Finishing this short series - I can now say that the first chunk feels like when they try to make a folk tale (Momotaro) appeal to young people in a very out of touch way by adding in battles and hulking out the animal characters. It then transitions into seeming like it was co-written with an 11-year-old boy where they also believe that everything could be improved with meaningless action, *very* superficial romance, dull twists, giving the villain some nonsensical reasons, and boobs. You could constantly ask yourself, what was the point of that? It feels really poorly scripted and brings nothing especially interesting to the table.
