I have made the wonton soup and the Greek lemon soup so far, and both were delicious. My child enjoyed the Greek lemon soup so much it is now part of their cooking repertoire at college. I like the thoughtfully designed menus for each week, offering a good mix of options like making at home, store bought, or even going out.

I love the format of the book. Recipes are listed by season. There are weekly menus. I made the French Onion Soup and it was simple and delicious.

I really enjoyed her approach to meal planning and hospitality. I’ll try some of her recipes. Her weekly menu plans would be helpful to many people! I’m vegetarian and most of our meals are plant based, so her weekly plans don’t work for me. However, her philosophy of planning will work for any dietary preference.

This is more of a cookbook than I realized when I started it. But it was helpful to see how she meal plans to include a Sabbath rhythm.

This book is wonderful mix of recipes and meal planning combined with practical and easy ways to embrace the sabbath in our homes. Kathi is the Christian mentor we all wish we had. Her advice is simple and nonjudgmental and served up with a slice of her real life experiences just so we know that we are not alone. If you are looking for a way to slow down and enjoy a sabbath rest with your family this book shows you how. Kathi even did the hard work of meal planning. #winning

People try hard to find connections and commonalities. Soup is one of thoes nourishing and comfort topics to bond over. Am anticipating the continued blessings and potential connections that will blossom as a result of Kathi's newest book Sabbath Soup: Weekly Menus and Rhythms to Make Space for a Day of Rest, is released. Currwntly, am blessed the abridged PFD copy to read and test out a few recipes before book's offical launch date (October 2024).

Yes, this book can be considered a cook book, however it already seems so much more beyond that. With the variety of recipes (not only soup) in this book, we can continue to meal plan and prep for household needs introducing new recipes and the concept of Sabath so helpful is. And definitely looking forward the benifits to in using entire weekly meal plans as Kathi has laid out so clearly this book in to start establishing success when laying foundations when incorporating Sabbath in our week.

The concept to notice rhythms and routines from our lives than allows us to build in Sabbath (rest and rejuvenation) time. A step that can't wait to learn more about when the physical book arrives.

Have already made two separate batches of Kathi's Wonton Soup and plan to enjoy the White Chicken Chili while resting during Sunday football games.m this week.

Kathi continues to bless our lives with yet another gem. Thank you.

I haven’t yet tried any recipes or even the menu planning format that she encourages in order to have a Sabbath rest from cooking - but I enjoyed reading through the books which is mainly recipes but thoughtful sections before each season. I think it will be a great way of blending certain desires (like having a day of rest; cooking enough for more than one meal) with great ideas for making it practical (serve leftovers in a purposeful way, two days later instead of the next day - my boys bulk at eating leftovers the next night even if they loved it the first time but two days later they are fans again 😂).

What a beautiful book! What I love about Kathi Lipp is that her methods are for real people! Small doable steps to take care of your future self that make a huge difference!

This book happens to be about soup, but more than that it’s about a simple way of planning for rest and connection. Preparing a simple meal ahead of time so that you have a day of rest.

This book is full of simple, yummy recipes as well as full meal plans, and even rhythms of shopping and meal planning. Plus there are beautiful pictures!

I really enjoyed this book! Kathi's perspective, from when I first met her as a speaker at my MOPS group, has been to help us simplify life so that we can have the time, space and energy to enjoy it more. This cookbook has a great layout, and I appreciated the stories and thoughts behind every detail in this book. The weekly menus are easy to implement and adjust to meet my family's needs and tastes. I am currently about to make the white chicken chili recipe and look forward to sharing this meal with my family!

It's still a little warm for soup in Southern Texas, but I'm savoring the recipes in the abridged version I've been able to read online. I love Kathi's new homestead/food books. They've done a great job with layout and photography. It's a feast for the eyes, and as soon as the weather cools a bit, I look forward to a feast for the tummy. Beyond recipes, this book encourages Mom to take a Sabbath along with the whole family. Having soup prepared in advance is one way to do that. Kathi sprinkles the recipes with her commentary on Sabbath. I look forward to seeing the final version of the book.

This book comes along just as I'm seeking some time to step away from my every day and reset. It's a book of comfort, of encouragement and one that gives you permission to rest.

Kathi is personable and inviting, and just gets it. And sometimes we need a reminder to nourish our body, mind, soul, and spirit. This is the gentle nudge I needed.

The vibrant photos of the meals will inspire you want to whip up every one of them. I'm planning to make the wonton soup this coming week as the weather turns cooler. A hug in a mug.

Sabbath Soup is not only a feast for one’s appetite but also one’s soul. More than a cookbook, Sabbath Soup is a collection of recipes (that won’t break the bank or take ages to make) served up with meal plans that compliment practical ways to implement Sabbath rest. Kathi Lipp is well known for her strategies to simplify life and this newest book is stocked full of her usual wisdom and mentorship, ushering readers towards a slower pace of life, while still offering Christian hospitality and ministry.

This is a beautiful book, and all of the recipes I've tried have been loved by the entire family. I like the format of stretching and adapting leftovers into new meals. There is no way it would be restful for me to do ALL the recipes in a weekly plan as presented, so I slashed the menu pretty heavily, but I love that there is a lot to work with to remain flexible during the week. For example, I skipped the special Sunday breakfast but used it as a special treat for one of my children's birthdays later in the week.

I don’t think the author’s meal planning/cooking methods are a good fit for my current life situation (I have a lot less time/energy, not to mention a smaller budget, plus kids to feed), but it’s still interesting to hear what others have found to work for them. Many of the recipes look yummy, and I like the way they are sorted out seasonally. Some recipes are repeated in multiple sections, but that’s actually really handy - reduces a lot of flipping back and forth. I also like the hygge-type lists of ideas for savoring each season.

5/5 stars, easily. I borrowed this from the library, but will definitely be buying this one for my cookbook shelf! This is the epitome of an ideal cookbook to me: simplified, organized, ordinary ingredients, a mix of comfort food, fresh food, classics and twists on classics. And the prayers and seasonal snippets are incredible! This book captures the ministry of food with sprinkles of humor and a large dash of do-ability — chef’s kiss!
(This book may not be conducive to certain allergies or dietary restrictions. Also, many recipes use an air fryer.)

I love everything about this book. The recipes to make a nice warm soup and how to get it all ready so you can enjoy a nice Sabbath rest having your pot of soup all prepared in advance. Kathi Lipp really went out of her way in not only providing for us the soup recipes but weekly menus and how to use the leftovers. Oh, and not to forget, the beautiful pictures of the many soups included in this book.

Excellent! Must-have book! I have the privilege of getting to read an abridged copy of the book before launch and it is wonderful. Great recipes, good reading and tips. Kathi Lipp just has a way of writing that lets you know you can do anything! She is an encourager and a friend to her readers. I can’t wait to make more recipes. As the colder weather approaches here in the Midwest, Sabbath Soup will be a staple book of recipes and more for our football-loving family weekends.

I'm reading an abridged copy of this book and so appreciate all of the ideas. The author shows how to methodically organize meal prep, diving into how pre-planning enables us time to actually rest each week. The book has recipes for each season, including special holidays along the way, and they are easy to follow. This is a fun read; it's a combination of a great cookbook, organizational tips and encouragement.

By following Kathi’s simple steps during the week, we can take a true day of rest! As a busy mom and wife, I truly appreciate this approach to cooking. I love Kathi Lipp! She is so relatable and encouraging. Sometimes I need things spelled out for me. Meal planning is one of those things, and Kathy has taken the guesswork and indecision out of preparing meals and using your time well so you can slow down and really experience Sabbath rest. I am excited to start implementing ideas and recipes from this book.

I am really enjoying this book. I love to make soup and these recipes look fantastic. But there is so much more content here as well. It is beautifully organized and accessible, perfect for a leisurely read or to quickly reference a recipe when needed. I am looking forward to making the roasted butternut squash soup this week.

I love Kathi's resources, because they are so approachable and relatable. I know when I open one of her books, I'm going to find something that I can put to use in my very real, normal life. Not to mention, this book is put together beautifully and just a pretty book in general. The photography is amazing. Bravo Kathi and team and thanks for giving us new things for our home toolboxes!

I love everything about this newest book from Kathi Lipp!
The recipes themselves are enough reason to get this book but it is so much more. The exploration of what Sabbath means, the invitation to rest, the rhythm of the seasons are a beautiful feast and gift for the reader. You will consume this book and look forward to having it as a good friend for years to come! Thanks Kathi!

“Sabbath Soup” by Kathi Lipp has devotionals, prayers, and Scripture to inspire your day of rest. It is also full of delicious recipes (much more than soup!), gorgeous photos, and even meal plans to make every day better. Like all of Kathi Lipp’s books, spirituality meets practicality in “Sabbath Soup.”

The central idea here is good; I practice it already. I guess I was hoping for more simple, economical, large family friendly soup recipes. Most of these menus weren't practical for my family and several recipes contain ingredients that weren't in season for the season specified (ex fresh corn in winter) or not economical (ex having to purchase 48 pre-made frozen mini wontons)

Great concept, but got little from it other than her initial schedule.

I can’t get over the fact that she said nothing “fussy” would be in the one chapter, then proceeded to explain how to make risotto…

The book is in 4 sections, one for each season with 6 weeks of menu plans/recipes in each focusing on a different soup each week. Not a lot of pictures and there are quite a few recipes that are repeated throughout the book 4-5 times. Personal stories and scripture used.
