The search for the pieces of Charlotte’s magical handbook is on, but it’s not an easy task.
With all the pages torn out and spread throughout the city, Charlotte, Sir Thomas, and Kat will have to track the pages down one by one.
That should be easy, right? Wrong.
The pages are falling into the wrong hands with dark consequences.
But they are finding something on earth they shouldn’t be finding – pockets of magic everywhere as well as more and more displaced people and animals from the Ever After.
Meanwhile, Alex is working on a case which shakes him to the core. Someone is replaying the story of Hansel and Gretel. Will the missing children leave behind clues?
Charlotte offers to help and to be closer to Alex. Together they can figure out what’s going on with the case – and each other.
Can the unlikely pair track down the magic pages of the handbook, clues about the missing children, and figure out what the Snow Queen is up to before it’s too late?
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
I had to give this book 4 stars, as I did the first book as, once again, there were little inconsistencies that niggled at me
In this story, Charlotte, Sir Thomas, and Cat, go out into Cincinnati, to look for another page from Charlotte's Fairy Godmother Handbook.
Detective Alex Taylor, the policeman who has been helping her since the portal stole her away from EverAfter, two weeks previously, and dropped her into the City of Cincinnati, has now gone back to work, and so Charlotte is detetmined to use this time to search for more pages of her book.
Charlotte worked out a fairly simple spell that draws a map of the City, showing where all the pages have landed.
But life isn't that simple. Charlotte and her companions go to the nearest spot that shows where a page has landed up in, only to discover that the page is deep within the earth.
What they find there, on that journey, brings many more questions to Charlotte than she can find answers for but, with the help of her fellow EverAfteran, Peter Pan, and a group of other citizens from their own time and place, Charlotte is determined to fix at least one of the problems that she caused in her search for the pages of her book.
This second book is a bit clearer as to plot, character, and the whole makeup of both Charlotte's world, and her new place, on Earth.
There are still a few niggles, but not enough to deter me from continuing to read on with the series, so I'll be going on from here, to Book Three: 'Spells, Wishes, & Trouble', to see what's going to happen next.
So, once I've done so, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about this next adventure!
Charlotte and crew go looking for the handbook pages
Using a map spell Charlotte, Sir Thomas and Cat start looking at the lost pages. They decide to go to the closest spot on the map that indicates a lost page. They end up below ground in mining tunnels. Read to see what they find!
Congratulations to Martha Carr and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such intexresting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
Each book in this series improves the closeness of the characters which improves my understanding of their personality and how everyone relates within each group. Damien is still difficult to figure out but he was introduced in this book and I am still trying to figure him out. He certainly doesn't try to make himself understood!
Charlotte has finally found a way to track down the missing pages of her spellbook, but in tracking down a page she meets a dwarf and adds more mysteries to solve. I am enjoying this series, it has fun characters and interesting storylines.
DNF at 48% I honestly started to read this just because the first one was so ridiculous I wanted to see where it was going. But at this point, it's not even worth following anymore. I have books I want to read more amd I'm done wasting time on this series.
DNF. Gave up. I like the authors and liked the first book in the series. But couldn’t get involved in this one at all. Things were getting dragged out way too long. I started skipping paragraphs and then pages. I’m disappointed. Usually these writers are just fine. Not this time.
