Car crash. Blackout. Silence. He found me. But I'll make sure he regrets it.
"It will be the moment I show him who should actually be afraid of who."
I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
"That Sara is gone and she will never come back."
Katie Perez concludes her debut series with "Burn It Down" and honestly the only complaint I have is that it was too short. I ran through this shit so fucking fast but it was fast paced and intriguing so I am all for it!!
"He may have gotten off on the pain he inflicted upon me, but it’s nothing compared to how much I will enjoy watching life fade from his eyes."
Sara goes through a hard time throughout this series and this book just proves how much of a badass she is. I mean men need to learn to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up and Sara believes in that wholeheartedly and I am right there with you girl. Trust me Barbie. While her and Garett are literally adorbs she knows she doesn't need a man to save her and she is more than willing to prove it.
"You could tell me to slit my wrists and all I would ask is which knife."
Garrett being our lovable masked serial killer love interest is still so good!! Love the way he cares for Sara and also realized that she is a badass bitch and she doesn't need him to save her, even though he would lay down his life in a heartbeat do not be mistaken. He gave me the "where is my wife?!" energy and I am a sucker for that one so GOLD STAR FOR GARRETT!!
"Whatever he did he will pay for ten times over."
The author put in some songs in the book but these are the ones I added to contribute to the mood ✨✨

Notes: POV = Dual, 1st person, FMC & MMC Overall: It was 129 pages and just finished the cliffhanger from the last book, could’ve skipped the duet and made it one book.
Main Characters: Sara has no street smarts, no common sense. Garret frustrated me, too.
Side Characters: Unremarkable.
Plot/Story: Predictable. Didn't really flow and so many things are random/abrupt.
Romance: I see no connection between these two. No lust, no love, no chemistry. Nothing. Some trauma bonding from Sara but that's it.
General: How many errors did I catch? I'll tell you: 482. We were still switching between past and present tense, misplaced capitalization, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, etc. Sentences end abruptly, it felt like I was reading instructions.
As a side note; the author seems like a wonderful person.
Ok what the heck. This book easily could have been added onto the end of the first book and that pisses me off. On the other hand I am happy with how the story ended and the revenge path Sara took.
It feels like I have been waiting forever for this book 😂 book 1 ends on a cliffhanger and I’ve been waiting ever since.
Burn it down picks up right where book 1 left off! I absolutely loved reading this book! I really enjoy Katie writing style and looking forward for more books by her in the future
This book wasn't the worst ending to the duet but the book itself seems like it was written and immediately sent off to Kindle without any editing. It was littered with spelling mistakes and poor grammar, almost like they didn't even take the time to proofread anything which is extremely disappointing.
“I want to watch you drain the life from him , slowly and meticulously. Making him beg for the end. It’s what he deserves for stalking you, hunting you, killing your friends. Don’t give him this mercy.”

Thoughts 💭
This book picks up right at the ending of Light it up, where Sara and Garrett have the world flipped upside down. Sara is missing and Garrett is not having any of it. Secrets come out and lives are dissolved but one thing is Sara is a Queen who has her King right by her side.
I’m new to Author Katie Perez and this is the second book in her En Prise duet. I’m not disappoint at all in the duet! I’m really not a big fan of a strong FMC characters but I really enjoyed plot. I am all about the gore in my reads and this definitely had it. For me the spice was good but it was more plot in this book.
"Sara, this is Preston Maddox. My Godfather."
And can we talk about side characters in this duet, especially Godfather Preston Maddox.. Just that little part of him had my attention!
“Nothing has changed. You are still mine. I will always want you. If anything I want you more now that I've had you taken from me.”

"Burn It Down" by Katie Perez introduces a gripping transformation of a once-normal girl into a formidable force within the dangerous world she unexpectedly encounters. In just a month, the Sarah’s life takes a drastic turn, exposing her to powerful and perilous men and their hidden secrets lurking in her seemingly ordinary surroundings.
There is a profound shift in Sarah's identity and mindset. She declares her departure from the sweet, oblivious girl she used to be, embracing a newfound determination to become a force to be reckoned with. The promise to be the danger that these mysterious men should fear, to embody the hushed secrets spoken in the shadows, and to be the downfall of a character named Nathan, hints at a plot filled with intrigue, suspense, and personal empowerment.
The author has crafted a story that explores themes of transformation, empowerment, and the unveiling of hidden worlds. Readers who enjoy narratives with strong, evolving protagonists, mysterious secrets, and a touch of danger may find "Burn It Down" to be an engaging and thrilling read.
This is the final instalment in the duet. Should read book 1 to understand the characters. I felt that this duet could have been 1 book, and that the book ended so abruptly. The Epilogue also gave me more unanswered questions. I wasn’t satisfied with how this ended.
The wait is over!! I have been waiting forever to find out what happens with Sara and Garrett after that cliffhanger in book 1. So be sure you have read book 1, Light It Up, as this be starts off right where it ends. Which I loved that it picks right up, you just dive right back in.
And boy do you get right into the action. If you didn’t hate Nathan in the first book, you will for sure in this one. My goodness this man just made me cringe a lot while reading. The best thing I loved was Sara! She turns into a completely different girl than what she was and I am here for it! As far as comebacks go, Sara has the greatest one of all time! Love seeing her come into the baddie that she is.
I still love Garrett but I feel like this book was more about Sara. But to see the way Garrett was with her and how he supported her through everything was incredible.
The best conclusion of a duet. So many truths and secrets come out that will have your head spinning! Cannot wait to see what else is to come in this world.
⚠️PLEASE be sure to check the TW at the start of the book before you start reading. There are a lot of topics and dark themes in this one.⚠️ . . . 5️⃣🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 10/10 recommendation‼️
I have to say that I generally find quick, spicy books like this to be a fun time! Seeing the FMC continue on her path towards confidence & becoming a certified bad ass was great. I’m always a sucker for secret societies & seeing their inner-workings is usually a great read IMO. That’s especially true when there’s a lot of shadiness going on & we’re trying to piece together the who & what & whys of the plot.
With how short this book was, I do feel like the duet could’ve been one longer, more solid book. I appreciated that we jumped right in where the first book left off but the entire first part of the book felt pretty rushed in general. The pace seemed much better once we got back to the Council & the Court & all of that.
Parts of this book did have me smiling & I will admit to chuckling a few times after some snarky remarks characters made. I found the main characters likable & I especially like Tatum. I think it would be fun if he had his own book in the future! I’d like to know more about him.
Overall - a quick, easy, spicy read even if it was a tad predictable at points.
Yes, just omg yes to this whole book! Sara is a seriously fierce and awesome MC, Garrett is a sexy supportive delight, and together they burn white hot as they take down traitors and dole out punishment in a ridiculously fiery way. Couldn’t put it down! Having been stalked, thrown into a secret society she knows nothing about, and then kidnapped, Sara has had enough. She has plans to make them pay and they have no idea their worst nightmare is at the head of the council table and about to take absolute control. I loved this read! Garrett and Sara are still a fiery hot couple who now have an even better and far hotter repertoire when it comes to interrogation and the way Garrett stands by her, not in front of her, as she embraces her new darker side is perfect. Tatum and Grayson totally step up in this one and I really liked them both, maybe we’ll see more of them in the future? But Sara is by far my favorite standing up for herself against anyone who gets in her way, rescuing herself, and at the same time finding herself in what she’s become and her relationship with Garrett.
I have been so excited for this book to come out. The first book Light it Up was left in such a cliffhanger! I like cliffhangers because I keep thinking about the book until the next one is released!
I have not been able to get it off my mind until now!! I really enjoy a fast paced book and Katie's writing is right up my alley on many different aspects.
I really like how she details the characters and explains things that MAY cause questions. But at the same time she leaves you wondering what is next, which for me kept me reading and wanting more.
Sara and her mindset and attitude totally changed in this book from the first book. She was no longer the sweet innocent. She stood her ground and rightful place. She never backed down and protected herself at all costs!
The spice between her and Garret was so spicy!! Sara and her dominant side was incredible and did not disappoint at all. As twisted as their relationship and the things involving the court is, I love the dynamics and the love they have for each other.
If you haven't read Light It Up, I HIGHLY suggest reading both Light It UP and Burn It Down.

Sara is an amazing FMC ! Reading her story and watching her go from a timid scared lass to a fierce strong and bad ass b*tch has been amazing ! Garrett as always is by her side to help comfort and support her in anyway he possibly can is heartwarming. In book two you really see how these characters fall into play, Sara being kidnapped to bringing her kidnapper to her knees , Garrett realising after what happened in his past he can love and be loved and he is an amazing protector. We can’t forget Tatum ! The incredible hacker who helps in every way he can even if he is there when Garrett and Sara get little too frisky and he bolts as quick as he can. We love Tatum !!
The ending has me wanting more though ! I neeeeed to know more on these two love birds I’m addicted to their story !
The storyline is amazing and the spice will be spicing too ! Well worth the read !
So I really liked this one compared to the first but there were still a ton of errors. (It’s just one of my icks while reading.) There were numerousssss times that names weren’t capitalized, were quotation marks again, and numerous spelling errors. It’s not a big deal at all but it drove me crazy reading.
I was very threw off over the fact that she went back to having sex the same day/day after she was raped. I just think things were moving too fast in this world. The fact that Nathan was hired was great for the storyline, but everything just seemed very underdeveloped.
The last line “"I'm the reason your Father never became a King." The End” makes me wonder if there is supposed to be more. But maybe this other series that’s coming out will explain. This duet would have been five stars for me if it were more developed!
This was the 2nd book in the En Prise duet. I liked the whole plot of the secret society and rituals. Sara is royalty and so is Garret. It continued from the suspense ending in book 1. Sara's Stalker is obsessed and somehow keeps finding her. She does get kidnapped again but horrible things happen this time. Although it's not on page, it is mentioned. I did feel sad that she didn't process the whole ordeal properly and masked it. I understand all that but I do think later on the book she should have had time to work through it. It's not something you can just forget and move on. But the way Garret supported her to be strong and take control was brilliant. Apart from that this continued to be filled with more secrets betrayal, traitors, suspense, action, gore and the kinky spice was hot. I wanted more of the epilogue because I did love Garret and Sara together.
I'm so glad the 2nd part of this duet was finally released after the cliffhanger in #1.
The story picks up right where it left off in book 1. Alot of action and suspense. I did really like the character development in the story.
After finishing the second half of this duet, I do feel that this boos 1 and 2 could have easily been combined to make 1 novel. The ending did feel very rushed and it ended so abruptly leaving me with lots of questions. The epilogue only added to those questions. Could have used more time in the proofreading and editing stage.
Overall, it was a good story. Make sure you check your trigger warnings. It was entertaining to read and had spice.

✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨
Burn It Down is the second installment of the En Prise Duet series, and it did not disappoint. Sara is back, and she is better than ever, kicking ass and taking names. She took care of business and proved to herself and everyone else that she did not need a man and that the hierarchy was due for a change. Garret proves to be her biggest cheerleader and her safe space. I love the level of comfort they have with each other and the banter. They are a power couple not to be messed with.
I suspected where the story was heading but was not disappointed, and it still kept me on the edge of my seat. Sara was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers.
We left book one on a big cliffhanger. Sara found out about her family legacy and was also running from her stalker. Are Sara and Garret okay after that accident? I enjoyed the idea of the book and the plot but I think there is room for improvement on storyline/execution. It does get a little gory too but the spicy scenes were A+
I really enjoy a dark, romantic suspense though and this was good.
For how short these two books were it could have been one book. So it was a good book but the ending had me confused. I thought this was a duet but it ended abruptly and the epilogue gave me more unanswered questions and I was not satisfied.
Katie Perez now you have one more fan, I want everything you write... With this book the writer ends her series with this novella "Burn It Down" and I honestly wanted it to never end and I mean never. “He may have enjoyed the pain he inflicted me, but that's nothing compared to how much fun I'll have watching the life drain from her eyes." But let me say that I loved the fact that this novel focused on Sara who believe me goes through a difficult time especially during this book but reading about her realizes how damn tough she is. I love Garrett and Sara but many women should learn to understand that we don't have to wait for the man to save us... We are our own salvation. But let's get to Garret, our masked serial killer who I fell even more in love with... I love him but even more I love how he takes care of Sara Understanding at the same time that she is tough enough to take care of herself but if she needed it she would give her life for her in every way. I loved the fact of the songs included in the novel and the double point of view... Now that I've finished the review I miss Garret and Sara so much.. Absolutely recommended. Rate 4.5⭐
This is book two of the duet and you must read book one before reading this one.
Okay, wow. This book moved SOO fast. The duet could have probably been combined into one book since they’re both short and fast reads. So much occurs in such a short time.
We continue the story of Sara and Garrett. Sara is in a continuing phase of empowerment and growth/transformation. The world she once knew is one she is no longer a part of.
Garrett will do anything for Sara, and he definitely shows up and shows out. We get conclusions to the earlier questions from book one, and secrets are revealed.
Katie Perez was comin’ in hot with Book 2, “Burn it Down.” After that wicked cliffhanger, I eagerly jumped right into the story of Sara and Garrett to find out where they landed. The excitement and action did not falter, nor did the spice. The spice ramped up. So much more was revealed in “Burn it Down.” The secret society is an entirely different world, living by its own rules. I loved how Garrett supported and encouraged Sara’s empowerment throughout. The story was quite graphic, so read those TW/CWs, but I thought the nature of the story fit with it.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book! I loved it! Book one ends in a cliffhanger and I was so mad because I didn't want to wait for a long time. Now book two starts right off where book one ended and wow. I hated Nathan in book one and I hated him even more in this book. I was so proud of Sara for becoming a bad a**. Now Garrett he didn't stop at anything to get her back and when he did he supported her. The meetings she held haha omg yes, show the men who are boss. I enjoyed this conclusion to the duet. I didn't expect so many of the secrets that came out. This book definitely had my head spinning. I can't wait to read more from Katie.
This was 3.5 stars for me. After reading book one months ago, I’ve been waiting for this one. I do want to say I did enjoy how this book started off exactly where book 1 ended. It jumps right into the chaos for where it ended, and where we were left were so many questions. I do feel like most of them were answered in this book! Though, it was just a little too fast paced I feel like. And the ending I’m still a little confused on. Maybe I missed something since it’s been a little while since I read book 1? But regardless, I do really enjoy Katie’s writing style. and I’m pretty satisfied with how this duet ended!
Burn it Down picks right up at the cliffhanger from Light it Up, and once again there are so many twists and turns that it just keeps you captivated from start to finish. Sara’s strength to stare directly into the face of the man who hurt her, along with the ones who helped him, was inspiring. Garrett standing back and letting Sara call the shots on how to handle things, even though he very much wanted to seek vengeance on his own, is the definition of a man in love who respects his woman.
There are quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes in the kindle version of this book, and without those this would have been a solid 4⭐️ read for me.
I’m.. so conflicted. This book was leagues above book 1, but it wasn’t particularly good And that ending?? The random reveal at the end with zero context?? It read as the author wanting to bring the scandal of Sara’s parents back into the story without having any idea how to go about it - so she just dropped in a random new character with some random ass lore relating to Sara’s parents, and then immediately into a The End Like.. I’m so annoyed lol but I’m glad to see how this author has improved and looking forward to what they do in the future (questionable on whether I’ll actually pick it up, vamos a ver)

The conclusion to Sara and Garretts story is here, and it did not disappoint. We are thrust right back were book one ended and straight into the action. This book is a character development of Sara and shows how far she has come from were she started in book 2, she shows her strength and how much of a baddass she has not become. Garrett is her centre, he sees her for what she is and given his background he gives her the chance for growth. I loved this two and this book, great conclusion to the duet.
I am torn about this book. I want to love it so much but I felt some of it was very rushed and missing chunks of information. It needs a good editing for mistakes as well. There were so many and it kind of turned me away from wanting to continue reading the book. i feel book 1 and book 2 could have easily been made into one book as well. The abrupt ending left me with more questions and the epilogue also left me with more questions. I did finish it since it was a shorter book but it was not my most favorite read. Overall it has so much potential to be stellar!

What a conclusion to Garret and Sara's story! Sara has turned into a complete BAD@SS and started to truly step into her role within The Council. After her kidn@pping and the abu$e she went through, she came out that much stronger. These two were truly meant for each other in every possible way. The information they uncovered had my mouth falling. If y'all haven't read this yet, you should!
Did you enjoy The Ritual and Haunting Adeline? Do you wish the FMC in your dark romances was a bit more badass and less damsel? In the first book Sara discovers a secret society filled with killers and criminals. In the second book, Burn It Down, Sara decides not to just join them... but to control them.
