Surf's Up in the City of Angels

Rate this book
Doctor Richard Schmidt forms a "Generic Therapy Group". All the good Doctor hopes to do is tip the scales of hate and chaos toward the side of love, mercy and forgiveness. When these characters meet, angels and devils are difficult to tell apart. With each comes a collection of friends, family and plots that confirm California is indeed the fated "Land of Fruits and Nuts".

In this work, which did not seem extensive to me at all, since I read it almost in two sittings, I found the wonderful pen of James Scott Lafon, who makes this book read with great ease. The author stands out not only for what he says but also for how he says it. He knows how to express himself, and that is how it is captured on paper.

The novel invites us to question our perceptions of good and evil as the characters oscillate between both extremes. I found the plot captivating; it focuses on the "Generic Therapy Group" created by Dr. Schmidt, whose mission is to transform hate and chaos into love, mercy, and forgiveness. I greatly enjoyed this novel for its originality and unforgettable characters. Without a doubt, this is a read that I would recommend to any lover of intelligent and provocative fiction.

Surf's Up in the City of Angels is an amazing book that I highly recommend, this incredible journey is so entertaining that it kept me reading for hours. The thing I enjoyed the most is the author's story telling; it is so rich and full of magic that I felt immersed in the environment, it shows a unique concoction of characters navigating the blurred lines between angels and devils in the City of Angels. The richly crafted characters and their intertwining lives mirror the eclectic nature of California, earning it the title "Land of Fruits and Nuts." From my point of view, I really understand how the author does not just deliver an interesting book, I saw between lines the exploration of love, mercy, and forgiveness, which made it more real and made me, as a reader, to create a deeper connection with this read.

This captivating book delves into the dual nature of its main characters, skillfully exploring the delicate balance between good and evil. The narrative combines and explores the characters' interdependence, highlighting their inability to exist independently. The author's storytelling ability and expertise gives life to the characters' adventures, offering both entertainment and a thought-provoking reflection on how related are these two opposing forces. The dialogues and interactions add an engaging layer, making it a compelling exploration of human nature within a compelling story. This novel is original and different from what I have been reading lately so it came to me as a welcome and unexpected surprise. I enjoyed it a lot and I would like to continue reading more from this author.

This book is a fun and entertaining mix that I really enjoyed. The story revolves around the dual nature of the main characters, exploring the balance between good and evil. It shows how the characters tend to depend on each other being unable to exist independently. The character´s adventures and the author´s narrative keep the story alive, and provide not only entertainment but also prompt readers to reflect on the interconnectedness of these two opposing forces. From my perspective, this is a captivating story that carries with it an exploration of human nature, wrapped in a fluid and unpredictable narrative.

This is a glimpse into the lives of several very different people in LA. It's somewhat interesting to see their lives and the way they intersect, although you would think they have nothing in common. But, it really doesn't go into any depth. It's just small slices of their lives with no real climax. There was no real ending, just a what might have happened, in a short, numbered paragraph for each character encountered. No real fulfillment in reading this book. #GoodreadsGiveaways
