blown me away and that makes me sad. I wanted this to be amazing.

A Captivating Blend of Mythology and Modernity

A 5-Star Review for "The Forgotten Goddess" by Rebekah Sinclair

I recently had the pleasure of reading "The Forgotten Goddess" Rebekah Sinclair to prepare for arc reading book two, and I must say, it was an absolutely enchanting experience. This book effortlessly weaves together the captivating allure of Greek mythology, werewolves and fantasy with a modern and fresh twist, keeping me engaged from start to finish.

One of the aspects that truly stood out to me was the love story between Reah and Hermes. Their relationship blossomed beautifully, filled with genuine emotions and heartfelt moments. There is a slow burn with this story, but it is done beautifully. The author skillfully portrayed their connection, making it both believable and heartwarming.

Additionally, Sinclair's take on Medusa was truly remarkable. The author delves into her backstory and evolution, providing a unique perspective that I found utterly fascinating. I think selfishly, she may be my favorite side character. It was refreshing to see such a well-known character presented in a fresh and compelling light. Sinclair's attention to detail and her ability to breathe life into her characters is truly commendable.

From love to tragedy, betrayal to hope, this book encompasses a wide range of emotions, making the reading experience all the more captivating.

And let's not forget that cliffhanger! I am immediately starting my arc of book two when I finish this review! Sinclair has left me hanging on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the resolution of the events that unfolded. I simply cannot wait to see how it all plays out!

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a riveting read filled with love, tragedy, betrayal, and hope. Be prepared to be transported to a world where gods and mortals collide in the most captivating way possible.

This was a fantastic debut novel as well as book 1 in a series!

Paranormal reimagining of the Greek Gods and Greek Mythology? Yes Please!

This story follows Rhea who has magical powers, but has no idea where they came from so she spends most of her life researching possible other people with abilities like herself. One day she goes to an authors book signing hoping to pick their brain on Greek mythology research. She ends ends getting kidnapped and discovers ::gasp:: The Greek Gods of mythology are actually real and walking this earth!

The pacing, the world building, and the character development were very well done throughout this book. All of the characters were so compelling, especially the charismatic Hermes, who is our main male character.

The ending had me in a chokehold, and I cannot wait for book 2 to see how the story progresses in the series! Such a strong start to what I’m sure will be a popular new series

I have questions so many questions.
Wasn't expeting so many layers, but
I'm loving it. I like that it let's us see
and let's us get to know all the characters
involved and their strengths. The mythology
is it's own unique thing. Rhea and Hermes can't
stay away from each other, their chemistry is
undeniable but very slow burn... but I think it'll
be worth the wait. I can't wait to see what
happens in Bk. 2

(I received as an ARC in PR and this is my honest review.) I have read this book TWICE before reviewing so to say I’m obsessed is an understatement. I absolutely fell in love with this epic-ly tragic story of love and strength. The friendships/dynamics between characters and their personalities make each character unique. You will fall in love with many of the side characters just as much as the MC’s. I love Greek Mythology and I loved the lore intertwined in every bit of this book. The magic system Rebekah created to explain the character’s powers and how mortal text about the gods hold a sliver of truth is so freaking cool! So beautifully written and let me tell you I cried a few times during each read. I’m so excited to see what is in store for book 2.

I received the ARC for this book.
Being someone who has read quite a few Greek mythology retelling book/series I was pretty skeptical yet excited to read this. As soon as I started reading it sucked me into this world of elementals, werewolves, witches, vampires I was entranced.

*Some minor spelling errors aside*

It pulled me in every second I read it. Twists and turns. Wolfs in sheep's clothing, just when you think you have the story figured out BOOM your hit with the complete opposite in such a magnificent way. The details put into describing characters, places, Auras was truly breathtaking and not over done like some retelling books can do. You fall in love with the characters (some of them) and you legitimately cry and feel pain when they are hurt.

This is the best Greek mythology retelling book I have read this year.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. The world built by this author is absolutely stunning and brilliant. I love the unique take she gives us into the world of the God's, the elementals, and the werewolves. The love story between the FMC and the MMC had me crying and yearning all at the same time for them to find each other. The magic system and characters brought into the story kept me absolutely spellbound. I love the flow and pace. it's not too fast or too slow and feels like it flows perfectly. In the beginning, we are thrust into the story right away, but by the end, all the pieces fell perfectly into place. I just absolutely love everything about the writing, the world building, and the cast of characters. I am so happy the next book is coming soon so we, the readers, can continue on this fanstatic journey.

I received a complementary advanced copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

I loved the premise of this book having the Greek pantheon of gods in the modern world, the mix of secondary gods was refreshing, and the magic system was also interesting. All that being said there were a few issues for me.

The magic system although being interesting it was confusing at times as there were some contradictions. The pacing of the book seemed to me way too fast, I feel like the book could've benefited from being broken up into 2 to 3 books. The mix of several different cultures pantheons of gods made the storyline murky and hard to follow at times. It felt like too much was being added in just 300 pages, more pages with development would've helped with this in my opinion.

My real issue was the dialogue in this. The dialogue seemed to not fit the seriousness of what the author was trying to portray of an adult fantasy to actually ya fantasy. Some of the dialogue was a bit too immature especially the internal monologue of the main characters.

Personally the main characters seemed to be stereotypical high school characters. The nerdy girl that gets bullied and doesn't know she's actually beautiful. The popular jock type that notices her and realizes she's special and not like the other girls. I would've like to have seen Rhea as more as a snarky type to cover up the fact that she has insecurities than the demure damsel in distress. I would've preferred for Hermes to have been more morally grey than the predictable golden boy. To me the main characters were one dimensional and extremely annoying but the side characters are the saviors especially Medusa (I can't stand the nickname of Duce though). The main romance needs more development because right now they only like each other because they are mates but if it weren't for that their love wouldn't make any sense. I would have like to have seen there attraction be more than the mate pull and the physical attraction. To me there was no emotional aspect as to why they love each other or are even attracted to each other.

I think if the author we're to tweak a few things here and there and then work on other aspects and republish as a YA fantasy it would be perfect. There is great potential here with story and characters but some elements fell short of success to me. I still enjoyed the book but see the amazing potential the book could have if certain things were more fully developed. I will be keeping up and reading more from this author as she has great and unique ideas.

First I want to thank the wonderful Rebekah Sinclair for sending me one of the most gorgeous PR boxes I have ever received and for writing this PHENOMINAL book. If I could give this book more stars I would because man was I hooked!

This cast of characters is amazing. I love them all. There are so many bonds between people that make this story so rich from Rhea and Callie's deep friendship, to the found family Rhea finds with the gods, and of course, the slow but oh so good burn of the love and passion between Rhea and Hermes... this book is, in my opinion, lacking nothing. It is amazing.

I am an avid reader of greek mythology retellings and can usually piece together quite quickly which myth is being represented but this book was so uniquely done with so many easter eggs that I was constantly shocked by the revealing of new layers to this story. Rebekah is a beautiful writer and her story flows so naturally you would think she had a whole anthology of books to grow from but in reality this is her debut novel and that alone has be so excited about where her career and where this sexy, exciting, and thrilling series is going to go.
