I enjoyed The Sheriff Catches a Bride. It was good but it didn't really wow me. Just a nice little love story. Cab was sexy and I really liked him. Rose was okay she was a push over for most of the book. I wanted many times to yell at her and tell her to grow up and stick up for herself. She did grow a back bone and that made her more likable. I liked the relationship between Cab and Rose although I wish Rose would have jumped in a little more than she did. She held herself back. Overall a good read.

More focus on the over encompassing cast of characters, including past and future heroes and heroines, and the small town relationship drama. Also a pretty big secondary storyline following a girl from Afghanistan trying to escape the Taliban, felt a bit out of left field.
This was my first foray into the series, which you could start here because there is nothing confusing but you won't feel emotional attachment to the characters.

Wanted the hero and heroine to spend more time together and didn't feel like I ever got to know the hero but writing was good and as a Kindle Freebie, it did its job of interesting me enough to look into other books in the series.
Takes place in Montana but still had a slight western feel.

First line…
As her mother’s words repeated in her mind like a well-worn mantra, Fila Sahar struggled to right her clothing in the cramped bathroom of the Emirates-owned airplane she’d been traveling in for hours. She’d waited to escape from Afghanistan for over ten years…
Wait… the heroine is Afghani? Squees
No… where did she go? Dammit. WHY are there two storylines?
Rose works in the jewellers and each time she sells an engagement ring, she gets a ‘feeling’. Sheriff Cab’s mates trick him into choosing one and shove it on Rose’s finger and she nearly faints. That’s a strong reaction to a guy she hasn’t even dated but the big issue is she’s already engaged to Jason; six years and counting.
Cab is house-minding for Carl who has a lot of Persian carpets. Is that where Fila is trying to go? Wait, Claire’s mother ran a charity program for rescuing child brides from the taliban. Wtf?
Bloody sad that this book doesn’t ever suggest to a girl who is pregnant that a termination might be a good idea. The father of the baby is married, forty two and doesn’t want to help. She’s twenty one but works at a store and has no savings or support. It ought to be an option. Or at the very least going to talk to a professional about her options, both medical and legal. Planned parenthood clearly doesn’t exist in the made up Chance Creek.
This is very repetitive.
Oh great, Cab suggests learning to shoot ‘coz that will help make Rose more assertive. No, it won’t it’ll just make her still nervous and now armed - a fatal recipe.
Every woman in this is a doormat and all the guys are hideous control freaks. This isn’t romantic at all. Cab literally blames the serial killer victims.
Women, on the other hand, put two and two together and came up with a reason to buy two hundred Hummel angels and store them in a fancy cabinet for the next fifty years. They got in stranger’s cars and ended up dead. (p. 63).

Omfg Rose has now built a tree house on private property and is squatting.

When it switches pov it rewinds…
Like this:
She nodded and the knowledge that she trusted him— in this at least— set him on fire all over again.
“Are you sure?” He waited for her answer.
“Yes.”
***
Rose couldn’t believe how wanton she’d been this afternoon. Joining the game that Cab started. Stripping off her sweater, then her blouse, then her bra, then everything else. Baring herself to him. Granting three wishes to him. (p. 180).

You hit pause and rewind in the middle of the sex scene. Wtf?
They get back to it but it reads… badly.
Jason just picked up Fila. *face palms* there’s coincidence and there’s ridiculous.
Emory has full on OCD, if Cab is the same, he can’t fix it instantly. You can’t tell one guy he needs professional help and tell the other he can fix it by himself. wtf?
Now when Rose and Cab see Jason (and Fila) on a street corner they run away. What are you, twelve?
Jason assaults Cab (the sheriff), gets arrested, and confesses that he’s spent six years studying engineering, has LIED about working and saving money for his and Rose’s future and he’s in uni debt up to his ears. Deceit - always a good basis for a relationship.
This is horrible. Sure, he should be proud of himself for doing a degree but you don’t reckon Rose could have been in on this decision? He’s left her in another state, harangued her for moving in with his father (without sharing sensible reasons why that wasn’t a good idea), never offered for her to go live with him, visits once or twice a year, calls her once a week (maybe), and he won’t let her go to art school because then he’d have to admit he isn’t earning the money so he runs her down for wanting to do Art as a career. Fuck you, Jason. He tells Cab he can get great jobs overseas and Rose probably can’t go with him. Jeez, I was an expat - that’s not how it works.
“I’m telling you I saw them. Four Middle Eastern men driving right through town, as bold as can be.” Cab resisted the urge to haul Kevin inside and lock him up in a cell beside Jason. (p. 238).

I know I keep saying this but… wtf? I am now fairly sure there aren’t any black people in this imaginary town either.
Omfg Hannah just stole a bison so that her idiot boyfriend can’t shoot it.
Bwahaha
Do you KNOW how big bison are?
Cody - the idiot boyfriend - naturally assumes that if she’s not home she’s cheating on him. Just shoot him, Hannah, it’d be easier.
The scene in the woods with four taliban hunting Fila, a loose bison, and a dozen armed local guys is just pages of confused people shouting each other’s names. It fails as an epic climax scene.
Better not to sleep than to let Rose venture into danger again. (p. 281).

No Cab, no NO NO NO.
Oh Christ, now one of the heroes (Rob) wants to go bison hunting for real. One just saved your miserable life.
And Rose is being harassed by Jason and Emory to stick with the engagement (which she is totally allowing) until Cab sits down to add his silent bullying as well. Only then does she say ‘no’ to them.
Horrible…
I expected a cute cowboy romance and this is just a mess.

I usually love to relax with a Cora Seton romance set in the favoured location of Chance Creek. However, I felt that the male protagonist( Sheriff Cab) was a bit old school in his thinking( women need to be protected from the evils of the world) and I felt that the female protagonist( Rose) rushed into a relationship way too fast after breaking a 6 year engagement. I also wished that CS had stayed away from the whole Middle Eastern terrorist subplot.

"Rose, I made you a promise that I would back off and let you have some time. I told you I'd give you room to find yourself before I pushed back into your life. I lied. I don't want to back off. I don't want to give you space. I don't want to leave you alone. I love you. I want to spend my life with you. Take all the time you need to answer because I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here, wherever you are. I won't boss you around. I won't tell you what to do, but I'll be here. Waiting for you." - Cab Johnson

Take a look at the quote above, and tell me that Cab doesn't win the award for "Most Awesome Man of the Year"! Go on, try and prove me wrong!

Life in Chance Creek is not as dull as one might think. While to an outsider it might look like a quiet and boring ranch town in Montana, to Cab Johnson, the town's sheriff, it's a place full of danger waiting to happen. The fourth of the Cowboys of Chance Creek, Cab is the serious, worrisome force that has to deal with sorting out trouble - and the messes that his three friends often find themselves into. He has a lot on his plate already, and having to look out for Rose Bellingham, no matter how much she occupies his mind, is a task that has him on his toes. Still, he can't help the overprotectiveness in her case, even if Rose already has a man that's supposed to care for her. As for the woman in question, she has her own demons to battle. The need for freedom and a fiancé in North Dakota are enough to deal with - diving headfirst into her mutual attraction with the big good sheriff would only complicate things further. But what are two people, meant to be, supposed to do when holding back proves to be too much?

As Morgan said in the 3rd book, The Cowboy Imports a Bride , it was Cab's turn to settle down. And, oh, my darlings, wasn't yours truly impatient to get to his story or what? Cab has been my favorite character since book one, and Rose was an enigma I couldn't wait to solve ever since I found out about her "gift" - which was seriously awesome, somehow sensing which couples would make it in the long run and which wouldn't. Cora Seton has become an addiction of mine, I'm afraid, and this book didn't disappoint.

Rose reminded me so much of myself, it made me feel half of the times irked, and the other half ecstatic. I know I can relate to many female leads in the books I read, but Rose Bellingham seriously was my fictional self, no kidding! Her need for freedom, how she had a sixth sense in certain things, the way she couldn't pursue her dreams because those close to her thought arts would never bring her monetary profit, how she continuously rejected her own desires because she couldn't say no and defend her wishes and beliefs - and don't get me started on her extreme (no matter how futile) efforts to keep Cab away even if she wanted him, because she needed to find herself and straighten her life first! Her whole personality screamed at me through the pages! The way she let her parents dictate her filled my heart with pure sympathy. All this made it impossible for me to hate her when she treated Cab the way she did. It was unacceptable, I'll admit, and she was a real coward many times through the book, but she was just discovering how to be her own "boss", so she could be excused for not knowing the right way to do it and to make Cab understand.

Speaking of Cab... Did I tell you he was my favorite guy since the first book of this series? Oh, I did?!

Well, he totally was. First of all, I love men that are so much larger than a woman - and I'm not talking about their beer stomachs, I'm talking about height, and big hands, and long, muscular legs, and strong backs with wide shoulders. And Cab was all that. It makes me feel so feminine - and I wasn't even there, Rose was the one enjoying this hot sheriff's attention! Another fetish of mine is a man in uniform or in a police position - which should worry me since I swore I would never look twice at a guy with the same occupation as my father, but whatever. Cab had that one, too. And a lot of other traits I simply find irresistible. He was always the one that talked less, and when it came to women, he was so shy and reserved and so far away from the spotlight, it was too cute to ignore. And in the sexual scenes, he was so talkative (damn, here comes another fetish!), yet still totally respectful of Rose, I had to dive for the tissues to stop my nosebleeds all the time!

Another character that is worth mentioning is Jason. While at first it was hard for me to even pity him because he was losing his girl and didn't even know it, when the story came to its end, the poor bloke had me sympathizing with him. It would be nice to see him have his HEA, too, but, as Carl, he wasn't one of the main guys, so I'm not putting my hopes up for it. Still...

Cora Seton has me completely hooked with her Chance Creek. I was never one for nature, and farm/ranch life, and all that, but I'm quickly changing my mind as I keep reading her books. It's all about family and love in that town, and while it has its ups and downs, it sounds like a damn good place to go live. Her writing voice might have a lot to do with that. It's her own, alright, but it does weird things to me, I tell you - like, make me wish for a ranch life, me, the ultimate anti-nature, 100% city girl! Her characters are all so different, and so real, and, as somewhat of a family saga, this series of hers is proving to be as heart-warming as coming home after a long, hard day would be - hell, it feels like home, too. Her sexual scenes never cease to impress me. Mrs. Seton doesn't just write sex - she cuts and sews it to fit the respective main couple of each book. The act, even in its hottest parts, doesn't feel dirty at all. It's hot and yet romantic, without being sappy, and it never gets repeating. It's equally "old school courtship" and "new times passion". Not to mention she's very imaginative - her strip pool scene shows exactly that, and no, I won't tell you anything more, other than it had me turning my heater off to stop myself from burning up.

I'm looking forward to reading the next books. The Matheson boys were not exactly my cup of tea - and heaven knows I want either Fila or Mia with Ned to teach the freaking brute some gentleness - but I'm dying to know what this writer will come up with next. Now that she even added some gunfight action, I know that she can do anything!

I really like Cab Johnson! I do because he is such a good guy and so deserves to be happy! Cab is the Sheriff of Chance Creek and he is in love with Rose Bellingham even though she is engaged to marry someone else. Rose works at the local jewelry store and has a sixth sense about engagement rings. She gets a feeling when guys come in to buy one and can tell right away if the marriage is going to work. So Cab's friends go to work by taking a trip to the store and going in the store and picking out the ugliest rings ever. Cab thinks it's a miracle they even have wives and selects a beautiful ring that reminds him of Rose. Rob being Rob shoves the ring onto Rose's hand so they can all see how it looks which of course makes Rose almost pass out and the rest of the guys smug!
“Rose? You okay?” She looked like she was about to faint.
“Told you,” Rob said, grinning at Ethan.
“Son of a gun,” Ethan said, “You were right.”
“What are you talking about?” Cab was annoyed. “Get her some water, for crying out loud. Rose, do you need to sit down for a minute?” In a horrible flash he wondered if she was pregnant. She’d been Jason’s fiancée a long time. Maybe they hadn’t always been careful.
Rose stared at him wide-eyed. Growing worried, Cab tightened his grip on her arm and came around to her side of the case. “I think you need to sit,” he said again.
She shook her head and seemed to come back to herself. “I’m… fine.”
“Really?” Jamie said. “Because you look like you’ve seen your hus—”
Ethan whacked him on the arm.

That would be wonderful if Rose wasn't engaged and didn't have everyone under the sun telling her what to do. She lives in a small house that is owned by her boss who happens to be her future father in-law and who happens to be a bit off in the head. Jason, her fiancée hasn't lived in Chance Creek since they got engaged. He left to go to college and build a future. Rose just needs a place where she can go and paint without everyone around. So she finds the perfect place in the woods and builds herself a little fort. The fact that it happens to be in the woods right next to where Cab is staying is just a coincidence. Her little hideaway though soon has company as Mia Start needs a place to figure out what she is going to do and  Hannah Chatham needs a place to hide what she has done.

The love that grows between Cab and Rose is so sweet. Cab doesn't want to tell Rose what to do so much as he wants to keep her safe and love her. Rose is just learning what she wants and even if that is Cab she still has to find more of herself first. At least that is what she plans until life decides things need to get shaken up a bit.

Finally!!

I feel like this series is back on track!! I loved the first two books of this series, but it felt like it was getting derailed with corniness.

I loved the attraction between the Sheriff and the girl who was supposedly taken...

Actually hearing a story of an Afghani woman gave the book some extra spice, but it was unexpected.

Only thing that got on my nerves was our girl whining about her parents and everyone "telling her what to do". Yes, Emory was a total creeper, but damn girl!! How old are you? You sound like a whiny pre-teen.

Glad to see the series back on track! Who's next???

Too much going on - including flashes of another woman's life, which were interesting - maybe more interesting than the purported heroine's. But as a result, the hero and heroine's relationship was given short-shrift. It wasn't adequately shown. In some ways, it was too much of a set-up of subsequent books with other couples.

Also, . That was too obvious a plot device.

Also Fila's relative who died changed from her great-grandmother to her grandmother ...

I liked the plot. I love westerns and I love how the main character wasn't some damsel in distress. she could take care of herself and was fiercely independent.

This is the fifth book set in Chance Creek by author Cora Seton. While the book does feature characters from the previous novels, it can certainly be read as a stand alone. Rose has been engaged to Jason for 6 years and has realized she is tired of waiting and being told how to live her life. Jason apparently has also changed over the years and sadly has forgotten to tell Rose. But now Rose is attracted to another man but she is still feeling out of control of her life. Rose and Cab have some obstacles to overcome but they both want the same thing, each other. This was a fun contemporary romance with a secondary plot involving Fila and her quest for freedom. I imagine future books might include Fila finding romance, or at least I hope so. Looking forward to more Chance Creek cowboys!

What a great story! I loved the bit of action and suspense thrown in with Fila's story even though she wasn't the main character. Cab (what kind of man is that?) surprised me by learning not to be overly bossy with Rose. It was great!

I'll have to find the previous books in the series, and definitely get tH next one cause hannah cracked me up with her bison-stealing :)

Cab is the local sheriff who has always been interested in Rose. The only problem is that Rose is engaged to someone else. Rose knows that she needs to end her engagement, but she's having a hard time dealing with the guilt that she will get from her parents and her fiancée's father.

Cab is very protective of everyone in his life. He tries to help Rose, but he doesn't always do it in the best way. Most of the people in Rose's life want to control her. She assumes Cab does as well. While I do appreciate Rose's need for independence, she takes it a bit too far sometimes. Just because someone wants to help and protect you, it doesn't mean that they want to control you.

I didn't read the previous books in the series, but I was still able to follow along with all of the characters.

I loved The Sheriff Catches a Bride! This book may be my favorite Cora Seton romance so far! Rose and Cab are brilliant protagonists who absolutely shine with realism while all the supporting characters fit their roles perfectly. Rose needs space to be herself, Cab needs to protect her, and their friends are watching with amusement. And then there are terrorists …
Rated R for erotic love scenes.

I love this series, and in the other books grew to really like the characters of Cab and Rose. In this one, I enjoyed watching their relationship develop, and I liked most of the aspects of the storyline very much. I was a little puzzled by the way Rose built her hideaway on someone else's land. That seemed like something a kid would do, not a grown woman. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

This book surprised me and not quite in a good way. This was the first of Cora Seton's books that I read and while it is enough of a stand alone I felt like I struggled to be attached to these characters or root for their relationship...
And then there was the Taliban side plot which was how the story opened. I was so confused and at first excited at the prospect of the female lead being a refugee. Every chapter opened with another of these flashbacks which seemed a bit too huge compared to the lack-lustre lovestory occuring. It meant that each chapter you were pulled out of the relationship to a tense situation with Fila that made connecting with the primary love story harder and more disjointed.

I found the relationship poorly introduced so I was playing catch up trying to develop a connection to these characters. The 'hunches' Rose feels with engagement rings was strange and nonsensical. I can accept her having hunches when people buy rings for someone etc but when one person looks at it and someone else puts it on her finger she has a response? It was weird and I wasn't into it.

Based on the cover (I know, cardinal sin of reading) I was expecting a fun western small town world but I felt it was lacking. I wished the language was a bit more clearly country feeling. I wanted a sexy small town sheriff/cowboy story but I think I'll have to look elsewhere.

I felt like Rose was a bit of a doormat fighting internally to be an individual but she was so easily convinced to date Cab even when she found he was trying to coddle and control her the say way everyone in her life always had. If she had just approached the relationship as purely sexual so she could work on herself after leaving a 6 YEAR engagment I might understand it more. Also she had no qualms squatting on someone else's land?

Cab was fine, his struggle with what he'd witnessed of a attempted murder was a strong explanation of his protectiveness and fears. He was a bit too traditional for my taste (and a bit of a presumptuous dick feeling owed answers and attention when she had already told him she needed to sort herself out).

I don't know how I feel about the portrayal of OCD, while it could be accurate to some people's experiences of it, it felt like it was being used to villify a character who was using his dead spouse card to get away with not working on himself or his mental health.

Overall I feel like this book was trying to do too much and address a lot of bigger things and wasn't all that successful at it. 2 yeehaws out of 5. The climax of book is weird but interesting and I didn't really care about the characters but it wasn't awful.

I really enjoyed this audio from the romance to the danger the author pulls you in taking you on an adventure you won’t forget for some time. Rose is a wonderful character so full of life but with so many trying to control it she is left with little choice but to let them. That is until the day comes she has had enough which adds to a turn of events that makes her finally lose that tight control she has been holding on to. It leads to a chain reaction that will turn her world upside down. Jason and her must set down and work out their relation which isn’t easy on Cab who has been waiting in the wings for so many years. When a mystery woman comes on the scene leading danger right to their doorstep leaving a town in dismay and people running for their lives.

The narrator was really good the only issue I have with her narration is when she ends a sentence she kind of drags it and I didn’t like the way she said Autumn at first I thought she was saying Adam and was confused if this was male or female. Beside that it was an outstanding listen that held my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. There are no repeating of words, no volume changes and no background noises just a clean, clear listen. Her male and female characters are good, easy to understand and tell who is talking. She gives true emotions to her characters that you can feel what they are feeling. She really gave the audio life through her voice and emotions.

I just loved Cab he is strong and demanding but still very gentle and loving. He loves to take care of people which gets him in trouble with Rose. Jason I didn’t care too much for him at first but once you get to understand him and what he is up to he grows on you. His father humm he had me saying some very nasty words I doubt I could be as nice to him as she was. Rose is a wonderful character and Mia just broke my heart. I felt I knew these ladies and just where they are coming from. I doubt you can listen to this story without some strong feeling and emotions. I really enjoyed getting to know all these characters a few I really liked and some not so much. It is a very emotional listen from many points and I feel you will totally enjoy this as the author pulls you in taking over your mind with many hours of pleasure as the story comes to life with many twists and turns you won’t see coming and a few surprises along the way. I loved the plot, the characters, it was thrilling, with adventure, a few shocks and some thrills. This will be an audio that I will listen too again. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.

I tried. I really tried. I had high hopes for this book. I love her other books that I've read, and maybe if I'dstarted this series from the beginning I'd be more invested in the side characters, but this book is putting me into another reading slump.

I started reading the ebook, got beyond confused, so I purchased the audiobook thinking putting voices to the people would help.... Nope! That confused me even more. I was excited thinking the female lead was Fila, but again nope. When Cab is introduced taking about his unrequited feelings for Rose, even though she's engaged, i was hoping that was a setup for a relationship with the runaway bride... oh how wrong I was.

I am not a fan of a dual storyline, and this was no exception. It was distracting to say the least. Once it was made clear that Fila wasn't the love interest, i kinda stopped caring about her. Not because her story wasn't interesting, but because it now feels like her story was an after thought or a throw away plot for a different kind of book.

I made it to about 50% of the way through the audiobook before I just gave up. Cab lacked basic communication skills to explain how reasoning for some things. And mansplaining how to build a shed doesn't count. Rose, excuse my words here please, is to stupid to live. You want to be independent, so you think that anyone wanting to offer help is trying to control you. In Rose's mind that also means, if a man says it he's trying to control her so lashout, but if a woman says the same thing it feels controlling but she's just concerned 🤔🤨😒? Not feeling it. Then to add to this foolishness, she's squatting on private property, hoping no one will notice, but it never crossed your mind to do it on your friends land or to ask the owner for permission and offer to pay rent? The crazy doesn't end there though. You allow your family to "convince you" to keep renting from a person who uses his illness as an excuse to invade your privacy and destroy your property, all in the name of keeping the peace. I'd say I'd you want to be independent, start by being more assertive with that rather than being mad at others who simply offer up their opinion. That's a horrible thing to do to people who have good intentions, even if you don't want the opinion they're giving.

This was just an all around bad read for me. The female lead was my last favorite character ever, the male lead was confusing and an alphahole, and Fila's storyline was an unnecessary filler. I hate giving bad reviews or DNFing a book but nothing in me would allow me to finish this.

There are two stories playing out in this book and they intertwine in a very unusual way. We get a glimpse of one of those stories throughout the book. Fila is escaping from her guards, they have brought her to America to marry one of their brethren. She wants nothing to do with it and has a plan.

The other starts with Cab, Rob, Ethan and Jamie supposedly running an errand. Instead Cab finds himself at Thayer's Jewelry store.
Cab is a little more than in love with Rose, but she is taken and has been for six years.

Rose is engaged to Jason Thayer, who is off making his fortune in the oil fields. His father owns the jewelry store. Rose works there and rents the carriage house situated behind his father's place. Now Cab is going into the store with his friends and once again Rob pulls a stunt. One that surprises and shocks both Rose and Cab.

It's Rose who has to do some major thinking now. She didn't know about her ability to predict a happy couple when Jason put the gold circlet on her finger. She'd felt nothing then, but she certainly did when the ring Cab picked out went on her finger.

She should have broken off this long engagement a while ago, but the time never seemed right. She needed to find another job, a new apartment and start over. She would need a job, but then she could work on her art, without her parents, Jason or his father telling her it was a waste of time. Jason's father Emory frequently stops by her place, sometimes even when she's not there. He has OCD and will straighten up even though she's told him not to, repeatedly. What she needs right now is a place to be alone. She plans out a tree house, and finds the perfect spot for it, away from Emory and everyone. She just has to keep it secret.

As all this unfolds we meet up with Hannah again and meet Mia who has a problem of her own, all while following Fila's journey from Afghanistan.

Fast-paced, fun, scary, romantic, and even a bit terrifying at times. Don't miss this book!

In book five in the Cowboys of Chance Creek series, Rose Bellingham is engaged to her high school sweetheart whom she no longer loves. She works at her fiancé’s father’s jewelry store and lives on the elderly man’s property, and she always puts other people’s needs—especially men’s—before her own.
Sheriff Cab Johnson is smitten with Rose, but since she’s engaged, she’s off-limits. That doesn’t stop him from dreaming about her or stop his friends from pushing him and Rose together.
I love these characters and their chemistry—WOW! My favorite scene was their pool game, which was both hilarious and sexy.
Rose is a such a surprisingly strong woman. Even though she had a history of kowtowing to men, she quickly matured and developed a backbone.
Cab is the strong, silent type. He wants nothing more than to protect Rose, but he was man-enough to ease up and let her live her own life.
Unlike the other books in this series, so far, there is a third main character with scenes in her POV. Fila is an American who was kidnapped and held captive for years in Afghanistan. After she finally escaped with the aid of Aria’s House—an organization that helps girls and women escape unwanted arranged marriages—she made her way to Montana. I enjoyed these scenes just as much as the main story line, but the action finally revved up once the lines merged. There are a few unanswered questions dealing with Fila and the men following her, so I hope they’ll be wrapped up in future books.
As for the editing, sometimes a character’s dialogue and another character’s thoughts were in the same paragraph, which led to confusion and re-reading.
Jake and Hannah’s story is up next, but I’m really looking forward to learning more about Fila.

This book did NOT work! It was all over the place and felt like a mandatory write instead of a labor of love. The premise with most of Seton's books is the same, but this just missed the mark - by a lot! It was cliched, scattered and overall unfair to Cab who had waited patiently enough for his turn.

There's also an additional story that pretty much comes out of nowhere in the series and is present from the beginning of this book. Once I realized that it really wasn't going to have a lot to do with the main plot I started skimming those bits. I really just didn't care. In another area, I would have loved to hear about Fila and her struggles, but when I pick up a romance novel - especially one by Seton who is VERY true to form normally - I don't want to hear about real life struggles and terrorism. What?? Where did any of that come from and WHY is it in my romance novel?

Not to mention that there's VERY little chemistry between Cab and Rose AND it's all rushed/barely alluded to for most of the book. She's super spineless and annoying for A LOT of the book. What is it going to take for her to speak her mind and CONTINUE to do so? Why wouldn't she press charges? Plus it's SUPER implausible that she was building that tree house by herself.

And lastly, when I read the blurb about your book, I expect your book to BE ABOUT THE BLURB!!!! This is TOTALLY not the case in this book. I was halfway through and wondering if I had mistaken this book for another one based on the fact that the blurb clearly paints a different picture than what we actually get. I want to book in the blurb, not this hot mess hodge podge of a story.

This one annoyed me a bunch.

Rose was trying to be so independent that she was honestly STUPID and was breaking the law. (Which she was never called on about)

Cab was so freaked out over the last case he worked that he was seriously overbearing, only he neglected to mention WHY he was being so over protective until nearly the end of the book. Honestly would it have killed him to say "Sorry sweetie, there was a serial killer loose and I saw what he did to his last victim, and it has me a little freaked out because I care."
No, instead he just kept pushing pushing pushing.

All to create the romantic drama necessary to be a romance book. It got old, fast.

The Fila storyline was interesting, but had many plot holes.

It all culminated in a big terrorist incident in Chance Creek, because they hunted her down. HOW THE FUCK DID THEY FIND HER?
Honestly, unless they have all CC tv cameras tapped at JFK airport, they wouldn't have figured out where she went. Then again in Washington D.C. . Then again in Chicago.

Seriously, what made them know that she was heading towards Chance Creek, and arrive THE SAME DAY she did??

That plot hole really bothered me.

I will continue the series, but this one was definitely not as good. Oh, and thank goodness Claire was barely in it. She still pisses me off.

Rose and Cab

Rose got engaged to Jason right after graduation and for those almost the whole six years since he has lived in North Dakota where he moved to work in the oil fields. He hasn't been back to Chance Creek but maybe twice a year since. In the beginning he texted or called every day but now if she calls him, he seems put out or too mad she called to talk and she's tired of it and alot of other things. Such as Emory her future father-in-law! He offered to let her move into the carriage house behind his home at a reduced rate and he is also her boss at the jewelry store. However, that doesn't give him the right to parent her, nor come into her home and clean and rearrange things just because his wife died 10 years ago! That's why she left her parents home to be able to have her own life! She's almost at a breaking point. She's come to the conclusion that breaking up with Jason is what's best for her! Now she has someone else trying to "boss" her, the Sheriff, Cab. Sure he means well, but, really? The worst part is she has always had a crush on him! Now what? She develops a great plan, she hopes! Then Emory does something that breaks the proverbial camel's back! She won't continue living like this! She just won't!!! What happened? What's her plan? Will Cab get the message? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Cora Seton to find out!

the sheriff catches a bride

This is book 5band honestly you can read it by itself but if you want to know more about he other couples you want start at 1.
This cab and roses story.
Cab is local sheriff he has a crush on Rose but is confirmed bachelor or at least that’s what he says. He’s offer to watch Cars house for couple months. He can’t keep his mind away from Rose. Problem is she is in gaged.
Rose is stuck at job she doesn’t really like working for her fiancé’s. Father living at his place . She has a hidden/ not so hidden talent of holding a ring knowing if people will have lasting marriage. She’s stuck not happy. After having a ring put in her fingers by Cab as joke by Rob she sees/feels a feature she didn’t when she put her own engagement ring on .
These two have attraction /chemistry. There is some drama danger and mystery with Fela . As we learn about her in little bits.
I wanted to love this story as I had read many books that had this couple in it but I found myself not liking how Rose acted before breaking with her fiancé. She put herself and others in danger with her action. Also took way too long to break it off w/ex. Some twist that made clear not all bad guys are bad not all victims are who though think. But it is good book in all.
This story did have happy ending I will be reading next book

Exciting addition to the Cowboys of Chance Creek series!

Cab has been waiting a long time for Rose to realize she was engaged to the wrong guy. Hopefully she will do so soon. In the meantime, she has some secrets, and as sheriff, Cab doesn't care for secrets. Rose is tired of waiting for her fiance, and of everyone telling her what to do. But when she does finally do something on her own, things do not work out as planned! There is a secondary storyline in this that is just as intriguing and engrossing as the main one.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The characters are vivid and engaging. Seeing previous characters and meeting new ones is so !ugh fun. So far, I think I like this one the best out of the Cowboys of Chance Creek series. Read these in order from #0 The Cowboy Inherits a Bride to the end. Then read the Heroes of Chance Creek in order, the SEALs of Chance Creek, the Brides of Chance Creek, The Turners vs... (can't remember the other name) before you get to the 2 newest Chance Creek series: Holidays in Chance Creek and the one about buying a house SEAL included. This story had more action in it, but still has a ton of emotional content. Enjoy!

After the last book in the series was worried about we're the author would go next. Thankfully she takes us back to the next door neighbors of the couple we stared with. Thankfully the heroine in that book is now fully calm and fits with the other characters.

The main characters in this one were interesting because of how shy they both were. I could understand the hesitation by the hero because of the heroine's situation which thankfully changes. The heroine really had no idea about the hero's feeling's or her. Then again I think it was more of her sub-conscience which was holding her back due to her relationship status. I'm glad these two were starting to be more insistent towards the end of the book about things.

What confused me all to hell was the introduction of another sub character at the start of the story and how hat was done. Further I still can't grasp of why someone would want to build a treehouse when they are an adult. These two concepts were very confusing to me even though I know why the author put the treehouse concept there, but it wasn't at all believable but thankfully the chemistry and other plot lines made up for these two things.

This was an ok read. The whole Taliban story seemed out of place to me. I didn't feel any real chemistry between Cab and Rose. They seemed much older than mid to late 20's, while at the same time exhibiting a level of immaturity of people much younger than mid twenties.

I didn't like Rose and that didn't change as I read further into the book. I got so sick of her complaining about people telling her what to do, and being rude to Cab. Then she turned from ice queen to sex on stick so fast it made my head spin. I kind of felt sorry for the guy.

The whole situation with Rose, Mia, and Hannah wanting a tree house in the woods was ridiculous. And, even more ridiculous was keeping it secret from everyone.

Then we have the bison issue and the scene when ALL of the ridiculousness comes to a head. By this time, I didn't even care if Cab and Rose got together.

To be honest, I started out giving this book a 3 star rating. As I wrote the review, I realized how silly it all was and dropped to 2 stars. I normally enjoy Cora Seton's work, but I don't know what happened with this one.

The sheriff catches a bride

I very seldom give bad reviews. Always try to give the author credit for writing a story. Extremely confusing book. I got to about pg 110. Very disappointed with this book and this author. Don’t understand how this is a romance when its about two totally different women living totally different lives. One escaping the cruel life of Afghanistan (how is this romance?) the other is an uptight woman engaged to a man that lives in a totally different state then she, and his father rents her a place to live that he enters and cleans and rearranges her things bc he’s OCD? Again how is this romance? Oh well maybe if I finished the book she might end up not engaged to this man who lives states away from her and married or engaged to the sheriff who has a huge crush on her and is a gentleman but she sees his actions as intrusive. I don’t think so. Not finishing this book. Totally not romance. Good thing I didn’t pay for it. Not a good book
