The Space Between Them, a psychological thriller that blurs the lines between reality and delusion, explores themes of accountability, forgiveness, and vengeance.
Artist and college student, Hayley Crowe, no longer lives in Alaska, home to her traumatic childhood, but rather the Midwest. An unwavering will to not let her past be defined by journalists, internet sleuths, and everyone in between lives inside of her. She’s managed to start over, protect her peace, and shut off her (lack of) memory. With a new legal name, new home, and promising clean slate, Hayley’s life is finally better…until it isn’t.
The details of that night slowly resurface, along with moments of paralyzing paranoia and fear, blurring the lines between reality and delusion. Within a matter of months, Hayley’s biggest fear comes the media commentators may be right. She may be more like her convicted-for-murder mom than she thought.A story that reminds us that there’s heaviness in remembering and healing family relationships first starts with acknowledgement, The Space Between Them takes readers through twists and turns to unravel what really happened that cold night in Alaska.
I didn’t care about any of the characters, there was no development of them or of the storyline really. I found myself speed reading and skipping paragraphs throughout the middle of the book just to get to something interesting or closer to the end. It left so many unanswered questions (I didn’t bother tracking down the epilogue online so don’t know if any were addressed) and the villains themselves were hollow and their motive was not believable.m to me. Honestly, and I hate to say it, the book was just not good and I’m so glad I’m done with it and that it was free.
This book started good, but ended up falling short. Haley Crowe left Alaska and moved ton MN after a traumatic event which was not discussed too late in the book. She became a painter and found some success. Then her dead twin sister began to haunt her. Her mother, Victoria, accused and convicted of her killing. Then it went downhill fast. Characters were introduced that fall short (Brandon – is he still as the airport??), and then mystery became unbelievable, and then time between the sister’s death and the resolution and how it tried to resolve fell short.
The story kept me turning the page, but the ending was poorly executed and there were so many typos and issues with sentence structure that I just couldn’t give it more than 2 stars.
Once I started this book, after a couple chapters I didn’t want to put it down. I don’t tend to read many thrillers, and I really enjoyed this! I connected well with the discussion questions at the end and it gave me even more to think about, in an intriguing way, not in the sense that the story was left hanging. I would recommend this book to everyone.
This book was a real disappointment. It was recommended by a reader in one of the Facebook groups I am in. Allegedly this was a psychological thriller but it really is a psychological dud. The psychology was completely wrong. The things that happened were not even close to reality. And the ending was horrible! Hayley is a survivor of a horrible crime when she is 7 years old that happened in Alaska. Fast forward 15 years and Hayley is living in Minnesota as an artist. She starts to see people and things that are not there and she feels like she more be more like her mother than she is comfortable being. After vowing never to go back to Alaska and never to see her mother ever again, she goes back to Alaska and reunites with her mother all is forgiven. The story is all so disconnected. I was hoping for a great ending but that did not happen. I am so thankful that the book is finished!
WOW. I literally cannot express how IMPRESSED I am with the complexity of this phenomenal novel. It took me all of two days to read from start to finish. I could not put it down. Every page brought forth more twists and turns to the plot of the story. I am not the type to read thrillers, but this book pulled me in effortlessly. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a thrilling novel that will keep you on your toes.
This book was a suspenseful read that had me questioning the direction it was going to take until the very end. I definitely had some unanswered questions at the end of the book (such as, did anyone ever pickup Brandon from the airport?!😉) and felt the ending was a bit rushed, but after reading the epilogue on Lindsay’s website I saw mention of a potential sequel which could hopefully help tie up any of the loose ends!
The amount of typos, grammatical errors and word repetition just irked me enough to really take me out of it. The story line was OK… not great. The ending was not wrapped very nicely at all.. what happened to Brandon? Did the schizophrenia mean anything at all or was it a red herring? Just one of my least favorites of the year so far.

It took me a little bit to get into the story line, but once I did I was sucked in and couldn’t stop reading. The plot twists were unexpected and captivating up until the very end. I wasn’t ready for it to be over. A great read!
Too many unanswered questions… and what was the point of her boyfriend? It was an easy read and interesting enough, but don’t understand why a lot of the things were left how they were… maybe awaiting a sequel? 🤷🏼♀️
This book has potential to be so much more. Repeated itself way too much. Author could have moved the story along and had a better story altogether. I’m very displeased I pushed all the way through for that ending!!!
This book was really good. It got me interested in the plot line right away. It was both intriguing and suspenseful! I finished it in two days because I couldn’t put it down.
