Trent had to flee his birth pack as a teenager to avoid being executed for killing someone in self-defense. It wasn’t fair and left him all alone, fighting to survive. Over the years, he found other shifters who were unjustly left on their own. Together, they built a pack, making Trent their alpha.
They are Rogues United. Trent’s doing his best to make all the right decisions. Then they take out a nest of Vampires who are killing and harming humans—and Trent changes their pack dynamic when he discovers an abused Vamp chained up in the basement. It’s a bad idea to take the beautiful Vamp home with them. He knows that, but there’s something about her…
Kate was kidnapped and turned into a Vampire against her will. The creatures holding her captive are crazy, trying to force her to pretend to be someone she’s not. They keep her locked up, punishing her for refusing to play along with their insanity. Until a sexy Werewolf rescues her…
Did she just exchange one dangerous situation for another? Because not everyone in Trent’s pack is happy that he spared her life.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
This book was a great read but anti-climatic in the long run. All the other books hooked me and I couldn’t stop reading!! I’m disappointed but it was still an ok book, kept you up to speed I suppose.
What I Loved Trent and Kate’s story kicks off with a bang. Trent, a werewolf, rescues Kate from a nest of crazy vampires who had kidnapped, turned, and imprisoned her. Even though vampires in this world are usually seen as cold-blooded killers, Trent decides to give Kate a chance and brings her back to his sanctuary. This place, where other packless werewolves like Trent live, is called “Rogues United.” It’s a great setup, and as soon as Kate meets the other werewolves, I found myself instantly invested in each of their stories. They’re a diverse, likable bunch, and I’m really hoping each of them gets their own book and mate in the future.
I also loved seeing Kate figure out her new vampire life, with Trent and the other rogues by her side. The chemistry between Trent and Kate was palpable from the start, even though Trent tries to fight it. But, of course, we all know how that turns out—inevitably, they end up together, and it’s a sweet, satisfying romance.
What Didn’t Resonate with Me While I enjoyed Trent, there were a few things that didn’t quite hit the mark. For starters, the ending was a bit too predictable. I’m not just talking about the happy ending, but the reveal of the villain. It felt like I saw it coming a mile away, and the way it was resolved was anticlimactic—it was all wrapped up way too quickly.
It’s a story about a woman who is turned into a vampire and a werewolf who saves her. It’s a familiar trope about the family of good looking men who live together and each character will find a mate. Oh, and all the men are great guys with trauma that a woman will have to heal.
This book is a wonderful beginning into the Rogue pack I read about in a previous book! I have marked a place in my heart for each of them. Great job and great beginning, Laurann Dohner! Thank you 😍
Loved Trent’s pack. Loved the banter and how they looked out for each other. Trent found his mate unexpectedly in an unexpected place. It had me from beginning to the end. I couldn’t put it down.
What a totally awesome book and series!!! I just absolutely loved this book from beginning to end and I can't wait for the next one to come out! A definite must read. Happy Reading!!! :)
Ok my sanity will be better if there is a Lymanvamp born to Trent and Kate!!! Looking forward to Cable's story ok ok, the rest ofv the guys stories too! Honestly another awe inspiring book,(which I wished was longer) but I'm happy with anything Laurann Dohner puts out! Been reading her books for years and continue to do so. Really great book ! Don't wait to read it.
Ms. Dohner does it again. This story includes shifters and vampires and does a great job of combining the two. Kate and Tent are a wonderful couple that shouldn’t be together but feel the pull. The supporting pack are great and I can’t wait for their stories.
Great book! Different from her other books but still just as good a story. I liked that the female character was not always crying or feeling sorry for herself .She was still a gentle soul and the main male character was not over the top.The story also gave a lot of background on the other characters with out being boring or out of place.
So glad you are back writing. I really enjoyed this story. I have read every book you have written for many years. I know the struggle was tough and long. Why? Because I've been looking for a new book by you for almost 2 years. Congratulations you have a winner. As usual once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Hope the next one's about Cable😋😋🤗🤗🤗😘
Once again Laurann creates another great Lycan Vampire story. A few old names and faces, fleshing out the history and lives of the Rogue pack! Love all her books. Keep em coming Laurann!!!! 🥰
I don’t know what it is about Laurann Dohner that has me hooked on her book. But so far I’ve read 3 series of hers and this spin off of VLG has me hooked. She has a knack for writing about people/creatures that you just like and get invested in their lives. It’s not rocket science but it does what Calgon doesn’t, the books take me away from everything that gives me anxiety. Works for me.
LOVED it! Great story, steamy romance, hilarious characters.
I could not put this book down. Ready it all in one sitting!
Trent and Kate’s story starts off with Trent rescuing Kate from a crazy nest of vampires who had recently kidnapped her, turned her, and kept her imprisoned. Even though vampires in this world are known for being cold bloodsuckers who kill without regard, Trent (a werewolf) decides to give Kate (newly turned vamp) a chance and brings her back to his sanctuary where other rogues without packs like him are living (call themselves “Rogues United”).
Kate gets to meet the other werewolves living with Trent and their characters immediately grab your heart and convince you to become invested in each of their stories! So of course now I can’t wait to read each one! So I certainly hope Ms. Dohner plans to finish the Rogues United series lol!
The banter between all the guys is also hilarious. Looking forward to reading more of it!
Lastly, not to give too much away…but this story takes you through Kate’s new experiences as a recently-turned vampire (her struggles and successes with it with Trent and the guys by her side helping). Trent at first fights his attraction to Kate but the inevitable happens and of course like I said you can’t put the book down while you’re “watching” (reading) it all play out between them haha :).
Loved this book and can't wait for the next in the series. Just when you think all is going well and you get in a routine, something crops it's ugly head up and upsets your sense of security.
I love the rogues so far. Each of the men have compelling stories of how they became rogues and formed the pack with Trent becoming alpha. Their bounty hunting company leads Trent to a vampire next that turned and abused her for another crazy vampire because she looks like his deceased vampire mate. He rescues her, teaches her what the vampires should have taught her and falls for her too. Kate is vulnerable the whole book but looks at Trent as a savior whom she can’t help catching feelings and sexual attraction from the feedings. I do look forward to the continuation of this series!
Each and every member of RU Rogues United is interesting. Makes me look forward to the next stories. I love Kate and Trent together. That cover is amazing. It is a scene from the book. These stories make me feel good. Kate comes into her own. Loved how she channeled her little sister. My favorite scene! I want to see her sisters in here somewhere. They sound interesting. Reef is my favorite secondary character. He's so hilarious. This author is my one click auto buy. She gets better and better. I can tell she did some heavy research because some things are new and interesting. I can't wait to see this pack grow. I did want to see more wolf action especially Trent.
This was an enjoyable read and good addition to this series. It was obviously introduction to next few books. Can’t say it’s as good as this author’s previous books because some parts just felt repetitive and redundant. The characters were interesting but all of their stories were quite depressing and it was hard to keep optimistic. I felt like the focus of the story was on everything else more than on main characters love story. Just didn’t feel their chemistry…. This used to be one of my favorite authors so I keep reading her books, they are decent reads, just not great reads that they used to be…. All that being said, I will read the next book when it comes out….
I loved this book. When a Lycan (werewolf) meets his mate and it happens to be a mortal enemy things get interesting. The banter between the guys in the pack is hilarious. But there are serious moments like when Kate is told each of their stories. A little misfit pack and I love them. Trent and Kate are really perfect for each other. But Trent's enforcer doesn't think so. Since Kate was not groomed as a vampire she still had a lot of her human traits which made this read so very heartwarming. I totally loved all the characters and I hope they will get books they all so deserve it including my not so favorite Cable.
I always love these stories and getting to see glimpses of past couples. This book was really good and just what I needed. It has romance (some steamy bits), all the feels, action and a dash of suspense. You can definitely start with this book if you choose but reading some of the other VLG books does give you some extra depth.my only selfish complaint is I wish it had been longer lol. But it was still very good and ended with an HEA. I hope we get more stories of this pack hopefully they all get a story but I'm especially excited for cable & jay. Good book would recommend!
I liked the change in scenery for this one. A bit more lighthearted with the pack. Laurann is a favorite of mine and I will buy her books without reading the description. The H/H attraction is always so fast it is hard to relate but the stories are always fun. What woman wouldn't like a man who is completely devoted to her, let's her still be herself and puts them and their relationship at the top of his to-do list? I'm all in. Laurann's men know how to take care of their mates in all the right ways.
I absolutely love the R.U. pack. You always knew Rogues couldn't all be bad. Some where just a product of their surroundings or pack politics gone wrong. These guy's will probably take in a dragon if they find one with enough emotional baggage. Kate and Trent are a great interspecies couple. Not to mention Cats and dogs living together. Now a lovely baby Vamp. Sooooo looking forward to the next book. I was also stocked that Graves and some VampLycans made an appearance.
