Duhani and Versai shared an instalove. Duhani felt an immediate pull to Versai after seeing her in his families bar just being her beautiful kind of sad self. He was immediately smitten, and I am sucker for when the mc falls first. Versai left Miller's Pointe after her mother died, with no plans of returning because she felt like the town stole her mother's dreams. However, life had left her uninspired and had brought her home to find something that seemed to be missing. After all of these years she had never been able to put down roots. Finding herself running from town to town and her spirit told her to go home.
Duhani was a hood cowboy and I loved every minute of it. He was a city boy, that left his dangerous life where he was always looking over his shoulder, for a more simpler one in the country. Unfortunately Don, his brother had different plans and brought danger right to his door step. This part of the story felt unfinished. The people that were after Don were not mentioned again after they were handled, even though the author alluded to it being someone they knew. It felt like that loop was not closed. Duhani was a sexy, unbothered, decisive mc which is always a recipe for goodness to me. I love how he made it clear he did not care about the time they had known each other. They were in the fast lane TOGETHER and that was all that mattered and I loved that for them. Versai deserved that type of energy.
Versai was a song writer that had to turn in a song by Christmas. It was a miss that we didn't get a preview of the final song or even a reaction from the artist she wrote it for. She was supposed to sing it to Duhani, but that never happened which was another loop open. This story overall just felt unfinished, like there must be another part. Sis, I'm gonna need an epilogue or something because I need to know if Versai put up her running shoes for good?? Does she make amends with her family? I need answers lol. I rounded up because I felt connected to the characters, I was bought in to their quick azz love story and I would definitely read another story about them.
SN this did not give Christmas, but there were moments and they were sweet.
Duhani and Versai were perfect for each other, neither of them cared too much for people or the holidays. I didn’t get the Christmas vibe I was looking for but definitely gives you the country cowboy vibe. The Miller Pointe vibe in this book was slightly different from the other books so that caused a little bit of a disconnect for me.
I love a novella, but this one comes off as incomplete. The big issue was Versai relationship with her family. The issue with her sister and father was no addressed between the characters and was left unresolved.
So this installment in the series was not as Christmas-y as a couple of the other books. However, it did give you the full ranch experience. The terminology seems to be spot on with the birthing of the foals. Although Duhani had a past that involved him being heavily in the streets he loved everything about his ranch and what it afforded him. His mini horses caused more chaos and racket around the ranch than the normal-sized horses. Versai was his match because she may have grown up in Miller's Pointe she wasn't exactly a cowgirl. She adapted quickly and fell in love with Linda one of his female horses. She wanted to keep her male foal and name him. Duhani and Versai had one major similarity which was worrisome family members. Duhani's brother was selfish in how he moved with his chosen profession. His actions put his family in harm's way. Versai's sister thought just because she stayed in Miller's Pointe, settled down, and married that she was better than her. It was obvious that her life wasn't all peaches and cream like she tried to portray. I was also surprised at how gullible Versai's father was in believing his other daughter about Versai. He should have been man enough to ask and pry to get an honest conversation from his daughter on why she was a "runner." Versai was able to open up to Duhani about why moved as she did. Duhani convinced her to stay in Miller's Pointe so it was a win-win for both parties.
If you are looking to read a country experience with minimum holiday feels this book is for you. It is well written, you can tell that the author either lived on a ranch or is very knowledgeable about ranch living. However, I would have loved to read more about the sister's husband since he gave everyone an eery feeling. It would have also been refreshing for Versai to clear the air with her father and sister as well.
Okay, I liked this story. A story of homecoming, of renewal, and of trust. Versai really was seeking these and found them in a place unsuspected. Dunani wanted to keep his peace and family safe from the madness he escaped from. I am not sure who I wanted to drop kick more Vresai's sister or Duhani's brother. Haters and cowards are always trying to throw wrenches in people plans.
This one felt incomplete and I didn’t really swoon over the characters. They didn’t get on my nerves tho but things just happened and didn’t really resolve.
Definitely liked the pace of the story. When ya know you just know. I wish she would have lit into her sister one good time but it's still a good read.
I have really been enjoying reading this series but something about this story didn’t grab me as much as the others. I think it had the potential to give more but stopped too quickly. There were too many loose ends for me. The explanation of Duhani’s life before Miller’s Pointe seemed very glossed over. I didn’t really understand who he was actually supposed to be. What happened to his brother? Who were the guys that showed up at his house? Why didn’t the cops question what happened?
For me, Versai’s storyline also seemed a bit unfinished. What was up with the brother in law’s bruised face? The shady actions of him and her sister didn’t fit with the story he gave. Why did the relationship between her and her sister take such a drastic turn? Whatever happened to Versai and her father’s relationship? Did they ever reconcile?
And this definitely wasn’t an issue for me being as I’m reading the series in March…but other than the mention of putting up a Christmas tree I would have never guessed this was supposed to be part of a Christmas series going off the book alone.
It was an ok insta love read but I didn’t quite get the same chemistry between Duhani and Versai as the other couples. It’s still a decent read if you are wanting a quick story to get lost in but it does leave a lot of questions unanswered.
So, Duhani and Versai meet in the most cute way. Even when you are told you have to make your own drink LOL, it's worth it when a sexy cowboy takes a sip. A long-Island Ice Tea is assuredly a must-have drink on any bar list. These two had an instant connection. Han was a true knight in shining armor, showing up at just the right moments, and he gave her protection, especially when she needed space from her family. He, in turn, had family issues, but they never judged each other. They were just present should the other person need it. They truly just fit together. Between his brother and her sister, I could have slapped both of them. His brother at least apologized and seemed to want to do better. But her sister was a hateful, mean person, and her dad should not have let her sister get in his head and believe everything she said about Versai. I loved Uncle Jonas. This was another excellent read in this series, but it was too short and did not have enough of the Christmas vibe. I would love to read more on these two.
I read this one as a part of the Miller's Pointe Christmas collection, and the first thing I have read by this author. This one was my least favorite of the series. I think I would have liked it much better if it was full length. I felt like I had missed something when it came to Duhani's past. I feel like the previous books set up this town as a quaint little prominently black community and the shooting, and the few conversations about him not being who he use to be just threw me off. I also felt like Versai had lot going on in her past, her present and they were all just glossed over. I just felt like there were so many things besides Christmas (Christmas was mentioned like 3 times maybe) and none of them really wrapped up well. Just like the other books in this collection it is very instalusty, very alpha and is open door. While I wanted to love this one, I just didn't it just didn't fit the vibe for a Christmas collection IMO.
Both of the MC were strong-willed, focused in their lives, but missing something essential they didn't know they needed but found in esch other. Kindred spirits with problematic siblings who were trying to destroy the lives and peace they had to make themselves feel better(it be your own). The past has a way of trying to keep you trapped if you let it, but these two are determined to create change in each other and move forward together ❤️. I liked this novella tremendously because Duhani had all the BDE, and Versai wasn't a damsel in distress but needed a soldier to better navigate life and give her a place to stay... permanently away from the muddle. Versai gave Duhani a home, a friend, a confidant, and a place for his soft side to stay permanently away from the muddle. This is a phenomenal read 📚 👏🏾 ✨️💯❣️
Hmmm 🤔⁉️Another weird contribution to the Miller’s Pointe Christmas series. A definitive character & plot foundation was never established for “Duhani & Versai: A Miller’s Pointe Christmas. It’s frustrating trying to decipher whether a primary character’s sir name is “Myers” or “Mayers” …or was “Linda” and “Lydia” the same mare? What🤦🏾♀️⁉️…reading should be pleasant and a no brainer. However, there’s entirely too many undefined variables to juggle between Versai & Duhani individual & family issues in just an eighty eight page novella. This read requires either extensive editing and or a few more chapters for clarity & context. Meanwhile, Versai & Duhani could have had a rapid HEA romance. Unfortunately, I’m currently caught in a convoluted country Christmas snow globe 🤷🏾♀️‼️
I was sure I was going to enjoy this visit to millers pointe. It started out a little slow for me until Duhani and Versai met because of a flat tire☺️.
I got comfortable with the story and just as the author warned The pace of the story moved quickly with some unexpected twist and turns and then it ending😏. I loved the chemistry and energy between Duhani and Versa, and I enjoyed where it seemed the story was headed. Unfortunately for me the story ended with me having several unanswered questions. The only way the cliffhanger ending would have been acceptable,to me, was if there were a Duhani & Versai ,part 2.
I was really looking forward to giving 5 stars but the abrupt ending ruined it for me.
A fast paced love story. I feel like this was a trailer where you catch a glimpse of Duhani& Versai falling for each other . The attraction was instant and I admired the way he protected her. Both had family issues and his brother irritated me because why bring bs to Millers Pointe. If you’ can’t f go to Bella Noches then where tf can you ?! Lol Although this was a short Kennedy kept it entertaining. I do want more even though she forewarned not to expect less and not to expect more. Applause to you Kennedy especially for going out of your comfort zone, because my girl usually writes Urban fiction/romance.
3.5 I liked Duhani & Versai together. Both were great characters and a good match for each other. Loved the instant connection, banter, chemistry between the two and how they just fit together. They were each what the other was seeking. Between both of their pasts her sister and his brother there was plenty of family drama. I just felt like there was a lot going on that wasn't pulled together. I would have swore the brother in law was involved somehow in the mess on the ranch. They could definitely use a longer story.
I didn’t really get a Christmas vibe from this one but definitely got the cowboy aspect that I have grown to love in these “Miller Pointe” books. Duhani and Versai fell for each other fast and neither wanted to slow it down because it felt good. I loved the chemistry between them. I feel like Versai’s sister husband was the one who tried to rob Duhani but that was never mentioned again.
I was kind of disappointed with how incomplete the book was to me. Although both main characters had issues in their life, l feel like the female lead's issues were just glossed over with no resolve. I wish more focus had been put on her family situation. Why did she feel her father killed her mother, did her father really keep her mother from leaving , and why was her sister being so hateful towards her. The love story was nice , but I just needed more.

I loved this story. So cute and to the point. When you know you know and I loved how that didn't judge each other for their pasts or even judged when it met them in the present. I loved how he always showed up right on time for her and gave her that protection that she needed. I'm ready to see what happens next for them. Duhani is my new book Bae. Loved this and definitely recommend.
I was really enjoying their story. I loved their connection and chemistry with one another. Theo story had some unexpected events that caught me off guard. But I enjoyed it. There is still some missing pieces - what happened with the creepy Brady eye man, the situation with Don and the ending left us wondering. Good read and hopefully part 2 is on the way.
I would have given this a 5 if the ending didn’t happen that way. Left us in a total cliffhanger. Like the book LITERALLY stopped in the midst of the story. There are so many questions that I have. Like who was going after Duhani? What happened with Versali and her dad and sister? Did Don the brother ever leave? Like the story just ended. It was a good story that doesn’t seem complete.
Really enjoying this Christmas novella series! I feel like I can get a sense of each author’s writing style from their addition to the Miller’s Pointe universe.
Han and Versai fell fast. The edgy plot line was a welcomed change in the holiday line up but it was wrapped so easily leaving holes. Did the brother in law really get kicked by a horse or was he involved in Don’s mess?
This was a cute, short story that was packed with family drama, fast-paced love, ranch living and life!! A wonderful Christmas story and great read! I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend this book and the series!! Kudos, Kennedy B. 💜
Duhani and Versai had this instant connection, because I believe they both were running from something at some point. Then to both have siblings that for some reason or another felt superior further pulled them into each other's orbit. I can see these two as an intro to something deeper. Who knows?? Happy Reading Y'all!💋
A good read that has a little family drama, secrets, and lies. I can see a full storyline about these characters and the family around them. Meeting when they both needed someone in their corner and moving as fast as they did, made for a good Christmas story.
Versai Father was wrong for taking her sister side. He should of asked Versai what made her come back after so long? I loved the way Duhani made sure she was protected and safe.
The ending was rushed. Would’ve loved to see the conversation with her father and sister. It was a great story but could’ve been slightly improved with the things mentioned.
Will we be getting more on these characters because I have so many questions ? ? ? Was Effie husband the first masked man Duhuni hit ? ? ? What is Effie issues ? ? ? Versai said when Duhani talked and all she could do was listen, he had that B.D.E ! ! !
This story uncovered that we are about here searching and when people don’t understand that create there own plot to make them better then. I like how she stood for herself against her family her Peace matter
I hate how the book ended. I need the rest of the story. What really happened to her sister husband head? Was he the one who got hit with the gun? Who were the 2 masked gunmen? Did she finally talk to her dad and set her sister straight? It’s too many untied endings!
