The infamous Archweasel McGreed and his evil troops plot to invade Bear Country by hiding inside of a giant Trojan Pumpkin, and the Bear Scouts must foil his plan or risk losing every honey pot in town. Original.
Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.
These four Berenstain Bear Scouts chapters are in one binding for us. Having read through each other the last month with my son has been quite fun. I hadn't read the chapter versions before and enjoyed longer storylines with themes of problem solving, and bigger picture issues of morals than what we can find in the picture book versions. This specific story encourages us to do the right thing with the understanding that you can't claim to have done anything. I like that. You do what is right because it's the right thing to do, not to brag about it. My son constantly found comparisons to his own badge earning through Trail Life USA, keeping each story, though fictitious, often applicable to his own understanding of merits.
I personally view the Berenstain Bears as a combination of the Simpsons mixed with The Country Bears. Just a thought. Although I do have to admit that the writing style of the Berenstain books is formulaic, at the same time it does have this charm that while it doesn't leave a huge impact on you, it is an okay book series to read to your kids. I think it is very demonstrated in this book that while it does teach a valuable lesson at the end, the story and characters are just too cookie cutter for you to get fully invested in them. Now considering that I did read some of the shorter books back in my childhood, I can't really bash this book series too much, but this book in particular won't be one that I revisit often around the Autumn season. It's relevance to Autumn only comes in around the beginning and the mere end of the book. If you are looking for an easy to read children's book around this spooky time of year than this one is fine, I guess ,but I would probably more recommend you read 'The Berenstain Bears: Trick or Treat' book as it is a much faster read that gets you more excited for the spooky holiday.
Another fun one! These books go by super quick, all in one sitting. Fun, and to the point. I read this at the beginning of summer but this book definitely gives fall vibes!
