[Maruboomi]

Rate this book

This is the first time I'm reading Ajithan's work. Short stories set up in different bases, that revolves the same concept, death. Few stories will leave you with a content smile and some will make you contemplate life. My personal favourite was Mudiyattam. Those who are fond of Yakshi story genre will definitely like this one. Ayirathi munnootri padhinangu kappalgal will fondly remind you of those rainy childhood days. A worthy read!

Read Marubhoomi story yesterday. It is a intense reading experience. Where, The reader experience a deep silence. Nothing short of a masterpiece and an earnest tribute to his Guru, Maniratnam.

Unlike his first Novel, the sentence structure has evolved. Its sharp with few words as of Jeyamohan. The author himsef has evolved. In the introduction of the book, Ajithan talks about "objectifiation of the platonic idea" as his artistic goal. With Marubhoomi the reader realizes Ajithan succeeded in objectification of the concept of death. Hopes are so high when we acknowledge its his first series of published stories.
