Milked for the Holidays

Rate this book
This ain’t your Santa’s milk and cookies…

All I wanted for Christmas was to share the holiday season with someone special.

I definitely did not expect that someone to be a giant blue alien who plans to use my body for its most base, humiliating functions.

Milk and pleasure. That is my life on Icora. My entire purpose.

The worst part is, with every milking, my desire to return home slips futher and further away.

But cows are meant for profit, not companionship. And I’m not sure how much longer I can survive this world without having my most basic human need of all

Being loved.

Milked for the Holidays is a Dark HuCow romance featuring themes not appropriate for all readers. Please read the author's note to determine if this anthology is too much for you.

Vivian is a sassy romance writer that likes to brat just as much as she writes. As a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants author, she's usually working furiously into the night when her creative juices hit her the hardest. Her books like to take you to the dark side and force you to dip your toes in, but don't drown you. She loves writing alphaholes, anti-heroes, and heroes you just love to hate. She likes to try out everything she's putting her heroines through, so the phrase “for science” is used in her house a lot! When she's not writing, you can probably find her playing Animal Crossing or tormenting her cats and Husdom.

I paid 3.99 USD for this fuck ass book about HUMAN COWS and alien MASTER RANCHERS. Guys, we are literally MOOING and getting MILKED on an alien planet. MOOING.

Now, I could not tell you if this book is a 5-star or a 1-star, but I can tell you that I am absolutely spending 5.99 USD on the next one.

Finding the ARC of Milked for the Holidays was a very pleasant surprise,a beautiful gift i was eager to unpack.
And what i found when i opened it,had so many flavours, that it filled my heart to the brim.
Yes,it had a deep sadness from the loss Jessica suffered just before she was taken.
But it also held the promise of a new future, one where she wouldn’t have to be alone.
Even if that future meant giving up everything she’d worked so hard for….and more.

Being left alone in the world, having to face the Holidays without her beloved mother, was overwhelming her.
And even though she knew she had to find a way to honor her mother’s wishes for her to be happy, she wasn’t ready.
Being taken by aliens seemed like a nightmare she was desperate to wake up from.
Only to find it was a reality that proved challenging….
These blue men were real, and what they had planned for her was mindblowing.
The “doctor” that examined her was callous, but thankfully his brother was the opposite.
And she couldn’t help, but cling to the sense of safety he provided…
But what did they mean when they called her a cow??
She was a woman,a human…..not some animal,damnit!!
Until she finally had the opportunity to check why her body felt so strange, and why her breasts ached so badly……

Vrokjan felt a connection to this sweet little human from the moment he saw her.
He knew he had to be the one to buy her once they landed on Icora,to be the one to harvest the sweet milk he was sure she’d produce.
To have her as his personal sweet little cow,to cherish her and hopefully keep her for the rest of his life.
But why did she weaken so quickly?
Was it because her body changed so soon,or was there something else….something that could be fatal??
He couldn’t bare the thought of losing her and would do anything to make sure she was well!!

This was a story in true Vivian Murdoch style, with a heroine that was taken against her will, only to find freedom in ways she never expected.
With a Hero that was out of this world….a commanding, but caring man.
One that seemingly forced the heroine to give up her independence, but turned out to be exactly what she needed.
A delicious story with all the feels,a story i enjoyed very much!!

Note: Some of my goodreads shelves can be spoilers

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (So this book isn’t really for me, but I had a lot of fun reading it anyway so I’m rounding up to 4)
Readability: 📖📖📖📖
Feels: 🦋🦋🦋
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔
Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡
Romance: 💞💞💞
Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥+
Humor: A bit – you might find the whole thing humorous!
Perspective: First person from both the hero and heroine, alternating chapters
More character focused or plot focused? plot
How did the speed of the story feel? I’d say medium
When mains are first on page together: About 10% in
Cliffhanger: No, this ends with a happily ever after
Epilogue: Yes
Format: bought e-book
(Descriptions found at end of my review)

Should I read in order?
I think this is a stand alone novel.

Basic plot:
Jessica is alone for the holidays when she’s abducted by blue aliens that want to turn her into a HuCow.

Give this a try if you want:
- science fiction romance
- mostly alien setting
- language barrier (brief)
- plus size rep – she’s not toned and ‘every inch of her is a handful’
- this one has some pretty big content warnings – abduction, noncon/dubcon, slavery parallels – so if those types of dark themes aren’t your interest then I would forego this one.
- kinks/sex – toys/dilators, praise, lactation, anal plugs, humiliation, degradation, elements of control...
- some extreme cow and rancher role play???
- higher steam

Ages:
- Heroine is 35, didn’t catch hero

First line:
Frigid wind whips about my face, nearly blinding me as I struggle with the trunk.

My thoughts:
Let’s just be very clear – this book is bonkers. There’s alien ranchers that abduct and medically change Earth women into HuCows to serve them on their farms for milk and pleasure. Soooo you will like this book if you have a big lactation kink and are okay with some dramatic content warnings.

I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into with this book as I like to go in blind. Well! I am glad my breast feeding days are far enough behind me that I was able to get into the fantasy of this a little. I like ravishment fantasy and this is very much an example of that. Maybe a bit too much cow, rancher, nesting in hay references for me? It was hard to have such a real life parallel. Being in a stall and forced to walk on all fours. I think those wanting pet/caretaker role playing vibes might get into this one.

The care taking in this one was really great. I was a bit worried he would not because he seemed rather harsh.

Overall, I think this was too much for me. I’d probably not continue with the series. But it’s the content and not the writing. I’ve read a few others by Murdoch and really loved them! I did have fun reading this overall and posting a reaction thread in our group A Love Less Ordinary, but found it is a bit much for me 😆

LIGHT SPOILERS

This was.... NOT it for me. I came for the cute spicyness, some consentual kink maybe? and DNF half way after way too much cringe.

Where to start? The story opens with our heroine grieving the loss of her mother at Christmas time. This is a fact that comes up a few times and is a huge mood killer. She wakes up kidnapped by blue aliens who manhandle her, strap her down, sexually assault and inject her with a hormone that essentially makes her a massive milk producer and changes her physiology. She's also given a translator injected into her head..... All of this causes her extreme discomfort and pain, mastitis anyone?

She's then auctioned off with other kidnapped girls and sold to that same alien at a cattle market. She's constantly mistreated, referred to as subhuman and an animal, abused, made to relive herself in front of her captor, not allowed to speak and even "taken r-worded" while she's asleep and we're supposed to LIKE the male lead?? He's a total creeper!

Half way though he gets all possessive and weepy because she's getting sick and I guess we're supposed to laud him for that, but honestly she's only here being abused because of him. There's no chemistry or connection between them and the female lead just seems super doped up and unable to think through her (forcibly induced by serum shot) lust.

It was written pretty well and some of the spicy bits would have been good if not for the context. If you're not into the above, this is NOT the book for you. I also found the bestiality thing really uncomfortable (like the women are "pets" and "cows" but the men have sex with them, eat meat AND drink their produced milk....what?)

I can get behind the milking thing, but I have trouble wrapping my head around a species of aliens that from what I can tell thinks of and treats humans as literal animals, but then has sex with them. I guess this is an "acceptable" form of or reinterpretation of bestiality? Absolutely bonkers, but I found parts of it titillating.

Wtf did I just read? 🤣
This has to be the weirdest book I've read and I read vintage erotica where dogs were involved 🫣 (not my proudest moment)

In this house we do not k!nk shame so the issue is not with the different stuff but mostly with the worldbuild/FMC and MMC.

One of the things that confused me the most was why do they force an entire genre of earth people to produce milk. They do have other things. They eat other things. Don't they have alien women there? It's just a planet full of males? Will they die if they don't drink milk? How did they even find an earthling woman who was lactating and went - you know what these t!ts are lit! We need more.

I have so many questions and I don't know if I have it in me to read the answers in another book ^^"

The breast k!nk - wtvs
Women being milked - sure... it's twisted but hey we're the earth people reading this
Them treating the women like property - Ok, sure their a**hole aliens, I'm not suppose to like them
Women going full vegan and eating hay - now... wait a damn minute!

Women have to go vegan and eat hay. How can they survive? With the injections that alter their biology? See, I can go past the boob stuff, Freud would love that <3 But it's the fact that these tiny things in the worldbuild don't make much sense. This is why I prefer alien smut with as either minimal worldbuild - you came here for s*x and s*x you shall have!

The spicy scenes are incredible. This is not a poorly written book! I actually loved the brother - he was the one I believed to be an alien. He firmly believes in their culture that earthling women are cows and they do nothing else but produce milk. He does not seem them as people but rather as actual animals. I would love to read his "redemption" book, because I don't feel any sympathy at all so having his ideas change and adapt, it will be fun.

Did I enjoy it? I don't know.
Parts of it, yes. I'd actually love if the author explores more of their world in future books.

In the unmistakable style of Vivian Murdoch, this book is erotic, filthy and kinky.
An abdution to a planet of blue aliens where they desumanize woman turning them into cows, there's lactation and humiliation, noncon or dubcon but love will happen and a happy ending!

Omg that was dumb

I dont even know where to start with this. Obviously it's a DNF but it's so much worse. I kept thinking how is this a real published book and if this person was a man because female anatomy seems beyong them. I was game to know it was about hucows but this was just so bad.

The boon isn't long but the first 10% is her being sad. Her mom died over a month ago and she just spends over 10% of the book talking about her mom. Like this grown 35 year old has no friends? No family? How is she a lawyer and is almost broke?

The aggregius part is that once she's kidnapped and basically turned into a pet with no rights, she goes right along with it. She keeps harping about never been freer when she's basically a pet that has to wall on all fours and is only allowed to moo. Like what even is that? Ok, you want the milk but how is treating grown women like literal cows going to help with anything? Then can just kidnap real cows and save themselves the trouble. She also keeps saying the dude has never done anything she shouldn't trust so she trusts him. Ma'am, he literally kidnaps you, genetically alters you, treats like a brainless pet, and there is serious dub/con here. As a woman is law, you are embarrassing us. I'm sad I spent my points on this.

No star rating because this was very much a squick
Dnf-ish @54%

Sometimes I encounter a word I have never heard before. In this case it was 'hucow'. It sounded bonkers, I had the time, some recommendations were made, some were free on kindle, and here we are.

I knew going in that it probably wasn't my thing. So I chose something I thought would be lightheaded. You know, because of the title? Yeah, I should've read it a bit better because it is a DARK romance. I'm such an idiot. After reading fanfic for some time, you would this I would pay closer attention. Although in my own defence, I'm used to content tags.

Anyhoo (or is it anymoo?) I came for the milking tag and left because of the ... dressing humans up as cows? And the demands they moo for their masters.
...
...
... Was that really the worst thing for me? But you know what, it was! I had such a visceral reaction to the . It sapped the little bit of joy of me giggling and her being called a heifer.

So the thing is I can see why people would like it! If it wasn't 'dark' I could actually see myself enjoying it for just what it is, not my thing but fun to enjoy. But dark romance is not my thing. Consent is sexier to me. Your mile may vary though.

But for me I found a squick I didn't know about. Which is good to know.

Sidenote: I don't understand why people think cows are so easygoing. Do people forget they are like 300 kilo and even if they don't mean to, they will bash your brain out. With ease.
If you see a cow running, run the other way. Doesn't matter if it just Bessie enjoying the first day of Spring and you knew her since the was a baby and she would never hurt you right? RIGHT?

That situation ended up with Bessie leading the charge with the rest of the herd, my brother and me going through and under a electric fence with barbed wire and Bessie walking next to us (on the other side of the fence) for as long as possible back home. Bessie was great but cows are mini tanks and I will never forget that I'm just a weak sucker.

DNF’d at the moment my brain made a little pop sound

Where do I begin? At the soft-core abduction? The festive trauma? The literal tinsel interference with alien translator chips? No, no. That would be too generous. Let’s begin where Milked for the Holidays begins: a grieving woman, alone on Christmas, watching A Christmas Carol, only to wake up strapped to a table surrounded by blue alien himbos ready to “milk” her into seasonal bliss.

This book had so many red flags but I tried. I did. I pushed through pages of hormonal Stockholm Syndrome, internal monologues that read like steamy Tumblr posts from 2012, and aliens who saw her age as a milkable expiration date.

The main character? Think sad holiday widow turned “please abduct me harder, daddy cow king.” The plot? A fever dream inside a snow globe. The romance? Less “soulmates” and more “do you even know what a restraining order is in your galaxy?” Every threat of confinement was met with a sultry sigh. Every red flag was erotically nibbled.

The translator chip didn’t work because of tinsel. TINSEL. I can’t emphasize that enough. Not radiation. Not neural mismatch. Not plot. Tinsel.

Look, if you’re into alien lactation kink with a sprig of holiday depression and absolutely no survival instinct? This book’s for you. It’s not bad, per se as it’s fully committed to its niche but I was not mentally or emotionally prepared for this level of seasonal thirst and space barn energy.

It did what I needed.

I won't lie, I definitely don't have a desire to be a cow, to moo, or to be milked. 😅🤣

However, I'd been stuck in a rut with a series I was reading. I stopped reading and couldn't find the desire to do so anymore. I needed a short book, with lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️ that would just take my mind away for a bit.

I read it in one sitting. I'm not a fan of insta love in series, but in short books it does exactly what I need it too. It did transport my mind somewhere else... And as my first Alien read I am excited to possibly branch into that world now.

I gave it 5 stars because although it's not my desired content, I do believe it's written well. I believe if these are your kinks you'll definitely get what you're looking for with this read. It's short and to the point, the author doesn't get lost in wordy descriptions when they aren't necessary. It did leave a lingering curiosity for new Alien content I didn't have before, and well if you look past the "mooing" and the cow stuff I thought the MC was hot 🥵 and I definitely have a praise kink. 🩷

Free on Kindle

TLDR: Scratched the itch. Skip to the abduction. Ending is very rushed.

I would've traded all of that lonnnng exposition at the start. If you want my advice, skip to when she gets taken by the aliens, nothing happens before and that exposition is repeated so often throughout that the broad strokes are enough.

I also feel like it had potential it didn't use. She made it to the farm and the book was 70% done with only 40ish pages left and it was time to start wrapping up. So many interesting paths it could take from there, conflict it tried to set up and then it just ended.

I know there's other books, but I think they're just other POVs and, like I said, itch is scratched.

Well this was something I did not expect. I downloaded mainly because the title sounded funny. Once I started reading it I was wondering why I was but I could not stop, and loved every second of it.

We have Jessica who is trying to get through her first Christmas without her mother, when she finds out she has been abducted by aliens, and changing her to become a human cow, to milk and pleasure her. Master rancher vrokjan has taken a liking to Jessica more than just another cow. With the way it developed, Jessica finding what she was missing after giving up so much to care for her mother. Vrokjan realisation that Jessica is more than a pet.

This is probably one of the weirdest books I have read, but totally loved it. I couldn't put it down.

I gave it an honest try but 'm still dnfing at chapter 6. I generally have a high tolerance for weird or hardcore kinks but here I'm safewording & declaring HuCow as a hard limit. I was sooo uncomfortable with the cattle verbiage & not hot under the collar for the right reasons. Other commenters evoked the after taste of disguised bestiality (I agree. One of the reasons I can't stand omegaverse) but to me the bigger problem here was 🥩: What happens to cows once no more milk... I couldn't shake the anthropophagic image from my mind. 🤢
So yeah, let me bleach my brain & read something cute next.

What amazing book did I just read and discover that I love this trope?!? Milked for the Holidays was such a page turning adventure!!! I loved this book from the first chapter. The characters were well written and had instant and intense chemistry. The storyline was original and beautifully written and had such vivid detailing. Vivian Murdoch has such an amazing mind that she creates these stories that are exciting, dark, thrilling and of course super duper spicy!!! This is a HuCow trope and does touch on a few dark themes and topics. I can’t wait to see what Vivian Murdoch brings next!!!!

If you are a fan of hucow then this book is amazing and fabulous. Especially if you like things a little bit darker. Vivian does an amazing job at describing what Jessica is going through and feeling, both on Earth and on Icora. Please read the trigger warnings.
I loved Jessica and Vrokjan. They both had so much love to give and I’m glad they found a way to be together. Absolutely so spicy and so very hot. But I love the connection these two had. It was precious and wonderful. Can’t wait to get the next book!

Okey dokey. That was ..... interesting. The writing was easy to get into, the world building was sufficient but not OTT for a novella.

So blue aliens steal women from earth and give them hormones to make them lactate. They make them wear tails and hand held hooves. They milk them and give them orgasms. Either the old fashioned way or with mechanical assistance.

This MFC seems to be allergic to the lactation part of the hormone injections, but she and her "Master Rancher" are attached, so his brother, the ranch doctor, alters her shots to decrease her production.

This was.. something else, alrigh 😳

The writing was good, although I think the author could have explained things a little better. I'm not used to reading sci-fi, so I need a little more world building to really enjoy a story.
But for what it was, it was great! Can't believe I almost cried because of the ending for a book like this 🥲 I actually need more of these characters and I hope the author would write more about this universe.

Did you ever want to be a cow? No? Then this book is probably not going to be a favorite of yours. I found myself getting very irritated by the women in this story. Bodily autonomy is something that women have fought for tooth and nail over the centuries. And this celebrates stripping and/or giving it away.
However, as a sexy, alien, abduction story - it was weird and fun.
I guess I couldn't detach my brain enough to truly enjoy the story.

Not as good as “Milking his lass” (book 2) but basically the same thing. I prefer the characters in book 2.
I read book 2 before “ Milked for the Holidays” (book 1), and I should’ve stopped there.
Both books are on the same timeline so there’s an overlapping storyline, which made things repetitive.
You just read it from the other characters POV.

I read both books back to back which made it feel like deja vu lol.

Weird, but well written

I was intrigued by the bizarre plot, but it was mostly as expected in the book teaser. It was truly strange, and it was very erotic. If that's your cup of tea, you won't be disappointed. It really isn't my interest, but I thought it was well written. I would read something by the author again, but not a hucow genre.

Okay, this is not my usual wheelhouse but it was a fun read. Vivian never disappoints when I pick up her work. The unique aspects of the hucow world and the emotional growth and understanding that the fmc gets in this story is more than worth five stars. This book is dark and contains things that might not be for everyone so please check the cw list first.

Jessica and Vrokjan

I haven’t read many HuCow stories but this one checked all the boxes. Alien abduction, non-con/dub-con, size difference and of course milking. I fell in love with Vrokjan immediately. He was tough on the outside but had a bit of a gooey center. The spice level was high and I found the stretching device intriguing. Can’t wait to read Fiona’s story.

A Sad to Milky Sweet…

Grieving from the loss of her mother Jessica is struggling with facing her first Christmas with out her but when she wakes from a deep sleep she finds herself taken by Ivorian Ranchers and turned into a Hucow… different from the other books on the subject and not as dark as I’ve read before but definitely still a good sweet read.
